Sonic virtually had to hold his breath and hope for the best and of course he could only go without air for so long. He was already unconscious while they cleared a way for him to breathe and got to work. They had to find a way to stop the bleeding and realign his rib, not to mention the fact that it did in fact manage to puncture a lung. It was rather severe and even after surgery the probability that he would suffer permanent respiratory problems was high. Which meant the guy that used to love to run wouldn't be doing much of that ever again.

Not a Spoiler ...
|
Scourge: Scourge couldn't say that he cared too much why this mobian was bothering him this late at night. His bitter expression didn't change even as the chameleon presented that gift. Whatever it was. " Good for you. Just drop the damn thing and get lost. " Ouch. Well in his defense he had been really busy at the moment and needed to get back to what he was doing before Silver lost the will for it. If his slave got all excited and then had to wait it out it'd take forever to get him back to that point again! " ... unless. " The green hedgehog approached the chameleon rather suddenly with a small grin on his lips. There was a certain sinister intent in his eyes as he looked over the delivery mobian's body briefly. He settled on the face soon enough. " You would like to be put up in a room for the evening. " Espio: He only had one thing to do, pass along the message from the head of his House and move on. No more no less. Refusing to show the fear that was obvious in his bright yellow eyes. Inwardly he was cowering, fearing the response Scourge would give him. Thankful the response was just a simple get out and go. About to do just as he was asked, kneeling to put the box down before the door. When he heard the Lord of the House speak up he turned his gaze upward. A blush quickly came to the chameleon's cheeks, making him fidget uncertainly. He was nothing but a lowly messenger, a butler when that service wasn't in use. It was obvious what the green hedgehog had planned, and he wanted no part in it. But would it be rude to turn him down? He shuddered at the thought of what consequence waited for him if he said no. And he knew what saying yes would mean. "Lord Scourge, I must honorably re-.." a sound from behind, the sound of wheels creaking. Before he could look over his shoulder he watched as his couch was pulling out of the gravel path and charging away. This was NOT part of the plan! "Wait, no!" Looks like he was stranded. Rob o: Rob O watched the doctors work diligently. There was only so much they could do. Stitching the open wounds and draining the excess air and blood from his lungs. The blue hedgehog would be pumped full of drugs to keep him from moving and inadvertently opening the now closed wounds. After the procedure had been finished, many weary faces all around, the Slave was wheeled into a private chamber to get some rest. He would need it. All those who fell into the Lower Levels of the House was destined to die here. One way or another. That was the fate of a Gladiator. Scourge: Since the butler was a butler and not, say, a slave who was obligated to please whoever propositioned them then he could refuse the offer. That did not mean that Scourge was just going to let the opportunity pass because he got a 'no' the first time. Oh no. When it came to chasing a piece of tail that he had even a mild attraction to he could be a persistent bastard. He noticed the way that the chameleon blushed when he made that offer. Really who else but a complete moron would pass up the chance to sleep with one of the most powerful men in the Kingdom? It could be the beginning of something very wonderful, and scandalous, for him. Scourge was about to go in for the kill when he too caught sight of the carriage rolling way. His ears shot up in alert and he looked at the sight for himself. For a moment he looked surprised, but the second he realized that this played right into his hands he took a bold step forward to 'comfort' the butler. " Well then ... " The Lord had no problems invading the lower male's personal space as he stepped up beside him. A hand moved out to touch his shoulder and roll across the back of it. When he got to the other side he roughly pulled the chameleon against his body. " It looks like you don't have a ride back to your place. " Scourge had a thing for stating the obvious. He also had a way of imposing his opinion on the people around him regardless of their standing. That involved slowly working the chameleon around so they were heading inside of the manor. The box? Some servant could pick up the box and bring it inside if they wanted but he wasn't going to order it. Whatever present that the butler came to bear could wait until the morning now that he had not one but two more interesting things to do. " We're a few miles out from the nearest town and this region's patrolled by Marauders this time at night. " The slave hunters were known for just picking off travelers who walked alone on these roads regardless of their standing. A slave was a slave in their eyes. " Why don't you come in and stay a while? " Espio: Espio had no intention of accepting the 'offer' Scourge had so kindly given him. But as he watched his only means of transport swiftly vanish into the night he cured the driver and prayed they would only befall something horrible and humiliating. It was the last time he would ever ride with a Crocodile. Attention back on the green hedgehog, he felt like this was going to be a night of a few final moments. As tempting as it was to decline he wasn't a fool. The night was dangerous, even with his ability to stealth there was no telling what he had to face. He was no Gladiator. He could careless of Scourge's ranking and power. He had his own home to uphold. But the chameleon had to admit the hedgehog was a smooth talker, if a little blunt. Each word was more salt to the wound. Would his House come for him in the morning? Depends on whether or not his ride made it home. 'Damnit.' Before he knew it he was being lead back into the House. His package left outside, shuddering in the cold. That wouldn't lead to good things come morning. Stumbling over his words as he was lead inside. "I can't possibly... I've never... perhaps I.." Scourge: The Lord of the House Hedgehog did have his own needs tonight that overrode the needs of pretty much everyone around him. He was not a total jackass about it, though. He was telling the truth when he said that the chameleon would likely be snatched by a Marauder trying to make it back home this late at night. In that case it would work in his benefit because he could just -buy- the chameleon from Finitevus in the morning and get to have his way with him anyway but Scourge really didn't want to have to wait. As a show of good faith he'll make a good attempt to call around about getting the stuttering mobian a ride home in the morning ... after he got what he wanted. " I -insist- that you stay here for the night. " And with a certain word in that sentence came a testing hint that lightly hinted that his will would not be overridden here. He was already practically dragging him inside of the house and towards the hallway leading down to the basement again. A hinting nod to Maggie ensured that the door was slammed shut and locked behind them for the evening. As he continued to stutter the grin on his lips just grew broader. This guy was almost as shy as Silver even without that pretty little collar 'round his neck. Perhaps with a little exchange back and forth that could be changed. Already a devious plan was being formed in his mind but he couldn't risk getting the servants into place to execute it. It would be all him this time. He just had to play his cards right. Scourge lead them down the same hallway that he lead Silver down earlier. They would put them at the top of a staircase before Scourge said anything more. He decided to comment on something that he noticed earlier. For this he had to lean in and whisper into where he thought the chameleon's ear was. Hard to tell. " I'm sure there's plenty of things you've never done before. " And with his words his hand dipped lower. Fingers scraped across his spin to the small of his back where he gave the chameleon a savage shove forward to send him downward. Espio: There was little telling what was going on in that deranged hedgehog's head. If it was anything like his Mistress... he shuddered. But try as he might the male's smile and light blue irises were almost hypnotic. he couldn't look away and couldn't very well ignore the effect it had on him. It wasn't like he was in any position to deny him. Under the roof of the Noble he couldn't refuse him. It was disrespectful and would reflect the standing comradeship between the Houses. Fuck it, he wasn't out. Glancing over his shoulder at the door, watching as one of the servants closed it and locked it down. Ok, he could service this, just for a night. He would just have to beg for a room to himself. Like that would happen. Unaware of the house's structure he had no idea where they were heading. But his natural paranoia had him stiffening. Espio just had to remember he was safe, for the most part. He wasn't a pleasure slave, he had no skill what so ever in the field. The worst thing that came to mind was being put to work in another noble's home. By morning his House would come for him. Right? "Sir, where are we-..." Those words were spoken from the lips of a devil. Not that he would have time to realize what was happening, feeling the hand drag lower. Thankfully his suit kept him from actually touching him. But it didn't protect him from going tumbling down the stairs into the Basement. Curling up tight to prevent any serious damage. He took the fall like a pro. Seemed this wasn't his first time taking a nasty fall. Groaning, trying to get back on his feet, the spill wasn't so bad. But he felt this was going to lead to a very, very long night. OOC: Last cutaway for this day. Next post will begin the following morning. |

House of Rose Sonic: Sonic had just barely made it. The blue hedgehog had luck working in his favor the moment he was able to open his eyes again. Odds were that he should have never gotten this far. Sonic -felt- that much when he became conscious. He was in severe pain whenever he took a breath. He felt like his chest was in a vice it was so sore. Chances were it may stay that way for a while. He had only been asleep for roughly twelve hours. How he even had the energy to wake up now may have been a surprise in its self. The secret behind his success was his incredibly fast healing rate. Any average mobian would have likely succumbed against all of this torment but Sonic managed to pull through. ...Much to his dismay. The blue hedgehog had already accepted his fate and needless to say it's done a little something to his mind. Living in fear, being in torment for so long, it could break the strongest of spirits. Though he had started his life as a slave not long ago, it was the worst on those that were of his age and had never experienced anything else outside of his sheltered life. Sonic was never meant to live up to this but he had no choice. There was no going back at this point. A picture that was crumpled up could never be perfect again. Sonic took in his surroundings, shock playing upon his features still as he tried to recall what happened, where he was, before it all transformed into a mix of desperate sad eyes and a pained flash darting between them. He couldn't mask the physical and mental hurt he was suffering but his expression did a good job of hiding most of it aside from what those green windows were giving away. Rob: There was little the teal hedgehog could do but sit back and watch the doctors work. When they were finished and wheeled the unconscious Blue into the single, lonely room Rob O was right behind him. Beneath the wild mess of bandages it was hard to tell there was a hedgehog beneath it all. Unable to admire what beauty that had once been Sonic the hedgehog. No parting words, the hooded figure turned and leave. He would be back before the male woke, he hoped. A soft rapt at the door would signal to the male that he had company. Though Rob O was certain the hedgehog wasn't awake. But the slight stirring spoke otherwise. How long was he awake? Would he panic and try to flee? Not like that was going to happen any time soon. Hands clasped behind his back, approaching slowly from the shadows. His voice was low, brassy, a dramatic flare in the darkness. "Good morn, fair hedge. I pray sleep hath come easy? Art ye in pain?" Obviously. Sonic: The obvious answer to both those questions was no. Then again, he supposed he had gotten to sleep easily. There was no fighting against that. Sonic still felt exhausted and weak. He was tempted to go back to sleep but felt too unsettled. Who was this guy? "Where..." He inhaled painfully, "am I?" Being carried out of the dog house was all a bit of a blur but he did remember it. He had thought it was Scourge who was certainly going to kill him. Maybe he was saved by someone his mom knew? Maybe this was the opportunity his mom was so vague about before. Could it be that he was taking him back to be with his family and friends? For a second, Sonic looked almost hopeful. "Who are you?" Rob: He would have to take this slow, still unsure of the exact trauma and damages the hedgehog before him had faced. Damaged goods, no doubt. But when faced with such a helpless, broken 'brother' he could not leave him behind. But now Rob O feared for what would come next for the blue hedgehog. Here's hoping the fate that befell him before would help him through the training that would come next. "I hail by Rob O the hedge, Arena Lord. Ye art within the House of Rose. I hath saved ye from death." He pulled up a seat, his features still hidden behind his hood. His bright, lime green eyes piercing, cold and empty. There was little kindness he could offer. Sonic: House of Rose? Sonic stared warily at Rob. What little hope he could muster was out the window. Now he just appeared tense and nervous, immediately looking away. He didn't want to watch, dreading his expression would give away the answers before he asked. As if postponing his reaction at all would lesson the truth any. Sonic was afraid to find out but he had to know. "What... do you want from me?" Rob: "Must ye be so full of questions when rest should be thy prime concern?" Teal shook his head, letting out a soft sigh. It was always the hardest part breaking in a new Slave. And it always felt harder to train one much like himself. Hedgehog. Leaning back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest he let the question settle in the air for a bit. It was humorous to watch Sonic writhe. "Is it not obvious? Ye art no longer a tool of Scourge's house, but now a tool of Rose." He would let that sink in. "Ye belong to me and my Mistress, thine role simple. Do ye understand?" Sonic: Sonic looked at him funny. Did Scourge give him away or sell him? Was he stolen? Whatever the case may be, it didn't seem as though this other hedgehog realized just -who- he is. Now it appeared he had only been taken from one hell to another. He was still a slave, but surely whoever lived here wasn't as bad as Scourge? So far, it's been a rarity to meet a kind face, let alone anyone with actual power. The chances were, this 'Master' wasn't going to be much better if at all. This time, Sonic didn't say anything. He looked away, looking none too happy about these events. He stayed quiet, but reminded of what no answer could resemble, he nodded his head in understanding just so he wouldn't irritate the other mobian. |

