Not a Spoiler ...
A special request.

I always wanted to do a story around the idea of why Sonic would even consider joining Scourge so here we go. Picking up from Sonic 192 (back when Scourge had long beautiful quills) Sonic agrees to join Scourge for reasons unknown. After disposing of their Metal counterparts they ...

Spoiler: click to toggle

Scourge: " Come on. We're falling back! "

The small group of moebians had been watching the battle from a distance. It was going badly for the King in the beginning but then something of a miracle happened. They couldn't explain how or why but the two on the battlefield started to work together to destroy one of the mechanical creations after the other without their assistance. Now their King was back, only slightly bruised, and he had someone following close behind.

Alicia: Needless to say the Suppression Squad was at a loss. " What do you mean we're going bac - " For her outburst Alicia earned a sharp glare that encouraged her to correct herself. " I mean, your highness. " She started again, carefully. " Why are we going back when we worked so hard to maintain position here? "

Scourge: Scourge scoffed. He didn't like having to break it down twice. " The Freedom Jerks won't follow us immediately if they think we have a hostage. " Green eyed the blue hedgehog that had followed him in. " They probably don't know he's missing yet but when they do an' try to come after us, we'll go after -them-. " It was a thing of brilliance! They were going to head back to Moebius to prepare for a more forceful counterattack against Mobotropolis ... with a new recruit in tow.

Sonic: Sonic was looking the other way and remained silent as Scourge confronted his gang. He appeared uneasy but not at all bound. What was really going on here? The hedgehog stood behind Scourge without even runnin' his mouth. If this was really a hostage situation, shouldn't he be tryin' to fight? No, he stood there on his own free will, but not without its fair share of guilt.

Sonic was looking back toward New Mobotropolis, uncertain if whether or not he was making the right decision. There had been a lot going on with the hero than he would have ever liked to admit. The only one that seemed to be able to really read him was himself - a great advantage Scourge had.

Now it seemed he was blurring that fine line between good and evil. Maybe things weren't so black and white after all.

Miles: Alicia may have been afraid to speak up but Miles was not a complete coward. He was the second most likely member to challenge Scourge after Patch. The fox only did so rarely; when he was sure he had a leg to stand on. " Can we really trust him? " That was the question on their collective minds. " This could all just be a trick to get someone on the inside. "

Scourge: Scourge didn't seem all that concerned about what Miles thought. He was making sure that Boomer was setting up the Star Posts right. He didn't even bother to answer until the machine was up, running, and projecting a familiar ring of light to one side of the room. " I trust him more then I trust you assholes. " Especially Miles. " And if he wanted to turn on us then your face would be in the wall already. Remember that. " Now if it did come to that Scourge wouldn't stop Sonic from teaching his comrades a lesson about alertness before defending himself. Seemed that the only way to get these guys to listen was a good beating.

When the portal out of Mobius stabilized the others gathered around. As a routine they filed into a warp with the lowest ranking member going first. That would be Patch, then Boomer, Miles, and Alicia. Fiona looked for Scourge but found herself totally ignored as he went for Sonic instead. " Babe ... you might not think it now but you made the right decision. Come this time next week New Mobotropolis will be under new, better, management. " With minimal casualties to boot! In the meantime they'd take a little holiday on Moebius.

Fiona: Fiona's ears folded at the sight of how warmly her new boyfriend was acting towards her old one. She just stepped through the Portal ahead of them, saying nothing.

Sonic: Sonic could only imagine what the Suppression Squad was thinking. He knew he had to watch his back with them - and even Scourge for that matter. Who knows? The guy may not have meant anything he said but was just luring him in to betray him, use him to get the upper edge, and then try to knock him off in the end. The whole thing was risky and a bit reckless. He had no real plans going into this but couldn't stop himself from following like a lost puppy.

Patch: Patch seemed just as wary of the idea as any of the others. He was willing to complain to Miles on the other side of the portal so long as Scourge didn't hear. But it was the green hedgehog that was possibly getting himself into trouble trusting the proclaimed hero. Perhaps the Squad could use that leverage and take advantage of him? Not that Patch was so bold (he didn't want to lose another eye!). But he knew who was ...

