Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 JAFNA, Sri Lanka - In wake of the horrifying attack on Goa's City Hall, anti-Ammochostos sentiment has rekindled hatred and violence in some parts of the country. On Sunday, in the city of Dili in the demi-region of the Mentawai Islands near Synar, local Synarese burned down the houses belonging to four Ammochostosiot families, killing 12. Angry mobs in the region are also responsible for vandalizing cars and churches, mosques and temples where Ammochostosiots congregate. The relationship between the two peoples has always been one of distaste. The Synarese were also victims to arson in 1976 by Bhindu Kaloomapan, in which nobody was injured. In the city of Mumbai, also outside national jurisdiction and sovereignty, an elementary school was under attack on Tuesday by Maharaji rebels. A policeman and a teacher were both critically injured in the disturbance. The local authorities were able to gun down the rebels after 2 hours of fighting. Mumbai city commissioner Marathi Papayiotis has pleaded with President Angelisoú to intervene and send Ammochostosiot forces to the region. The president has maintained that he is seeking diplomatic relations with the Maharaji in order to bring peace to the region and cannot dispatch national forces to a region beyond its national sovereignty. At least 2,000 residents have left Mumbai in fear of a prolonged assault on the Ammochostosiots living there, making the already cramped conditions of the nation even more uncomfortable. Some residents have enlisted in a local militia to defend Mumbai against the Maharaji rebels, to the displeasure of our pacifistic ears. Friday, August 12th, 2005 GOA, Kerala do Norte - King Khumpur, a respected and powerful king among the Maharaji people, has responded to the call for peace made by the president. He explains the sentiment among his people is one of frightened retaliation, fearful that the powerful nation to the south might one day attack and conquer Maharajastan. Already has neighboring Malevolo taken a large tract of coastal land once belonging to the natives, and now millions of Ammochostosiot reside in Mumbai, nearly eclipsing the native population of that ever growing city. He asks that the sovereignty of his land be respected by asking that the Ammochostosiots of Mumbai leave. Upon hearing his bid, the president asked, "then why attack Goa?" "Perhaps my people felt that since you would not attend to the attacks that take place in Mumbai, an attack directly within your borders might stir you to respond to such a pressing issue." To which the president replied, "I have neither jurisdiction nor authority over the actions of the citizens who reside in Mumbai. They are there on their own accord and know well the length of my political arm. But for you to declare such an attack on the land that I do so preside as justified, I warn your people that such acts will not be tolerated and further activity within our borders will undoubtedly result in military action against your people." Tensions around the nation are high strung as the threat of war lingers in the air. The Maharaji might prove to be a formidable foe. But the president's will is iron strong and ready to defend a nation that is dear to himself and his people. Some politicians critized the president's comments as "menacing, and overtly defensive," as Calicut delegate Sinbad Khazeel put it. The decision to go to war is ultimately a decision the people will need to vote on if the time comes. |

EEN: Eastern Empire News The Sovereign commented today on the events unfolding within the nation of Ammochostos. This is an outraged. From what I can tell their president needs to take stronger measure to ensure his people peace and prosperity. If that means he needs to execute a few to show the others he means business than so be it. Let's just face it here, there are no measures that can be taken "too far" when it comes to ensuring peace within your borders. Sometimes you just have to show the populace what's good for them that's all. This has been an EEN report. |

Monday, August 15th 2005 In a surprise visit with the president yesterday, King Mabaghanivaag of the Karnatak extended a offer of cooperation against the Maharaji rebels. The Karnatak, the collective name for the tribes that inhabit the region bordering the majority of Ammochostos' northern frontier, have peacefully coexisted with the citizens of our nation for centuries, since they first settled the area in the 16th century from further north. The southern tribes have already formed the demi-region of Tamil Nadu do Norte, and comprise about 78% of the population of the city of Bangalore, which is nearing 10 million inhabitants. King Mabaghanivaag is the elected speaker of all the tribes, which number about 43. It is the consensus among the majority of the tribes to denounce the acts of terrorism by the hands of the Maharaji and offer an alliance to the people of Ammochostos in the event of war. The president was delighted in their offer, but replied that time was needed decide on the matter, as alliances might further anger the Maharaji as well as threaten the neighboring Andhra, with whom diplomatic relations are poor. However, as a measure to strengthen economic ties, the president was excited to say that outsourcing of a number of jobs to Karnatak and Tamil Nadu do Norte are underway as a means to pick up the nations' sloth-like economy. The plans are still in their blueprint stage, and much discussion over the matter will ensue in the next few weeks. Fighting in Mumbai was apparently halted this weekend, a sign that the Maharaji might be heeding the president's words cautiously. This weekend assemblypeople will draft a ballot as to if and when the people of Ammochostos would go war. Also on the monthly ballot is the topic of a National Language, as a means to unify the citizens of our nation. By many, this is seen as a strategic move in order to instill a sense of nationalism in the wake of international tensions. |

