"The Empire is pleased to see that Syawla has wisely decided to terminate the illegal occupation of the Limpopo area. To see that both Syawla as Camizu are now playing the role of continental liberator is preposterous to say the least. Although values as self-determination and liberty are commendable goals, it is nor Syawla's righ nor Camizu's to decide which parts of another nation should be free and which others shouldn't. It goes without saying that both mentioned nations would be quick to decide that neighbours hostile to them should be free while their own nations are of course exempt. Not only is it arbitrary, it is also a blatant lie. The independence of the Limpopo people only played a role at the end of the diplomatic row. Before there was only talk about "incorporation" and the cancellation of a referendum about Limpopo's aspirations. Very self-determining and free indeed! Camizu's liberty slate is also of such an appalling nature, that they'd better shut up about things as freedom and liberties. While Denizistan seems to be prone to similar imperialistic tendencies, we laud the reforms that are currently taking place there. Because it is neither Syawla's nor Camizu's place to decide over another nation's territorial integrity, the Limpopo should be handed back to the South African government lest we be deciding that the Extreme-Nord area of Camizu or Matabeleland in Syawla should be granted their independence." The Emperor is pleased to announce that he is soon to be wed to the Lady Lisa, of the Neo-Macedonian royal family. This union will strengthen the bond between the two nations, stabilising the region as well as providing an heir to the imperial Lee dynasty. The Emperor cordially invites heads of states or their representatives from all the nations of Africa to the recently restored (at the Emperor's own expense) cathedral in Ivoj Nob for the formal union on the 4th October. The Emperor meanwhile appeals to the Pope to bless the union personally in the eyes of God. |

NMN: Neo-Macedonia News King Alexander Augustus is pleased to see that the Emperor and Lady Lisa will marry. He hopes that this will "be the beginning of great years of prosperity between both our nations. Truly God has bless us with this opportunity to unite our two nations and work together to bring the light of Catholicism to Africa." Both Himself and Queen Chloë will attend the ceremony. Queen Chloë has expressed nothing but joy that her younger sister is going to be wed. Neo-Macedonians are particularly happy the Holy Father is returning to Africa. They were overjoyed that he agreed to attend the ceremony and can only hope that while in Africa, he may make a trip back the Neo-Macedonia where they would be most honored if he held a mass within The Cathedral of St. Emmanuel I. In celebration of his impending marriage, the Emperor has called fresh elections to the Imperial Senate, the first since the Revolution some seven months ago. The Emperor declared that "the time has come for the Empire to move from an agenda geared towards war and security towards one grounded firmly in modernisation and prosperity." The elections are scheduled for the week after the imperial wedding on October 11th. Though many of the leading politicians from Syawla perished under the Le Bon rule, a number of young thoroughbreds are emerging as potential statesmen. The following political parties, banned under the regimes of Le Bon and Ruling Council have been permitted to stand for election, alongside any independent candidates: The Christian Democrat Party for Prudential Government (Centre-Right) led by former preacher Antione Dubers, Syawlan Social Democrat Party (Centre-Left) led by Patrice Delacroix, The Christian Coalition (Far Right) led by Marie Rochefauld-Foucauld The Emperor in a simultaneous move has created a second chamber made up of some 19 judges, who will have a role similar to the American Supreme Court, who will each be appointed for life by the Emperor himself. The Emperor retains the ultimate veto on legislation, however agreed to the dissolution of the Ruling Council which was set up in the Le Bon regime, and replacing it with a cabinet drawn from the majority party in the senate. The post of Imperial Chancellor has also been created and is to be bestowed upon the leader of this party. The Emperor said that October 11th would mark a great day in the history of Africa. |

The Emperor has formally withdrawn his invitation to the Denizistani ambassador to his wedding. This is not a slur against the Denizistani nation or people, only against a government that continually perpetuates totally incredible lies regarding its foreign policy. When these lies are withdrawn and the blatant truth admitted to, then our government will be happy to rebuild our bilatral relations. |

It seems clear to all that the only nation mentioning aggression and attacks is Denizistan for whom Patience seems to be a mute point. For the withdrawal of an ambassador due to mere disagreements is at best petty and at worst belligerent. It seems Denizistan although being democratic without a doubt is ruled by a government that bears war-mongering tendencies and as such our nation cannot work with them. |

