Lol, that's what I wanted to hear! You people are very good at this!

That post was basically to announce the end of a chapter in Catholic Europe's history - and one which I have been working on for like over a year and so its an emotional end for me lol!

But seriously, there are some very potent clues in that post, about some things that will happen very soon and others which will take some more time to emerge.

Thomas has returned to New Rome from secret meetings to see his new son, and attend the christening. Rumor has it the Prince has recieved a very cold reception from the Queen. The Queen Mother was reported to have spent several hours in closeted communication with her son, Thomas. Bishop Laab is persona non gratas in the Royal Residence, and did not accompany the Prince Consort.

Meanwhile demonstrations in the streets of New Rome and have been spreading to other cities, with the largest gathering ever reported in New Jerusalem, where a pro-Catholic demonstration brought an estimated crowd of 3,500,000 people to the parks along the sea. Here things were mostly peaceful, and priests said mass, and attempted to deliver communion to the entire crowd. Prayers were also said for the Pope.

Jult out of curiousity, why is the Queen unhappy with Prince Thomas. Why is Bishop Laab not present and what did the Queen Mother chat about?

All will be explained, like now:

A Letter from Quen Filipa to the Pope, sent in secret:

My dearest Holy Father;

I fear and pray for your health, and I fear and pray for my nation. There is trouble brewing here. My once beloved Thomas may betray us, and Laab, that horrid Laab, and Thomas' own mother get their claws into him. I fear rebellion. I fear civil war. Thomas has begun to call the Church "my Church", and is referring to Laab as Cardinal. His mother ordered him to bed me, to make "our own Popes".

In horror, I denied my husband my bed, but, Holy Father, forgive me, he forced himself upon me, and beat me. Now, I fear I am pregnant again, but with unholy seed. I ask, I beseech of you, the permission to end this pregnancy, as I have great fear what his plans are with our Children.

In the name of our Dear Lord, Jesus Christ,

Filipa, Queen

My dearest daughter,

As you are fully aware, your older brother, His Holiness, Pope Miguel II, is dangerously ill at this moment in time and so I have chosen to write to you in this dark hour.

I spoke to my son and he has given me instructions as to what should happen. We are very concerned with your safety. Bishop Laab and Queen Margaret are evil people who have killed two members of our very own family, our own flesh and blood - King Emmanuel Rose and King William. They will stop at nothing to achieve their ambitions and we must make sure that we are always prepared against their evil plans.

However, you must not resort to such an evil murder, a murder of an innocent, in the face of such adversaries. Not only it is a grave sin but it would given ammunition to the evil two to get rid of you - for killing a grandhchild would not be taken lightly.

I urge you to send my grandchildren to Catholic Europe, so they may live with me, far from harm and under the protection of the Army og God. You, however, are to be our beacon of light in that troublesome nation. You must remain and ensure that the memory and legacy of St. Pope Emmanuel I and St. Elizabeth Rose is not forgotten or blasphemed against. You must ensure that schism does not occur.

Remeber your sister, Queen Anna, who died for our cause. Remeber your first husband, King William, who was a true and good Catholic. You must not despair and make rash decisions which would spell the end for all. Send the children to Catholic Europe and we will look after them.

I pray that St. Elizabeth Rose guides you and aides you in her nation, in order to ensure that her good works continue and that no-one wounds the Holy Catholic Church of which she is a devout member.

With my dearest and most heartfelt love, I pray God blesses you with healthy children.

Your mother
Queen Matilda

And then there was one

With the accession of Crown Prince Cristiano of the South, second son of King Amadeo II and Queen Maryam, as Pope Cristiano VI, the question over the succession in the Southern Kingdom was suddenyl swept to the forefront of Catholic European domestic politics.

When the two were first married, by St. Pope Emmanuel I all that time ago, they promised to bear many fruit and although they did bear fruit, they are now only left with a daughter.

To begin with the Royal Southern Couple seemed to be madly in love, quickly producing their first child, Amadeo (who would be crowned by his uncle, Pope Fernando I, as Emperor Amadeo I of the Resplendant Dawn) not long after they had been married. However, as time went on, they seemed to lose interest in eachother. Two more children followed, a boy and a girl named Cristiano and Maryam respectively but then the flow stopped.