TIME SKIP: Our other player has had to drop out. You can assume that Sonic was found out at Rosey's and forced to be returned. Scourge: They were less then five weeks away from the assessment that would determine their futures. Lord Scourge himself was not worried. In the past few months infighting among the Lords had all but cemented his position as King of Moebotropolis. As a result he'd been given a betrothed who he was expected to marry when he became official after the assessment. Scourge's Fiance' was ... special. Actually she was a tyrannical bitch who was not allowed in his manor until it became official. He made sure that every door in the manor was locked every night to make sure she couldn't get in, too! There was another bright spot in his life. That much was present in the two slaves that he'd acquired months ago. Sonic and Silver had filled out enough to be considered for a place at the King's mantle. Silver was an easy slave to train and remained at his side as the Head Slave and essentially the overseer of his estate throughout the months. Now Silver regularly slept in his bed where he embraced him nightly and held onto him for warmth until the following morning. As traditional holds the Lord had yet to sleep with his Lady so he made due with what he had. Silver would be kicked out of his chamber when Lady Rose moved in permanently so they best make use of the time they had together, right? His brother, Sonic, was kept at an arm's distance for a few reasons. That was the bad news. The good news was that his treatment had improved significantly in the physical department. After a few days he was actually permitted to move back into the manor and allowed to sleep on the 'dog bed' in the corner regularly. That's where he should have been now, right? Silver: That first serious night with Master had left some scars on the young slave. Unknowingly, he'd grown a little closer to Sonic in some twisted sense of logic. At least it wasn't as bad as Blue's experience though. Only two had...done things to him, and only one was a stranger. It didn't soothe him any though. Silver's relief when he saw Sonic actually alive when Scourge first brought him out of that cage couldn't be measured. The injuries Sonic had were horrific but somehow he'd managed to live through them. How? Silver could only guess through sheer willpower. Though Sonic himself didn't seem nearly as excited as Silver was. No surprise there. Silver had made sure that Sonic was properly taken care of. When he had the free time and the Master wasn't calling him to his room, Silver spent most of his time with Sonic and making sure he was okay. The wounds had healed nicely so far. Scourge had been right: Sonic needed a friend in this whole affair and Silver was more than happy to fill that role. Sonic: It took a while for Sonic to heal and even now he lost his breath easily whenever he got worked up. A good run exposing even half the speed he was capable of was almost entirely impossible. He would never be able to do his favorite past time again but Scourge didn't allow for much leniency for him to have his own time anyway. Fortunately, he wasn't too sore today and for the reasons he were were entirely different. Visually, things had improved from that one faithful day and night. Mentally, however, was another story. While Silver had helped tremendously, Sonic had changed. It may have been a good change for Scourge considering his intentions this entire time. Of course, he had Silver for that now, so his position felt almost entirely pointless. Despite how much sadness he held inside of him, he still had the hope that his mom or dad would be there for him. He did at least try to act normal whenever Silver was around. He was the only one that seemed to want to offer him kindness in this new hell and he didn't want to mess that up. Scourge: Not surprisingly Scourge was the first one to wake up this morning. Scourge usually went to work between dawn and noon. Today was his day off, however, so it was expected that he would spend some time around the estate before checking up on things in town. One perk of being owned by a Lord was that the Lord usually wasn't around to boss them at every possible moment. Instead they would be bossed around by Benjamin, Helga, or whoever else was supposed to be 'taking care' of them. Scourge moved around briefly before looking over to Silver across from him on the bed. He gave the white hedgehog a small kiss on the forehead before nudging him further. " Come on, babe. " He urged him to get up quietly before slipping off the side of the bed to get washed up and dressed. He also called over his shoulder to Blue. " HEY! " He barked aggressively. Green only did it because Blue was a rather heavy sleeper especially in the morning. " Get in the shower. We've leavin' in ten. " Sonic might want to talk him up on that. He was the one who was made to toil in the garden all day yesterday getting it ready for the Summer Arrangement. Sonic: Sonic was always so exhausted, it was no wonder how deep of a sleep he often fell in. That voice, a voice of his own that he grew to fear and hate, never failed to wake him, however. Sonic immediately stirred when he obnoxiously yelled at him. He peeked his eyes open, wishing morning hadn't come as quick as it did. There was nothing to ever look forward to aside from what little time he got to spend talking with Silver. And even then, there wasn't much he wanted to talk about around here. As Sonic lifted himself up, climbing to his feet, his back felt sore from all the work he did yesterday. It wasn't anything to complain about though. After all he's been through, that pain was barely noticeable as he headed for the shower to freshen up. Silver: What was a Summer Arrangement? He had no idea. He wasn't told. And seeing Sonic come back to the house all worn out like he was yesterday wasn't a very good clue. During those few months of healing, Silver had the chance to see Sonic's fear of water first hand. So it was interesting watching him get a bath like he did yesterday. Did he have a phobia? Yes, besides the obvious. Luckily that little factor hadn't come up just yet. Nodding to Master, he followed the green hedgehog, wincing a little at his loud tone so early in the morning. Maybe there was a better way to wake Sonic up but either Master hadn't found it yet or he just didn't care to. Whatever the case, the white hedgehog looked over at Sonic has he woke up and gave him a quick passing smile before following the master into the other room. Scourge: Silver could use the bath while he and Sonic used the shower. Scourge usually treated Silver much better then his over slave even after his true identity was revealed. Why? He supposed that he simply liked the shy hedgehog more then the other one who always seemed to be in a bad mood. At times he thought that he only kept him around because his parents would kill him if he got rid of his brother. Jules especially. He hated that man. " Get a quick bath, Silver. Twenty minutes. " Wait. Weren't they leaving in ten? Actually he meant that Sonic was leaving in ten minutes. They would have longer. And Sonic would have little time at all. It seemed that Scourge beat Sonic to the shower and quite rudely shoved him away from the shower door to get past. Right into the wall. Oops. At least he was relatively close to the wall already and wouldn't be seriously injured. " Go make yourself useful and get some towels. " He told the blue hedgehog lowly before stepping into the shower. Sonic: Sonic caught Silver's smile but whatever uplifting that did for him would be shattered by Scourge's constant bad attitude towards him. He was always in the bad mood? The green hedgehog didn't seem to have any other emotion aside from being a complete douche. He wasn't sure how he acted towards Silver while they were alone but whenever he was around it was obvious that the only ounce of decency he wanted to spend was solely on the white hedgehog. Lucky him. As he was beat to the shower, Sonic would have backed off on his own if given the chance. He winced as he was pushed into the wall but held his ground. He was never really that weak physically. He just had a bit of a respiratory problem now so when his heart pumped a little too fast and he started to pant, it was almost like he couldn't breathe. Acting out like that was all too common for him to get worked up over, however. Sonic simply held his tongue and went to retrieve towels as he had requested. Silver: "..." Without a word, Silver strode past Sonic and quickly picked up the towels himself. It wasn't much but Sonic was already looking exhausted. Seemed like the blue hedgehog didn't have much time to spare getting these if he wanted a quick shower. Silver had twenty minutes, he had time. Walking back to Sonic and placing the towels in his arms. Any small things like this he was happy to do for the other slave. It was hard at first. He knew this better than anyone. In a sense, he was acting the exact same way Blaze did when he first met her. Plus, he was head slave. He was allowed to help out other slaves in the palace. Nodding quickly to Sonic, still without a word, and going back to the bath tub. Even after all these months, he was still shy. Sonic: Just the gesture was nice. Sonic forced a smile at the other white hedgehog as he was handed the towels. He had to wait regardless though since Scourge insisted on bathing first. He stood by while Silver headed for the tub and glanced briefly at the shower. He sighed, wondering if he'd have any time at all to actually shower. Could he just skip it? He didn't care bein' a little unkempt. Scourge: Maybe. Turns out Scourge took the entire twenty minutes of the shower himself so there would be no time and no hot water for Sonic. Oh well. He overslept and lost out when he should have been up! If he'd been up before him and gotten a shower in he'd be able to have one wouldn't he? That hedgehog was hopeless. His Master stepped out of the shower and approached him directly, dripping wet, and shook himself rather wildly so he could at least have some moisture to clean the grime off his fur. Good enough? Good. He then took a towel from the top of the stack and dried his face. " You got the weedin' done, didn't you? " That was all they ever really talked about; his work. Sonic was fully expected to answer that question because he'd be reprehended if he didn't. He knew the rules. Sonic: Well Scourge seemed to have made his decision for him then. Alright, no shower. It didn't bother him too much. Considering some of the very worse he's experienced, it made him less likely to whine about other things. Not that he was a whiner. That otherwise proud nature would have already let slip plenty of insults though, but there wasn't much to feel proud about anymore. He flinched, turning his head as he shook off then stood there as Scourge took a towel. He glanced back at him, answering automatically, "Yes Master." The word never seemed to fail to make something twitch. This time it was an ear. Scourge: " Good. " Silver should be about ready to get out of the tub, too, but he wouldn't rush him too much. Instead he would give Silver a soft spoken reminder after glancing over his shoulder at the tub. " Come on, babe. We're about to leave. " Silver normally did not have to be told twice to do something so he expected that the white hedgehog be along soon enough. In the meantime he used a corner of the towel to get his ears as he shared some brief words with the other hedgehog. He couldn't quite call it a conversation since all Sonic normally did was listen but that was all right. He liked to talk. " Then I don't feel bad about havin' you slack off a little today. " Hm? That was a little odd. " The only work you're gonna do today is carryin' something for us out there. That's it. " Sonic: Slack off a little? Sonic figured there might be a catch so he didn't look too excited. "What am I going to carry, Master?" He imagined something really heavy. Like a giant safe or a bag of bricks. Neither idea really made sense but he bet the weight would be equivalent to something like that. Silver: Silver didn't need all twenty minutes. It barely took him ten minutes to wash himself. He'd gotten himself a towel before so as soon as he was done, Silver dried his face and quills and waited there for Master to finish. It was completely unfair on how Scourge was treating Sonic, but sadly he'd seen it all before. Once he'd been called, Silver immediately stood up. "Coming, Master." Brushing some imaginary dirt off his clean fur, Silver quickly dipped a rag in the draining tub and wrung out the excess water. Once he got close enough, he handed it over to Sonic. Again, certainly not much, but he could at least wash his face a little bit should he care to. Or maybe not. His choice. Without waiting for a thank-you, or even expecting one, Silver took his place by Master's side. Awaiting more orders to himself as the other two hedgehogs discussed Sonic's agenda for the day. Scourge: " Some baskets. " Not any brick filled baskets, either! They were filled with important things that they would need on their trip toward. Mainly food, water, and some light snacks that would keep them from going hungry on the trip. He'd only told Helga where they were going specifically so she could pack the right amount and type of food. For everyone else it was supposed to be a secret! " Helga's got them waitin' in her kitchen. Just grab them when we head down. " Health problems or not Sonic should be healthy enough to carry two ten pound baskets. If not he was in trouble: he was expected to carry -at least- ten pounds at his assessment. When Silver joined them he looked to him with a smile. " I got somethin' for you to carry, too. " He motioned for Silver to follow him out of the bathroom and to one of the dressers. Hidden inside were two heavy backpacks and a duffel bag. One of the two backpacks was yellow. The other was black. He explained when they got to the closet. " We're goin' on a little ... vacation. " Sonic:color=blue] Some baskets? That seemed aawwwfuully suspicious. Or maybe he was just paranoid. Why not? He had the right to be. But he just nodded his head, only mildly curious as to what was in the baskets. Thankful for the towel Silver gave him, he did in fact use it to wipe his face while Scourge took the white hedgehog into the other room. He was fairly quick to follow though. He always felt a little loss as to what to do unless he was told. He strived very hard not to be beaten but livin' in an environment where he simply did not feel wanted was hard enough. It made him seem even more anxious on his feet. Feet that itched to live up to their fast reputation again. He often reminisced at night and dreamed of his former life. It made reality that much harder, unfortunately. Nightmares also plagued him as he wondered why or when might Scourge finally do him in. He had every reason to at this point. What was holding him back? Silver: One, two...three bags. He was learning! One of the backpacks was handed off to him and Silver almost toppled over by how heavy it was. Maybe this was the thing that was filled with bricks? "Va...vacation, Master?" Now what were vacations again...? Oh right, they were like breaks from work but for really long periods of time. "Where are we going?" Scourge: Sonic just made things more complicated with the whole biological thing. He wasn't sure what to do about that beyond common law so he just kept his brother at a distance. The laws of the Kingdom stated that Noble Blood couldn't be split by anyone of equal or lower rank. That meant that he and a lot of his servants could get in serious trouble for what they did to Sonic even if he was just a slave. He figured the only way to keep himself from harming Sonic further was to keep his distance ... so he did. The rest of the staff followed suit. " Mmhmm. You two have been working pretty hard to get in shape for next month so I figured we'd take a few days off to relax. " They were just taking two days off, today and tomorrow, and returning on Monday morning to resume their duties. Though he didn't doubt that the three of them would have a good time once they got out there this was more for Sonic then anyone. The guy was exhausted and miserable. If he didn't shape up soon he'd have no chance of passing. Scourge picked up the yellow backpack and handed it to Silver. He'd carry the other one and the duffel-bag himself. See? He could work too! " We're going out of the country, actually. To a nice secluded island on a resort chain. Forgot what it's called. It doesn't matter, I think. " They were heading to a the Southern Islands but be forgot which one specifically. All he knew was that there was sun, surf, and plenty of beer. " Ya'll don't mind seafood, right? " When Silver got his bag on they'd head downstairs. Edited by Sonic the Hedgehog, May 27 2010, 02:57 AM.