Sonic: Sonic looked at Scourge, ears folding back. He tried not to look as jittery as he felt about all of this. His reassurances didn't do much good. He was actually siding with an enemy here. He never thought he'd see the day and he was continuously asking himself what he was doing. ...But he knew what he was doing. He knew how he felt but was always too afraid to admit. Maybe this really was for the best in the end, anyway. With Scourge's power and his morale, maybe they would be able to do more good than harm that was sure to be expected once word got out about his betrayal.

"We'll see." Trusting the other hedgehog was going to have to be a work in progress. Once Fiona disappeared, he got the courage to jump through next.

Scourge: The Moebius Star Posts were put in a room that he liked to call the 'Things They Stole from Kintobor' room. In King Max's time it was the royal treasury, but by time Scourge's gang took over the Acorn Family was running thin on funds. This was only one of three areas in the castle that were reinforced so it made for an ideal place to house the best technology the Kingdom had to offer. Hell, if Sonic looked around he might notice some things salvaged from Mobius. Some robot parts from Eggman. A few Warp Rings from the echindas. Even some items he inadvertently saved from the destruction of Knothole during his short stint there.

Scourge stepped back into his castle, stretching, before giving his next command. " You're dismissed. " He yawned in the direction of his so called comrades. " Get back to work. Take a personal day. Go kill yourselves. I don't care. We meet back in the throne room before dinner tomorrow to break down the plan. " There was some grumbling, but the group didn't protest. Moebians preferred to spend time by themselves rather then together. Some 'me' time wouldn't be refused by them.

Fiona: Fiona looked uncertain as to whether she should follow the group or stay behind. She had a hunch, just an inkling, that she was not welcome in this picture. The fox tried to make herself involved. " So you're going to show him around? "

Scourge: " Yeah. " His sharp answer nearly crushed her. " Solo. Now be a good little bitch and get lost. "

Sonic: He looked around the room, feeling a bit more tense now that he was actually in enemy territory. There was no going back now. Here's hoping he wasn't going to be jumped right away. ...And fortunately, Scourge still seemed pretty casual about the whole thing. He actually felt more concerned that Fiona might call him out on his own hypocrisy. She seemed to ignore him for the most part and he was grateful. He had nothing to say to her either.

"Are you always so charming?" Sonic glanced over at Scourge. He'd feel sorry for her if she hadn't been such a pain to him in their recent past. Still, it was going to be difficult adjusting to Scourge's attitude. How they were going to end up working together and ruling anything would certainly pan out most interesting. In the meantime, he could play along. A tour of the castle would be a nice start.

Fiona: Fiona was shocked. She was used to Scourge being cruel to the other members of the Team but this was the first time that he did this to her. It showed in her eyes which quickly shifted from looking wide and helpless to narrowing dangerously not at him, but at the other hedgehog. If looks could kill Sonic wouldn't have time to wonder what this was about. He'd be dead. She left, but it was evident in her expression that this would be a problem later on.

Scourge: " Hey now. " Scourge tried to laugh off what would have otherwise been a very awkward situation. " Sometimes you have to be hard on your Team. You're the leader for a reason. You should know what's best. I know you don't like Fiona much - I mean now, so I didn't want her to tag along. " That seemed believable, right?

Awkwardness aside, he decided that it was time to show Sonic his Kingdom. You know. The one that came together under him in little under a week. He offered for Sonic to follow him with a gesture of the head towards the door.

Scourge was heading out into the hallway first. When Sonic came out of the vault he'd close it behind them. " This castle hasn't been used since the Revolution a decade ago. Since the Empire of Moebius has been founded we're working on a little renovation to the ol' castle. New carpet. Some drapes. Indoor plumbing. Working electricity ... "

Sonic: Maybe it would have been best to say something after she left. Sonic looked a little taken aback by the look she gave him. What did he do? Well, he supposed their past made up for enough of that. Girls were hard to understand anyway.

He looked at Scourge as he tried to defend his actions. He knew they were a couple so no wonder Fiona was angry at how he just referred to her. Shouldn't he be trying to explain to her? Obviously Scourge had other things on his mind. Maybe he was tense about him being there and was just being snappy. ...Then again, that was generally his attitude. He had no patience and while Sonic could relate, the way he handled it was vastly different.

