Another one bites the dust Another Southern Royal dies It all started out so well for the Southern Family. 20 healthy children, all of excellent Royal pedigree and blood. Marriage after marriage ensured that, along with control of the Papacy, the Family would rule Catholic Europe completely - and even numerous foreign nations. But, it has all come crumbling down. Recently, Queen Anna, a young daughter and the 15th child of King Fernando II and Queen Matilda, who was married very briefly to the bizarre King Thomas of New Harumf, was stabbed to death by her brother-in-law and her sisters ex-husband, King William. The tragedy was just another in a recent long line of tragedies and set-backs for the Souther Royal Family. Until recently, everything had been great for them. They had control of the most powerful Kingdom in Catholic Europe, had control of the Papacy, control of the North, East and West kingdoms through marriage and overlordship. Cyrpus and Genesis City had even come under their control as well as various kingdoms throughout the region via marriage. However, the curse that has struck them so often recently started with the death of Pope Celestine VI, the first child of the Southern Royal family to die. A breakdown in international relations then followed and War. However, this was not necessarily the end, although two sons who had been exiled by the family (Prince Leopold and Prince Alfonso) had been mysteriously killed. But, as time went on, the descendants of King Fernando II and Queen Matilda began to find themselves in more and more trouble. There was the situation in New Harumf, where Queen Anna has died as well as Queen Filipa's husband, King William. Princess Matilda became the first Southern daughter to be exiled by her family for her relationship with Prince Gravir of Patrua. Grandchildren died of disease and mysterious illness, whilst the biggest blow came when Pope Fernando I was killed and his nephew, Emperor Amadeo I, son of King Amadeo II (the eldest Southern child), was kidnapped. This represented the curse which has struck the Southern Family after their long reign of success. The election of Prince Miguel, a weak, sickly and disabled Southern child as Pope Miguel II has only exasperated the situation. As a result, this Pope who is always close to death, has, indirectly, placed the lives of his remaining brothers in immense danger. King Amadeo II has been forced to go to the Resplendant Dawn himself to look for his son whilst Prince August, the fifth eldest Souther child, has become Commander of the Armed Forces - meaning that he will have to travel to the Resplendant DAwn and take an active role in fighting. Time will only tell if the Southern Family will be able to recoup their losses and regain their once immense power and influence - which seems to have deserted them in their time of need, being replaced by death and decline. |

As Monty Python might have said regarding the Southern Kingdom's family, "We're not dead yet." Last evening, Queen Filipa gave birth to, yes, you guessed it, twins. A boy and a girl. All are healthy. The boy is named William, and the girl is named Elizabeth Rose. Prince consort Thomas imediately adopted the children as his own. |

OOC: New Harumf, I did a little genealogy type thing with the South Family and funny thing is that the first child I gave to Filipa was a boy named William! If you are interested, I gave Filipa 10 children (all of them have names). Wondered if you wanted to carry that on or not. |

Sultana Maryam, wife of Sultan Suleiman of Wadj, has died today. When the Sultana heard that her son, Crown Prince Abdul, was a member of a sick and twisted cult, she collapsed with a heart attack. After the invasion of Wadj by New Harumf, the Sultan and his family were whisked away to An Najm. The Sultana died because of a combination of her weakness after her heart attack, and the strenuousness of fleeing Wadj. Sultan Suleiman was crushed at the news. In other news, Abdul, former Crown Prince of Wadj, escaped in the commotion following the invasion of Wadj by New Harumf. He has disappeared into the Waji wilderness. |

Queen Matilda, the Queen Mother, sends her condolences to the Sultan. She too knows the pain of losing a spouse and the terrible things it can do to the remaining family members - the damage and destruction that can follow as a result of their departure. The funeral of Sultana Maryam will be held in Sindh today. The combined shock of finding out that her son, the former Crown Prince Abdul, and the invasion of New Harumf caused her to die. She was a kind woman, notable for working to help ease the poverty of the less fortunate in Wadj. She was an idealistic woman, who always put others before herself. She held herself to the strictest of moral standards, yet was willing to forgive the lapses of others. She was a kind, caring and compassionate woman who will be missed greatly by all of Wadj, but by no one more than her loving husband Sultan Suleiman. Any nation is welcome to send a representative to the funeral. |

