Not a Spoiler ...

Log Summary: Following Dr. Quack's examination Sally allows the Freedom Fighters to take a short break before meeting in their inner-city Meeting Hall. The Princess wandering off on her own makes her an easy victim for an unknown capture. Sonic is (unsurprisingly) the first to reach the Meeting Hall. When he gets there he accidentally knocks over an ancient urn that contains the essence of a powerful demon ... Rouge: Rouge kept pace beside Shadow, silent except for the clicking of her heels. All for show, of course. All in all, whatever happened, this had been an entertaining and thus far profitable trip, and she was happy to keep following the hedgehog for now. Antoine: Antoine moved back to Bunnie's side as she stepped out of the cell, sighing softly. It had been a stressful twenty-four hours, and with no payoff in sight just yet he was growing weary. Still, he would try to keep up appearances. "We found not very much at HQ," he told her, rubbing the back of his head. "Only lists." The rest, he felt, didn't really need to be discussed. Tails: Tails set the controller down on the table. His spy-bot was still placed outside of the prisons door. Although he didn’t see any of the events that went on inside, he heard most of it. Even though he didn’t comprehend a lot of it, for some of the things he heard were a bit…. disturbing. Nevertheless, things sounded serious. If Scourge really was sick, being Sonic’s counterpart, could the blue blur possibly get it as well? Whatever it was? It was a little too soon for the fox to make much of it. For all they knew it could mean nothing. His two tails flicked up and down restlessly. His ears upright as he continued to listen for any more voices from the controller; he’d leave it out there for a few more minutes to see if he could hear any other information before bringing it back… Scourge: Scourge slowly peeled himself off the floor as the three mobians left him in the cell again. Thanks for helping him up, guys. He only lost a gallon or two of his blood thanks to the doctor who was supposed to be helping him. The first thing he did when he got back on his feet was used the sink in the corner of his cell to wash the drying blood off his fur before it set. His ears swiveled back and forth in an oddly peculiar matter that reflected his earlier odd behavior. Where was she? With the group. On cue he looked over his shoulder to look at the cluster of Freedom Fighters leaving the prison. Dr. Quack: Dr. Quack decided to take his leave from the group to examine the sample that he took from Scourge. " I'll relay anything I find through NICOLE. " He told them before hobbling off towards the Tommy Turtle Memorial Hospital. Yes really. Tommy Turtle had a hospital named after him in his honor. That means in they'll have to rename planets in honor of the Freedom Fighters. Except for Sonic; he still had that shitty statue somewhere. Shadow: When they arrived at the base, Shadow opened a side door and allowed Rouge to step through first. He trailed his eyes to the left very slowly, catching a glimpse of her cleavage as she passed before looking away nonchalantly. So far he'd been good enough not to raise suspicion, simply by being so calm and slow about it. Perhaps he didn't share others' enthusiasm, but they were a curious thing. You'd have to be made of stone to not look every now and then, no matter who you were, and Shadow, close as he came to it, was not entirely made of stone. Sally: Sally stooped to collect the bag, leaving her at the back of the group. She frowned and upright herself, calling out to the others in case they were already moving out, mentally or physically, "We need to meet back in the board room. Everyone go take a breather, clean up after going to HQ or..." 'touching Scourge' was implied here, "whatever. And be back in the hall in fifteen." Sonic: Sonic had exited the cell and was making his leave after the doctor. He saw no point hanging around here and was hoping to get out before... A meeting. Sonic paused before continuing. He was tempted to argue but Sally has been particularly hard-headed these past few days. No doubt as a result of Scourge's appearance, but still. He could just forget; but no need to have her barking at him anymore than she has already lately. Blue didn't feel very dirty so he decided to go for a clean run instead. Where? Anywhere. Didn't matter. Bunnie: ::Gah, this mood had gotten far too heavy…and she didn't really care that Sally was standing right there, either. A quirk of smile played mischievously upon her lips before she leaned into Antoine, forcing him to stop walking and ending with her gently pinning him to the wall. Curvaceous softness plushed into his body as she pressed, leaning