Sonic followed him out without anything more to say on the subject. He paid close attention to the castle and how to get around when Green began giving him the 411. "I see." He wondered how security measures were kept then though was afraid of sounding suspicious to ask. Seemed they had enough of a collection to figure something out. "Guess some color would do this place some good too. I'd try blue." Blue carpets, drapes...

Scourge: " Your castle can be blue. Mine's gonna look a bit more classy. " Honestly, he thought monochrome could get a little boring. From the looks of things three main colors were being used. They walked by some workers applying plaster to the bricks of the wall. Once it dried they'd put on a fresh coat of sleek black paint. Black would make up the majority of the basic structure of the building ultimately giving the castle a 'dark and evil' vibe. The furniture was mainly metal, a brushed bronze, finished to a shade that matched his dark tan fur. Finally there were little details of green that just brought the place together and reminded him of ... himself. Narcissistic much? He could be when he was King.

There were workers everywhere but they didn't dare greet the King or his company with words. They seemed quick to either bow to him or scurry away from them in hopes they weren't seen. There was a certain tension between the King and his subjects, especially so for those working on the circular mosaic high above the door of the large room they just entered: the throne room. The mosaic was only a wire frame now but mistakenly the King.

Sonic could feel immense Chaos Energy when he entered this room. It was the same sensation he'd get when he was close to a source of power whether it be a Power Ring, Chaos Emerald, or even the Master Emerald. There didn't seem to be any of those around, though. " You know the city hasn't really had much work done to it since the Revolution. This is the most these lazy bums have worked their whole lives. We're aiming to have the castle done by the end of the month. Sounds crazy, but when you have people workin' (in fear) around the clock that kind of stuff is possible. "

Scourge lead him to the back past the two empty thrones. There they'd find double doors leading into a sun lit hallway that connected with the courtyard.

Sonic: He was picking up on the interior design and had to admit, it did sort of remind him of Scourge. Of course, he didn't think the other would take him seriously. The most blue he'd see would probably be himself in here; and that was surprising enough.

He did kind of feel sorry for the workers. They all seemed afraid whenever they walked by. It was easy to guess why. Sonic was judging Scourge from the moment they decided this alliance. He had to think about how this would hold up against his people. Sonic was definitely going to be the merciful one. He wouldn't like the idea of anyone being afraid of him unless they were a potential threat - they should be afraid.

"Ya know, I think there's a lot to be discussed here other than..." Sonic was getting a bit anxious about how they were going to approach the Freedom Fighters when that time came, and what exactly was Scourge's game plan in dealing with said enemies; it was a point he wanted to get right down to but paused. He didn't want any of them killed. Some part of him liked the idea of being able to get them to somehow accept all of this. But that big talk was going to have to come later when he was interrupted by the energy he felt in the room. His ears perked up curiously. He looked around, not spotting anything familiar.

"Are there Chaos Emeralds around?" Sonic continued to follow him, feeling a particularly strong reading when they walked passed the thrones. None of which he could see, but a guess he hoped would lead to an answer. It was a wonder Scourge didn't use this against them.

Scourge: Figures that Sonic doesn't want to hear about how great he was. He was getting to the nitty gritty, but he didn't want to throw everything out there all at once. There was a time and place for everything and in the dingy old castle was just not that place. They needed the right atmosphere to discuss business. They needed some ambiance!

" Not exactly ... " Following a cobblestone path that was still in the works they were going to arrive at one of the King's little slices of heaven. The courtyard was divided into sections by trees and bushes. In one seemingly neglected corner was a nook of furniture gathered under a wooden gazebo. A converted structure that was one of the first things to be updated in the castle. " Moebius has these stones that were once called the Forbidden Stones. They're strong like Chaos Emeralds but using that strength comes at a piece. Most moebians are too scared to even touch them so it was easy getting them to hand them over to the King for disposal. " And when he said 'disposal' he meant 'storage for a later use'.

Scourge flopped down in one of the plush chairs. " I renamed then Anarchy Beryl. " As he waited for Sonic to get settled he noticed a worker cleaning off the grill attached to this small space. " You. " Just the sound of the King's voice was enough to make the poor male mongoose nearly crap himself. " Food. Now. " Stumbling, the guy who looked sort of familiar ran inside to gather some ingredients.

