*COUGH* :D

You're kidding me! Not again! Oh well, get used to it I'm flaky lol ! Now you know how I feel about the whole VD thing  .

IC:

The Calvinia Public Library had sufficed for a forward command post for colonial forces in Neo-Macedonia. "General" Ingabe L'Istat was in charge of the Eastern Line. His force of some 8,000 men were tasked with capturing Akroinon, the industrial capital of the nation. Under his command were some 2,000 Legionnaires, 4,500 Neo-Macedonian Catholics and Defectors, and some 1,500 Ivoiran mercs, himself among them, who had been drawn in by the ever increasing Norightsian prescence within Cote D'Ivoire.

A sattelite map was spread across a large reading table near the Reference Desk. Crowded around the table on the library's utilitarian wooden chairs were his officers. The map was marked up in red and black sharpie that clearly showed friendly and enemy positions. Seiging Akroinon would be a task, as some 7,000 Neo-Macedonian combat troops, along with anywhere from five to twenty battle tanks. The Queen had specifically asked General Lucius Cortio to take Akroinon with minimal collateral damage. That meant no air or artillery support.

The grand strategy was to direct a three-pronged assault to isolate Acropolis. "Operation Trident", as it was officially known, involved breaking up the 25,000 man force into three battle groups. Battle Group East, under L'Istat, Battle Group West, some 9,000 men under Colonel Pontius Marcomus, and Battle Group South, some 8,000 men under Colonel Cornelius Spaeco. East would capture Akroinon and swing south, pinning Neo-Macedonian forces in Callinicum in between them and the Syawlans and CNNP in the annexed zone. South would Worcester, and then split, half reinforcing East, and half reinforcing West, which would siege Saldanha, and then erinforced would atack Acropolis. After the capital fell, East would break off and take Callinicum. By then Syawla would have retaken the Annexed Zone, and power would be restored to the Queen. Easy as pie. Now L'Istat just had to live up to his mission.

OOC: It ok  I mean I did want this to last a while, but now I'm getting the point where I want it to be over so I can start on some new ideas I have for the nation.

IC:
L'Istat was a man of his word and capturing Akroinon is just what he did. L'Istat and his 8,000 troops marched towards the city as the morning sun began to pier over the eastern hills.

The General (self-proclaimed king) had feared that with the sphere of Catholic influencing moving so far near Akroinon, that it would logically be the next target. He wanted to defend the city with everything he had, however logically that would make the city his last line of defense and should it fall to the Catholics, they would have a straight shot to the Capital with little to no resistance. So against his better judgment he was only able to send 7,000 troops with about 10 battle tanks.

The battle tanks began to fire as L'Istat and his men charged the city with everything they had. The battle was fierce and bloodshed on both sides. However, L'Istat did not charge with his full force and so after a few minutes his troops were pinned down only a few feet from the heat of Akroinon. This of course was his plan all along. He had sent about 200 of his men ahead of them before they left Calvinia. Since the loyalists new that the Catholic forces would be charging from the North, they had little to no security in the southern part of the city. L'Istat's men took merely an hour to break through the security before word could reach the main forces which had the rest of the Catholic forces pinned. The men battled their way into a near by sky scraper where the to launch a rocket attack on the tanks which were supplying the main defense to the city. Once they were taken care of it would be only a matter of time before L'Istat and the rest of his men over took the Neo-Macedonian troops and captured the city.

When the final man was in his place the soldiers gave out a countdown.
3.....
2...
1..
FIRE!!!!!
The missiles came screaming out the rocket launchers and raced through the sky. The Neo-Macedonian soldiers in and around the tanks were completely caught by surprise as the missile barged through the tanks armor and exploded supplying L'Istat and the rest of his troops with a much needed fireworks display. However their element of surprised on the now ever confused and disoriented Neo-Macedonian soldiers would not last forever, so L'Istat gave the order to charge and the Catholic forces barged their way into what was left of the Neo-Macedonian defense line and with hours what troops were left threw down their guns and surrendered. After securing the city, L'Istat and his men gathered was supplies they could from the city and gain a few extra men for their cause and headed for Callinicum.

As L'Istat began his work in Callinicum, he began to received word that both Colonel Pontius Marcomus and Colonel Cornelius had both had similar successes in their missions as did L'Istat in Akroinon. Now the scope of Catholic influences was enormous with almost the entire nation under the Catholic cause. Self-proclaimed King Hadrianus now only had a little over 6,000 troops plus some 12 tanks protecting him as he sat in horror in the Royal Palace at Acropolis. He knew the capital was their last target and that they would stop at nothing to obtain it.

Colonel Pontius Marcomus, Lieutenant Commander of the Third Cohort of the LXXVI Legion was relatively confident of victory in Acropolis. Operation Trident had gone down without a hitch. Acropolis was the last battle. He had 13,000 men, twice the number of the enemy. He also had a naval blockade scheduled. Hadrianus had nothing to do but sit and wait to die.