Not a Spoiler ...

Sonic: Going out of the country? Sonic wasn't sure of what to make of this. He wasn't sure why Scourge would bother to take him if it was a real vacation. He seemed to get on his nerves more than anything even when he wasn't doing anything at all. Despite the excuse he gave, it was still hard to buy. But Sonic didn't say anything out loud. The blue hedgehog wouldn't mind some relax time regardless of what form it came in. If it came at all. He'd follow suit after them as they'd head downstairs, recalling the last vacation he had with his friends. They went camping, not too far away from their village. It was loads of fun but nowhere near under these tense and stressful conditions. He'd make the most of it - though he wasn't a big fan of seafood. Silver: This bag wasn't as heavy as the other one. Once it was secure he followed the master downstairs. It was kind of nice to be able to get a few days off with whatever they would be doing. Praticing this assessment had been extremely difficult. Scourge must have no idea what the word mercy meant, not that he expected it to be easy. But he'd never done anything like it before and Silver was determined to at least be somewhat presentable. Maybe this vacation thing wouldn't be so bad. He figured it was a bad idea to voice his question though, namely what in the world seafood was. Scourge: After they got their stuff settled downstairs it was right out of the door. Their mode of transportation for this trip was already waiting outside. It was a wonder that the driveway and road in front of the major was unusually large for a vehicle. There was a very good reason for that. Parked out front was the family's personal aircraft that he'd gotten the clearance to use for this little vacation. It was really his father's plane and he was the only one in the family who knew how to fly it. For obvious reason Jules forbade his usually intoxicated son from trying to fly it himself. Jules hired a small crew to take them out there and bring them back. A stewardess was waiting at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the passenger compartment. On one side of her were the stairs. The other? A cart for the bags. It looked like they wouldn't have to carry them the whole time. " Give it to her for now. Just pick it up again when we land. " He called over his shoulder as he headed up the stairs. Hopefully neither of them were anxious about getting on the plane. If anyone should be nervous it should be him! Sonic: Sonic had never been in a plane like this before. He approached, looking on with curiosity. He was the last to get on the plane as Scourge and Silver walked ahead of him. He didn't mind staying at a distance from them, or more particularly, the one that seemed to have planned all of this. A nice change from what he usually had planned for him. He wondered how long they were going to stay. He couldn't remember now if he said before or if he did he just forgot. Ah, well; he sort of looked forward to the change in scenery. He was tired of being confined inside the palace and was too nervous to want to go out with Scourge and Silver even if he got the courage to ask. Hopefully this trip would go without a hitch unlike the last time. Silver: Oh, a plane. He'd seen them before but never this up close. Let alone ridden in one before. The thing was huge! Handing his bag off, Silver nervously stepped into the plane. Personally he didn't like this kind of machinery very much. It was bad enough being in a car. But he didn't mind heights at all. He could fly, how could he? It was probably best not to let that information slip out, especially since he couldn't do it right now anyway what with the suppressors and all. The inside certainly looked comfy at least. He looked around from the doorway for a little bit before realizing that he probably should move so not to be in Sonic's way. Scourge: Today they were going to make a special exception to a certain rule. " Hey. " He called to the blue furred hedgehog who appeared to be taking in the sights. The Lord had been living with him for a while now but his name kept escaping him. Couldn't remember it now, either. He chalked it up to being too early in the morning to focus. " Sit in the back. In the chair. " Today would be the first time since the Lord took them in that Sonic and Silver would be able to sit in the same chair that the Free did. That was not necessarily Scourge being nice, however. It was a safety precaution. If they were to run into turbulence going there it was better that they were strapped down in a place where they couldn't hurt themselves. Then he locked eyes with Silver briefly. The look that he gave him; a silent indicator that he wanted the more favored hedgehog to follow him to sit. He wanted Silver to sit across from him at the table in the front. Those chairs were a lot larger and looked more comfortable then where Sonic was told to sit. That was because he was made to sit where the hired help usually sat. The Lord was courteous enough to make sure that Silver was settled and secured before sitting down himself. He gave the slave a little pet on the top of the head right before parting ways with him to sit down himself. " Erm ... " Green looked over his shoulder briefly before looking back to Silver. " Think he can hear us? " He was referring to Blue. Sonic: Scourge didn't have to worry about coming across thoughtful at all. Sonic had learned that whatever kindness he thought he could show had some other hidden motive behind it. He had constantly second guessed him since he said they were going on a vacation but he knew it would only keep him feelin' uptight if he didn't let it go. For once, he really did just want to relax, but it was like walking on egg shells all day long. It was so maddening. His ears perked to attention when he indicated for him to sit and where. The blue hedgehog considered the thought of having to sit on the floor but since this was a plane, he automatically assumed that he'd have to be buckled up in order for them to take off. He had never rode in one but he thought maybe it would be a little rough until they got off the runway. Sonic sat down by a window so he could lean against it and look out. It was easier to focus on the landscape they'd soon be flying over than lettin' himself feel bored or alone. Silver: The look was something he saw all the time with his current Master. He'd gotten used to it and what it meant. It was better to have that implanted in his head as well as all the other traits that slaves learned; reading their Master so they didn't have to work as hard to explain. Something you gained as the years go on. Silver followed of course and was grateful when Scourge strapped him in because he couldn't figure those things out if he tried. Quirking a curious eyebrow at Master's question. "Sonic?" He looked to the blue hedgehog. "I don't think so," he mumbled in response. Sonic didn't seem to be too interested anyway. Scourge: " Good. " The crew needed to just make a few more preparations before they could take off now that the passengers were in. This was going to be a very short twenty minute trip once they were actually in the air. As a result they'd only over the Lord and his slaves something to drink on the flight. The picnic baskets that Sonic was instructed to fetch would contain the food they'd eat once they got back on the ground. Scourge motioned for 'one' to the stewardess when she came past to check on them. That must have meant 'one beer'. After that was taken care of Scourge told Silver a little secret. " This ani't no pleasure trip. 'least now for me, anyway. " Of course there was an ulterior motive for this trip! The Lord wouldn't blow damn near his entire month's budget just for the sake of doing so! " You see - " How should he go about saying this? " - my birthday is next month an' so is our assessment. Incidentally it's also -his- birthday next month. " Referring to the blue hedgehog who's name he couldn't remember for the life of him. While uncovering more information about his 'brother' over the months he learned that they were twins. That slave was his older brother. " So we're doin' this as sort of a birthday present. " Silver: "Oh." So the vacation was a birthday present? Silver wasn't sure what he was doing here then. But wow, he couldn't imagine how stressed his master must be. His date of birth and the slave assessment all at pretty much the same point in time. No wonder he's been so on edge. "I see." He looked curiously at Sonic again, wondering if the hedgehog even remembered this. "What's going to happen then?" Scourge: Scourge figured that the slave would remember his own birthday unless he managed to hit him hard enough to make him forget. He imagined that Blue had many happy birthdays before his world came coming down around him. Jules and Bernie rarely if ever showed up for -his- birthdays. There was usually a party in the manor between all of the prestigious Lords and Ladies but his parents always managed to just send their 'best wishes' and a present. Scourge had no shortage of presents but he couldn't say the same for his parent's attention. The fact that his parents suggested this for -him- and not their more favored son nearly made his blood boil if not for the fact that there would be plenty of booze where he was going. A fair exchange. " Our folks are going to be out that way. " Yes; Jules and Bernie were actually going to be there in person this time. It was for Blue's birthday, sure, but they were actually going to be there for a celebration. " Said they were gonna throw him some big ... party-thing. I don't know. Guess they're going to sing songs, eat cake, and all that happy shit. " Scourge wanted no part of it to be honest. It made his stomach turn to think that his parents loved Blue more then him! As for why Silver was there he couldn't say that it was for his own personal comfort. His parents specifically asked for him to bring Silver, too. He figured that it was because he told them that Silver was Blue's friend so they wanted him to celebrate, too. Silver: Silver would have been shocked to know that the Lords requested him of all people. A lowly slave! Sure it was for their son but still...not something that happened every day. But he couldn't read minds so the white hedgehog didn't bother mentioning it. And to him...Master still seemed a little jealous. Whenever Scourge talked about his parents he would get like this. Bitter and resentful. At Sonic or at his parents? Maybe both? Whatever the case, it was wise never to ask about it. Wasn't his place to anyway. "So what...what are you going to do for your birthday, Master?" Apparently birthdays had some special signifigance to the Frees. Silver wasn't quite sure what it was since his birthday had never been celebrated before. What was there to celebrate? He didn't even know when his birthday was. Maybe his papers said but he certainly didn't know it off the top of his head. Scourge: Lord Scourge was more bitter at his parents then at his brother. They were the ones who separated them and lied to them. Scourge could have had a brother. He could have had someone in his family who cared about him. Now he had two slaves and one of them didn't even like him. What happened to Blue would have never happened if his parents were honest with them from the beginning. Why'd he have to hear something like that from a third party? It just wasn't fair ... The stewardess came back with a bottle of beer uncapped for the Lord. Sure it was early in the morning but he felt like he needed it. " My birthday? " Shoot, no one really asked him that question. He was usually told what he would do. That he would have that party. That he would meet with all types of people he didn't really care about. Scourge gave it a moment of thought by taking a swig of his beer. Was it just him or did it taste a little funny? It was probably nothing. " I'm gonna become King on my birthday. " And that would be one Hell of a Birthday Present to be King of a Kingdom. That would far outweigh the presents that Sonic would get here today so he felt somewhat satisfied in saying it. " An' hopefully I'll have two good slaves to stand at my side. " Oh, there was supposed to be a Queen also but he couldn't color himself thrilled. “ Don't you have a birthday, babe? “ Silver: Ah, he'd forgotten that this was the year Scourge would become king. Silver supposed that was one reason why birthdays were so important (to nobles anyway). He laughed softly at the remark about his slaves. Well he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon given that he could pass the assessment. Hopefully that wouldn't be an issue though. The white hedgehog looked a little confused though at his Master's question. "I...guess so." Everyone technically had a date of birth. "But I don't know when it is." Scourge: Well, that was a silly question to ask in retrospect. Everyone had a birthday! Slaves normally didn't celebrate their birthdays, though. In fact that didn't celebrate much of anything without their Master's expressed permission. In some countries where slaves were more highly trained Masters celebrated the day the slave was purchased. Those celebrations only went to the slaves that were actually good at their jobs, though. " I'm sure we can look it up. " He got a stack of papers mailed with him when he bought Silver. Scourge