Below is here:
Also Nag Ehgoeg would like to send a representative to Wadj. Our Red Cross could take a Dawnian rep out of the country safely - if that is a concern. But understand that in these trying times you may need all your political minds focused. The same offer is made to Catholc Europe, of course. |

We would be willing to take Nag Ehgoeg's offer, and send one of a representative to the funeral. However, the Emperor and his Ministers will be unable to attend, for as Nag suggested, they have to remain focused on the current situation. |

WNN: Wadji News Network The funeral of the beloved Sultana Maryam was held today in Sindh. The Qashi Mosque downtown was filled with mourners. The Wadji people filed past the coffin of their beloved Sultana, some leaving flowers or small tokens of appreciation. The eulogy was given by Sultan Suleiman himself. Here is a brief excerpt: "Sultana Maryam was a kind and compassionate woman, who constantly worked to help others. She created the Wadji Literacy Fund, an organization dedicated to ensuring that everyone in Wadj could read. She opened shelters for the homeless and contributed to funds that helped the poor. Her hard work in these endeavors has helped to make Wadj a better, stronger nation. Her kindness and generosity were not only reserved for the public's eye. She was a loving wife and mother. She was as dedicated to her family as she was to her charity work. Maryam was also a great lover of the arts. She founded and participated in the Wadji Symphony Orchestra. She played the Viola. She also founded the Wadji Cultural Orchestra, a group dedicated to playing songs by Wadji composers and also Wadji traditional works. She donated many works to Art Institute of Sindh, and funded the creation of an entirely new wing of the museum. She was a great woman, and all of Wadj mourns her death." After the Sultan spoke, the religious leaders of Wadj each said a few words about the Sultana. After the funeral the Sultan and the international delegates returned to the Palace for a private reception. Sultana Maryam was a person of impeccable morals who will be sorely missed by the Sultan and his people. |

CELEB MAGAZINE Posted Image Princess Matilda prays for deceased family members in Saint Mary's Cathedral Princess Matilda mourns dead brother and nephew The last couple of weeks brought almost unbearable loss for Princess Matilda, the runaway member of the Southern Royal Family and sister to the former Bishop of Rome, Fernando. Her life started of so well: member of the most powerful royal house in Catholic Europe, kin to the Bishop of Rome and to the would-be kings and queens of New Harumf and Resplendent Dawn and she herself had found love in the arms of Prince Gravir, son of the Patruan Emperor and third in line for the throne. But then it seemed as if everything turned around and only disaster struck the family. The War of Succession broke out, and the small Resplendent Dawn defied the powerful Bishop of Rome. New Harumf sided with Catholic Europe but Patrua, the home country of her sweetheart Prince said it would defend the Resplendent Dawn if necessary. What she feared happened, Catholic Europe called Patrua's cards and found itself soon at war. Prince Gravir, who was due to fulfil his military service, was enlisted under the worst of conditions and disappeared behind the doors of the Imperial Military Academy. Their love was stronger than that and as if a modern fairytale, she chose to suffer the anger and severing of the links with her family and flee to the country of her beloved partner. But the plight was not over yet. While the Imperial Family and entourage of the Imperial Palace did all they could to make her comfortable as possible, she quietly underwent the aching anguish of home sickness and the excruciating miss of her Prince in service. And then fate had more in store for her already tormented heart. Queen Anna of New Harumf was killed after earlier, King William had suffered death through poisoning. New Harumf left the war soon after, leaving Catholic Europe bewildered and isolated behind in a war that had not been going as planned anyway. Then, during a procession in a captured city, her brother, the Bishop of Rome was assassinated. While King Amadeo II -the former crown pretender to the Resplendent Dawn- took off to look for his son Amadeo I -the one they he put forward as only other potential heir to the Resplendent Dawn throne- in person, the War of Succession took another change for the worse for the troops of her native country when they lost Nichopolis, the largest city they had conquered during the already short-lived campaign. Then the worst news struck as the boy Amadeo I, her nephew, was found ritually massacred by Dawnsian Catholics. Princess Matilda was frequently seen in Saint Mary's Cathedral in Zephyros, the principal Catholic church of Patrua's Catholics and the seat of Cardinal August, who reportedly supports her spiritually. Completely dressed in black and with a black veil, she has shown dignified bearing of hardships that would have made any other mortal collapse. A growing group of members of her fanclub have been keeping post near the Cathedral's entrance and her tremendous suffering and mythical love-affair have quickly made her one of the most popular members of the Imperial Family. Silently they try to support her now fate and fortune have all but abandoned her and her family. |