The NIN Pompeii was a bombardment cruiser, with huge guns capable of ruining a city. Flanked by two destroyers and four cruisers, it sailed into Acropolis Harbour undaunted. The Navy had had less loyalty to Hadrianus then had the Army, so they had defected en masse at the war's start.

Now Hadrianus's men had to fight a superior force under siege and under bombardment. Hadrianus was holed up in a bunker under the palace. The Queen had specifically asked that he be taken alive. Marcomus had promised he would accomplish that mission. He intended to succeed.

Our forum doesn't have a set time frame here, so that really depends on the player as far as I know.

It has been around ~50 years since the fall of the racist Apartheid regime in South Africa (OOC spring 05 or so).

Although I like that the OOC/IC times are all not uniform from nation to nation and from day to day, it never hurts gameplay anyways and so we are all very flexible if OOC busy/lazy.

While I would like the idea of a standardized time scale, I agree that our flexibility never hurts gameplay. In fact, I think that trying to set a single time scale would be a lot of work, and maybe be more trouble than its worth. :D

At 05:00, the order came to assault. Immediately, some small artillery pieces opened fire on Acropolis. The men formed into regiments and squads, and began to march on the city.

Scattered resistance from snipers in the suburbs quickly quelled, but the Army hit a brick wall near the Acropolis city limit. The enemy tanks had blockaded all the major routes into the city. The tanks then began steamrolling the Catholic militia up front. Without anti-tank weapons, they were helpless against the machines.

The Legionaires quickly called in artillery support, but the quick-moving tanks were escaping the fire. The Legionaires, who were only on two of the major highways, brought up Anti-Tank rockets and RPGs to the Militias, while assaulting their own tanks with several TOW-equipped Humvees.

Still, it was slow going all day, with lives lost for every inch. By evening, about 4,000 Catholic militia men were dead, all the tanks were knocked out, and 2,500 Neo-Macedonians lay dead. The Army hadn't even entered Downtown yet.

An uneasy peace ensued that night. The Catholics occupied Apartments and businesses on the outskirts, while the Neo-Macedonians had retreated into the core of the city. Hadrianus himself was in the old Palace, pacing back and forth in the throne room contemplating his next move.

The Catholics launched a pre-dawn strike the next day that caught the rebels by surprise. By midday, they were within a mile of the Palace. Here was where the Neo-Macedonians made their stand. 1,500 men, all elite guardsmen, had barricaded the square outside the Palace. It had become a death-trap to any Catholic entering it. The capture of Hadrianus would have to wait till tomorrow, or air-support...

The sun was setting in Calvinia as Queen Chloe finished her evening meal. The Queen kept her promise with God, and still dressed herself daily in the black mourning robes with the veil covering her face. When Chloe was finished with her meal her aids entered the room and took away the food. As they left a young Catholic militia officers walked into the room. He approached Chloe and then bowed, she in return held out her hand for him to kiss. The officer did so and then spoke.

I am sorry to disturb you sovereign mother but I have the latest reports on the battle in the capital for you.

You do not disturb me my child said the Queen, please let me see them.

The officer handed Chloe the reports and added: It's a pleasure to be serving you Queen Chloe, truly you are our sovereign mother, you gave life to Neo-Macedonia when there was none and you once again brought us hope that we may be forgiven by the church and God.

You have only the Pope and God to thank for that she said softly and then went on the read the reports. As she finished the last page of the reports she set them down on the table and then told the aid he could leave. She then turned to her faithful guard who were sitting across the small table where she sat

It would appear that our ally has Hadrianus cornered. It is time for me to return to my Palace and enact punishment on him. Prepare me a convoy I will leave for the city at once. We should arrive just shortly after the defeat of Hadrianus and his few loyal men.

The guards made the necessary phone calls and then followed the queen out of the luxurious hotel room the Queen was being housed in. When the Queen made it too the bottom floor the convoy was already waiting for her and so she and her guards entered their vehicle and it drove off into the approaching night.

"This bickering is pointless and has gone on long enough. I am offering to broker a peace settlement between the Papists and the Loyalists. The citizens of Neo-Macedonia have been caught up in this destructive civil war for too long and I will not tolerate it any further. If no response is given in ((real-life 24 hours)), Egyria will be forced to intervene.

"This is not wise Saddam. With the devastation of Syria we cannot risk spreading ourselves any further-"

"Spreading further is exactly what the Papacy is doing in Neo-Macedonia. With all that has been happening recently I had forgotten that Catholic Europe will spread its influence wherever it can - not just in the Middle East. This is an opportunity to tell the Papacy that we will not fall for their false words of peace, of 'isolation.'"

"But the Dawn, Wadj, they-"

"Lack the foresight to see where this path will take us unless something is done about it. The 400th Infantry will deploy as planned. There is to be no further discussion."