never actually looked through them but to confirm that he owned Silver. Since Silver was likely born in the business he figured a record of his birth would be in there somewhere. " Maybe when it comes around we can get you some ice cream or somethin'. " It was hard to truly please the white hedgehog, though. At times he was just so hard to read ... The plane was nearly at their destination. If Silver looked out the window he would see that they were over a sparkling blue sea with several tiny islands littered throughout. The islands looked to be both deserted and inhabited though not to the same degree that the Kingdom was. These islands were private islands and they were getting pretty close to the large one that they would be vacationing on. Silver: "Oh no...you don't have to do that, Master." Though Silver was flattered that Scourge even considered getting him something. The white hedgehog was hard to please because he'd rarely ever been pleased. Usually it was the opposite, as in Silver being the one doing the pleasing. Masters shouldn't waste their time trying to make their slaves happy when they had other things to worry about, Scourge especially. At least that's what Silver thought and that's how he'd lived his whole life. It was nothing against Scourge personally. Silver was like that with everyone. Taking off in the plane felt like nothing. Nothing compared to being in your Master's arms when he was going full speed anyway and that speed happened to be incredibly fast. It was still a little shaky. Once in the air, Silver loved the view. It reminded him of the view from that large restaurant that Master had taken him to a while back. The water was even more breathtaking. "That'swhere we're going?" He asked while pointing to the islands. Scourge: Scourge stared right at him when he started being modest about it. " I know I don't have to do nice things for you, Silver. " He said with a bit of fatigue in his voice. He felt a bit more tired now then he did when he first got on the plane but he figured it was because it was so early. " I don't have to take Blue on this fancy trip either but I'm gonna. It's not because I have to but because I want to. While it's true that you're both just slaves an' all you're supposed to do is serve me that doesn't mean that you gotta be treated like animals. " Green spoke of the matter casually. " You don't think I treat you like an animal, do you? " It was an sincere question. When Silver called his attention out the window he was hesitant to look. Just the thought of it made a shiver go down his spine. The Lord didn't speak of it much but he was deathly afraid of heights. He didn't thrash when it came to getting on a plane like he did as a child but he still had anxiety. Not looking out the window and a fairly smooth ride helped him soothe it somewhat. With a heavy yawn he looked out the window. Damn, didn't he get a full night's sleep last night? " It's that one over there. " He tapped the window briefly before looking away again, and to his drink. The Lord pointed to a large island with a few natural looking buildings on it that they appeared to be circling around. There was a lush jungle covering most of the island with a sprawling strip of sand circling the outer rim. The runaway looked to be made of sand and dirt from a distance but that was just for aesthetic purposes. It was perfectly safe. Silver: Silver was always one to avoid eye contact, always feeling shy about it, and wouldn't dare class himself worthy enough to stare Lords in the eye. Yet he couldn't pull his eyes away as Scourge stared. It was either fear or shock, the white hedgehog couldn't tell which. "I...no, of course not. I would never think that. You treat me mu-" And Silver had to cut himself off right there. He'd almost said 'much better than his other masters' but he had no right to say such horrible things! ...Even if it was true. "...very well. And I am very grateful." There, that was much better. Everything looked so tiny from way up here. Except for the ocean of course. Sonic probably wasn't liking the view very much if he didn't like water as much as Silver thought he didn't. "I see. It's beautiful." Scourge: The answer may have been different if he asked his other slave but he thought that he treated Silver fairly well. The white furred hedgehog made himself out to be someone who deserved to be treated well. He was quiet, calm, and obedient for the most part. A well mannered slave deserved to be treated with kindness. That's one reason why he could only smirk knowingly when Silver stammered over his words. The other reason was because ... he wasn't feeling too hot at the moment. A strange fatigue hit him all at once. He couldn't for the life of him figure out the cause! That same stewardess who served Scourge earlier was looking at the transaction from across the seating area. When Scourge began showing signs of weakness she stood up and approached the table once more. " Excuse me - " She spoke to Silver softly. " - could you come with me for a moment, please? " She thought that this one would be harder to convince then the other so she tried to get him up first. Maybe he'll come willingly since she was a Free and slaves were supposed to listen to them. At the same time another attendant approached Sonic from the crew's quarters and whispered something to him. " Come with us, please. We're going to get you out of here. " |

Silver: "Um..." Silver looked at the stewardess nervously before looking back at his Master. Something was a little off. He didn't seem to be paying attention to much...even the one who was asking him away. Usually Scourge would question someone who ordered his slave around right? Maybe he was too tired. "I...don't know if I'm allowed." He should probably wait for Master's permission before doing anything or going anywhere with this strange lady. Sonic: Sonic was completely detached from whatever had been going on. Completely oblivious to Scourge's state, he turned to the stewardess questioningly. He was pretty sure he had to do whatever anyone said that worked for Scourge. So the blue hedgehog thought little of the circumstances aside from what she might want. First instinct told him it was something he wouldn't enjoy. Neither of them moved!? That made the attendants frown because they believed the slaves might be too broken to save. They couldn't give up, though. If they didn't get these two off this plane they weren't going to get their bonus! - The one closer to Sonic spoke up first about what was going on. She only looked up long enough to make sure that Scourge really was losing his coherency. Then she leaned in and whispered to him. " We were sent by your parents to get you away from him. " Referring to Scourge. " The other one, too, but only if he complies. We won't force him to come with us. " Then the other flight attendant looked at Silver pleadingly. They were paid to make sure that Sonic got off this plane when they reached the drop off point. Silver? They'd been told they would be put in a position to help him but that it was ultimately Silver's decision if he wanted to risk it. " Please come with us, young man. We want to help you. " Silver: The white hedgehog was confused. "Help me...? I don't understand. What do I need help with?" It was a lost cause for them. Silver had been in slavery his whole life. He didn't understand the concept of "freedom." He never was free, never experienced it. Unlike Sonic, who probably would be jumping at the chance. Silver was a little worried now. His Master's eyes were glazed over and didn't seem to be hearing anything that was going on. "Master...?" He called, carefully shaking one of Green's shoulders. Sonic: It was just that little message that managed to put so much more life in those green eyes. Silver may know something was definitely up when Sonic was up on his feet without reluctance and not looking quite so lost. He finally retained some more confidence. This must've been that time his mom talked about him with before. Despite all the bad that's happened, he wasn't going to lose this opportunity. It didn't occur to him right away as to how they would handle Scourge until he witnessed the dazed hedgehog himself. He never felt so relieved to be in his presence. "Silver," Sonic called, soft but firm. He was a tad paranoid that Scourge would snap out of whatever drug-induced state he was in at any moment. Looking back at his saviors, he was determined to leave with them, but he wasn't about to leave the white hedgehog behind. He deserved to be treated better, like an equal and not a mere pet. "It's alright, please come with me." He had reached out to grab his wrist before Silver could shake Scourge. He tugged on his arm, hoping to get him up and moving. Scourge: Scourge really seemed out of it. That was because the sedative he'd been given was strong enough to put down an elephant. Bernie picked it out to ensure that he was out for a good four hours at least: long enough to get Sonic and Silver far away from him. When Silver looked at him his eyes fluttered closed and he slumped back in his seat. No, he wasn't dead. Just sleeping. Silver: "But...but!" When his Master suddenly collapsed Silver didn't know what to do. It was then his arm was pulled and he was forced to stand up. "Wait a second, where are you...we going?!" Obviously it wasn't just Sonic was that trying to flee. Now he was going with him. What was going on? Where were they taking the two slaves... And what about Master? He eyed the two stewardesses nervously, not liking where this was going. The two felt kind of sorry for the white furred slave for being so brainwashed. He was young though so there was still a chance that he would learn to enjoy his soon-to-be freedom. When Sonic pulled him up they came up behind them to escort them to the front of the plane and into another section where the crew sat. When they were there one of the attendants closed the divider between Scourge's section and theirs. It was made of steel so he wouldn't be able to get in easily. Uncle Chuck: There on the other side was the co-pilot. Sonic may recognize him: it was his uncle after all. " Sonny-boy. " He sighed in relief seeing both of them up here finally. Sir Charles was highly upset that this went on long as it did but it was going to end tonight. " Sorry to keep you waiting. We needed to make absolutely sure that we had an opening and opportunity to get you away from your brother. " He explained. - " We're going to be landing very shortly. " In fact they could begin to feel their decent right now. " When we land we'll escort you to a boat waiting on the other side of the island. That ship will take you to a slave sanctuary. " Sonic: Words couldn't express how happy he was to see Uncle Chuck. The blue hedgehog brightened at the sight, feeling a similar relief he felt when he first realized his mom and dad were around. Though the conditions of that were pretty surprising. Sonic came in from behind Uncle Chuck to hug him the best he could without interfering too much with his flying abilities. His tail was wagging, and for a second he almost forgot about Silver. "Oh, it's so great to see you again! I... I was beginning to think I wouldn't!" Ever again. But it seemed that his folks had finally pulled through. When he let him go, he turned to the other white hedgehog who must be feeling awfully alarmed by all of this. He went over to him and smiled, hoping to reassure him. "Don't you sweat it, Silver. These are the good guys. They're going to free us. We'll be equals, nothing less. As we should be." He knew that might be a little confusing for him considering all he's been brainwashed to believe but he was certain that Silver was going to finally *really* enjoy his life, and without fear of pissing someone off for not looking them in the eye, or calling them 'master.' Silver: Now he was with even more strangers. Silver began to back up before realizing the door was tightly shut behind them. Most likely to keep Scourge out just in case he did wake up. So that eliminated that option. Now what? Sonic was incredibly happy; happier than he'd ever seen the blue hedgehog. How odd. This must be one of the relatives Master was talking about. He still didn't feel any less confused when Sonic tried to explain things to him. "Free...?" Silver had never thought about it. He wondered what it was like at times, sure, but never thought about himself being a free person. It was so...alien to him. Blaze had told him what it was like when she was a free and it sounded wonderful...but Silver didn't think he could do it. Nothing made sense. "I...but..." The white hedgehog curled his arms around himself. He was...scared. Scared what would happen to him if he actually did become free. Did he want it? He honestly didn't know... Uncle Chuck: " Whoa! " Actually he had a pretty good grip on the controls so Sonic didn't throw him off too much when he suddenly came up from behind. Instead he chuckled and reached a hand back to ruffle his head a bit. Chuck hadn't seen Sonic in months so of course he was happy to see him! He only wished that he was there in Knothole the day of that incident. Charles actually cursed his luck that he was away on business that fateful day. He had enough authority to stop that! " I wouldn't dream of leaving you in such a disgusting situation, Sonic. I'm sorry it happened to you