Espio - I have a place. I'm just having the hardest time actually thinking of a reason to get over there without jumping the gun. Since I can't think of a good reason at the moment ... I'm just going to go ahead and jump the gun and fill in the blank later. Long story short one very bad and one semi-bad echinda are going to go after the Master Emerald. Someone has to stop them to save poor old Dr. Finitevus. Maybe. Fiona - We're due for a headcount to see who's still active. I was waiting until after the Holidays were well behind us before doing anything like that but now seems like a good time. I'll get together with Sonic and sort it out before my mini-vacation from work is over. Far as the Strike Thread goes ... I think it's more or less run it's course far as most of the character's involvement goes. The bad thing about having so many characters posting in the same place is that a lot of characters get lost in the shuffle. Given the current structure of the storyline there isn't much that can be done to fix it, unfortunately. That's just a recurring problem we've come to face. The solution is simply to break it off from the Main Thread to get some smaller Threads that people can actually follow started. Tonight I'll read over the Thread and see how that will work out. The major players can continue to post there will the minor characters who were lost in the panic (like those recovering from injuries) can post somewhere else. |

i'm game. i know I was out in the Strike thread but I was hoping to come back when Sally/Sonic got back but that didn't seem to happen the way I thought/hoped it would |

Well, I took the liberty, and ended the Strike, it has been running for a little too long, and jammed all characters in it. So now Strike is over, and we can count how many people survived it and are still active. Now people can just continue their lives, and we can actually have more than an one thread were people can post. |

You killed off my character? Without asking me? *Cries* Now for serious mode: This is fine - NICOLE is offline for the foreseeable future until someone can figure out how to restore her. Mind that the only person who even remotely knows NICOLE's intricate functions without having to resort to written records housed who knows where is Sally ... who is not coming back to Portal anytime soon. This is also fine - NICOLE was stricken by the virus and ultimately had to force herself out of the system and into a separate container to keep it from spreading and causing damage of horrific proportions (such as Portal imploding on itself and killing everybody inside). NICOLE still exists but can no longer interact with Portal ... or do much of anything else, really. If you really want to be thorough maybe one of the rebels takes her to safety outside the city walls. This is a little iffy - NICOLE is offline and not coming back. See, the reason that NICOLE is around Portal in the first place is probably the same reason why Ian concepted NICOLE running New Mobotropolis. It allows for the city to be levels several times over and still be rebuilt without strenuous effort. She also serves to do a handful of functions that are essential to the storytelling. Despite being 'powerful' in the sense that she can stop virtually anything if given time to analyze she's far from perfect ... or omnipotent. That's why I gave to go to hit her with the virus in the first place. In simpler terms - NICOLE is around to fix things when the crap hits the fan. If NICOLE isn't around then all of the heroes in Portal whom this Timeline is supposed to be favoring anyway after two Timelines where they get crushed by the more thoroughly prepared opposition are on their own. Speaking as the admin looking in and trying to mediate the situation the Heroes are almost always at a disadvantage here. This is my trying to level the playing field. ... but I'll be fair about it and let the other members weigh in on it. People, are you all going to be all right with NICOLE being offline for good? If she's gone then that means the Freedom Fighters are on their own figuring out how to get out of this mess. Don't count on Sonic coming to help, either. He most likely isn't going to make it back to Portal. I guess if we decide to let her go then the city could still be repaired. Magitek was used to manipulate the nanites around before and Ix is pretty much game for that.
I guess some people were in the dark about it, but yeah. Sonic probably isn't coming back to Portal. Not in one piece, at least. Guy wins the reward for being the worst World Renown Hero evah. It was intended for someone to rescue Sally at some point, though. In the meantime she might be playing the role of Princess Peach in another castle. |

Lol. Well, she'll try not to be as lame as Peach. Anyway, even this doesn't really affect me since Sally's not even in Portal nor can she reach NICOLE, but I'm more for the second choice oppose to her being offline for good. Really, in any of those scenarios, NICOLE wouldn't be able to help them and the Freedom Fighters would virtually be on their own against everything. However, her being struck by the virus and thus being unable to communicate with Portal is just as devastating. ... That said, I guess it wouldn't matter really if NICOLE was gone for good. Either way, she's not going to be able to help. *shrugs* |

where can bunnie get back into the swing of things? She needs some guidance here! I've got "the lesson" going on but thats more of a side thing between her and antione that may figure into a future arch but mainly it's cause it's something stable. |

Well, to clarify what I had in mind for NICOLE.. of course I don't mean that she will be offline for good, but until someone could figure out a way to re-activate her, she would not be able to help the city. This was mostly because even though she is not omnipotent, she can hear everything that is said in the city by anyone, she can fix any amount of damage in just a few moments, and once she builds some resistance for magitek, she could probably repel any invasion or attack on her own, it is somewhat difficult to fight a place you are supposed to conquer... What I originally had in mind, was that bad guys would manage to get hold of Portal like they now have, and heroes would have to figure out what is going on, find the royal couple, save them, re-activate NICOLE, and then drive the scheming villains out of their city. If NICOLE would be online from the start, she could just clap her hands once, and an every single person she would not want to walk free would suddenly find themselves inside a prison. Or then being teleported out of the city, and the unbreakable barrier back in it's place. Second choice works fine for me, Numerus downloaded her core into a some portable device, right? And I'm open to any ideas what to do to Sally, right now I'm just probably going to find some deserted island in the middle of nowhere, and then place Sonic, Sally and Scourge there to have a loong vacation, but if something else would work better, please suggest! You'll be posting here. I'll PM you about the situation in full for clarification.
I guess you can try to look at it from the perspective of your character to figure out where to go from here. Bunnie's best friend and the Queen of the city (Sally) is missing and presumed dead. In her place a bunch of outsiders have come and essentially occupied the city. Are they friendly? Are they in leagues with the enemy? You can't say for sure because you don't know much about them. Sure they're protecting the city now but will the city remain safe if someone, or even they, suddenly attack? It seems that the Heroes still inside of Portal will have to regroup somewhere and figure out some sort of plan. Who's in charge now, anyway? In the meantime the people in charge (Shadow and the rest) discuss their plans now that they have control of the city.
Geeze. I didn't know Scourge got himself caught too. Guess we can add him to the shortlist of " Worst Saviors Ever ". Let's see ... what was going to happen originally? *Thinks* Originally I was going to have some hero who just so happened to be nearby interfere with the attack. Either they were going to manage to rescue somebody (Sally) or they were going to cause everyone to scatter and the King and Queen would still be presumed lost. The person I originally had for that was Julie-Su, but I'm not sure if they're still active and we're pretty shorthanded when it comes to Heroes outside of the city. I might just have to go another route. The alternative? The Nocturne just caught two of the most powerful mobians there are. Unless you have a chili dog factory inside your fancy prison they might not like it in there. They'll figure out something (we already have that 'something' in mind sort of). Just might not be immediately. |

I think it'd be a horrible idea to have NICOLE be offline for good. Essentially, she is the first AND last line of defense for the citizens of Portal, especially when the Freedom Fighters and most other forces are out on missions (though I AM going off of what I read off of the Archie Sonic wiki. ^^;) I do like the second idea about being offline of her own will to prevent some kind of disaster. If we had to go with any of those three choices, that's the one is should be. While I'm still posting here, could I get a recap PM'ed to me of what I missed while I was gone? |

The last post in the " Strike " Thread pretty much sums it up. Far as what happened to Eggman goes .. he fled to safety towards the tail end of the attack and is back at the Eggdome. So says the Eggman-mun. Now far as Eggman's next move goes you'll have to partner up with Eggman-mun to see what they're going to do now. |