up to mouth gently at one of his ears, naughty little fingers toying just so with the buttons of his uniform:: …yanno…there're other cells in hea'. If y' don't cheer up, ah jus' might have ta make a bit of a citizen's arrest… ::Ohhh, they'd be along in a moment…maybe…:: Rouge: "Such a gentleman," Rouge crooned as she stepped back, favoring Shadow with a slight tip of her head and a fluttering of lashes. Truthfully, Shadow's apparent indifference was rather intriguing. Ah well, there'd be time for that later. "So. Any special reason we're here?" Antoine: He gulped, ears falling back a bit as he slid his arms about her waist. One did not simply get used to Bunnie, after all. One thing was certain, he coul never deny he was one lucky coyote. After a moment he would lean forward a bit to nuzzle at the base of her ear. "I am at your mercy. But first – ze shower." Maybe they could both take care of it at once. Water conservation is very important, you know. Tails: Tails’ ear twitched as he heard, over the enhanced sound of footsteps, Sally’s orders for everyone to meet in the board room (or the hall?). He turned back to the controller, pushing up from the chair back to his feet and picked up the device. Should he attend too? Before making that decision he pressed a few commands on the control, giving the little mech its instructions to return to his workshop. It did so, turning from its position and heading back the way it had come some time before, meaning for now, the little fox just had to wait for it… ?: Telling the group to separate was going to be a fatal mistake for at least one of its members. A sinister force was watching for the right opportunity to make their move of the security that these pack animals had. Always sticking so close to one another. It was sickening! With the Freedom Fighters separating to go on break there was a hole in their defenses. The ever watchful NICOLE couldn't account for everything. Her entire system went into a hiccup that lasted for about five seconds before it returned to normal. That was all the time that was needed to snatch a certain red headed squirrel by the hair to pull her back behind one of the empty wooden huts, a hand covered with thick material clamping down over her mouth to prevent her from screaming. Don't you worry, precious. It would all be over soon ... Shadow: "To... discuss the situation with the Commander." Shadow stepped in behind her and took only a quick glance behind him to make sure the door closed correctly. Despite having opened the door for her, he stepped quickly around her, once more driven by purpose, and walked at a fast pace down the right hallway that lead towards the back of the building. He came to his destination and entered without knocking, earning a bitter stare as he folded his arms. "I'm surprised you didn't call back immediately," he wanted to smirk because he had turned off the sound on the communicator, but the striped hedgehog held a straight face as always. "I detected no Chaos Force. Whatever caused it had already deserted the area by the time we arrived." "Then you found nothing at all?" He wasn't convinced in the least, and Shadow lowered his eyelids, catching this immediately. Had they sent him to get the Emerald, perhaps? No, this was just the usual suspicion. "There was a Chaos Emerald. Hardly enough to cause the sort of field you suggested." Before his superior could point a finger, he continued, "But I can assure you, it's in safe hands now." This suggested a certain blue hedgehog, and after a brief staredown between the two stubborn men, all others in the room ignored, Shadow waved dismissively and left the room. Sally: As the Princess watched Bunnie and Antoine get a bit distracted, she felt the gradual urge to part ways from the two as quickly as possible. Unfortunately for her, that placed her perfectly for her captor. She half-gasped before her mouth was covered, her breaths immediately cut off by the foreign hand before she started to breathe hectically through her nose. Both arms went to grab at the hand pulling her hair, legs flailed wildly. She took a second to compose herself, then put all her strength into twisting herself free, dropping the bag somewhere along the way (right now, the hedgehog's drugs hardly mattered), still to no avail. As she realized they were headed away from everyone else, she arched her back as best she could and tried to slam her foot into her captor's leg - anything to just get a call out for help. Bunnie: ::Unfortunately, not Even Bunnie's ears would be able to catch anything if Sally couldn't get a real sound out. Blissfully unaware that anything was happening, she would be drawing her husband off for a mutual shower…among other things…before the