in the first place, my boy. " And he said that in all honesty. No one should have to go through what he did. " Well don't you worry. At the end of the day you'll never have to worry about anything like that again. It's not Knothole but I think you can call it a home. " It was miles away from the Kingdom on a private island where elsewhere in the ocean. The thick canopy on that island covered the actual buildings from an aerial view. " After all, all your friends are waiting. " Yes: over the past few months they tracked down every single citizen in Knothole and rescued them. Then he looked at the other hedgehog who appeared to be friend briefly. " You should console your friend for now. If he's not compliant our cover can be blown. " Sonic: He was going to get to see his friends? Sonic never felt so emotional. It was in the best way possible too. Oh, he looked forward to nothing more! He hoped all of them had managed to get out of that horrible life better than he had though. Regardless of what's happened to them, the important thing was that they all held in there, and managed to make it out alive. None had a longer story to tell than the poor white hedgehog looking so out of his element. Uncle Chuck didn't have to tell him twice. He was already at his side, trying to comfort him. "Oi, relax, okay? Nothing bad is going to happen now. You don't have to worry about being punished for anything. It's okay." Silver: Out of his element indeed. Silver didn't know what to think. He should be happy, right? He was going to be free for the first time in his life. Experience what normal people experience. So why...did he feel so scared? Charles didn't have to worry about Silver blowing their cover. The white hedgehog kept silent even with Sonic trying to comfort him. Trembling and avoiding any and all eye contact. He was terrified. His mind was trained to think that this just wasn't right. He didn't belong as a free, didn't deserve to be around someone like Sonic who knew and loved the lifestyle. He'd just...get in the way. Not being punished sounded nice but what if he deserved it? He deserved lots of punishment, right? It was too big of a change; too hard to comprehend for Silver. Uncle Chuck: The plane slowly came down on the runway. It was a near perfect landing with just a few bumps. Charles made sure that absolutely everything was all right. Looking out the window he saw a small group of mobians pushing a set of stairs towards the plane. The cockpit door would have to be opened so Sonic and Silver could get off safely. He did that now. " Sonny-boy you go take your friend and go meet your parents, all right? They're waiting for you with a few more runaways on the ship. " Chuck wasn't going to meet them. At least not yet. To ensure that this didn't go off without a hitch they had to make one more stop. - " We're going to take Scourge back to the estate just to make sure you all get away. He's going to be hotter then a tea kettle when he wakes up but he won't be able to get to you two. " He assured them just as the stairs were connected to the doorway. " Now go on. Hurry! " Sonic: Sonic was eager to get off the plane and distance himself from that maniac that was somehow blood related to him. He stuck by Silver's side all the while, trying to help calm him down. He could understand where the guy was coming from seeing as how he too had his world turned upside down. Just as he was broken, he was sure that in time, Silver could be brought back up again. At least, it was far better than living in the conditions he was and being treated second rate. No more of that. He was the closest thing he had to a friend there and he wasn't going to let anything happen to him. However... he did have concerns for Uncle Chuck. He frowned when he told them to go on ahead. "But... what about you?" He felt like he didn't get to spend hardly any time with him and... Scourge was beyond cruel. Who knows what he'd do to whoever he caught behind this little scheme. Even if Chuck was his uncle too, he couldn't be sure he wouldn't try to hurt him or something. However, he didn't want to jeopardize what they had worked for. He'd leave, keeping his arm locked around Silver's to make sure he kept up and didn't freeze up. But he still looked back hesitantly before he was forced off the plane. Uncle Chuck: Charles smiled at his nephew when he asked what woulds happen to him. " You don't need to worry about me, Sonny-boy. I've been doing this kind of stuff for years. " If all went well no one who was involved with this operation would be around when he woke up ... except maybe Benjamin. The badger wanted the slaves gone so badly that he cleared Scourge's schedule to make this happen. " You just take care of yourself and your friend. I'll come and visit you when you're settled. " At the bottom of the stairs Sonic and Silver would be greeted by a small group of mobians would escorted them to an open air vehicle that was going to transport them to an innocent looking Shrimp Ship. This was the ship that Sonic's parents used to transport certain people, slaves included, out of the Kingdom. It was slow and tiny but hardly bothered by law enforcement. In a bind everyone aboard could pretend they're sailors. As they approached Sonic may be able to make out two familiar figures waiting for them by the catwalk: his mother and father. They looked rather anxious until they spotted the vehicle. Then Jules checked his radio and Bernie waved them over, quickly. They had to get moving! Silver: Looks like the ride was over. Somehow this plan had worked. As much as he tried, Silver's legs refused to work to get himself off the plane. Their roles would be reversed with Sonic helping Silver walk this time. He hadn't heard a word Uncle Chuck had said and honestly didn't hear much of what came from Sonic either. But once they got outside he snapped out of it. Surrounded by unfamiliar surroundings, Silver anxiously looked around. Wait, hadn't they been in a plane just a second ago? And Sonic's parents only scared him even more. Nobles! Even more higher up than his Master! This wasn't happening...That same paranoia Sonic had came for Silver, expecting the Nobles to do something horrible. It didn't even register that those could possibly be Sonic's parents. "No! I don't want to do this, let me go! Take me back, please!" Tugging at Sonic's grip. He couldn't do this! Sonic: Despite Charles' reassurances, Sonic knew by now that anything could happen. He wouldn't feel totally okay with this until he's heard from him again. But in the meantime, he had some pretty good distractions. As he led Silver off the plane, he quickly picked up the pace. His heart was racing with excitement and thus forcing him to breathe harder. Made him a little light headed but he pushed through until he could be in his folks' arms again. Only he was stopped before he could reach them. He didn't realize just how upset Silver was until he had a near panic attack. He whirled around, surprised, and frowned, "Silver, it's my mom and dad. They aren't going to hurt you. They're going to take us to a safe place where you'll never have to worry about any of that crap those jerks fed you before. You're just as good as my brother and anyone else. And you deserve to be treated right! Please..." He looked him in the eye, desperate to get his message across, "trust me, as I've learned to trust you." Though they were relieved to see Sonic his friend made them worried. He started panicking almost immediately and that made Jules look at Bernie with worry. They couldn't very well take him onto the barge like that. The white hedgehog may very well blow their cover and get them all in trouble! Bernie: Bernie was the one who stepped forward to address Silver. " Honey, we're not going to force you to do anything you don't want to. " That was the truth of it. If Silver really didn't want to go with them then they weren't going to force him. Charles had been told to stay where he was until they departed because of that. If Silver changed his mind then they could give him the sedative and put him back on the plane. " - but we -really- want you to consider coming with us. We only want to make sure that every mobian gets the opportunity to be safe and happy. " Truly happy! Silver: "No...I'm not...I don't..." Silver had nearly lost it, hitting the ground and curling up into an instinctive ball. He wasn't as important as his master. And he didn't deserve to be treated like an equal. He wasn't an equal so how could he be treated like one? Bernie didn't help things. She nearly made Silver run away in complete terror if it wasn't for Sonic's words. Sonic...trusted him? Since when? And did Silver trust him back? The answer was...yeah, Silver did find himself trusting the blue hedgehog. Sonic just seemed to have that air around him. Anyone could get along with him as long as Sonic himself wanted to get along with you. But again...what if he'd just be a burden? Especially when he was like this. "I...I don't know anymore..." he sniffed. "B-but..." - And he was probably going to regret saying this - "If you think I'm worthy enough to come..." Then he couldn't exactly ignore a direct order from a Noble then, now could he? Sonic: Sonic looked a tad anxious. He didn't want to give Silver a choice only because he was certain he wouldn't know what was best for himself. He's grown up living this lifestyle. He was sure that if given the chance, Silver would thank him for what he wanted him to do now. But the obstacle was getting him to that point. If he refused, he knew they weren't going to let him drag him on board because there really was a good chance he could get them all in trouble. Fortunately, it seemed that Silver shared the same bond he thought they had together. He knew it wasn't just some act because it was his duty as head slave. Sure, at first, he sort of thought so. But now he knew that there was more to him. True potential that he wasn't going to let go to waste if he could help it. As the other finally complied, he smiled in sheer relief. "You've always been worthy." He took him by the hand, squeezing lightly, reassuringly, before turning back to his mom with a smile. "We're ready." Bernie was extremely concerned when the younger hedgehog actually collapsed. It was the first time they freed a slave that was born into the trade so she wasn't sure what impact it would have psychologically. Everyone had the ability to learn, to adapt, but it took so long that she couldn't be sure that Silver would ever feel right as rain. Well, it was for the rehabilitation at the sanctuary to figure out now. She turned and nodded at Jules who in turn told Charles to take off. No going back now. That personal airplane was barreling down the runaway to deliver Scourge back to the estate. In the meantime she offered a hand to her son and Silver. " Then come on. We have a long journey ahead of us. " That was the downside of using a camouflaged ship like this. It would take them another four hours to actually make it to their destination. Silver: Sonic's soothing grip actually did more than intended. Silver felt his face heat up slightly as he said those words. Words that meant to much to him. They had never been said to him once before...and here they were, from a blue hedgehog who he thought hated him...Guess there was a first time for everything. Silver carefully took Bernie's hand too. And for the first time since this crazy ride had started, he felt safe. Sure he was still terrified with how his life was going to be like now...if this even worked. Apparently they still had a long way to go. Once he was on his feet, Silver immediately clung to Sonic. And didn't want to let go. He ignored the pink tint on his cheeks. Sonic: Sonic smiled when Silver held onto him. He was glad he was going to go along with this. It just helped prove the fact that he did want something different deep down. That no matter how hard you tried to beat a person down, they always maintained a part of them inside. Sonic knew there was even more to Silver than he's seen so far. He couldn't wait to bring him out of his shell and into a life that he deserved. Sonic nodded to his mother, deciding to stay close to Silver for as long as he felt comfortable as they waited out the voyage. It was a shame he'd never be able to see his actual home again but his real home was wherever his loved ones were. He could cope. Sonic would be surprised. The island that they went to was so remote that the ship couldn't even pull up to it all the way. They moved in close as they could before instructing the passengers which included Sonic, his parents, Silver, and a few other slaves who were waiting for another chance at life to head down the gangplank. There was only a two or three inches of water down there that they had to walk through. Once they did it was just a short trek across the beach before they reached a camp in a valley where several dozen little huts were. All of the huts were made of wood for camouflage purposes but they did their job well. Jules, who had been heading the group, slowed to a stop before turning to look at them all. " Here we are: Mondoon. This village is home to approximately three hundred and fifty runaway slaves including the people of Knothole Village. It's just one of many slave sanctuaries we have in the world. Here you will be fed, clothed, and given the medical attention you need to get back on your feet. " Now he looked at his son in particular. " Most former slaves never leave their village in fear of being recaptured but if you -want- to you can soon as you're healthy enough. In the meantime you can head down to your hut. I figure that you and Silver should live together at least until you're settled. " |

