"As representative of our Glorious Empire and as such speaking for the Catholic European community in Patrua, I wish to express our grief and condolences for the passing of His Most Royal Holiness, Pope Pius XIII. He was a wise and welcome change after Alexander IX. Although there has been no restauration with regard to the rift the latter caused between both our nations, we are confident that the less autocratic and imperialistic course of His Holiness Pius XIII will be continued. And though we never met personally, I've heard from reliable sources that he was a very wise and serene man and will be missed." Enid Guava, President of the Committee of Foreign Affairs |

CEN News Update "The Church has expressed it's heartful thanks for the kind words of the Patruan government, saying that it was time to heal the rift between us. Cardinal John, said this: "For a long time, Patrua was one of our closest allies, who we fought side by side with in many wars. Howeve, the rift which was caused by Pope Alexander IX has still not healed and our relations with Patrua are slighted and blackened by this. I am sure that the new Pope will endevour to improve these relations in the future." More updates to follow. |

CEN News Broadcast - The funeral of Pope Pius XIII "Today, Pope Pius XIII was buried. Dignateries from across the region, ambassadors, celebrities and faithful Catholics attended the funeral which took place in the Maria Cathedral. It is estimated that around 2.5 million people watched the funeral take place on huge plasma screens in the middle of Genesian parks. The funeral rembered Pope Pius XIII's time on this earth and he was beatified, as is common for deceased Popes. The then most important part of the funeral procession took place - the unveiling of the new Pope. We now go live to our reproter, outside the Maria Cathedral, Lisa Rodriguez: *screen cuts to a picture of an Indian women in Western dress, holding a microphone and standing outside a lit-up Maria Cathedral* Thankyou. Yes, around 3 hours ago our new Pope was crowned. We will now show you the footage of this momentous ocasion. *screen cuts to inside the Maria Cathedal. Thousands of people are dressed completely in black, faces covered, facing the altar which is draped in black. There is a golden coffin in front of the altar, with Pope Pius XIII lying there 'in state'. A trumpet then sounds three times, and thew new Pope walks in from behindthe altar, lead by Cardinal as he is completely covered in black, face and everything. He walks up to the head of the coffin and brings out a crucifix and places it on Pope Pius XIII's chest. The Cardinal then takes the head veil off and the new Pope's face is shown.* Our new Pope is Cardinal Gregory. He is 32 years old and has become Pope Gregory XVII. Back to the studio. *screen cuts back to the studio* Thanks, Lisa. On behalf of CEN News, we wish and pray that His Most Royal Holiness, Pope Gregory XVII, is blessed with a good rule and good health. Amen." More updates to follow. |

We here in Uninterested Nihilists would like to offer our extreme condolences to the people of Catholic Europe, and to the Pope himself, although it hardly matters at this point. And in our own roundabout and strange way, we would like to extend our congratulations to Pope Gregory XVII. |