" Any other questions? "

Sonic: It looked like Scourge had some taste after all. The outside area seemed rather tranquil compared to the atmosphere within the castle. He wouldn't mind a moment to sit down and try to relax despite all that was going on around him. He wasn't sure if he could even with a lovely view like this. Still, he tried, and thought about the idea of there being similar emeralds here like back home. How interesting.

"This is nice..." Sonic commented offhandedly, pleasantly surprised by Scourge's attitude towards him at least. With the others, things hadn't seemed to change. But this could have easily turned into something much more nerve wracking. As for the questions, "Plenty." Sonic didn't really know much about Scourge's past. He wasn't even sure how he managed to become a King here; and the biggest pressing issue to him was how they planned on working together in the near future.

"This is going to sound a little awkward. But I think if we're going to work together, we should know a little more about each other. Maybe ... you could tell me a little more about yourself." Other than the impression of a power-hungry, egocentric hedgehog, of course.

Scourge: Sonic was different from the rest of the scrubs. Though he still had that sickening streak of goodness that all mobians seemed to posses he also had some redeeming qualities. Scourge knew that Sonic was capable of much more then he initially thought himself to be. Since Sonic was here instead of back home with his wimpy friends he figured that he'd finally realized that he had the power to really change things on Mobius. Little did those little fuckers back on Mobius know that their constant years of struggling were about to come to an end.

His first question threw him completely off guard. He was expecting a question about the plan! Now he had to actually think and remember things that he didn't particularly want to remember. On cue he lowered his shades over his eyes to hide their expression from Blue as he recalled.

Might as well start from the beginning. " I have the same parents as you do. Kinda. " As he started to talk the frightened mongoose came back with a cooler full of stuff and started to set up. A bucket filled with ice and drinks was plopped down on a pedestal between them before he circled around to the grill to figure out how to turn it on. " Bernie was a small time TV actress looking for her big break. Jules was the big time politician who fucked her. Some time later I was born and they were married to save Jules' political career. "

" We lived in a manor not too far from the Kingdom. Well ... I did. My folks were never around. Jules was always out there chasing his dreams and Bernie kept chasing hers. They didn't have time to raise a kid I guess. After I learned to walk and shovel food I was pretty much on my own. The hired help just made sure that I didn't do anything stupid and stayed out of my way. "

The mongoose managed to turn on the grill and sloppily threw some food on it. From the looks of it he never cooked a day in his life and was struggling immensely just trying not to set the gazebo on fire. " My mother left for good around the time I started school. It didn't end well. The other kids didn't like me, my father, or my speed. I dropped out a few years later and learned what I needed on the streets. Never went back to visit my dad. He never bothered to care. It worked out for both of us. "

Sonic: Sonic could be awfully dense sometimes but he picked up on the subtle hint with those shades. Considering the background Scourge had, no wonder it was hard to talk about. He was surprised... kind of. He had to have had a rough background to turn out the way he did. Not that ... there wasn't some hope. After all, he was giving him the benefit of the doubt here. He was willing to work with him to try to overcome his own demons with the people that so often used him. And while they were so desperate for help, they seemed to be just as willing to get rid of him too. ...At least, the corrupted Council was, along with Sally's deranged father.

If not for the mongoose's antics in the background, Sonic might have become totally depressed listening to Scourge. The guy offered some nice comical relief though he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him too. He was tempted to ask to help him several times - or at least scoot further away from the grill.

"I'm sorry." Sonic frowned, looking back at Scourge. "I mean... Ya know, I can see how tough it must've been for you." No wonder he had so much trouble making friends. How could he trust anyone if his own mom and dad wasn't there for him? "But... it doesn't always have to be you against the world." Catch his hint? He wasn't the best motivational speaker here but he didn't want to make things more awkward by simply dropping the subject. Scourge was who he was because of his past. He'd like to provide some sort of enlightenment; but he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to change him so quickly.