Throughout the trip Silver has stayed completely silent. His hold on Sonic didn't let up on the slightest and he hoped the blue hedgehog wouldn't mind. Whatever yes or no questions Silver may have been asked on the trip were answered with a nod or shake of the head. Otherwise Silver was lost in his own thoughts. What was freedom like, really like? Would the inhibitors come off? Would he actually be able to use his powers freely for the first time? The thought actually excited him. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. He did wonder what places like this did about brandings. Tattoo something over them? It would be hard to do that to Silver, what with the little extra Scourge had put into his branding. He could still feel the bits of jewel back there. |

Sonic: Sonic was eager to reunite with his friends. He was fortunate that they all were able to make it out alive. He knew how lucky they were seeing as how he almost didn't make it himself. Some didn't get it nearly as bad either. Some had just been branded and been waiting in the market to be bought - only to be claimed by Sonic's parents. Others weren't so lucky. But so long as they were alive and well now, that's all that mattered, right? There was a therapist on the island that would actually help console any of the former slaves that needed it. Sonic considered talking to him but was too ashamed to actually say what happened. He'd rather try to act like everything was fine. Of course, through the entire greeting process, Sonic readily introduced Silver to everyone and stuck by him the entire time. His parents even gave them a room together. The huts weren't nearly as fancy as what they were living in before but Sonic found it so much more inviting. For once, he was able to sleep peaceful that night. The next morning Sonic woke up fairly early. He was used to waking up early or bein' hit awake for sleeping in. In the end, his body had adjusted to the time schedule but he felt so much more well rested. When he got up and didn't see an angry green hedgehog looming over him, he immediately relaxed and was tempted to go back to sleep. Silver: It had been quite the surprise to see Sonic so excited. So this is what the blue hedgehog was really like. Even Silver couldn't hold back the smile when he saw Sonic's reunion with his friends, particularly that young fox with two tails. Once Sonic actually turned his attention back to him did the smile fade and the shyness came back. Silver tried to be as polite as he could while being introduced but it just felt so awkward for him. He'd never been around people who acted so casual before. It just didn't feel right. Most of the time the white hedgehog was hiding behind Sonic. He was happy that Sonic had finally gotten some decent sleep but Silver couldn't sleep at all. He was already a light sleeper, came with the years, but even now he was too stunned to sleep. Looking out the window when he heard Sonic stir, Silver decided not to say anything just in case Sonic did indeed go back to sleep. Sonic: Sonic turned his head, glancing absentmindedly towards Silver. He hadn't sat up or anything yet. Just opened his eyes and was torn between keeping them closed. Seeing Silver sitting up and looking out the window made him decide that he got enough sleep already. "Feel good yet?" He knew he had to adjust still but he hoped he'd be able to soon. The faster he did, the faster he could start enjoying himself. Sonic sat up now, stifling a yawn. "Just think... No more bein' a lap dog. Don't EVER have to say "Master" again. And never, ever, EVER have to worry about bein' hit over something stupid." He sighed in near bliss. "You're tough, I'll give you that. For livin' that long like that." Sonic shuddered. To think he could have lived out the rest of his life bein' so run down.. It just depressing thinking about it! Even now, it's going to be hard living with those mental scars. But if Silver could do it, he knew he could too. Silver: "Y-yes..." Unfortunetly, that was all Silver knew. Calling someone Master, following orders, being a "lap dog" as Sonic put it...it was all second nature. Getting used to this would certainly take some time. "Being born...into that life, I'm kind of used to it." He looked at Sonic curiously. "I think some of your friends are already up." A good reason to get him out of bed if nothing else. Judging by how excited Sonic was yesterday, it wasn't unreasonable to think that he'd want to spend the whole day with them. Silver could undestand that. He'd probably do the same if he were in the same prediciment. Maybe he could go exploring. Sonic: "Well no more of that." Sonic huffed. He was disgusted that he felt he had to get used to it. "I want you to understand how screwed up that society is. A stupid stamp on somebody doesn't make them less than you. That's just dumb! Think about it, Silvs." He stood up, stretching his legs. Man, what he'd do for a good run. "Hm?" Oh, yes, his friends. He'd be seeing them today too. Hopefully Silver would take a liking to somebody as well. The more people he got along with, the better he'd fit in. He smiled over at him. "You wanna come with me, right?" Silver: Silver begged to differ but he didn't want to argue. That was the last thing he wanted. Absentmindedly looking over his shoulder to his special brand, what caught his attention most was the sudden nickname. He blinked in confusion. Sonic had a funny way of addressing people. "Er..." The white hedgehog immediately looked away from Sonic's gaze at the request. "I don't know if I should. I'm...not good with other people." As was made obvious by his performance yesterday. And if what Sonic said was true, then he was as fast as Master...no, Scourge, not Master. Oh, that's right. During the boat ride, both hedgehog's inhibitors had come off, as well as their collars. Silver couldn't believe how strange it felt to have that collar off. And with the inhibitors off, now they could both use their talents freely. What was it like, he wondered? "I'd rather just take a walk if you don't mind..." Not that he'd be able to keep up with Sonic anyway. Sonic: "Then I'll walk with you." Sonic would have actually rather ran. However, unlike Silver, the blue hedgehog was still restricted. Maybe not by inhibitors, but he might as well have been. The respiratory problems he suffered when he was beaten by Scourge was everlasting. He tried not to think about it and hadn't exactly tested the theory yet. But he already got an idea by one of the doctors that looked at him. "If you're not good with people, it'll help that I'm around to show you the ropes." He nodded as a matter of fact. He was very reluctant to leave Silver alone. Later, after he's gotten used to this place and the people, then he wouldn't hover around him as much. Silver: Luckily Silver didn't mind the hovering at all. In fact, he preferred it. He felt so out of place and Sonic was the only thing he recognized. It was only natural to stick by the ones you feel comfortable around. His only concern was that Sonic would grow tired of it sooner or later. Hopefully that wouldn't happen but it couldn't be helped if it did. "Are...you sure?" Silver wasn't aware of Sonic's condition. It had been months yet the blue hedgehog still hadn't fully healed. Perhaps he never would. Yet Silver was overjoyed when Sonic volunteered to walk with him, even if he didn't show it. He didn't even notice that his cheeks had turned pink again. He was looking out for Silver just like how the white hedgehog had tried when Sonic was still bedridden. "R-right. I'm glad you're here then," he mumbled without thinking. Sonic: "Ya know, for a guy who has powers like you, I wouldn't feel so shy." He smirked. Of course he knew the real reasons why, he was just teasing. "But of course I'm sure. I'd like to see more of what you can do." Now that nothing limited Silver, he could go crazy. Sonic put on some new socks (aside from their beds, a dresser was in the room with new clothes for them to wear). He also grabbed a pair of white gloves and paused when he spotted a new pair of shoes on the floor by his old ones. His eyes brightened. Uncle Chuck had made him some new shoes. He quickly put them on and then waited by the door for Silver. "I'm glad you're here too." He smiled, opening the door for him to walk out first. Silver: "Well I've never used them all that much..." He said while watching Sonic get ready. He was a little surprised that Sonic actually remembered what he could do but then realized it was probably because what he used them for...Not something he cared to remember and he was pretty sure Sonic felt the same. That didn't stop his ears falling in shame. He'd inevitibly caused Sonic so much pain because of that. Funny, then why was the blue hedgehog still so nice to him. Without even realizing it, Sonic was suddenly by the door and waiting for him. He'd really been out there for a second. But he put on his boots and quickly followed Sonic outside, shading his eyes from the sunlight. With not as many people surrounding them, Silver could get more detail on where exactly Sonic's parents had taken them. "Wow..." And he was free to live in this kind of place? Silver's heart fluttered at the mere thought. Sonic: Sonic shut the door back after him as he stepped out. He inhaled deep, taking in the marvelous day. So long had he been cooped up in that house. Granted, it was a palace, but he was an outdoorsy kind of guy. "Come on, let's check this place out." He had never been there before, obviously. It was time the two of them did some exploring! Along their way through the village, they'd come across one of Sonic's best friends. He was introduced to Silver yesterday by the name of "Tails." Tails: "Hey guys." The young fox chirped, thankfully one of the slaves that had just been bought from a market. He was hard to sell since he had a deformity and didn't have to experience as much as the others had to go through. "What are you guys up to?" Silver:Well this was awkward. Silver froze when he heard the unfamiliar voice, immediately shying away from the fox kit. Of all people, why be scared of Tails? He was just a kid! But it was that insecurity of not having an owner around to protect you. That was why Silver was so afraid. Nobody could help him. But he could help himself now! With his powers back with him... "H-hello..." Well...it was a start. He remained silent as the two friends conversed. They hadn't seen each other in so long, no need to interrupt them...at least that was what Silver wanted to believe. Sonic: Sonic grinned a little, amused and saddened by Silver's demeanor. A strange mixture. It's just that it was only depressing because he could only dream about the things he's experienced to cause it. But Sonic was going to work on that. "I don't know. I'm following this guy." He jutted a thumb at Silver, looking clueless. Then he glanced over at the other hedgehog, appearing innocent. "What are we up to Silvs?" Gettin' him to communicate and talk around others he was sure would help open him up more. Silver: It took him a second that realize that Sonic had asked him a question. "Huh?" Since when did their conversation shift over to him? Caught off guard, his words became jumbled. "Um, uh..." Oh come on, get ahold of yourself! He shook his head, trying to get his throughts straight. "J-just...taking a w-walk. N-nothing too interesting..." No surprise. He didn't consider himself a very interesting person anyways. Silver hoped Sonic and Tails had managed to get something out of that mangled, train-wreck of a sentence. It wasn't his fault his voice wouldn't cooperate with him! The stuttering was a major problem that he'd have to get rid of sooner or later. Tails: "Oh, sounds like fun!" The fox paid no mind to Silver's shyness. He was already filled in on the stranger at some point last night. He would have asked to go with them but didn't want to make him anymore uncomfortable. Maybe he'd hang out with them more when they got back. "This place is pretty nice." While it was nothing like home, so long as he was with those he loved, Tails was peachy keen with their little move. Sonic: "We'll be the judge of that." Sonic winked over at Silver, hoping to get him to lighten up. He pushed him playfully forward to get him walking again. "We'll see ya later Tails. Lead the way, Silver!" Silver: Silver was stunned. "M-me?" He asked, pointing to himself. "Er, uh...right." He smiled softly at Tails before looking around. Which way was the best to go? It didn't really matter since all of it was unexplored to them. Only chosing straight ahead, the path they were going in the first place. "Let's go this way then..." Who cared about a destination at this point? All they wanted to do was explore. Silver couldn't remember a time where he wanted to use his psychokinesis so much. Though he resisted. "Whoa..." When was the last time he got to do this? A long time ago, that was for sure. Green as far as the eye could see, how wonderful. Edited by Sonic the Hedgehog, May 27 2010, 01:05 PM.