There have been a number of rumours that Queen Maryam had to undergo surgery following Princess Maryam's birht, which rendered her infertile. These are all rumours really. Dr. Zhivago believes that this is what happened for so few children and the reasons for the current succession problems:

'Queen Maryam and King Amadeo II, afte the birth of Princess Maryam, spent much time apart from eachother on extremely important foreign business. Coupled with Queen Maryams problems, this meant that one meeting every now and then would not be enough to procure a pregnancy. Then, with the biological clock fast ticking away it was far too difficult to conceive again, leaving them with only three children.'

This has created a wedge between the Royal Couple as they spend a lot of time apart, King Amadeo II travelling and ruling his vast lands whilst Queen Maryam spends a lot of time with her mother-in-law, Queen Matilda and in Cyprus visiting her parents.

However, all was fine until Emperor Amadeo I was killed in the Resplendant Dawn (along with Pope Fernando I). The heir to the Southern Kingdom was gone, with the new heir destined for the papacy the issue of the succession became a very important one. This is because Princess Maryam will never be able to become monarch in her own right - she is barred by Salic Law.

This was kept very quiet, with Pope Cristiano VI being titled as the heir to the South - until his accession to the papacy after the death of his sickly uncle, Pope Miguel II. The question now had to be answered, lest the most powerful kingdom in all of Catholic Europe fall.

An official announcement from King Amadeo II is expected soon but commentators have already speculated on what they believe will happen. Many have suggested that Amadeo II will follow the correct route of succession by going to the next eldest brother. As this was Pope Celestine VI, who has been dead for a number of years, without issue, the succession has fallen to Prince August and his heirs. Prince August too is dead and so his son, Duke August, is thought will be named heir apparent.

Some commentators have also suggested that Princess Maryam and Duke August, cousins, will be married to ensure Queen Maryam gets her inheritance as the only child of the most powerful monarch.

News Report from Elizabethtown, Amish Terratory, New Harumf:

In an unbelievable set of events today, the Amish Cleric Laab has declared himself Cardinal Laab, leader of the Amish Conservitive Catholic Church, and announced a schism with Genesis City. Immediately after that, Prince Thomas appeared with the self-proclaimed Cardinal, and was crowned King Thomas of New Harumf. Laab also declaired him the secular leader of this new church, and the final authority over all Catholics in New Harumf.

The "King" then addressed the crowd:

"The Papists in Genesis City have once again dragged New Harumf into war, by influencing your Queen to such a degree that she has had a nervous breakdown, and attempted to hand over our kingdom to the Pope. This cannot, and will not be allowed. I beseech every true-blooded New Harumfian and Mary to take up arms, and overthrow this poor, diranged woman before we are reduced to nothing but Papist puppets. The time to act is now, therefore I am declaring a Holy War against Catholic Europe, and ask that all loyal Harumfians join the forces of the allience against CE. First, we must take back New Jerusalem, then we must topple to Pope."

The crowd went wild.

(Picture of a heleocopter leaving the Royal Residence)

In other news, Queen Filipa has sent her two eldest children, Prince William and Princess Elizabeth Rose, off to Genesis City, as protectorates of the Papal Court. We understand that officials urged her to make this move to keep the royal children out of harm's way.

OOC: Theory has it that Thomas was pretty much brainwashed by both Cardinal Laab and his Naggian up-bringing. He still considers himself catholic, but because the Queen has entered the war, his Harumfian patriotism emerged, and he's pulled an Henry VIII! Don't count on support for the Papacy from him.

Queen Filipa is very popular with the people, especially the non-Amish. 80% of the Non-Amish support the Queens position, but 95% of the Amish people oppose her. Ergo, civil war!! Unfortunately CE is too busy with problems of its own to come to her aid.

Okay, that makes sense....especially consdering that Thomas may harbour secret hatred for Catholic Europe. This would be because William and Carol were so favoured by King Emmanuel Rose, and were so specially treated by Catholic Europe and the Popes. Whereas, for him, he was treated probably quite badly by his favour and, at best, the Papacy has only been lukewarm to him and, most of the time, has viewed him as a very suspicious character (he was the cause of the death of Queen Anna).

PRINCESS MATILDA'S PRE-MARITAL PREGNANCY?