Scourge: Smoke began to fill the air around them. It wasn't to the point that they needed to worry about vacating the area just yet but it was enough for Scourge to shoot a glare in the cook's direction. The guy made an attempt to adjust the temperature and save the burning food soon after. " It's not just me. " Taking Sonic's words in the most literal sense. He figured that Sonic meant that he was alone in his fight for multidimensional domination.

In reality he knew that he wasn't. " Almost everyone on Moebius wanted change. The government was pushing this thing called The Great Peace to mark an era where no one on the planet was at war. That wasn't really their doing. The people were tired of fighting for leaders who couldn't keep their promises. The world might have been at peace but we weren't making any progress. Most of the people on the planet were starving in backwater villages and people in the city were doing marginally better. Only the rich and the empowered had it easy on Moebius, but they were outnumbered a thousand to one. "

" That's when the Revolution started. " The pungent smell of smoke quickly dispersed and was replaced by the scent of questionable meat. It looked like the mongoose was finally putting something on a plate; sweating bullets. " Starting with crazy ol' King Max the people overthrew every major ruler who they saw unfit to it on the throne. I was about ten when that started and did my part. For the next five-some years the world was in chaos. No one ruled, but that was okay because people learned to take care of themselves. "

That was against what Sonic said earlier, sure, but he wasn't finished. " What sets moebians apart from mobians is that the majority of them are lazy. They won't do nothin' for themselves unless their pushed. That's where I come in. "

And here comes the food! The mongoose presented ... a plate of two extremely burnt hot dogs on crumbly bread covered in what resembled chili sauce only in name. Actually, it was hot sauce, ketchup, and relish made up to look like chili sauce.

Sonic: A world of people that needed to be slave driven? Moebius was Mobius's polar opposite alright. He could see how things could possibly work under Scourge's questionable management but he was concerned about grouping -everyone- together. He's been here before and met some of the Moebians that used to hang around Kintobor, desperate for change and solace. And what of the doctor himself? He was afraid to ask what happened to them.

Sometimes, it was hard to believe that they were any different at all from Mobius prime. But it seemed they were outnumbered by a greater percentage of Moebians unlike back on Mobius. On Mobius there were a lot of bad guys, but for the most part, they were able to hold their own in their quest for justice and peace; and the good outweighed the bad. Scourge's methods worked here, but how did he plan to fit into HIS world? "And what about Mobius? How do you plan to approach them?"

The smell of burning food had been hard to ignore all this time but Sonic was just glad the mongoose didn't cook himself in the process. Seeing an anti-Ash like this was almost amusing if the better part of him hadn't refrained such an expression. He gawked a little at what he thought was a hot dog instead. "This is probably the first time I've ever passed on a chili dog, but..." Sonic smiled sheepishly at the 'cook.' "You can have mine."

Not a Spoiler ...
Scourge: Scourge didn't think of the workers as slaves exactly. The moebians here were not being held against their will or being made to do things that they didn't want to do. If they didn't like the way he ran the Kingdom they could run away and join Kintobor's little ragtag bunch of misfits. Yeah, the guy was still around causing trouble. Kintobor had a technological edge that kept him safe from the Suppression Squad for now. Once they spread around their influence a bit and upgraded their weaponry ...

" It's not likely that they're going to listen to our changes outright. " He decided to throw that out there from the start so it wouldn't be a surprise later. " Some force has to be used. That's the bad news. " In the worst possible scenario they could see some serious causalities here on both sides. There was some good news in all of this, and as Scourge shared it he pulled his sunglasses off his eyes so they could go back to their proper place. " The good news is that we figured out a way to take over Mobotropolis without hurting anyone, but we have to work fast. "

And when he said 'we' he gestured between them. For the first leg of the journey they would be on their own. Sonic and himself were the only two members of the Suppression Squad that could sneak by NICOLE's security net undetected. " We're developing something of a manual override to NICOLE's administrative rights to the city. If we take control of the city away from NICOLE we can lockdown the place before they have a chance to resist. Then no one gets hurt. "

Scourge didn't even look at the food presented. Sighing, he looked over to the guards stationed outside of the door they came out of and pointed to the mongoose ... who promptly dropped the plate. The guards escorted the mongoose away wordlessly, but the mongoose himself looked terrified.

Now that might seem counteractive to what he just said but he explained. " He needs to learn how to cook a chili dog. The chef will teach him. " Painfully.

