We have two main bases of operation: Pirate Homeworld and Tallon IV. PIRATE HOMEWORLD Our Home planet, Pirate Homeworld, is filled to the brim with tricks and traps. A major factor of the planet is that it constantly is pouring Acid Rain. Without a Hazard Suit, or any other protective armor, troops will slowly desinigrate, resulting in fatigue, and in some cases, damage. Current points of interest are a launch area, a command center, a mining center, and a research area. There are also a number of defenses to protect us. As far as the layout, those who have played the game know. For those who havent, just think very futuristic and metal-heavy; filled with numerous platforms and research buildings and hallways everywhere. DEFENSES: Acid Rain - Causes slow fatigue, and in some cases, damage, of troops not under cover or who don't have Hazard Suits while in the rain. To avoid, troops can take cover in the many buildings here or under walkways and such. Still, a lot of the base is outdoors, making transport... not... fun. Anti-Air Cannon - A twenty-day-power AA cannon that is made for firing upon enemy aircraft. It locks on to aircraft, but not land or aquatic vehichles. It can also fire at airborn infantry, but it is not very practical. PiraTECH Radar - Notifies us of movement in and up to a day's length outside of the Homeworld. It can also detect invisible units. Balistic-Class Turrets - Powerful cannon-like turrets operated by a gunner. It shoots powerful ballistic shots that can destroy/damage troops and structures or war machines. Eventually, they may become automatic. But until then, each one needs a seperate gunner. But don't underestimate he turret's power. They can rip through war machines with enough shots. Puffer Mines - These floating... mine... things... I'm not sure actually. But I do know they explode upon contact, and release deadly vapors which dissipate after a few seconds, but stay long enough to kill troops in the area. Space Energy Sheild - A forty day dome-like barrier engulfing the base. It can withstand many shots, and even if it is shot enough to be destroyed, it will only open up a hole in the barrier, not destroy it completely. ----------------- TALLON IV (PHAZON MINES) While our forces are in control of Tallon IV, all forces are located at or around the Phazon Mines. Here, we mine raw phazon, converting some of it into purified phazon for use of War Machines, Defenses, and troops. Raw phazon can also be used for a more powerful effect, but is much more dangerous to the object being "hyper'd". Defense-wise, we don't have much. Fortunately, the Mines aren't exactly the lead target, therfore don't need to be as defended. Nonetheless, every precaution must be made. Layout-wise, think of the game. If you've never played it, think complex mines and buildings and machines and tunnels and lots of phazon lying about. DEFENSES: Location - Fairly hidden and difficult to traverse if you plan on attacking with massive numbers of troops. It is mountanious, with sparse areas of plateaus. What do you expect, they're mines. Lockdown - Large steel doors will instantly shut and block off areas as well as sound a base-wide alarm if enemies are detected. Slows down troop progression, including our own. Since we know our base better, though, we can still maneuver somewhat effectively. At least, more so than the enemy. ----------------- PHAAZE Our primary source of phazon, Phaaze is truely a volitile place. The planet is made of entirely phazon, and some say it is a living creature. It is the primary home for Leviathans and, eventually, the Leviathan Battleship, which will control Phaaze. The planet is so deadly that troops won't last long on it's phazon surface. Even ones that hover, or even fly, are exposed to phazon radiation. Only those that can withstand that much phazon, or are already corrupted, can explore it's depths. Unfortunately, it means that we can't have many troops stationed there. But, even if captured, the enemy can't exactly use it for anything useful besides stopping our phazon flow. DEFENSES: Phazon - As a result of the phazon makeup of the planet, it is basically to deadly to land on for most troops. Though that means we can't really send many troops to defend it, it also means the enemy will probably pass it by. |
