The Very Model of a Modern Major General

It is with great sadness that I must inform the Rebublic of Great Denizistan that Saxe-Coburg is now officially in a state of war with your nation. We cannot stand idly by and see our allies and fellow Catholics be attacked by other nations for trying to put down a rebellion in their own land. I beg of you to rescinde your declaration of war and settle this issue peacefully. --Cardinal Ferdinand von Berens. |

Our government offers right of passage to Denizistani military units for the duration of this conflict. Though our countries have our differences, we have in common a commitment to international law and democracy, thus we are, if Denizistan is, willing to consider Denizistan and its allies as friends of the Syawlan Empire in the defence of civilised society and human rights. At the same time, we cut off international relations with the CNNP. Our ambassadors are herein withdrawn and we ask that theirs our too. This is however, not a declaration of war on the CNNP. Our people are disappointed however due to the support our nation showed the CNNP during its recent quarrels with the CAC. |

Vice-Presidente Silvio Berlusconi: We are deeply moved by the Syawlan gesture and will withdraw all of all ambassadors and will recognize no state of beligerency between us...we can only hope that this unfortunate conflict can be resolved without bloodshed but are willing to do whatever is necessary for South Africa. As for the time being, no declaration of war has been made towards anyone...are arsenal is at the disposal of the South African government. |

Our government cannot tolerate the CNNP supplying arms to South Africa. If the CNNP truly does not seek conflict, it must halt this practice immediately or it will, unfortunately, be considered an enemy of the Syawlan people. |

OOC: Deniz, neat pictures...gonna be hard to find some Soviet naval pictures but I'll manage if it should come to that... IC: We do not see the Syawlan peoples as our enemy and implore them to join us...we must aid our allies. We cannot allow CENTO aggression to go unchecked on the African continent. We remember a time when the Syawlan government was one in such a cause. |

The government of the Second Syawlan Unitary Republic makes one final plea to the CNNP to refrain from supplying arms to South Africa. There will be no more requests after this. |

A black sedan approached the Imperial Palace. It was the President's staff car, flying the flags of the Unitary Republic. The guards didn't bother to stop it, President Dupers often left without any notice to them. The car drove into the parking structure and disappeared. Some minute later, another guard came out of the subterranean structure. The Gate Guards called him over. One of them realized he was unfamiliar, but didn't say anything. His commander had a hard time memorizing faces, and got mad anytime something like that was brought up. The other guard spoke to him. "Did you see the Chancellor's sedan go down there?" "Yeah, but it continued therough the security gate, I don't know where it was going." "Probably to pick the Chance--President up." "I'd bet. He's alwayscoming and going." "Yeah, well, you better get back to whatever it was you were doing." "Of course." The guard walked in the direction of the guard's entrance to the Palace. No one thought much of it... Agent Metellus Cimberus walked unrestricted into the Imperial Palace. The simple uniform served him well, the gate guards hadn't suspected anything. He walked calmly up the stairs like he had somewhere to go. No one stopped him. He walked unobtrusively into the bathroom. A few minutes later, he was dressed as one of the President's aides, courtesy of the Palace's lack of security during the new Republic. Hopefully no one would notice the bludgeoned aide.... He walked calmly into the President's Office. Luckily, the man he had ambushed in the bathroom had been the secretary. He shut the door and went in. Immediately, he opened the inner door from behind the desk. Dupers was inside, on thephone facing the other way. Carefully, he snuck up behind the evil little man. He waited until Dupers had hung up, and fired a whole clip from his concealed silenced pistol into the President's brain. Making sure Dupers was dead, he then quickly downloaded the contents of his computer, and the ones in the outer room, onto a special memory stick. He then shot the computers, tower, monitor, and all. He beat feet to the President's escape shoot, and landed in the yard outside. With that, he calmly walked off into the night... |

President Dupers has been killed this day. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the injuries, inflicted by an assassin's revolver were deep and caused an unsatiable amount of bloodloss. The funeral of the 1st President of the Second Republic will take place next week. Former Vice President Michel Aloisi has been declared President by the Senate. Aloisi has immediately declared the assassin an enemy to the Republic, and has deployed reserves in Catholic communities to round up suspected conspirators. At the same time Syawlan troops are now fully deployed on the Limpopo river in preparation for a pre-emptive strike into South Africa. |