Sonic: Sonic didn't expect everything to go down smoothly. He feared the worst case scenario and having to hurt any of his closest friends or family. The Suppression Squad wasn't to be trusted, period; he would have pointed that out, but he was pretty certain Scourge already knew that. So who knows how they would handle their own against the others. He just didn't want anyone to get killed - and they fought dirty. It was a lot to worry about but Scourge already seemed to have a pretty good idea. It calmed most of Sonic's concerns about a big messy fight. While he felt bad for having to do that to NICOLE, it seemed like the best option.

"I can do that." It'd be easy for Sonic to sneak in. He wouldn't even have to sneak! No one had a clue that the blue hedgehog was now working on the other side. He could waltz into anywhere and they wouldn't realize his intentions until it was too late. Sonic was actually pretty impressed by Scourge's thinking. He thought the guy would have taken a more ... violent approach to things.

"Um..." Sonic blinked out of his thoughts as the guards started to lead the mongoose away. That violent restraint he thought Scourge had might have went out the window if Sonic wasn't being naive. He took him literally and didn't think the guy was in any real harm or else he might have said something other than, "Oh."

Now back to the issues at hand. "When do you think we should make our move?"

Scourge: Scourge was not against putting the Freedom Fighters in their place if they tried to stop their plans. Sonic may have been relieved to know that it didn't mean killing them. No. He learned in his brief travels that if he killed everyone then there wouldn't be anyone left to bow to him. Rather then kill those who opposed him he was going to make them wish they were dead. He would show them that there were things much worst then death. Hell, that there were things much worst then him being in control. Like him -not- being in control!

" The manual override is being made by a group of nerds lead by Boomer. It's not ready yet, but it should be in another day or so. After they give it a test run here we'll get ready to head over to Mobius. " So 'soon' would be sufficient to answer his question. If the machine wasn't ready by the meet tomorrow he'll light a fire under their asses.

Scourge grinned now. " It took only a week to take over Moebius. There will be more resistance on Mobius, so I figure it'll take three weeks to get it through they're heads. " If Sonic knew the whole scope of the plan it'd blow his mind. Every detail right down to where and when was being planned out by his associates. Like Sonic Scourge did not fully trust the Suppression Squad, but he had a 'Plan B' in case they decided to turn traitor. A very effective, very lethal, Plan B.

" In the meantime we can chill on Moebius for a bit. " He pushed himself out of his seat as if to prove that point. " And I know just the place if you're ready. "

Sonic: It was during those three weeks that had him shook up the most. Sonic had very little doubt that they would be able to pull this off. Mostly because they had the best element of surprise possible. But a lot could go on that might make the hedgehog think twice about his actions.

"Just so we're clear, I don't want any unnecessary casualties. Especially from the Freedom Fighters." That was going to be their main target, after all. Sonic knew Scourge wasn't fond of them (and that was putting it lightly) so he didn't want him to take advantage of any of them while they were down. He knew how particularly ruthless the King could be. But he wasn't just worried about him. "You might want to run that by your questionable team mates later." It was a warning; he had no qualms about turning on one of them if he had to.

Now, in an attempt to 'chill' for the time being, he tried to clear his head and relax before the big event. What a way to do it in enemy territory... He stood up too, gesturing with his hand, "After you."

Scourge: " A good King takes care of his people. Even the bitchy or ungrateful ones. " The problem lay in that the people do not always know what is best for them. Not even the Freedom Fighters were immune to making mistakes in judgment. While it was preferable to have the Freedom Fighters on their side he just wasn't seeing it. Most of them were so blinded by the needless fight of Good versus Evil that they could see nothing else. Only when they came to overcome such prejudice could they finally bring peace to their world. He made his own people see beyond the veil they all came together in record time, and THEY were the bad ones!

As far as his team mates go ... " If everything goes well then they won't have to clash with the Freedom Fighters. It'll be just you an' me, Blue. They'll be let into the city after its locked down. " ... then it was a matter of what would happen if things didn't go as planned. They could try to take the Freedom Fighters themselves. Between them they were strong enough, but they couldn't guarantee the safety of the others.