End of an era Weeping for her losses Its a dark room all around except for one corner, which is lit up by candlelight, illuminating a statue of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus - such a popular statue in this most devout of places. The Virgin Mary looks radiant as light bounces of her porcelain cheeks, and the Holy Baby looks divine as He is cradled by His Mother. But, whilst everything seems so splendid and happy, things are not. All around the statue are numerous candles. They start of with 20 large ones at the top then, below that, there are 93 small candles. Some of them are alight, some are not. Exotic flowers and precious jewels adorn and wrap around the candles as they burn so brightly. The scene is only broken by the sound of a weeping elderly woman, every now and then muttering, in sobs, prayers in an ancient tongue. At the foot of the statue kneels, on both legs, a small but proud elderly woman. She is barely visible for she is dressed completely in black, her head covered in a long mantilla, patterned with flowers and other beautiful designs. Her long black dress completely covers her as the floor merges into her body. Next to her lays a picture, barely visible for the lack of light but, of what can be seen, a grand, majestic and beautiful man stares back. A proud man, dressed in full regalia and full of hope, ambition and courage. Every now and then her hand jots down to stroke it, as she mutters more prayers. From time to time, a glint of light can be seen hitting small golden balls from her rosary as she prays more and more fervently. Her mutterings increase into comprehendable words...'dominus tecum, benedictatu in mulieribus'... And then, she breaks down into tears, muttering numerous amounts of names, the list goes on ...'Leopold....August....Amadeo....Anna...Matilda...Fernando...Celestine'... she repeats to herself over and over again, gripping tightly to her golden rosary beads. And then, she goes back into prayer, every now and then lifting her head piously to the Glorious Statue. Footsteps can be heard from afar, but she doesn't move or budge, locked into a trance of complete devotion, prayer and meditation. Finally, she reverts into English...'please Holy Mother, pray for my fruit and pray for me, so that I may not lose everything'... Just then, a door opens ever so quietly and slightly, a light penetrates into the blackness, just illuminating the head of the elderly woman where some jewels, hovering above the top of her head, shine brilliantly back, sparkling like the most expensive of diamonds. The old woman turns around quickly and then returns and finishes her prayer, demanding no disturbance from the younger woman who has just entered the room. She does the sign of the cross as she finishes and can be seen wiping a tear away from her face. She kisses the feet of the Blessed Mother and then stands up majestically. The younger women, also dressed in black with a black veil, approaches the older woman with some caution and perhaps even fear but also of respect and adoration. She bows down low and speaks to the elderly woman....'your son is gravely ill'.... The elderly woman grabs her rosary beads with one hand and with the other hand the arm of the young woman. She is clearly distressed and she is helped, slowly, out of the dark black room, still to be heard muttering a prayer in that ancient tongue. The statue, as ever, remains radiant and serene amongst the candlelight, despite the obvious heartache and sad emotion that this room had just harboured. A slight wind blows ever so softly but it is enough. The 9th candle on the top row dies out. A tear drops down, the smallest of tears but a tear nonetheless. If you look hard enough at the face of the Queen of Heaven, under her beautiful, Immaculate, brown eyes, a tear drop can be seen to have formed with just the slightest hint of red. |