"But-"

"No buts. It is time that Egyria takes a larger part in the world's machinations."

And so the Egyrian Intervention Force sailed from Egyria.

The 400th Infantry, ten thousand highly-trained and proud men strong, on a variety of transports. They were accompanied by a small escort of an AEGIS anti-missile cruiser, 5 standard cruisers, 3 submarines and 10 destroyers - each of the latter with a EAX-12A Wali VTOL interceptor on a pad near the stern, ready for their first combat engagement if necessary.

If necessary - hopefully, as the fleet sailed through the Suez Canal on its long way south to the Cape, a settlement would be brokered.

I assure the Sheik that no intervention in Neo-Macedonia is required. With my help, the Catholics have retaken much of the country cheaply, without air support or armour. Furthermore, enough troops are stationed in New Medea to end the war quickly. We are simply proceeding at the pace that Queen Chloe has asked of us. Thank you.

With the deadline given by Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed expired, the Egyrian Intervention Force made its move.

Landing southeast of the city of Acropolis wholly unopposed, the EIF began to debark their transports by landing craft.

Posted Image

As they arrived, they quickly established a perimeter and began to set up a camp. Prefabricated guard towers and sections of chain-link fence were shuttled in by a pair of Mi-8 "Hip" helicopters along for the ride to speed up the establishment of a semi-fortified position.

Slowly but surely, the 400th Infantry arrived onshore and built up Fort Dirkadirkastan - after the movie Team America: World Police, which the men had watched on their long journey from Egypt - doing it in shifts so that some could get rest while the others worked, and then switching off.

All day they did this, and then through the night.

They continued bulking up their base while the rest of the troops auxiliary equipment was shipped off the boats, waiting for their next orders.

OOC: The Egyrian 400th Infantry Division consists of 10,000 infantrymen, 40 AIFV armored fighting vehicles, 1200 OT-64C(1) armored personnel carriers, 1200 KrAZ-255B armored trucks, 5 ZSU-23-4 self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, 5 ZSU-57-2 self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, 2 IMR Armoured Engineering Vehicles, 1 PMP Floating Bridge vehicles, 40 GAZ-69 trucks, 10 Walid rocket systems, 5 BM-27 rocket systems, 75 100mm field guns, 100 150mm heavy guns, and 25 180mm heavy guns.

The Egyrian army is designed for desert warfare and is at its best in large, set-piece battles. Otherwise, the Egyrian military does not excel at anything in particular but does not suffer at anything either. The 400th participated in the Civil War and so is not a completely inexperienced unit. Egyrian soldiers are conscripts but are nonetheless highly motivated and well-trained (training comes at the sacrifice of using, for the most part, improved Soviet-style equipment).

Hadrianus glazed out his window in wonder as he watched the Egyerian forces set up camp on the shore line of the capital.

I can finally die he said to himself over and over.

For some time now Hadrianus had come to the fact that he was going to die. He did not fear death because he always viewed as the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. However, with the Catholics winning the civil war so far he always feared that the story he had begun would end not as he originally planned for it too. The Egyrian presence however ensured that even if Hadrianus was put the death for his crimes against the nation and church there would be someone left behind to fight in his place.

It was no international secret as to why the Egyrians were here and Hadrianus saw them as his living legacy. As Hadrianus fought to rid the nation of Catholics, so too would the Egyrians. The self proclaimed King call in an aid and ordered them to send what supplies they had left to the new Egyrian presences as well as in and all intelligence they had on the Catholic enemy. He then prepared himself for bed, it would be the first night in a long time he got a full nights rest.

Else where in the nation
The Queen was in her SUV convoy when the message was sent to her about the Egyrian presence, she became extremely worried. She knew how the Egyrians viewed the church and fear this would only take her nation into more bloodshed. She quickly began to type a message to be transmitted to the Egyrian government.

Diplomatic Transmission
To:Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed
From: The rightful ruler of Neo-Macedonia, Queen Chloe

Dear Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed, I greatly thank you for your interest in Neo-Macedonia's affairs and I am sorry that it has taken so long for me to reply to your message. I completely agree with you that the citizens of Neo-Macedonia have been caught up in this terrible civil war for far too long. However, also understand that it is the citizens of Neo-Macedonia who fight themselves to regain the peace and prosperity that Hadrianus stole from them. He is a sick and twisted man who stole this nation from me after the sad death of my beloved husband. I, like you, want to see an end to this war and I assure you that end is near. With the help of Catholic allies, we have Hadrianus cornered and I promise you that his death with mark and new age of peace for our nation. I will not request at this time that you leave my nation because I understand that you wish only to see that the people of Neo-Macedonia are given the freedom and peace the deserve, but I will ask that you do not interfere with the natural course of my nations evolution. I assure that to do so would mean an act of war against not only the people and nation of Neo-Macedonia, but also to it's allies, and to the church it serves to faithfully.