Enough of the whens and if. It was time for them to have fun now! When Sonic opened the door for that he was off like a rocket. Better hope the blue hedgehog was paying attention or else he'd loose the King heading back into the castle and down the hallway. Scourge was heading out the front door of the castle, across the drawbridge, and into the city that was showing its first signs of life in years. The once slothful moebians were out on the King's order cleaning the streets so they too can be fixed up after nearly a decade of neglect.

Sonic: Thinking about things anymore now would just add to the tension. He'd give himself some relief and see if the two of them could really get along. So far so good. Though ... he didn't expect Scourge to bolt so quickly!

Sonic, however, was fast at keeping up. He jetted off right after him. Ah, a good run was exactly what he needed right now. It really got endorphines goin' and helped him relax more than anything. Scourge was quick, but he spotted the hedgehog not too far ahead of him. He tried to keep his eyes on where he was going while at the same time checking out the rest of Scourge's city.

There was a big difference from the last time he was here. Scourge was right that the place was in chaos before. He didn't think that Green could really make things look like ... a legitimate place to live.

Scourge: Outside of Mobotropolis Moebius was a pretty shitty place to live. Mobotropolis wasn't even on par with what Knothole Village was at its peak on a technological scale. Most of the population didn't even have indoor plumbing. The Kings that ruled before him didn't care enough about the general population to give them that 'luxury'. Still it would be many years before Moebius was actually 'livable'. In the meantime he was willing to offer those who were loyal to him a legitimate alternative.

His stupid 'friends' aside he knew there was one place that wouldn't let him down in town. It was one of the first places outside of the castle to get some changes. He passed through an iron gateway that separated this place from the rest of town. Inside, a distinctive red glow illuminated the streets and buildings. This was one of the richest places in modern Mobotropolis, and for a good reason.

Scourge slowed down to a trot as he tried to figure out a good place to take his new ally. There were so many options, but he decided to go for a high end place in early celebration of their inevitable victory. He slowed to a stop at the corner of one of the streets. Surrounded by a wooden fence was a series of buildings that looked to be from the East. Yeah. This would be a great place to kill some time!

Anti-Regina: There was a woman who looked to be an Overlander at the entrance. It was the only Overlander he'd ever seen besides Dr. Kintobor. She appeared to be a young woman with green hair wearing a red and black ceremonial dress. Upon seeing the hedgehogs she smiled softly. " Your highness. " She bowed her head deeply to show her respect. " How may I be of service? "

Sonic: Sonic slowed to a trot behind Scourge. By the time the other stopped, he stood alongside him, looking around curiously. He had never really explored Moebius before. While some of the people may be questionable in character, he found it interesting to compare them to the ones he knew back home. "Where are we going?" He asked before he realized they were in front of the place already.

He just then noticed the overlander before she had the chance to address them. His eyes widened a little, just a touch surprised. He recalled seeing her double many years ago but maybe this one wasn't quite as crazy if they were still going by the whole polar opposites thing.

Scourge: " My friend here is a bit stressed. " Scourge started as he gestured to the curious hedgehog behind him. Funny how he claimed to be his friend already. It was only so Lady Regina wouldn't think anything was admiss. " Is there anyone in there that can help him relax tonight? "

Regina: Regina was one of the few on Moebius allowed to keep her real name. The King only allowed those who'd treated him kindly in the past to forgo the conversion. " I remember you mentioning a blue hedgehog on a prior visit. Is he the same? " Scourge confirmed it, which made the woman smile warmly as she formulated a plan. " Then I know just what to do. A light meal and a smoothing massage from one of my newer students should put his mind and body at ease. They really are masterful in their technique. "

She gestured for them to follow her inside as she turned towards the largest building. The interior of this lot was almost surreal compared to what they saw on the streets not too long ago. Wooden buildings were surrounded by a well groomed garden. The walls were built high and painted over with realistic scenery so the customers wouldn't have to see the rest of the filth on this side of town. " Now is there anything I can do for you, my King? "

Scourge: " The usual. " He answered as they entered the building. Inside there appeared to be a show of some kind going on, but they came in at the tail end of it. The performers: young male and female moebians dressed finely, were laying down their instruments. Some of the members of the audience approached the performers to exchange some words. They only nodded before following the customer out through the back.