Sonic: There was plenty to eat here too. Aside from what was transported by boat, there was plenty of natural food that anyone could eat from the trees or bushes, or even the fish from the stream! Sonic hadn't been fishing in a while. He was tempted to go when he caught sight of a crystaline stream running down one side of the field they were beginning to walk into. What distracted him was the biggest and reddest apple on a tree. He could easily jump up and get it but he got a better idea. "Hey look!" He pointed at the apple. "You mind getting that down for me?" He smiled. He wanted him to use his powers more casually and get used to the idea. Something so cool shouldn't be restricted but he bet he never thought about using them after he has been suppressed from it for so long. ...Aside from when he was ordered to capture certain runaway slaves. True, Sonic often got bitter about the idea of being caught, but he couldn't be at the white hedgehog who was as broken and submissive as can be. He'd jump off a bridge if someone told him, probably. Silver: Sonic was correct in his assumptions. If Master Scourge or any of his past masters had ordered him to do something like jump off a bridge, Silver would have. No questions asked. It was sad, really. "Um..." Odd. He was pretty sure that the blue hedgehog could get the apple himself, he'd seen how athletic Sonic was, so why ask him? "S-sure." Yet he couldn't say no to that smile. There was something about Sonic's smile that was just so alluring. It was cocky, even bordering on arrogant, but it held a kindness Silver had never seen before. Silver was certain that his powers were going to be rusty. Besides the time he'd used them on Sonic, he hadn't used his psychokinesis seriously in a number of years. He wasn't sure of a specific number since he couldn't count very well, but it felt like forever. Silver held his hand up towards the apple and winced. Nothing yet. It took some time before a light blue glow enveloped his hand and moved towards the fruit. Plucking it off the branch and making it go to Sonic. Sonic: Sonic's tail twitched in a little wag. He reached out to take the apple, eyes beaming with interest. "It's so cool how you can do that." He brushed the apple off and sunk his teeth into it. Mmm! "How you do that anyway?" He spoke around his mouthful as he chomped it down, taking a step forward to get Silver walking again. Still, he let the white hedgehog lead. He was pretty sure he's asked before... Then again, maybe not. While the two spent a lot of time together as slaves, Sonic rarely felt like opening up when he was constantly being beaten down. Silver: Silver actually blushed slightly. Any praise he'd gladly take but when it came from someone who wasn't his owner...well, for some reason it just seemed to mean so much more. "Y-you think so?" And next to never were his powers praised. Most of the time it was looked down upon. Slave owners saw it as a large weapon to use against Masters, which is why Silver was taught to be a slave at such a young age. It was so he would never have a free will of his powers and knew to never use them. Now though...that didn't matter. He looked down, quite embarrassed by Sonic's praise and began walking again at the prompt. "I don't know," he replied to the question on how his powers worked. "I just...do it. I think of something that I want to move and it does." He was pretty sure it was a lot more complicated than that but Silver couldn't think of the right words to describe it. And there was still so much more to discover about his powers. Sonic: "Mm'mm." Sonic even nodded his head when asked if he really thought so. Heck yeah his powers were cool. He wished he had 'em. If he did, maybe he could have helped stop the invasion of his village in the first place. He continued to munch on the apple as they walked out towards a flower bed that stretched over most of the field. It was nice. Sonic liked flowers and enjoyed even more running through them. The smells were always so pleasant. Sonic glanced over at Silver, tossing the apple aside and deciding he might as well try. "Let's race, huh? It'll be fun." He wasn't sure how fast Silver could run but he'd go easy on him. "All the way to that big ole tree over there!" He pointed at a huge weeping willow. Silver: "Race..?" Uh-oh, he had a feeling this wouldn't turn out well. If Sonic was any as fast as his brother then Silver knew he wouldn't have a chance. But...why not? Obviously Sonic really wanted to and had probably wanted to do this for a very long time. "A-alright, if you say so..." And he added under his breath, "You'll probably beat me easily..." Followed by a slight chuckle. Perhaps Sonic even heard it. Sonic: "Pft, maybe." Sonic grinned, looking over at him with a challenging spark in those eyes. He got into a runner's stance, his eyes on the prize. The tree was pretty far away. Just enough for him to really build up some speed. But depending on how slow Silver was, he decided he wouldn't go all out. The real goal was just so he'd have some fun. And... though, Sonic was personally testing himself. "On a count of three. One... two..." He paused for dramatic effect, ear twitching. "Three!" And off he went, kicking up grass behind him! Silver: Mimicking Sonic's stance, he tensed as the other began to count off. Silver's thoughts began to go to the training that Scourge had set for him for the end of the month. It was something like this. Building endurance and muscles, and Silver certainly needed it with how skinny he was when he was first purchased. And there was the send off. Though not as talented as Sonic, Silver basically shot off the same way from the runner's position. For a moment they were beside each other but that changed quickly as Sonic began to take the lead. Sonic: Sonic told himself to go easy on Silver. Over and over. But the second they took off, that freedom and rush that came with running was irresistable. He hadn't been able to stretch his legs like this since his village was invaded a long time ago. In a matter of a second, a sonic boom was unleashed. The sound was very distinct. He'd be able to hear it before he could see Sonic disappear. The blue hedgehog was gone! He had ran even passed the tree, circling around through the woods around the island to come running back from behind Silver and passing him again! ...Was he showing off? Maybe. Sonic stopped by the tree, leaning his back against it and panting heavily. He'd be waiting on Silver. Sure, he felt guilty for running as fast as he did, but while he had speed, Silver still had something over him. That cool telekinesis. And even with his speed, Sonic wasn't sure how long he could have managed it. Not a second longer than he did when running as fast as he was. The blue hedgehog was breathing way harder than he should have when running such a short amount of time despite how fast he was going. He was light headed and wasn't using the trunk of the tree to lean back on just to appear cool. He needed it for support. Silver: He always knew he stood no chance. Running was never his strong point anyway. But as soon as he heard the loud crack that indicated the sonic boom, Silver had to screech to a halt and shield his eyes from the gust of wind it caused. Unbelievable! Sonic was gone in an instant, came back in that same instant from behind, and then disappeared again! How...how was that possible? Even when he was in his master's arms, Scourge hadn't run that fast...had he? Another second passed, maybe two, before he saw Sonic leaning against the tree they were racing to. Well jeez, no wonder he was called Sonic. Just like before when he first leanred Sonic's name, Silver laughed. He continued to laugh as he walked, not ran since he saw no point anymore, towards him. The name was perfect before but now...it was so perfect that he had to laugh. "That was amazing..." The white hedgehog said in awe as he came up. Sonic: Sonic smiled as he came near him, glad he could be of some amusement. "Now that's a laugh." He uttered breathily, proud of himself that he could get Silver to really open up again. The sound was rare; he'll have to make it a habit now to do it more often! Sonic slid his back against the trunk to sit. It was best he took a moment to really catch his breath or else he might be staggering around a bit too much for his liking. It was embarrassing really. If only Silver could have seen him before! Then he would have really been impressed. "Almost as amazing as your power, huh?" He smirked a little. Silver: He'd forgotten how good laughing felt. He felt exhausted but in a good way. Like there was really something to be happy about. He gave Sonic a warm and thankful smile. Thankful he got to experience that because of him and to see something as amazing as a sonic boom. Not everyone could say that! "It must feel so nice though, running that fast. What's it like?" Silver was sincerly curious. Running at the speed of sound, he could never imagine such a thing. He'd been taught that sound was slower than light but that didn't say much now. Now that he knew how fast sound could actually go. "Is it scary?" Silver sat down next to Sonic, waiting for him to catch his breath. Sonic: "Hard to describe, really." Sonic glanced away thoughtfully. "It's really fun though." He grinned, appearing just a bit smug. It was nice to have him so interested in something he could do. Kind of reminded him of Tails a little bit. After being so unimpressive towards Scourge, it was good to be in the company of people who actually cared about something other than themself. "It gives you one heck of an adrenaline rush though. I could run all day." Could being the keyword. If it was at all possible now. "But I could ask you the same. Guess we both have something pretty special about us, huh?" He smiled, elbowing him in the side playfully. Silver: Silver didn't both to ask whan an adrenaline rush was, he knew it probably wouldn't make any sense to him anyways. "It sounds fun." Zoning out as he thought about it only to be brought back by Sonic's nudge. He chuckled slightly. "I-I guess so." Huh, he didn't think he'd ever laughed this much before in his life. It was a nice change for both Sonic and himself. "I don't know much about my powers though...I think once Master Finitevus told me a few things about them. Like how I can only move certain things and maybe even float..." It was a slip of the tongue. He was so used to calling people master that he didn't think twice when it was said. Sonic: Sonic arched a brow. "That's quite a feat." He reached out, grabbing one of his ears and smirking mischievously. He tugged on it, "You don't need to bother with the whole Master bit now, alright? You're your own Master, how's that?" He let go, showing off his pearly whites. "I want to see you float." Sonic moved to stand, careful balancing himself on his feet. Yeah, he was alright now. Good enough. He looked down at Silver and offered him a hand to stand up too. Silver: A squeak, or maybe it was more like a yelp, came from Silver when Sonic grabbed his ear. What was it with other hedgehogs grabbing his ears? Probably because they knew how sensative they were. He leaned over into the grasp and didn't resist like he would with anyone more valuable than him and eyed Sonic looking very hurt. That was just uncalled for..right? "I...I'm sorry," he mumbled, now not making eyecontact. His ear was soon released and Silver wasn't sure what to do when the hand was offered to him. Grab it? He hoped so because that's what he hesitantly did and was pulled up. Rubbing his ear. "But...I don't know how." Sonic: The blue hedgehog was sure that it was the best approach to get Silver used to his nature so he wouldn't be so timid. At first, he fully expected for him to be. He hoped, however, to get him playing back. "It's fine." He snorted, helping him up. "Well... maybe it's like making other things float. Just think about doing it yourself instead of something else!" He wasn't sure if that made any sense at all but it was worth a shot. Silver: Sonic obviously understood his not-so-great explanation of his powers that was said before. It...made sense, sort of. Instead of thinking about other objects to float...just think of himself. "Maybe..." He pondered this. It couldn't be that simple. But what was the harm in trying? He never had. Okay, here goes nothing. Concentration was key here, as with any psychic powers. Silver closed his eyes and completely relaxed. Easier said than done. This time, the blue glow from before covered his whole body rather than just one hand. And before Silver knew it, he could feel his feet touching anything. "Eh?" He opened his eyes and looked around. He was floating! That little lapse in concentration wouldn't help though as he dropped straight back down. It wasn't very far so he landed on his feet. "I...had no idea." Sonic: Apparently it seemed he was onto something. Sonic stepped back and gave Silver plenty of room. He watched, unsure of what to expect at first. Then as the light started to engulf Silver's body, he watched as his feet started to lift from the ground. Nah, it couldn't have been that easy, right? Well it seemed there had to be some serious concentration going on. Silver lost it rather easily when he realized it worked to begin with. Sonic smiled, looking cocky at having figured out something he had no idea about. "Geez. Ya know, if you practiced, you'd be one unstoppable guy." The dude was able to move things with his mind and fly! Those slave traders were just fortunate they got their hands on him when he was young. He would have been quite a formidable foe if he wasn't so meek. Hopefully Sonic could help him work on that. Silver: It took Silver a few moments to snap out of his shock. So he could fly? Finitevus hadn't been messing with his mind when he told him that. There was a first for everything, but even this was just beyond belief for him. Looking up at Sonic and blushing in embarrassment at his remark. "Aha...I doubt that." He couldn't help but smile though at the praise, scratching his cheek nervously and looking away. "But wow...I had no idea I could do that." Even if it was just for a few seconds, Silver wanted to have that feeling again. "Thank you," he mumbled to the blue hedgehog. Sonic: Sonic waved his hand at him. "No sweat." He was enjoying himself with Silver. It was fun to see his potential and not hindered by somebody else. He knew the guy wasn't really content with that life no matter how 'used' to it he said he was before. Seeing him out like this was the real Silver, smiling and happy. There was no tension and Sonic himself finally felt truly relaxed. Now his body would have a real chance to heal. Lately he hadn't been getting into real trouble with Scourge but the guy seemed to have made it an effort to hit him daily, whether it was shoving him into things or doing it himself. A sudden rumbling growl in his belly seemed to have disrupted their little moment. That apple wasn't enough to subdue his raging hunger. He smiled sheepishly at the white hedgehog. "What say we head back and get some breakfast now, eh?" Silver: "O-of course." It wasn't like Sonic had to ask permission to back to his own hut. Sonic's hut, not his. Silver was just staying in it. Even a simple thing as owning something was foreign to the white hedgehog. Never really owning anything, not even his own name and body. He sheepishly looked towards the sparkling river before turning back. "I'll