The monarchs thread

Okay, okay. I've created this thread because a number of times I have wanted to post 'articles' that are about the monarchs (specifically, in my case, of Catholic Europe). However, I haven't done this because I've not had a thread to put them into (and I don't wish to create a 'mini-thread' which would only be posted in once).

But, with a monarchs thread', it will be less 'wasteful' and will enable me (and others) to post 'articles' on the monarchs in a suitable thread, for example: this thread could be used to discuss and follow the relationship between Princess Matilda and Prince Gravir, the marriages of Prince and Princess Carol of New Harumf to Princess Filipa and Prince Carlos of the South etc.

I am going to post some 'articles' later. :D

Other nations with monarchies can also post in this thread (i.e: Patrua).

Princess spends week with foreign Prince

Princess Matilda, eldest daughter of the deceased King Fernando II and Queen Matilda as well as the sister of King Amadeo II, Pope Celestine VI and Pope Fernando I, today returned back to Genesis City after her latest break with Prince Gravir of Patrua.

Her Royal Highness, also known as Princess Holiday for her many luxurious trips with Prince Gravir, returned looking refreshed and serene. Her latest trip, thought to have been to 'Palm Island' off the coast of Paradise-administered UAE, is just one in a long line that have been spent solely with Prince Gravir and a few attendants.

However, the couple have been very discrete and firm evidence of a proper relationship between the two has been hard to get considering the disgrace the news would bring to both families (particularly the Catholic Europeans) and the fact that Prince Gravir is meant to be at the Imperial Succession conference in the Resplendant Dawn.

Princess Matilda and Prince Gravir have not spoken about their suspected romance and, despite rumours that King Amadeo II confirmed their relationship to an attendant, no official confirmation has been given.

What is known, however, is that the controversy resulting from any announcement of their relationship will be massive and not necessarily enthusiastic, particularly from Catholic Europeans.

CEN State News Update

"With the death of the young King Aneglo II of the North, who had just only entered into his majority after his uncle, King Amadeo II's, regency the North Kingdom is effectively no more.

Due to Salic Law, meaning that no woman can inherit a kingdom, Pope Fernando I, not wishing to see his neice cheated out of her inheritance has created the North Kingdom an archduchy, subservient and part of the South Kingdom. However, it will be a virtual autonomous region with the ruler being the Archduchess Teresa.

Furthermore, in order for her to become a Queen she was betrothed to her cousin, and son of King Amadeo II, Prince Cristiano, who is considered to be the Crown Prince and thus heir of the South Kingdom. However, this is not confirmed because King Amadeo II does not wish to disinherit his children from the throne of the Resplendant Dawn."

CEN News Update

"Despite the current tensions and, effectively, war raging between Catholic Europe and the Resplendant Dawn, preparations for a double wedding of the youngest son and daughter of King Fernando II and Queen Matilda have begun.

The wedding of Princess Filipa, who will marry Prince William of New Harumf, and Prince Carlos, who whill marry Princess Carol of New Harumf is due to take place on Friday at the Maria Cathedral. Pope Fernando I, the elder brother of Princess Filipa and Prince Carlos, will conduct the marriage and it is expected that the Royal Couple of New Harumf will attend as well as the King Luis I of the East, cousin to Princess Carol and Prince William and brother-in-law to Princess Filipa and Prince Carlos."

It has been rumored that Bishop Laab, the mysterious and elusive newly elected bishop of the Amish Conservitive Catholic Church, will be accompanying Queen Margaret to the wedding as a representative of the Amish community of New Harumf. The Bishop's eccentricities (particularly his insistence in wearing a kilt at all times) has raised many eyebrows since his arrival at court in New Rome, and there are questions about just how close he is to the Queen, since she never appears in public without this advisor at her side.

CEN News Update

"Today is the day that Prince Carlos and Princess Filipa will be married to Prince William and Princess Carol of New Harumf. Despite all the recent events that have happened in Cyprus and the Resplendant Dawn, His Holiness Pope Fernando I will officiate at his younger brother and sisters wedding.

The 4 have been betrothed to each other for a number of years now and the double marriage will further cement ties political, religious and blood further. It is thought that all major Catholic European and New Harumfian dignatries will attend, as well as, Prince Gravir of Patrua - though this has yet to be confirmed due to the current tensions between Patrua and Catholic Europe/New Harumf.

The ceremony is expected to take place in just under 3 hours time at the Maria Cathedral in Genesis City - where all marriages of the Southern Royal Family have taken place.

The coronation of Prince Carlos and Princess Carol as Archduke and Archduchess of Cyprus will also take place. It is also rumoured that Princess Filipa will become Archduchess of Genesis City and her husband, Prince William, will become a Duke of Genesis City. This is, however, yet to be confirmed."

More updates to follow.

OOC: New Harumf, is Prince William the heir apparent to the throne? Will he become King William I? I need to know this because if he is to become King I will not make Filipa an Archduchess.

OOC: Prince William has been declaired the heir to the throne of New Harumf by official joint decree from the King and Queen. Whether he actually takes the throne, only time, and the turns of the wheel of fate can tell.

--- A Patrua Press Agency Release ---

The Herald

MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR

Caputa (PPA) A Prince and a Princess that defy their warring custodians. It could very well be the scenario for a Walt Disney motion picture. Patrua and Catholic Europe haven't been on good terms in a long time, but it has seldomly reached the abysmal depths of today. While the nations they belong to quarrel ever more harshly, Princess Matilda's and Prince Gravir's love seems to grow ever more strongly.