Regina: Regina stepped towards the stage to pull someone from it before they could be snatched by anyone else. She'd only been gone a few seconds before returning with a quiet looking moebian who wore a veil in addition to their long, flowing, kimono. " Mr. Hedgehog, this is Vida. They will be serving you tonight. "

Sonic: Having Scourge introduce him as a 'friend' did sound a bit odd. What a day this has turned out to be. But the complicated relationship they had didn't need to be told, anyway. That would suffice and Sonic wouldn't object. Though, he did seem a bit questionable regarding what Scourge's plans were. Some part of him was always going to be a little concerned that somehow this was all going to turn out badly in the end. It was habit given the fact that whenever they've interacted before, Scourge has tried to do something nasty to him.

Oh? He's mentioned him before? Wouldn't that make her want to kill him or something? "I can only imagine what you've said." Sonic mumbled to Scourge, looking at him pointedly. If he needed to reassure this lady that they weren't enemies now, that'd be the time to do it.

As they walked in together, Sonic was pleasantly surprised by the interior design. It was very nice. He thought this place was a spa at first until he noticed the stage. Maybe it still was but with just some extra perks. "What's this place called?" He asked Scourge before Regina came back up to him with somebody in tow.

He gave a friendly smile and held his hand out to shake the other's in greeting. "I'm Sonic, nice to meet you."

Scourge: " The Cherry Blossom Inn. " This place was actually a bit of a mini resort for those rich enough to afford it in Mobotropolis. Exotic food, luxurious spa treatments, decent bedding, and a staff willing and ready to please in every possible way. It's one of the older established businesses that survived the Revolution. He remembered first coming here years ago when he thought better of those thugs that were in his gang. " Real classy place. Naturally most of the workers aren't from Mobotropolis. " They were imports from what used to be the Dragon Kingdom.

Regina: Regina didn't seem to hold anything against Sonic despite what may have been said. In fact she was willing to give him one of her best to try for free even though they demanded a high premium. She stayed just long enough to ensure that the initial meeting went well before attending to business elsewhere in the Inn.

Vida: The moebian called Vida declined to shake the other's hand. It wasn't proper to use such a -western- custom in a place like this. They could be punished! The moebian instead brought their hands in front of them and bowed deeply to show them respect. When they straightened they pulled back the veil slightly to show them a pair of piercing yellow eyes. In addition they had a long curved horn and distinctive fuchsia scales framing their face. " It is a honor, Sonic the Hedgehog. "

Scourge: " That's Lord Sonic to you, babe. " Scourge corrected, but in a more playful way then he corrected the other moebians. He seemed to hold workers on this side of town in another regard. " He's gonna be a King one day, you know. "

Vida: The chameleon looked startled by this news, but that quickly passed to be replaced by that more familiar serious expression. " Ah. My apologies, Imperial Highness. I did not mean to offend. "

Scourge: " Hmph. " The green hedgehog huffed. " Just make sure he has a good time tonight an' maybe I'll forgive you. "

Sonic: Cherry Blossom Inn? He never heard of such a place back in New Mobotropolis. But he never really got the chance to pamper himself with any kind of spa treatment. He was always too busy, and the times he wasn't, trying to catch up with friends.

Sonic withdrew his hand when the other decided to greet him another way. Looked like he found the doppleganger of a certain chameleon too! His lips pursed in awe for a moment before he disguised any newly found interest on this guy. He was going to have to get used to seeing doubles everywhere.

He smiled sheepishly as Scourge corrected Es--Vida. A King, huh? Just hearing that was going to get some getting used to. For a while he never thought he'd be able to fit the role as any sort of leader. But maybe it was the fear of being mostly driven by the Council and that limited freedom. Well, let's not dwell on all of that again. Some relaxation. That's what he needed. Though, he never pictured Espio as any sort of masseuse.

"I'm sure he'll be fine." Sonic wasn't very hard on others so long as they tried. He lived off of simple needs and pleasures on Mobius; he wouldn't be that hard to impress.

He glanced back at Scourge. "What are you going to be doing?" He heard the other's order but wasn't sure what 'the usual' meant. He was just curious before they'd be parting ways.