meeting.:: Rouge: Rouge minced along behind Shadow, smirking just a bit at his response. By the time they actually reached the Commander, of course, she was the picture of innocence – suspicious in itself, perhaps, but it wasn't as if they hadn't been observing Rouge's antics for some time and it would likely be brushed out. She'd wait just outside the door, turning to lean against the wall with one ear turned toward the conversation... such as it was. As Shadow came back out she straightened and stretched before following again. "I think that went well, don't you?" Antoine was beyond distracted... like Bunnie, he heard nothing, and was all too easily led off, unaware of any misfortune befalling his comrades. Tails: "…Hm?" His ears flicked, perking up with curiosity as he heard a strange sound. He stood very still, trying to listen. Did he imagine it? It sounded like… something hitting the floor? His eyes scanned the area. Everything looked to be in its place. The fox shrugged his arms as he put the controller back on the table… but as he did, he heard another sound. Only a little louder. His left ear flicked again, his eyes immediately focusing on the controller, it being the source of the noise. The sound was strange, but that may be because the machine it controlled enhanced sounds though sensitive sonic sensors, making them louder than they should be. It didn’t sound like anything he would normally hear in the forest… though maybe that was because the bot made it different? "…" He pressed a button, which had made the mech stop where it was, just to see if he would pick up any more sounds nearby. Just to be sure it wasn’t anything… ?: Calling out for help simply couldn't be allowed. The time would come for the rest of the Freedom Fighters to join their leader soon enough. This was not the time. Her captor had an unusually strong grip on her that suggested that they were no ordinary mobian. The hand that yanked her hair moved down to grab a handful of that fluffy tail to drag her to her final destination. Kicking backwards brought her foot in contact not with an organic leg but rather with a thick piece of metal. Gold to be precise. It seemed as though the mysterious figure was pulling Sally in through one of those instant teleportation rings that used to be only used by the echidnas. Since the creator started selling those rings to the general public there was no telling who it was or where they intended on taking her. Her foot came up short because they had already stepped through the other side where she was about to go. One more firm yank of the tail would pull her through with the back of her knees catching onto the bottom of the ring to effectively sweep her off her feet. After both bodies went through to the other side the portal to Mobotropolis would close automatically to effectively trap her. On the other side Sally was simply thrown to the floor. There she would be completely at their mercy. Shadow: "As always," he snorted, arms still crossed in a hostile manner. That human.. well, there was nothing he could do about it. Neither really trusted one another, but they had a mutual goal. That was enough to keep them out of one another's hair for the most part. He started down the hall, apparently no longer concerned with his mission. "Do you have to do anything here?" Sonic: Despite how fast Sonic is, it was a wonder that he might be late getting back at the board room. He tended to lose track of time, especially when it was something he didn't exactly want to participate in. How long did she say again? Fifteen minutes. How long has it been? Well, it wasn't like he wore a watch. He'd just make a guess and for the time being lose himself in the only adrenaline rush he's gotten thus far out of this predicament (not that he was hoping anything bad would happen). A good run got his heart racing, helped clear his head, and generally put him in a good mood. A streak of blue here and there, all around the city, and using other Mobian's as entertaining obstacles. Those toned legs were but a blur as his very frame that finally came into view back to their current headquarters until something could be done at Freedom HQ. Was he late? Well, if he was, that's why he brought along a few flowers for Sal. A couple of violets and a daisy. Even if he wasn't, it was sure to be a charming gesture from him and put her in a better mood. Rouge: "Not really, no." She shrugged, her wings raising slightly to mirror her shoulders. "I might pop back over to the Goody Gang to see what's up with their new friend. The whole situation's a little bit interesting. But other than that – no plans. Suggestions?" Tails: Once again, ears twitched as he heard a loud clank of… metal, it sounded like? Or something