Prince Gravir's representational mission came to a close earlier this month when the Imperial Succession talks in the Resplendent Dawn were cancelled due to the political and military pressure of Catholic Europe. But His Beloved Excellence did not stay home for long. Despite probable vehement opposition of the Imperial Family and the Imperial Council, the Prince left for Genesis City to be at the double marriage His love had to attend. The relations with Catholic Europe, which had slowly been recovering from Pope Emmanuel's rule, hit rock bottom again after the Papacy tried to force an illegal occupant to the throne of the Resplendent Dawn. In its non-negotiating attitude, Catholic Europe offended His Most Benevolent Majesty, the Emperor of Patrua, Marshall XIX by stating they do not recognize Him as an Emperor but rather treat Him as a King. The father of Prince Gravir was most unsettled by this very personal attack and replied that henceforth until the recognition of the Emperor's title, the leader of Catholic Europe will reciprocally be recognized and treated as a mere bishop.

The couple however seem to be untouched by the antagonism and belligerence that plagues the two nations. Undoubtedly thanks to their position, they manage to keep meeting and attract ever more fans of their love story that blooms against all odds. A new hurdle is appearing in the distance though as Prince Gravir shall soon be summoned to fulfill His military service. If war breaks out, dark days may be ahead for the couple.

CEN News Update

"Prince Carlos and Princess Carol and Prince William and Princess Filipa, were married today in a lavish double-wedding at the Maria Cathedral in Genesis City.

Both brides, wearing traditional white and gold with heavy white veils, looked stunning. The grooms, veiled in black as is custom, were ideals of young men. Pope Fernando I, brother to Prince Carlos and Princess Filipa, officiated the traditional Latin Catholic ceremony which took just over 2 hours. Both couples were married at the same time by His Holiness, in an unusual ceremony.

Many people from Catholic Europe and New Harumf attended, including Queen Margaret, Princess carol and Prince William's mother and husband to King Emmanuel Rose. Along with her advisor, Bishop Laab, she arrived just a few hours before the wedding but met up with her husband, who she has not seen for some time. Rumour has it that there was some tension between the two but they put on a very good public show of unity at their childrens wedding.

Prince Gravir of Patrua could also be seen in the Cathedral, sitting next to his 'partner', Princess Matilda, sister to Prince Carlos and Princess Filipa. We wonder what he thought as he endured a 20 minute sermon by Pope Fernando I, brother of Princess Matilda, preaching the evils of Patua and the Resplendant Dawn. However, the rest of the congregation were very enthusiastic and applauded loudly at the end.

Finally, after the marriages had been blessed, Prince Carlos and Princess Carol, now husband and wife, were coronated as Archduke and Archduchess of Cyprus. The ceremony, which included crowning the two of them with a small crown, lasted 1 hour as prayers were offered up for their safe rule in a volatile land. All people ranking below and Archduke then paid homage to Prince Carlos and Princess Carol and, as a sign of humbleness, Pope Fernando I and their nephew, Emperor Amadeo I, also paid homage.

The couples then went of to the Emmanuel Palace, newly built, for their reception where around 600 guests will be attending."

New Harumf Public Radio:

"The wedding of the decade was spactacular, and utterly moving. Both brides and grooms were pictures of perfection as they took their vows, and King Emmanuel Rose and Queen Margaret were openly weeping while they held each other's hands.

The coronation of the Archduke and Archduchess of Cypress was a more understated affair, but the look of pirde on the King and Queen's faces was obvious, as was their love for each other, in spite of their long seperation.

There was one social snaffu: Bishop Laab, upon entering the reception, headed directly to the lavious buffet table intended for Patuan guests, and immediately started stuffing himself with roast lamb, apparently forgetting that it was Good Friday, and the eating of meat is prohibited for Catholics. Queen Margaret quickly acted to diffuse this fohpah by rushing to the Bishop's side with a plate of cheeses and Peacock eggs, and removing the meats from him. King Emmanuel appeared to be very disturbed by the whole affair, and disappeared for at least an hour with Prince Gravir, before returning in a more composed state.

The rest of the evening went perfectly, and the King and Queen took several turns on the dance floor together."

Pope Fernando I is shocked at the grave mistake of Bishop Laab in eating meat on Good Friday. As a Bishop, and the highest ranking eccesiastical official in the Amish Lands, he should have known that eating meat on such a Holy Day was prohibited.

His Holiness expects much higher standards from his clergy and particularly from such a high ranking Bishop. It is very lucky that His Holiness did not notice this terrible mistake and that he has a caring superior, in the form of Queen Margaret, who made sure that the mistake was not that noticeable.

Curiousity, that's all. Probably would make his faux pas even more notable, I would suppose. I do wonder whats the story about Bishop Laab, though. It does seem interesting.

I know! You would have to ask New Harumf about that one.

OOC: Bishop Laab is not "Officially" a Bishop. He was elected by the Amish community, in their tradition, in order to represent the interests of the Conservitive Catholic Amish Church. The "Bishop" title is like a kentuky "Colonel".

I thought I should just put out a fact sheet on Sultan Suleiman and his family.

Sultan Suleiman is married to Sultana Maryam. They have 3 children, Crown Prince Abdul (23), Princess Rashida (20), and Princess Safiyyah (17). Prince Abdul is married to Princess Nadia, and they have a son, Mahmud, who is 5.