The government of Denizistan is obvious in its guilt in the manner with which it rattles off the same old cliches over and over again. It has failed to clearly answer a fundamental point; how an invasion, as in of Maratanica, could take place with the rest of the region's knowledge, and yet such an act could be unbeknownst to the Denizistani government? If, as the Denizistani government claims, the action was solely the work of an individual, then it would appear that Denizistani claims about our nation's incompetence are reversable. Not even the most cynical of anti-Denizistani's could see such a level of incompetence inherrent in one of the region's supposed 'Great Powers'. In contrast to Denizistani claims about Syawla being a nation of many words and no action; Syawla is currently undergoing an unheard of level of democratic reform at the request of the Emperor. At the same time, Syawla is currently in serious, private discussion with the Patruan government as to how to improve our bilateral relations. Such discussions are revealing differences between us to be sure, however the distance between our two nation's values and ideals are slowly and painstakingly being shortened. The road is long, and much has been said between Patrua and Syawla that cannot quickly be forgotten, however there is no doubt that the effort has been put in by both parties and that the efforts will soon bear fruit. Finally Syawla has reopened its borders for the first time since the South African War, a war which Syawla was not responsible for, in order to alleviate the suffering of the South African people, as well as an initial, but by no means lone, unconditional aid package to the refugees from this country to the value of $50 million. If we take a look at Denizistan's latest governmental, foreign inititaives the list reveals the unprovoked cancellation of diplomatic exchange with an unhostile, if sometimes argumentative, power in its relations to ourselves; the withdrawal of a nation (Maratanica) from a supposedly defensive alliance, in the shape of the TMA, due to the aggressive acts of the Denizistani government towards it; as well as a mass military buildup in the shape of 250 fighter jets and bombers as well as 2100 tanks in a part of Africa outside of Denizistani sovereignty. The Emperor states, that if indeed one is to judge a nation's aggression and warlike tendencies by a comparison of their most recent foreign policy initiatives then the Emperor comes to the conclusion that it is in fact Denizistan that is to be labelled the aggressive actor rather than the Empire. The Emperor has instructed this body to devote its time to more urgent matters involving our southern neighbour, and thus the last thing that I shall say on this issue is such: our nation has in no way threatened the territorial integrity, legitimacy or interests of the people of Denizistan since the formation of the Empire. On the other hand the Denizistani government has repeatedly made calls for other nations to threaten our own economic interests, has insulted the jurisdiction, competence and legitimacy of us and our allies alongside maintaining a purely farcical lie about its own foreign policy in complete contrast to its own nation's ideals. The Empire urges all nations to view this matter with no compassion and to purely look at the facts that have been presented forthwith. Our nation is by no means innocent for the Emperor's plans for an independent Limpopo were not only unsuccessful but were hugely unpopular in the diplomatic community, to be sure, a fact that the Emperor duly recognises. However for Denizistan to parade itself as a paragon of national virtue stinks of the kind of Nationalistic self-righteousness that characterised the Axis powers of the 1930s and 1940s. The three main political parties taking part in the election campaign in coming weeks have set forth their agenda and formally nominated party leaders who will seek to gain the position of Imperial Chancellor. The Christian Democrat Party for Prudential Government led by former preacher Antione Dubers has set forth a series of economic measures designed to increase prosperity including the minimisation of economic trade barriers by the reduction customs and excise taxes, setting a standard rate of income tax and the removal of certain labour laws. At the same time it has promised to emasculate crime by giving police officers greater powers while assuring supporters of serious scrutiny of the life sciences research industry including stem cell research. On education, the party promises extra funding alongside greater incentive for those taking part in vocational training. Syawlan Social Democrats led by Patrice Delacroix, has come out with a vehement policy demanding the complete overhaul of the public sector. It has promised to create a completely public health service and education service, managed by central government, paid for by an increase in the levels of tax. It promised to protect Syawlan industry and from foreign importswhile promising a series of new bills designed to protect the transgendered and ex-convicts. On crime, the party promised to reduce crime by tackling the root causes; poverty and destitution. Finally the Christian Coalition of Marie Rochefauld-Foucauld delivered pledges for the removal of minimum wage laws, cancellation of the national system for dealing with asylum seekers, the expulsion of all non-essential foreign workers as well as a seriously protectionist economic policy. It also promised to ban all scientific research to do with embryonics while homosexual relationships would be outlawed. The Emperor issued a brief statement that he would look to work with whoever turned out victorious for the greater good of the Empire. ---- In other news, the Emperor has offered to reopen the Denizistani embassy in Ivoj Nob and to re-establish relations with Denizistan. The Emperor however explicitly refused to withdraw any of his previous statements regarding the Denizistani government and its policies in Maratanica. ---- The Imperial Senate has backed the executive's motion for the delivery of $50 million aid to South African refugees. As part of the bill also, a further $25million has been donated to Neo-Macedonia in order to help it deal with refugees, political support fully granted to the UN effort in the Limpopo with promises of logistical and further support if called upon by the UN. The final part of the bill agreed to the freezing of all South African assets in Syawla until normalisation. |