EEN: Eastern Empire News After hearing of the news from the nation of Ammochostos the Sovereign changed his view points. In an earlier report, the Sovereign criticized the Ammochostos President saying that he needed to strength his hold on his nation. This week however, the Sovereign had become sympothetic to the state of the nation of Ammochostos as reported saying: I see now that the nation of Ammochostos is terribly divided amongst itself. If it ever wishes to become a world player, it needs a stronger unification. The Eastern Empire would be more than happy to help out it's President in stomping out these terrorist threats and also in working better relations between himself and the tribes of which coexist within the nation and the government. It is my hope that with the Eastern Empires help, in less than a years time, Ammochostos can be a unified nation with a working central government. I await a reply from Ammochostos. No word yet on how the standing Ammochostos government will take the Sovereign's offer. This has been an EEN report. |

Saturday, November 5, 2005 DIEGO GARCIA, Maldives - Archaeologists have recently stumbled upon a 14th century cemetary on Ile Boddam, in the Salomon Atoll. The site, only a few yards from the existing 18th century French cemetary and church, is an important find because it proves that the islands were inhabited since atleast the 1300's, unlike the previously accepted 1522, when Portuguese explorers first discovered the islands. Different from a traditional Christian burial, the graves were very shallow, and circular mounds of dirt cover the bodies that lay beneath, usually of related persons. A dog is responsible for the find, having dug up a fibula and bringing it home to his owner, Tlagonkor. "When I see this bone, I know it no animal but a person," he said in his broken English. His find prompted anthropologists from Colombo University to investigate. An estimated 16 tombs are said to exist, each containing one to three individuals. Anthropologists have always been convinced the islands had been inhabited before the arrival of Europeans. "Earlier finds of stone tools on Danger Island supported this hypothesis, but with this concrete evidence, a more acurate sketch of the islands' history can be made," said Sinkrar Mehtani, the lead excavator on the team. As to the origins of the inhabitants, it is too soon to determine, but it is believed that they came from the more northerly Maldives, and initially the Indian subcontinent. The Maldives themselves, have been known to be inhabited since 1500 BC. This leaves a large timeframe of nearly 2000 years until the arrival of the first inhabitant to the Chagos Archipelago, a fact that archaeologist think highly unlikely. "If the Arabs were able to explore the Maldives by 947AD, then they would have surely found these islands soon after. Its quite likely these islands have been inhabited earlier, but very little remains due to the high water table of the islands and the fast rate of decomposition." The current inhabitants. which only number 1,752, have asked the site be left alone, as it is sacred ground. Oral tradition among the Chagonese tells the story of a couple, Agrim and Stellaptha, that came to the islands thousands of years ago and started a nation of their own after a great flood submerged their former country, quite similar to the story of Noah. As the Chagonese did not have a written language, all that remains of their history is their oral tradition and whatever archaeological remains that are found. |

Sunday, November 6th, 2005 AHMADABAD, Gujarat - Today, the people of Gujarat rejoice as their land becomes the ninth official state of the Democratic States of Ammochostos. A parade winded down Tirthankara Suparsva Avenue with nearly 10,000 spectators cheering on. The symbolic ceremony of statehood initiation, with the previous Executive General Rama Kuvalhartha handing over the deed of the land to the new Govenor Thikhe Sathiyo, took place at the Capitol building at the closure of the parade. Also, the unveiling of the new Gujarat flag stunned some spectators, as it bears the resemblance of the swastika of Nazi Germany. However, most onlookers were cheering on, as the symbol is of great importance in Hindu, Bhuddist, and Jainist traditions. President Angelisou, though quite busy preparing for the upcomming Presidential Election, paid a visit to ceremony and addressed the masses in a short greeting, ending with a "vote for me" tagline. The two other candidates for the presidency, Kumal Harinandansingh of Mumbai, and Sajida Abd Iftah of Kerala, were also at the ceremony, hopeful to gather votes as well. Now that the Gujarati people are citizens, this will be their first election, and nobody is quite sure of which side of the political spectrum they will swing. Meanwhile, efforts to quell any backlash resistance in the Maharashtra Territory are proving superb, with little to no incident in the past two weeks. Over the past month, there have been a reported 34 casualties as the result of terrorist activity in the Pune region. Joint efforts with Kasnyia seem to be working well, and border patrol has aprehended nearly 75% of trespassors. The Mandra kingdoms to the north of Maharashtra are said to be in a state of chaos as Kasnyian troops are on the lookout for rebels, those responsible for their own civil war. On the other hand, cordial relations between the Raja of Rajasthan, directly to the north of Gujarat and Ammochostos seem to assure a peaceful coexistance between the two nations. Lastly, plans to begin the Western Coastal Highway have been scheduled to commence following Election Day. It will stretch from the border with Scythirus (though there will be no point of which to cross between the two nations at this point) in the state of Gujarat, all the way south to Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). It will be one of the many issues for the newly elected president to get to work on. |

