OOC: I think that a wicked RP is developing. I mean, if we can carry out the tension things for longer and not rush into war then it could be very good.

OOC:

Has anybody defined a Patriarch of Alexandria yet? I presume the Coptic Orthodox Church has a Patriarch there followed by most Egyrian Orthodox. I am assuming that this minister position is primarilly advisal, and thus, the Patriarch would be a decent choice.

If nobody has named one, name this one Kyrillos.

OOC: So Sheik Mohammed can review Kyrillos, could you perhaps give a brief description and bio of him?

I hadn't actually thought very much about him. I'll provide some information later today or tomorrow.

Patriarch Kyrillos is a native Coptic Egyrian, He is pious and holds to the traditional teachings of the Orthodox Faith. He is does not believe that, as a clergyman, he should have power in the government, but would be willing to advise the government on Orthodox reaction to various issues. While he hopes that all will find the Truth of Orthodoxy, he believes that members of other faiths should be treated respectfully.

I'm not really sure what other infomration you want.

We regret to inform you that, in light of recent events and additional study of the candidate, Sheik Saddam bin Mohammed has rejected Patriarch Kyrillos for the position of Minister of Orthodox Christianity.

Regards,
Minister of Diplomacy Chief Ambassador Omar ibn Zaid

OOC: This is basically a snub at RD because of the signing of the non-aggression pact with Catholic Europe

Well we haven't actually signed it yet...

And there's a very real chance you'll alienate many Egyrian Orthodox this way. Orthodox Syrians tend to look to Antioch, but for the Egyptians, Alexandria is the center of Church activity. If you know one thing about Coptic Orthodox, it is how much they love their Pope. So they probably would not look to fondly on a government they see as insulting their beloved leader.