In a private ceremony at the Imperial Palace this evening, Emperor Jean was formally united in marriage to the Lady Lisa of Neo-Macedonia. A formal ceremony on October 4th was postponed due to recent tragedies in South Africa, however a formal inaugaration of the new Empress of Syawla is planned once the region has stabilised, in which it is hoped that the leaders of the region will attend for the ceremony and formal coronation of Empress Lisa as consort. The Emperor has left the capital this evening to spend time with his new wife in his country retreat to the north which is now heavily guarded. The Emperor plans to return to Ivoj Nob in 48 hours, due to the necessity placed upon him by recent events to the South, and so his honeymoon will be unfortunately very short. Before leaving the capital, the Emperor received word of his troops arrival just outside the Neo-Macedonian capital Acropolis. The armoured division and two corps of the Imperial Guard have been entrusted by the Emperor to the Neo-Macedonian royal family in the defence of their realm for the duration of hostilities against the RSA within Neo-Macedonia's borders. |

The Emperor has announced a new system for measuring significant achievement within Syawla in the establishment of the 'Notability' system. Individuals considered to have done great service either in the fields of government, diplomacy, armed service, scientific research or commercial enterprise are to be given by the Emperor solely titles as befits their achievement. A largely ceremonial role involving a great ceremony for becoming a 'Notable' the Emperor has stated that such a system will encourage achievement across and throughout Syawla. He has already conferred the titles of 'Comte De Beaumarche" and 'Viscomte d'Argenson upon two of his chief government advisors. |

The news of the excommunication of the Emperor has received mixed reaction across Syawla. Syawlan Catholics including Cardinals within the Catholic Church have announced their disgust and have shown their anger on the streets of Ivoj Nob's suburbs. Towards the center of the city however, the more atheistic population have declared their loyalty to the Emperor and violence between the two groups has erupted. The remaining Anglicans and Lutherans have taken the side of the Emperor creating 60% - 40% split inside the capital, in favour of the Emperor's supporters. The Lady Lisa has not commented but is said to be deeply distraught and is currently discussing the siuation in private with the Emperor. Outside of the capital, the Syawlan army has maintained order in the most militant provinces in the 'Catholic rim' running from northeast to southeast. Elsewhere, pageants have been organised by firm supporters of the Emperor with pope-effigies being burnt and anti-Papacy satire being spouted. The leaders of the Syawlan political parties have all declared their support for the Emperor except the Christian Coalition led by Marie Rochefauld-Foucault which has declared him a 'heretic'. Many CC supporters have been spotted stirring up anti-Imperial demonstrations. A warrant for the arrest of Rochefauld-Foucault has been drawn up by the Imperial Staff for the crime of inciting violence and disrupting the peace. |

Emperor Felipe calls upon the Holy League to make war on this heretic and schismatic, Emperor Jean of Syawla. The Catholic communion cannot rest until either Syawla is conquered and subued, and the unrepetent Jean Lee tried for his crimes against humanity and crimes against the Church. OOC information about th Empire: The current Emperor, Felipe is indeed an opportunist and coward who will do unpricnipled things in order to protect himself and further his own interests. His personal conversion to Catholicism is insincere, although his policy of Catholicizing the entire country will nevertheless result in the vast majority of South Africans accepting the Catholic faith within a few years. Eventually Felipe wil die and be replaced by his moody, sickly adult son Robert, a man of true principles and faith who would never use the Holy League to settle personal scores like Felipe is doing right now against Syawla. Robert will probably take the throne after my other RP, the Trilateral Commission war against Israel, has proceeeded for a few years IC. |

OOC: If Emperor Felipe continues to order the Holy League around like that then he may well find himself excommunicated. The Pope will not stand for someone taking his authority away from him. IC: CEN News Update "The news of the excommunication and interdict of Syawla was met with very mixed reactions throughout that land. Those of Catholic persuasion were almost wholeheartedly disgusted at the Emperor and pleaded for the forgiveness of the Pope. However, those who are not Catholic held celebrations in defiance of the Holy Father and in support of the Emperor of Syawla, including such herectical acts as burning effigies of His Holiness. The Emperor has yet to officially comment or repent for his serious sins, but his wife, the Lady Lisa, is thought to have been inconsolable and distraught at her husbands actions - herself being a sincere and true Catholic. The Church has denounced the arrest warrant for the leader of the CC Party in Syawla and has announced that all those Syawlans who die during the excommunication but in defence of the Church will be martyrs and their excommunication will be lifted." More updates to follow. |
