[OOC: This thread will be ongoing, and it will contain details of all meetings between The President and his Ministers, as well as any general news reports. Anything big will, of course, get a new thread. But there won't be much that's big for now. IC: Posted Image It's early evening in Seventh Star, and The President paces up and down his office. So many things on his mind. Less than other heads of state, perhaps. But a lot, nonetheless. He can't help wondering if opening Budo's borders was a mistake. They hadn't had any contact with the outside world since The Wars. Could his people handle it? Yes. Of course they can! Budoens are STRONG people, fearless in fact. Now his ministers enter the room. All of them, except Kobain, Minister of First Star. President De Pesci [PDP]: Take a seat Gentlemen. They do so. PDP: Where is Kobain? Minister Pomp Del a' Key [DAK]: I'm afraid he couldn't join us this evening, Mr President. PDP: Couldn't...what? DAK: Yes, sir. Said he had some very important business to attend to elsewhere. PDP: This is the second consecutive SYBEX meeting he's missed, y'know. Minister Davidovich [D]: We do sir, I'll be sure to pass your displeasure along to Kobain. PDP: Do. OK, seeing as Kobain is not with us it's straight to you Mr Gaul. Minister Gual [G]: Not much to say really, but we've had a spate of muggings recently. All around the same area, I'm thinking it's the same guy. The General has been advised. PDP: Good, good. Rayna, I receieved your report, glad to see unemployment still at 0%. But you have to work on those crime figures, up three percent in six months? That's terrible. Davadavich...well, keep those figures as they are and we'll be buddies. But Gentlemen I do have some bad news for you...tax-cuts. Shocked gasps. PDP: I realise that the last thing we really want is tax-cuts, but with the world now watching I don't think we can really keep up this 100% income tax. I'm thinking about bringing it down to 50%, which will harm us in the short-term, but in the long term it'll be fine. D: Mr President, what of the missionairies? PDP: Well, I have no problem with them coming in as long as they don't cause any trouble. It's your domain anyway, anything religious has to be set up in Fifth Star. D: Of course. PDP: But I want a close eye kept on them, get The General on that Gaul. G: Will do. PDP: Any other business? No. Good. Dismissed. --- SEVENTH STAR NEWS "Our main story tonight is the astonishing tax-cuts announced by President De Pesci today. It's two years until election time, and many are wondering if this could be some sort of pre-emptive vote grabber. Our Financial Correspondent John Smith is outside The Red House tonight..." |
