While the region watches Antioch and Genesis City, looking for the storm to break, a young man in a village somewhere in on the outskirts of the Resplendent Dawn waits for the sunrise. For generations, his family and others in this forgotten village have observed the Ritual of the Rising Sun every morning, never forgetting, offering their prayers to the Dawn, Resplendent in the glory of its light. This village never went through many of the changes in the rest of the empire; Christianity, Islam, modernism, none of these things are known here. As the Sun Dawns, the young man bows his head. "I bow to you, oh Resplendent Dawn, while the others have forgotten, we still remember." He continues the steps of the ritual, performing it flawlessly as his family had done for more than two millenia. "We are your people, and you are our god. Save us in this impending catastrophe, oh Glorious Sun." The Sun continues its ascent, and the young man finishes the ritual. He prepares to return home, and to help his parents with the day's labor. As he walks, the light grows around him. A voice: "Times have changed, but you still remember ME. Times have changed, but it is time that you save your people. The Light that I grant you will shine for all to see. Look what the Christians are about to do to this land!" The young man bowed with humility, went home, and said goodbye to his parents. The Resplendent Dawn beckoned, and he walked out of his village to do the work he had been born to do. |

Under the rules of this region, are we allowed to occasionally invoke Acts of God(s)? I know those are listed as godmodding under that one article, but hey - this is a pretty religious conflict. -Egyria |

Unlikely. His calling is different. However it is possible that he might come across the scene of a battle or convert a bunch of soldiers or something. Anything potentially contraversial will be discussed beforehand. |

OOC: You don't need to discuss anything before hand, as long as it is your own troups - St. Elizabeth Rose converted two nations to catholisism trough her evangelistic nature, Flaming Drag Queens came down with all matter of plagues, and was just waiting for the Pope's visit to be cured and converted (which he never did, by the way), and old Harumf was totally destroyed by a nuclear attack from an unnamed source. And, ya gotta believe, miracles do happen!! Also, if you want to pull some international hocus pocus, talk to me, I love a good storyline! |

OOC: Concerning potential supernatural events. The young prophet practices a highly ritualistic form of pagan magic, of a fictional tradition. Any potential spells or miracles will be portrayed in a manner such that it is unclear whether they have supernatural, rational or scientific explanations or if they are simply coincidences. I will ask beforehand if they are to impact any other nation. This story will be updated rather slowly, but it will start moving quicker until the war it will eventually become more important to my nation. |

As he walked through the valley in the darkness, the prophet said the prayer of moon's grace. His Majesty the Resplendent Dawn was sleeping, but His little sister was awake to protect those who asked. The prophet followed the badly kept path and saw civilization for the first time in days. After a quarter mile, he could see that it was a small town. He entered a hotel and asked for a room, and the receptionist, taken by his charm, allowed him to stay and eat at no cost to him. He went up to his room and waited for an hour. The girl from the reception desk brought him food and left after they had passed an hour. The youth ate his cold food as he watched the television, looking for another message. The blood of the Resplendent tribe was no longer recognizable. It had been scattered among the people of the Empire until the original tribe that had sung prayers to the Resplendent Dawn in the ancient times could no longer be seperated from the various peoples who had been united under their banner. When the Christians came, the celebrated the Resplendent Dawn, reinterpreting it as the Dawn of the Sun of Righteousness, who was their martyr-god Christos. But the prophet needed to find a sacrifice. Not necessarilly a pure-blooded one, but one whose ancestry shined like the sun, whom all would recognize as one owned by the Resplendent Dawn. The Resplendent News Network ran hilights from the coronation that had occured earlier that day. Emperor Melchior had been crowned, and Catholic Europe was angry, insisting that Emperor Amadeo was the emperor of the Resplendent Dawn. Let the Christians fight their petty battles, the prophet muttered, but I must find a worthy sacrifice to our Holy Sun to cleanse this defiled land. A worthy sacrifice? The prophet laughed. The next day he set out early. One must wake up early to hunt royalty. |

The prophet entered the nighttime place, where drinking and revelry and flirtation and all such delights occured. Where were the Christians he asked, with their asceticism? How did such place exist in their lands? Had neither their slain Rabbi, not the morbid death-cult that he spawned, touched the hearts of these men and women, who sought their fulfilment in drink and pleasure? The prophet sat down at the bar and drank something he enjoyed. He struck up a conversation with the bartender, and then began to talk with some of the men and women who were around. At first most people were disinterested, but slowly a cluster of people began to form around him, enraptured by his message of liberation. They smiled at the thought of a world where they were free to do as they pleased, free of petty wars and suffering. Delighted, many of them followed him outside when he left. "So," the young prophet began, "you wish to aid me in this task. You wish to rededicate this land to our great benefactor, the Resplendent Dawn? Then be quick. Find dry wood and build me an altar in the hills outside the city. Make haste, you must be finished by sunrise." |