It seems that the endless series of hardships that befell Princess Matilda, the consort of His Benevolent Majesty, the Glorious Prince of Patrua, Prince Gravir Marshall, has reached the end of the tunnel. And what is the light blinding, for nothing less than a baby is the reward! Indeed, Princess Matilda is pregnant.

The news comes from our reporter Ivan Nadder who has been on station within the crowds of Matilda-fans that throng outside Saint Mary's Cathedral in Zephyros every Sunday when Her Highness attends mass.

His camera was unfortunately smashed by the brutal Imperial Police Corps that is massively present together with the Imperial Guard to escort Her Majesty and keep the fans at bay. Ivan had to go to hospital after having been manhandled by the weapon-wielding goons, taking several truncheon hits to the head, resulting in a stiched eyebrow, but he was still able to do his story.

"Her Highness was wearing a black, wide ensemble. Black because of the mourning, wide probably to hide the emerging belly. But the square in front of the Ctahedral is pretty windy and Her Highness was just going up the stairs, when the wind pressed the wide clothing up against her front, revealing a protruding belly. Now, the Princess has been mostly mourning and She is quite thin, so I'd say that there's a child on the way. Some of the other fans have been discussing this for weeks and it's a main topic of discussion on their internet forum. I think they cannot longer hide this from the public."

At the Imperial Palace, the press service replied evasively that 'If Her Majesty has something to confer to the press, that She will do so at Her convenience.' For Celeb Magazine, this is only postponing the inevitable. With our excuse for the lack of pictures, a get well for Ivan and congratulations to the Princess.

OOC: Considering that New Harumf has decided to leave Queen Filipa is not dead, instead she has left the former nation of New Harumf to escape the chaos that has befallen that nation. Her children live with her.

And RD, I would appreciate it if you didn't imply that I caused the departure of New Harumf. <_<

LA PIETÀ DI PATRUA

Caputa (PPA)
After the innumerable suffering Princess Matilda underwent after losing several family members and seeing her nation razed by the War of Succession, a massive blow has devastated her once again. Not only did She lose all of her family bar her mother, on top of that an nuclear bomb was dropped on Genesis City.

With a death toll of over forty million, among which nearly all of Her Majesty's family and material damage beyond belief, Her motherland has come out of the War of Succession mutilated, maimed and beheaded. The rule of the royals is as good as over, with the small remainder of the Catholic European monarchy interned awaiting trail. One of them is Princess Matilda's mother, Queen Matilda, her namesake parent. She is generally seen as the mastermind behind Catholic Europe's more imperialist policies that also lead to the War of Succession. Doctors had feared the worst for her baby now Her Highness is being torn apart by excruciating grief and sorrow. But showing remarkable vitality and in spite the 'rebellious' nature that characterized Her and estranged Her from Her family, Princess Matilda reportedly will leave for the Resplendent Dawn to visit the one family member She has been left with, the grandmother to her unborn child.

Many Patruans sympathize with the unfathomable loss the frail Princess carries with admirably serene dignity. With the nuclear devastation over Genesis City, this admiration and compassion has only risen. An Imperial Palace spokesman admitted that "many thousands of letters, gifts and flowers are flooding the Imperial Palace on a daily basis." A new Imperial Mail Manager was hired to deal with Princess Matilda's fanmail only. nevertheless, such public love and support will be a drop of sweet water in an ocean of tears. Princess Matilda is the modern Pietà. But unlike Michelangelo's statue, she does not mourn the loss of a son. She mourns the loss of an entire family and that of an abstract number of fellow countrymen. And yet, while fortune has now shot its heaviest of guns at Her, she trudges on, sorrowed and grieved for the rest of Her life but unyielding to what would have brought the bravest among us to our knees. She is Princess Matilda the Brave, Princess Matilda the Saint. Paragon to dignity, strength and survival. Against all odds.

Isn't it ironic how a Catholic European can become such a loved figure in Patrua. I sort of see her as like a Princess Diana character in a way.

I'm curious as to how Queen Matilda will react to Princess Matilda. On the one hand the Queen is a devout, militant Catholic, the CE mastermind, greeting her daughter, pregnant out of wedlock with the Patruan Prince, having spent the whole war in Patrua. On the other hand, the Queen is a woman who has just been through hell, and Matilda is one of her only remaining children.
