In a solemn ceremony in the Great Hall of Cologne, foreign ministers from Saxe-Coburg and Cologne signed a 5 year* non-aggression pact. The pact simply states that neither nation will declare war on each other in the period of 5 years, and will not interfere in each others' activities. This represents a diplomatic breakthrough between the two nations which have not had good relations over religious issues and boundary disputes in the Netherlands. But this non-aggression pact will ensure peace and stability in northwestern Germany for the time being. The government of Cologne has muted radical Catholic propaganda and eliminated anti-Saxe-Coburgian statements from sermons as a sign of good faith. *5 years IC = a few weeks or so OOC |