along that nature; it sounded oddly familiar though. Shrugging that off, he knew that wasn’t a normal sound that you would hear just randomly going off. At least not around that area. It just didn’t sit right with the fox. Picking up his controller again, he punched in a few commands, moving the spy-bot so it turned in a circle to look at its surroundings. It had to be close by. It moved a few paces… And there it was again! Quickly, he moved the bot towards the vibrating sounds that shot through its metal frame. Tails squinted his eyes, trying to see through the fuzz and snow on the screen of his controls. Now his curiosity really made him wish he had worked more on its reception for visuals. All he could really see were a few frames of colored pictures, and mostly shadows of what he could see through the lousy transmission. His eyes widened slightly as he recognized one of the images his bot sent to him from behind a underbrush. A large ring, he could make out… And someone’s outline that he could not recognize… but that was enough to convince him that something was up. Turning on his heels, Tails ran out of the door of his workshop and headed towards the direction his bot was… Sally?: There Tails would find ... Sally? Though she appeared to be a little disoriented from one thing or another she appeared to be alive and well. Seeing a familiar two tailed fox come into the picture was motivation enough to straiten the curve in her back to move into a more natural position. " Tails? " She questioned softly with a shake of her head to dispel the fog clouding her mind. Where was she supposed to be going? The meeting. That's right. She couldn't be late for the meeting that she arranged with the other Freedom Fighters just minutes before. Any questions that the young fox had for her were disregarded with a dismissive flip of the hand. " We have to go meet Sonic and the others for a meeting, sweetie. " And if he was a good boy and didn't tell the others any funny things he saw out here he might get a Funny Kiss! Shadow: Shadow had thought about having her hack into the computers to see what was really up with the surge of Chaos Energy, but he furrowed his brow, not so sure how to make this request. "I am a bit... curious.. Do you think I should investigate the source of the disturbance? Or just ignore it?" He didn't trust Scourge's surrender last night, now that he really thought about it... What if it had something to do with that loud-mouthed hedgehog? Sonic: "Mm, must be early." Blue held the flowers against his chest as he looked around the room from where he stood, reluctant to take a seat at the wooden table, stretched long enough for quite a few people to sit amongst each other. This board room hadn't been used in a while but they had to make due when Scourge entered the picture. It gave him some time to really look at the accessories decorating the shelves and pictures of past Acorn family members. Wandering near a fire place, he noticed something peculiar. A symbol he wasn't sure as to what it meant but it was branded on what appeared to be an urn settled on top of the fire place. Not anything more interesting than that, Sonic immediately lost interest and started tapping his shoe against the floor. Looking back towards the door, he pondered again just how early he is. Who thought he'd be the one waiting up for them? Looking down at the flowers he had picked before, he rose them up to give them a sniff... but to his surprise, a small bee had actually been in the daisy, and was rising in a panic wreck. Startled, he jerked his arm back, crashing it into something that fell against the floor, the flowers released in this frantic state. Sonic gaped down at what he had done, ashes spread across the floor that obviously belonged to a past loved one. Bunnie: ::Well of -course- the resident happy couple would be arriving just in time to see the hedgehog's grave misstep, no pun intended. Bunnie's hand flew to her mouth in astonishment as she gasped. Even if she had not previously known what was in there, it was fairly easy to figure out at this point. Not one to gawk, however, she'd rush over to help him back to his feet:: You awright, Sugah-hog? ::her gaze flittered over the settling ash with a grimace, ears falling a bit:: Oh, Sweetness…this is gonna be a durn good mess. Antoine, get a clean pan an' a piece a' card or somethin', we gotta save as much as we can… ::As soon as she had the items in hand, Bunnie'd start carefully scraping the ashes together, cautioning the other two to step lightly. Now what on Mobius had caused such an unusual misstep from Sonic?:: Mephiles: Not a second after Bunnie started to clean up, the ashes swirled in what appeared to be a tiny whirlwind on the