The Very Model of a Modern Major General
|
I wanted to have an African nation as well as Wadj. This is not just supposed to be Wadj's counterpart in Africa. Its an entirely separate nation. Background: Royal Ethiopia is one of the most ancient kingdoms in the world. Its royal family, the Boghales, have been in power for over 1,500 years. It was a Jewish kindom at first, but converted to Christianity at about the same time as the Roman Empire. It has been Christian ever since. A parliament was instated in 1794, but the Emperor is still the supreme ruler of the nation. The government is relatively compassionate to the people, and freedom of speech is allowed, as long as it is not too inflammatory. Conventional Long Form: The Holy Empire of Royal Ethiopia Conventional Short Form: Royal Ethiopia Government Type: Monarchy, with some restrictions on royal power. Not quite a Constitutional Monarchy Capital: Selassie Administrative Divisions: (will be updated when added to map) National Holiday: Emperor's Birthday, currently May 4 Suffrage: 20 years of age, universal. Elections are held for legislative branch only Chief of State and Head of Government: Emporer Constantine II Cabinet: Ministers appointed by Emperor Legislative Branch: Bicameral Parliament, the Plebian House is elected by popular vote, the House of Nobles is made up of the Nobility of Royal Ethiopia Judicial Branch: High Court of 3 Judges appointed by the Emperor Economy: Mostly manufacturing, a large service industry as well. Ethnic Groups:Oromo 40%, Amhara and Tigre 32%, Sidamo 9%, Shankella 6%, Somali 6%, Afar 4%, Gurage 2%, other 1% Religions: The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is the state religion, but other religions are tolerated and have all the same rights as Ethiopian Orthodox. Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity 52%, Jewish 22%, Muslim 12%, Catholic 10%, Animist 3%, Other 1%. Languages: Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromigna, Guaragigna, Somali, Arabic, other local languages. |