Saturday, November 19, 2005 JAFNA, Sri Lanka - Thursday's presidential election resulted in the appoining of the newly Kumal Harinandansingh, on the Independant ballot from Mumbai state. The results of the election are as follows: Angelisoú (Conservative Party) - 32% Harinandansingh (Independent) - 35% Abd Iftah (Libertarian Party) - 23% Moscaro (Democratic Party) - 8% The newly Gujarat state showed it's decisive polling power as it enabled "Hari", as he like to be addressed, to overcome Angelisou in what was a very close race. The president was slightly surprised by the results, but congratulated his opponent nonetheless shortly thereafter. "A new chapter begins for Ammochostos, and I can only hope that the chapter under my guidance will go down in history as noble and honorable," he said in an address to the public following the results. The young Hari, only 31 years of age, is not yet married; a fact that was almost certain to dissuade voters. "I was hoping my personal life would not take too much of a pull in ones decision, but rather my political record and my aspirations were I to rise to power," he told correspondants. Innauguration will take place on January 1, 2006. |

AMMOCHOSTOS OPENS ITS BORDERS! For the first time since it's conception as a sovereign nation, Ammochostos will open two gateways to it's neighbors for international traffic by land. The first will open to Rajasthan on the Royal Road in Gujarat; the second will open on the Eastern Coastal Highway in São Tomé on the border with Kasnyia. The bordertown of Altapira is slated to be the future hub for all Ammo-Kasnyian trade as the two nations are working to integrate the economic threads of the subcontinent. "I am greatly confident in the cooperation between our two mighty nations. Such a move will only strengthen ties between our neighbor and ally Kasnyia, who has been with us throughout the turmoil we've experienced," said an optomistic Harinandansingh. Topics in the trade negotiations include basic raw materials, Ammo. information technology, Kasynian automobiles, and transnational services such as banking and retail. As for the Indo-Ganges Trade, trade will only occur at the bordersite, and will be carried on a quite low-tech basis, as confidence in those neighboring nations (Rajasthan, Uttar, Punjab and Kashmir) is still growing. |

BANK OF INDIA Sunday, January 29, 2006 President Harinandansingh held the golden shears in his hands and snipped the red velvet cloth that hung strewn in front of the elegant edifice. "I hereby introduce the first in a line of novel, advanced and efficient commercial enterprise, the likes of which will rival any global banking establishment," he proudly proclaimed. And as the rope fell to the ground, crowds let out a cheer and the glass doors to the first Bank of India opened to it's first customers. "The establishment of this enterprise was twofold. One, to integrate the banking and expedience of available funds to all Ammochostosiots around the nation. The problem with our numerous local banks are naturally, their locale, rendering them inefficient if a customer from the Bank of Colombo wants to perform a transaction in Mumbai. It's just not convenient," says Willard Trondheidt, a financial analyst from Norway and now the Executive President of the Bank of India. "Secondly, establishing our branches in neighboring nations, particularly Kasnyia, and will serve to greatly facilitate trade and unite the Indian subcontinent." Simultaneously, after the ceremony at the headquarters in Bangalore, five other branches opened in Mumbai, Chennai, Jafna, Colombo, and São Tomé. Seven more locations are to open in the upcomming months in Ahmadabad, Goa, Kozhikode (Calicut), Madurai, Male, Porto Leste, Hyderabad, and Chitradurga, thereby integrating all the states of Ammochostos. Talks with neighbors will decide if and when branches are to be established within their own nations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In other news, the president is looking at ways to rearrange the politcal segments of the nation. Karnatak and Maharashtra, as landlocked states, are impoverished when compared to their neighbors that have a coast. Also, the question of language continuity in each state will affect the reorganization. |