"South Africa challenges Denizistan to point out which UN resolutions that the Imperial Government have violated in crushing rebels and bandits. Furthermore South Africa condemns Denizistan for manipulating the United Nations, of which S. A. is not a part of, in supporting Prime Minister Karoglu's destructive schemes. The UN does not have jurisidction in this matter, and Denizistan stands by itself in waging a unilateral war of aggression. That the outlaw regime of Denizistan should aggrandize and imperialize with impunity against Maratanica and Akam De, while simultaneously condemning the sovereign, free nation of South Africa for crushign internal rebels and bandits is rank hypocrisy that brazenly trivializes and insults all international laws and customs. South Africa calls upon all self-rsepecting and independent nations in the world to combine forces against Denizistan, this rogue state that is willing to spill blood of innocents in their campaign against the concepts of national sovereignty and self-rule. Denizistan and Syawla have time and time again sought to destabilize the legitimate governments of Africa. However, this shall be the last time Africa deals with these rampant imperialistic regimes. The impending battle shall be the final struggle of the proud and free African people to cast off these foreign oppressors, and the days of imperialistic aggression are numbered." Interior Minister Willson Alabi --- Mobilization of armed forces About 300 divisions of infnatry have been dispatched to the Vaal Valley where work is proceeding at a breakneck pace, on constructing defensive structures and entrenchments. In the Boer highlands patrols crisscross the hill country daily. Rural airfields have been hastily impounded and paved, in order to accomodate the military aircraft. On the various strategic flat beaches and major coastal cities, engineers and soldiers have spent the past few days scrambling to set up and unpack coastal bateries, anti aircraft guns, and other artillery weapons. The imperial navy, led by several modern Paradisan-made warships, but otherwise obsolete, will mainly be used for raiding any dEnizistan naval formations and ship-basd suply lines. Religious morale campaign; formation of martyr brigades Parish priests and bishops everywhere are preaching crusade against the enemesi of state, including urging any and all civilians to enter service as suicide bombers and other self-sacrifices. The Inquisition authorities have gone to extreme lengths in rural areas, forcing every family to donate at least one child for suicide bombing campaigns, threatening to punish the entire family, financially and physicailly, if they do not comply. To set an example for the people, Cardinal Emperor John's brother Grand Prince George has taken two of his sons from school in Italy and have enrolled them as suicide bombers. So far about 1,000,000 pious South Africans, mostly teenagers, have joined training for guerilla suicide bombing or acting as suicidal human shields on the front line. Others unwilling to go to such extreme lenghts are nevertheless implored to donate their time and resources to the war effort; many factories being covverted to production of war materiels. Housewivse are encouraged to send food to soldiers and conserve on the home front; rationing is contemplated if reousrces become tight. Whatever their personal sacrifice, all civilians participating in the war are promised a straight ticket to heaven alongside Jesus Christ, and bishops spread word that every enemy killed will absolve exactly 5,000 mortal sins for the killer. |

Cardinal Emperor John I announces Catholic Revolution, assumes dictatorial powers The ruler of South Africa has stated that he believes the people have been straying from religion, and therefore has annonced a massive national initiative called the "Catholic Revolution Against The Kingdom of Satan." The pronounced aims of this initiative are the destruction of heresy, heterodoxy, modernism, and secularism. ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES - in a sttunning and unexpected show of brutality and tyrannny the Cardinal Emperor and the Holy Inquisition have purged the government of all secular elements, making South Africa into a totalitarian theocracy. Several tens of thousands govt employees, from low ranking mailmen to high bureaucrats, have been imprisoned for being deemed "secular." The Cardinal Emperor has also cited Canon Law to overthrow the laws of monarchy, and he has executed his brother and his nephews and nieces, who were originally in the Line of Sucession. Henceforth the govt of South Africa will be exclusively handdled by bishops, and after he dies, John I will be succeeded by another Cardinal of his choosing. SOCIAL CHANGES - The ordinary people have been mobilized and whipped up into a frenzy similar to China's Cultural Revolution, and laymen are participating in "Anti-Secularism" grassroots campaigns. Pornography, non-religious literature, and other questionable media have been deemeed illegal and burned in huge bonfires. Private ownership of cameras and videocameras has also been banned, and frenzied mobs of "Revolutionary Guards" - ordinary South Africans motivated by religious fervor - have trashed many businesses whose servies or owners have been deemd "secular." All South Africans are being urged to attend Mass everyday, even several times a day, for fear of punishment by the Inquisition. Also common sights onf South African streets inculde massive daily religious parades, with colossal statues of Jesus Christ,Virgin Mary, crucifixes, and other saints and relics, being displayed and carryeid by the fanatical faithful. Those who have been suspected of blasphemy or heresy have been thrown into prison camps and reeducation camps, these including people not attending Mass, not taking off one's hat in the presence of a holy Bible, masturbation, women not covering their entire body in a church, and general disobedience. CRUSADE AGAINST SATANISM - The Catholic Revolution has already witnessed several large scale witchhunts, primarily in the hill country where pagan beliefs persist. Inquisition forces have been converting or executing those who adhere to traditional tribal religions, and even more proactive measures against "Satanic cults" are upcoming. |

Neo-Macedonia applauds South Africa for their most Catholic actions. We too will soon be instigating similar reforms to our nation once our Queen returns home from her visit in Rome. We would also ask that members of the South African inquisition come to Neo-Macedonia to train ours so that we may have as effective an inquisition as possible. The Queen will also be looking to travel to South Africa so that she may meet with the Cardinal Emperor to discuss the occupied zone. -Official statement from the Neo-Macedonian royal palace. OOC: TC I know you invited the Queen before, and I meant to ask then, did you actually want to play out the negotiation for the occupied zone, or just right a short news cast on it and let that be that? |

Mobilizing economy for wartime The Imperial Court announces today that the South African nation is committed to a total war effort against the enemies of Catholicism, including those in Europe threatening Saxe-Coburg. To this end the civilian economy will be mobilized and converted to a wartime economy with centralized management of resources to more efficiently carry out the government's war plans. Auto manufacturers, the Information Technology sector, and nearly all South African industries have been compelled to convert their peacetime activities to construction of war supplies. |