floor. From the dust rose a black cloud which turned into a surge of dark energy, it spiraled upwards, scattering the ashes on the floor as it shot around the room, creating a burst of wind. The black cyclone circled back towards the hedgehog, and pooled on the floor at his feet, narrowly missing the vibrant blue fur as it came crashing into the floor. Surprisingly there was no sound, just the distortion of Sonic's shadow as the Nightshade took its form, and began to ascend from a second dark cloud. A cruel laughter echoed inside of the minds of those nearby, and a greyed, mirrored image of Sonic slowly upright itself, although his head still seemed to be a bit to heavy for his shoulders. And this hedgehog was rather missing a mouth. With the lighting in the room, it had almost been a difficult task to take on this creature's shade... Not really. "To what do I owe this occasion?" He gave what might be considered a bow. "You have done me a great service." A second round of forced laughter. Sonic: His face was comically horrified. Thank goodness it hadn't been Sal that just entered the room, he could only imagine what she'd do! He was embarrassed enough that Bunnie and Antoine had caught him. He would have tried to clean up himself in hopes of no one noticing but it was too late. Looking apologetically at Bunnie as if it had been her deceased relative that had been scattered all over the floor, his thoughtful gift certainly backfired as he too started to help with the clean up. However, before he could do that, he realized what they intended to gather back up was being blown away! How was that possible? No windows were open, no source of the wind was natural. That became quite obvious when something started to stir against the floor. "What the...?" Green eyes blinked dumbly as a spine tingling laughter made him shudder in a strange feeling of deja vu. Before he knew it, however, he was staring back at another him. Like one Scourge wasn't enough. What the hell was going on here? Unlike his Anti-self, he didn't stand a chance against the aura that radiated from him and the sheer evil he felt in return. Scourge was a joke compared to this guy. "I... did? Who are you?" Better question here, "What are you?" Bunnie: ::Antoine would have to give a little shriek at that…rather unexpected result of their efforts. Bunnie fell back on her derriere, gaping in astonishment. Just what the hell had -been- in that urn?! Obviously not someone's grandmother. A cold chill bolted over her body, her expression wavering somewhere between fear of the thing and offense that it had apparently decided to twist itself into the form of someone she cared about…echoing Sonic's thought that Scourge was quite enough. Get away fromit, Sonic. Get away...!:: Mephiles: There was a slight tilt of the head as acknowledging the questions posed, and a sharp glint in his eye of amusement. "Ahhh.. It has been a while since a mortal has seen me, it appears I have been forgotten." The djinn took a moment to look over the other Mobians in the room, eyeing them as if they were a rather interesting thing to look at. "I.." he gestured to himself with a folded hand over his chest, "am Mephiles the Dark." He took a single, awkward step towards Blue, deep emerald eyes narrowing just a bit as he focused. "But you... you have not introduced yourself, either, have you?" his coarse voice echoed. The hand moved away from his chest, rising up a little at a time towards Sonic's face. Sonic: He felt his muscles tense throughout his athletic frame, knowing immediately what he had done, what had resulted, was very, very bad. It was like nothing he's encountered before and a part of him just wanted to run away. He found himself frozen, however, in those terrible eyes that literally felt as if it was piercing through to his very soul. Hands clenched into fists, nails digging against his palms to remind him to not get distracted. "Bunnie, Ant.. How about you guys notify Sal of our new guest." It wasn't a suggestion, it was him telling them to get the hell out of here. At the hand that started to reach for him, Sonic instantly stepped back, eyebrows forcibly furrowing to mask the fear that might have otherwise flickered through those green eyes. "Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog." He covered, pressuring a grin onto his face. "Interesting place for you to be hangin' out. An urn? What's up with that?" Bunnie: ::If Sonic thought she was going to leave him -alone- with this thing, he was out of his spiny little head. It would take some very firm words to her husband to get -him- to play messenger, while Bunnie herself moved forward. That…that monstrosity, whatever it was, was bad enough, she would not allow it to approach, let