Egyria seeks arms; hardware devastated by the Civil War

OOC: This is essentially a message to all nations that Egyria is looking for military equipment.

While Egyria's missile systems, fleet, and small-arms were for the most part not affected by the Civil War, thousands of tanks, aircraft, and other vehicles were lost in the chaos.

This is a problem for Egyria. Most of their equipment was Soviet-era, with some from the Egypt-Syria merger, others bought afterwards since Soviet arms are, as a rule, cheap. Their lesser quality was compensated by a concentration on training.

However, the dissemination of such equipment across the globe leaves Egyria with a shortage of possible supply, and Egyria's industries and material resources are not up to the task alone.

Any potential business discussions should be conducted through PM's.

THIS IS WWN...

...giant flying bunnies.

In the Middle East, a source in the Egyrian government said that Egyria was currently in negotiations with the Al Araamenian government, a private company based in the Trilateral Commission's lands, and has even been contacted by the Paradisian government after Egyria announced several days ago that it is in need of military equipment after the devastating Civil War.

"I can neither confirm nor deny these rumors," stated Minister of War Farah Jinai.

Meanwhile, in Europe, tensions persist along religious lines...

"Your eminence, the Minister of War is on line two."

"Thank you."

Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed picks up the phone.

"What can I do you for Mr. Jinai?"

"Sire, I have concluded negotiations with the company in Trilateral Commission."

"What is the deal for?"

"One hundred eighty Merkava tanks for the Guard, sixty-five hundred MiG-23 fighters, and eight thousand T-90 tanks. After some price bargaining, the grand total is $145,800,000,000."

"Wow... I see... and this works with the budget I assigned, right? I can't remember these numbers off the top of my head..."

"Yes, sire - "

"Stop calling me that."

"Er, yes sire - er, yes, there is still plenty of money left for the other hardware we need - the vehicles for our infantry divisions. Hopefully the Araamenians will be able to help us out in this regard, because I'd prefer not to have to rely on the Paradisians..."

"Yes, I know what you mean."

"Are you really going to go to Paradise yourself?"

"I think it sends a good message."

"But the dangers - "

"Yes there is a risk. But one I am willing to accept. The invitation by the Paradisian minister was for me."

"But the Emperor himself did not ask, he sent a delegate. Remember the example of the surrender at Yorktown, when Washington sent a lesser officer because of the British example?"

A pause.

"Hmmm... perhaps you're right. In any case, consider the deal authorized."

"Alright. Thank you s-, er, Saddam."

"Good night Mr. Jinai."

He hangs up the phone.

SECURE MESSAGE

TO: The Foreign Affairs Minister of Paradise
FROM: His Eminence Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed of the Socialist Sheikdom of Egyria

I will not be blackmailed in order to get arms. There will be no further discussion on this matter.

Good day.

"Your eminence, the Minister of War is on line two."

"Thank you."

Shiek Saddam bin Mohammed picks up the phone.

"What can I do for you Mr. Jinai?"

"I've been discussing with some American contractors. I think I've got some deals, so I just want to run them over with you."

"Shoot."

"The AIFV, from the FMC Corporation, is a cheaper version of the M2 Bradley - mostly the Bradley is a much heavier vehicle, and the Pentagon doesn't like other countries getting their hands on them. An order for 105,000 vehicles at $8 million a-piece is in order. It's really quite a steal, I've been told."

"OK... what's next on the list?"

"Now an order from a Polish company, the OT-64C(1) can suit our APC needs. They're better than our old BTR-60's too, as they were designed to counter them. A bit more room, a bit faster, a bit more armor - and this is stock, mind; obviously we'll modify them further. The order is for 150,000 units, each at $6 million. There's the concern over the fact that this is a Papal ally, but this is a private transaction, like the deal with the Commission, so I see no real problems."

"Neither do I. Continue."

"The Russian military has a bunch of surplus trucks for sale due to further budget cuts and downsizing. The most cost-effective and most numerous are the old KrAZ-255B's. These are quite large trucks, and very cheap - $60,000 a pop - their only downside being that we'd have to replace the tarpaulin covering the cargo area with Kevlar. Since doctrine calls for the tougher vehicles in the front line..."

"You've got my approval on all the deals - so long as it fits in your budget, right?"

"Of course. But what about our air fleet?"

"You've been briefed on the project*... so our own industry will have a chance to get up to speed. Anything else?"

"No, that's it."

"Good night then, Mr. Jinai."

He hangs up the phone.

Egyrian strength restored
Sheik announces full remobilization of army

THEBESIA, Egypt - His Eminence Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed today anonounced that the Egyrian military was to be remobilized after having acquired enough arms to replace those lost in the Civil War.

"Our armed forces have never been stronger," said the Sheik in a statement yesterday. "The hardware we have bought is among the best in the world, and with the skill and valor and strength of the Egyrian soldier behind it all, we are nigh-invincible!"

Arms were brought from companies in the Trilateral Commission and the United States, as well as from the Russian government.

It is not known if the arms destined for Catholic Europe purchased from Paradise will be utilized for the Egyrian military or will simply be held in storage.

The Sheik's call for remobilization means that all male citizens ages 18-50 must report to their designated depots by Sunday. Citizens are reminded to bring their birth certificate, their current job certificate, and a secondary form of identification.