The prophet sat on the hill looking across the plain. A small unit, bearing the standard of the Empire that blasphamously called itself "the Resplendent Dawn" was progressing toward another small unit of a foreign army. Neither group was very large, and seemed to have been seperated from the main body of their forces during some battle or other. The two looked as if they would enter combat. The prophet said a prayer. He moved to the dry grass, and started a small fire. He prayed to the Resplendent Dawn, preforming the motions of an old ritual, as observed the soldiers moving toward eachother. As they grew closer, he allowed his fire to grow larger. Battle was joined. A very small distance from the hill, the men fought, oblivious to the prophet and his large bonfire, started from the plants and wood that was in this area. The prophet said the final word of the ritual, turned his back and walked in the opposite direction from the army. As he walked away, it grew windy. He smiled and never looked back. The soldiers killed eachother as the wind shifted, blowing the raging blaze toward them. It grew until it had surrounded them, engulfing their petty violence in the violence of the natural order. There had only been a few men involved in this battle, nothing large enough to affect anything. Nevertheless, those men would fight no more. |

Rainfall. As the heavy rainstorm soaked his robes, the prophet tried to find shelter. It upset him that the rain cloud hid the face of His Majesty THE RESPLENDENT DAWN. As he made his way across the plains he found a small makeshift camp set up. He entered, only to have a gun pointed at him. Interrogations began. "Who are you? Why are you here? Do you work for Catholic Europe? Who sent you to us?" and other questions. The prophet grew annoyed. Who were these men? How dare they treat him like this, him, a messenger of the Great and Glorious Sun himself? He held the gaze of his interogator and said a small prayer. The storm grew vicious. Suddenly, the showdown was interrupted by a lightning bolt hitting the other side of the camp. Several machines exploded, and as the rain calmed down, fires began to spread therough the camp. The operatives in front of him were caught in the flames, but by his lord's grace, he was spared. As he turned to leave, he heard a small cry. Investigating, he beheld a child, whom many in the Empire would recognize easily. The child had been miraculously spared from harm, but was in obvious danger. "Come," spoke the prophet "Come and I will take you to safety. This is no place for a child." |

The huge column passed underneath slowly through the rain-soaked roads underneath the ridge. The Sergeant cursed, after all they had been trained in desert and mountain warfare over and over again. Their equipment and training did not deal too well with mud and water. Patrua overall was a torrid region and the area where they had successfully attacked New Harumf's troops too. Little currents passed his feet and fell down the ridge into other currents formed by the trails of the sandy coloured trucks and jeeps and tracked vehicles. While gusts of wind pressed the wet clothes against his chilly body. And the tree he stood under didn't provide much protection. How he longed to be back in Patrua! The column wrestled further and the Sergeant kept his post. A standard procedure but utterly useless here. This was friendly territory, Dawn territory. Here, the people cheered when the Patruan legionaries moved through, they brought them dates, pomme-grenates and water. They poured orange-blossom water over their hands as a sign of welcoming. He smalled his fingers, but the bloody rain had washed off the scent. No hostile forces would attack the convoy here. Lightning struck and in the sudden light flash, he saw a robed man standing. Instinctively he pointed his AK-47 towards the man, but noticed he had a soaked child with him and lowered it again. "You should not carry death in your hands, friend. Carry life." He pushed the child forward towards the Sergeant. He didn't really know what to do. The gusts grew stronger. "Do not hesitate to receive the fruit of His Radiant Majesty, the Resplendent Dawn." While the rain still fell, the intensity weakened and behind him, the evening sun suddenly broke through the clouds. Inevitably, a rainbow appeared over the robed man. The Sergeant continued to gaze at the person in front of him. "Who are you?" He asked confused. But the man smiled and answered. "You are all fighting for a false truth, but you can be redeemed. Exchange the tool of darkness you carry with you and accept the fruit of light." "I can call for the Medics if that child needs taken care of. We'll drop it off at the first hospital..." The man's complexion suddenly changed from smiling, friendly and placid to harsh, demonic and angry. "Very well then." He turned around and walked away as the skies closed again and the gusts grew harder. Hail replaced the rains and the Sergeant compelled to call back the stranger, put his arms around his body for warmth. He should have gotten his raincape from the Jeep before taking off for his post, but then the sun was shining. Another gust of wind broke off a branch of the three and knocked hard on the Sergeant's helmet. So hard that he involuntarily stepped backwards. The slippery ridge didn't provide enough grip and Sergeant Taranid died from a broken neck, his last thought being that of a shining sun. |