alone -touch- her friend. Something was undeniably Bad about this thing. Fleshly fingers pulled Sonic even further back as her less vulnerable metal arm was brought to the forefront in a warding gesture, her eyes settling on Mephiles with a leaden glare:: Ah'm sorry, this hea's a private affair. How's about we findja a nice new urn an' you jus' crawl on back inside, hmm? Mephiles: As expected, the hedgehog shrank away from him. How he loved to tease these mortals so. Always so absolutely terrified of his existance. All with good reason. "A fascinating story, but a long one. I'm certain we'll have time for that much later." His once extended hand dropped heavily to his side, as if it was too much for him to bear. Mephiles moved so unnaturally that it was obvious he hadn't taken the form of another being in a long time. Bunnie's suggestion drove him back into that impenetrable, hollow laughter, "If you don't want me to stay, then I will gladly take my leave... Bunnie, is it?" Hah, pathetic if you thought about it.. he could easily have gone back in time and corrected those robotic limbs if she'd been kind enough to share her story. Not that he would. "However, you might find it a bit useless to attempt to re-seal me." Sonic: Sonic was disappointed Bunnie didn't heed his warning. Though she was strong, he had no clue what this guy was capable of, and he was confident in his own speed to get him out of the situation if things took a turn for the worst. "Why is that?" Blue ventured, hands relaxing at his sides. Though his stance was more casual than defensive, it was a habit of toying with enemies when his guard had never dropped, not for a second. Especially not in front of this guy. If he had been sealed once already though, surely it could be done again. But why would they need to? A question he felt would come to light all in due time. Bunnie: ::What better to have to complement speed than strength? Granted, both may turn out to be entirely useless against…whatever this was. Sonic's preferences for the situation had been thoroughly overruled. Sonic…would never leave Bunnie solo in the face of something like this. He couldn't possibly hold it against her that she was doing the same now. Her contact with Sonic allowed him to peripherally feel the sudden shiver that overtook her as the mouthless thing spoke again. How…how was it doing that? The intrusion into her mind was very nearly as unsettling as the creature's appearance to begin with. What to do? Get out, for starters. Second, have Nicole bring up the internal defenses against this thing, contain it. She began nudging Sonic towards the door, keeping herself between him and It:: Well, it's been nice… Mephiles: The djinn answered as if this were the most ordinary thing in the world - common knowledge. "You cannot seal a being of power in an object of ordinary value." Did they honestly think it would be that simple? Probably. That seemed to be the running record for most of the creatures he'd met in his existance. "Indeed it has. Again, I offer you my gratitude, Sonic the Hedgehog." This time the bow was more formal, he swayed forward, arm across where his heart would be, were he really inhabiting Sonic's body, and he sank low. Lower and lower, until he melded into the floor, a small puff of black dust gradually fading behind him. Sonic: The only reason why he had been reluctant to leave to begin with was in order to try to figure out what was up with this thing and where it might have intended to go. Sonic was reluctant to stay, however, at Bunnie's encouragement. Still, he never took his eyes off of it as it disappeared, eyes narrowing, facial expression sheerly troubling. "This isn't good, Bunnie. We can't let that thing leave. Who knows what it'll do." Now that they were out of its sight, assuming such anyway, Sonic took Bunnie's metal wrist into his hand and sped forward, rushing her to run along with him or be pulled along in a hurry to get out of the building. He kept his eyes out for it and let go of her once they were outside. He was also looking for Antoine and Sally and Tails. Any of them. Where was everybody? Bunnie: ::As if things weren't creepy enough, the thing had virtually melted away.:: Ah know, Sugah-hog, we gotta make real certain everythin's locked up tight. Nicole can probably scan fer th' monster an' we can take it out somehow. ::The sudden seize-and-run didn't surprise her nearly as much as it used to, at least, and she would not resist, her own foot-jets kicking in to keep comfortable pace. She could, after all, keep up an average with him, though he'd leave her in the dust if he put forth the effort…:: …dunno, but we should find out. We may actually have somethin' worse'n Scourge on our hands... |