follow behind." Sonic wanted to run, right? Let him run, Silver would find his way back sooner or later...hopefully. Plus it was just so interesting to get the brief glimpse of Sonic before he took off. That blue streak was pretty cool too. Plus he wasn't all that hungry. Not as hungry as Sonic anyway. Sonic: Sonic blinked, a little surprised, but was glad that Silver was at least capable of speaking up for something he wanted. The blue hedgehog wouldn't deny him the opportunity to do his own investigation. The island wasn't that big and there was no one around that would capture or harm him. He had little to worry about so he trusted Silver would be okay on his own. "Alright. See ya in a bit!" Sonic waved, deciding he would run back, but this time he wasn't going to run nearly as fast as before. Just faster than the average mobian as he once again challenged his own stamina. Silver: Not exactly speaking up but it was a step in the right direction in Sonic's quest to "un-brainwash" Silver. He watched the blue hedgehog run off at a relatively fast pace before sitting back down against the tree. He was alone. He had time to think. And with all that time, there was so much to think about now. This freedom. Silver didn't think he'd ever get used to it. Drawing his legs up to his chest, Silver burried his face in his knees. Already he'd forgotten that he told Sonic he'd follow along behind him. Did he miss his life as a slave? In a sense, yes. It had barely been a day so not much could be said about his new life, but things were so much less complicated as a slave. He knew what to do and was always told what to do in an instance where he was clueless. He was living for someone else. Now, he was living for himself. Was that okay? Was he allowed to do that? Lost in his thoughts, Silver didn't even notice the time go by. He didn't even notice he'd fallen in a dreamless sleep curled up as he was. Or the rain clouds on the horizion. Sonic: It was suddenly becoming a lot darker. The wind was blowing harder and drops of rain was already beginning to fall. The thick rain clouds had already made its way over the island, covering the sky. A flash of lightning and only seconds later came the roaring thunder, loud enough to wake anyone. Sonic had already finished his breakfast by this time. People were turning in. Silver had it all wrong before; it wasn't just Sonic's hut, it was Silver's too. The blue hedgehog immediately wondered where he was. He just assumed he decided to stay out longer so he saved him some food. However, when it started to rain, he got a little concerned. Where was he? Silver: It was only when a drop of rain managed to plop right onto Silver's head did the white hedgehog start to stir. Slowly opening his eyes and rubbing them, he looked around. "Mmph...Did I fall asleep...?" He asked no one in particular. Well it was obviously later in the day since it was darker out. Now what was it that had woken him up. Tapping his head and seeing the tip of his glove had gotten a bit wet because of it. Oh, it was starting to rain. Guess that was a sign to head back. But the sudden flash of lightning and the ear-splitting crack of thunder had golden eyes widen and Silver curled back up immediately, followed by his scream. "AAAH!" Oh no, not lightning, anything but that! Sonic had his fear of water and Silver had his: bolts of lightning and the sound it made. Electricity was Finitevus' favorite punishment method. Because of this, Silver developed a striking phobia of lightning (pardon the pun). His eyes were closed but the cracks of thunder could easily be heard. Trembling in his ball, he was too scared to even move. Sonic: The weather didn't seem to be willing to let up on him at all. The rain was coming down harder and the wind was chilling. As warm as it was earlier, it seemed the island wasn't as perfect as imagined. Nothing can be done for the weather but it wouldn't be half as bad if Silver had just followed after Sonic in the first place. Fortunately for the white hedgehog, someone came looking for him. The scream gave his location away fairly easily. When Sonic approached, he was drenching wet. An ear was drooped over from the weight of the rain pounding down on him as he kneeled next to the cowering hedgehog, frowning with concern in his eyes. "Silver...?" He spoke up loud so he could hear, shaking him a little. "Come on, buddy. Let's go back." What was wrong with him? Was he scared of something? If so, what? Another crack of thunder gave him his clue. His lips pursed into an 'o' before sighing. Fortunately, he's dealt with this before. Tails was also afraid of lightning. "It's alright. Come on!" If he wouldn't get up himself, Sonic had no qualms about carrying him back. Silver: The weather had managed to get them both drenched. If Silver was sound of mind, he probably would have realized that sitting there was even more dangerous, especially under a tall tree. But the white hedgehog threw all logic out the window and instinct took over, and that instinct told him to curl up. Once Sonic showed up, the sudden touch startled him and he jolted back. About to run but then he realized who it was. What was Sonic doing here out in the rain? His eyes gave away how terrified he was but seeing Sonic calmed him down slightly. Sonic had come to get him. Silver would have been honored if he weren't so terrified. "O-okay..." The word was lost in the rainstorm but Sonic could probably understand by his mouthing that Silver had agreed. Of course, that next crack of lightning and thunder put forth another scream from the white hedgehog and without thinking, clung to the nearest object. It just so happened that the nearest object happened to be Sonic. Sonic: Sonic was already considering picking him up and running them back anyway. Silver's successful attempt to latch onto him only encouraged the idea. He would have found it a tad amusing if not for the fact he was wet not and rather cold. He wrapped his arms around the white hedgehog, rubbing his back soothingly. "Close your eyes and we'll be back before you open them." Sonic picked Silver up so that one arm had sweeped under the back of his legs and the other supported his back. He held him close to his chest and tried to shield as much as possible. Running back to the hut, though only took a few seconds for someone as fast as him, was a pain. The rain felt like needles at those speeds and Sonic was risking light headedness again. He managed to put his weight mostly on one arm and lean in close to the knob in order to let themselves inside. He kicked the door shut back behind him and quickly carried Silver over to an old couch. He laid him down and resisted the urge to shake off. That would just get everything else wet! "Now you relax here." Meanwhile, he left him briefly to bring him back a towel to help get him dry. Silver: Silver didn't even notice himself being picked up. All he cared about was clinging to this person that made him feel safe. He heard a voice, telling him to keep his eyes closed and that he would be okay. Whose voice was it? He honestly couldn't recall. Too caught up in his fear but he believed the voice. As soon as Sonic took off, Silver didn't have a choice whether to keep his eyes closed or not. The rain was coming down so hard that he couldn't keep his eyes open even if he tried. The speed felt familiar too. It felt like he was in Scourge's arms again. But that couldn't be, right? Suddenly he couldn't feel anymore rain pouring on him. He slowly opened his eyes and recognized it to be the hut that he and Sonic had shared last night. Though he could still hear the rain outside, at least he was safe indoors. Now just realizing that he was in Sonic's arms. So Sonic had carried him? That explained the familiar feeling. When Sonic went off to grab some towels, Silver didn't have anything else to cling to but himself. Yelping and biting his lip a little too hard as the outside world flashed and he heard another loud crack. Sonic: Sonic had dried himself off real quick before he came over. He didn't do a very good job since he was in a hurry but enough so he wasn't dripping all over the place. He sat down next to Silver and wrapped the blanket around him, pulling him close to his body and rubbing his hands up and down around his sides to get him dry. "Aw, don't tell me a tough guy like you is afraid of a little light show." He smirked, finding the trait oddly appealing. He didn't mind to comfort him if he needed it. Sonic had his own fears so he could understand where the guy was coming from. Silver: The sudden warmth had Silver a little startled and it only increased when he was pulled into Sonic's arms. He was grateful for it though, not realizing how cold he was before the blanket was put over him. Instinctively he curled up, nuzzling his cheek into Sonic's chest. If Sonic listened hard enough, or even could with all the rain outside, he might have been able to hear a soft purr coming from the one in his lap. "Yes...I'm terrified," was the mumbled response to the blue hedgheog's remark. As though it wasn't completely obvious. Perhaps it was childish, and Silver wasn't proud of the fact that he was scared of lightning. It was just something that couldn't be helped. Ears drooping. He was ashamed that Sonic saw him like this. Making another point that he couldn't take care of himself in the real world without a master. Sonic: Silver has seen him in worse situations. The blue hedgehog had also seen Silver in more humiliating positions himself. This was nothing to him. And he was more than happy to sit there with the other hedgehog until he felt better. He was a little red in the face though. Maybe flushed from the run. Sonic tried to distract them both, "I saved you some breakfast. Maybe you can eat it once you feel more comfortable." Silver: A nod. He hadn't eaten all day. That was pretty normal but it didn't mean he wasn't starving. "Thank you." Silver briefly wondered what exactly Sonic had saved him but decided not to think about it. He'd figure it out sooner or later anyway. For now, he was content. It got to a point where a wave of fatigue hit him. Eyelids drooping but they always snapped right back open at the occasional bolt of lightning. This place was on the ocean. It was only natural that it would get storms like this from time to time. "Sorry you had to go out in that. Why didn't you wait until it stopped?" Sonic: "And leave you out there like that? No way." He thought it was strange of him to ask even. It was a given that he'd help him whenever he needed it. In a way, he's managed to bond with Silver more and differently than anyone else he knew because he was there. He helped him in the absolute worst of times in his life. He honestly wasn't sure how he would have endured the days without the relief the white hedgehog provided with his company and kindness. "Don't worry, I'm sure it'll blow over soon. The thunder might be startling, but I'm not going to let it hurt ya." He smiled. Silver: Silver didn't know what to say to that. His words were generous enough. But seeing that smile helped fuel the blush that appeared on Silver's cheeks. He'd seen Sonic smile like that a lot lately yet he never got tired of it. Silver stared for a moment, seemingly hypnotized, before realizing he was rudely staring and quickly turned away. What had come over him? "I hope so..." the white hedgehog muttered, pressing his cheek against Sonic's chest again. Listening to his erratic heartbeat. Was it always like that. But it was so soothing to listen to, to focus on a different sound rather than the thunder. Silver hadn't even noticed that he'd started to purr again, completely content by how things were at this very moment. "I don't know how I'll ever be able to thank you..." Just saying those words didn't seem like enough. He felt he should do more for someone so amazing and kind. Sonic: Sonic looked away from him, trying not to stare too much himself. He was feeling a bit hot under the collar. He was afraid of the reason why as he held onto the other hedgehog. An ear swiveled downward in his direction as he responded. He shrugged a shoulder. "Well..." Now that he thought about it. "You could do me a favor." He glanced down at him. "I know it's going to be hard Silvs. But I don't want you to cut yourself short on anything. Believe me when I say you're worth just as much as my..." And it was very hard to say, "brother. I want you to just... have fun now, okay? Don't stress about anything. Everyone makes mistakes and around here, we all realize that. No one is going to yell at ya." He rubbed his hand against his side, hesitant but at least attempting to pet him. "It was really nice seeing you happy like you were today." Before the storm of course. "And... and I can't wait to see more of it." Silver: Silver looked up at the blue hedgehog expectantly, awaiting how he could return the hedgehog's kindness. The answer surprised him. All he had to do was...have fun? That was it? "I...guess I could do that." It was almost amusing how Silver made it seem like a harder task than it really was. But Silver was detmined. Despite how strange it sounded...he'd do anything for Sonic. Especially after the hedgehog braved the storm just to come and find him. And Silver had to admit, even he found it nice how much he enjoyed himself today. All they did was what came naturally yet Silver couldn't remember a time where he'd had so much...fun? Yes, that was the word. "...Really?" So Sonic liked seeing people happy...He'd have to keep that in mind. Sonic: Sonic nodded, looking away awkwardly. Silver was so innocent despite the fact he had been brought up in such a terrible world. He felt guilty for the direction his feelings were taking him. He tried to ignore them. The last thing he wanted to do was trouble the other. One step at a time. First... he needed to get Silver at least comfortable with his surroundings. He had all the time in the world now to work on any sort of... relationship with the white hedgehog. For now, at least it seems he had gotten his mind off the storm. Silver: His fatigue began to grow and sooner or later Silver found it harder to keep his eyes open. Understandable since he hadn't slept in the past day. Too much on his mind. The slight nap he'd taken next to the tree didn't compare to actual sleep. Now, he could barely stay awake. Wrapped up in a warm blanket, in Sonic's protective embrace...he couldn't be happier. Food could wait until later, Silver decided. Sleep was just too tempting. He was allowed to sleep right? He hoped so because as soon as the white hedgehog shifted into a more comfortable position, namely his head sliding down into Sonic's lap, Silver was out. Mumbling something incoherent before dozing off. And the small smile on his face showed that he wished this moment wouldn't end. Edited by Sonic the Hedgehog, May 27 2010, 03:12 AM.

Silver: A week had gone by and things were starting to look up for the past slaves. For the first time in his life, Silver had begun to open up to people. He was still incredibly shy but certainly not as bad as before. And he owed it all to Sonic. Without the blue hedgehog helping him along and encouraging him, he never would have gotten this far. And while Sonic went out running, Silver spent the time praticing his psychokinesis. A lot of things came naturally to him but the floating thing took a lot of pratice. Of course, getting closer to Sonic was unavoidable. He'd opened up to him the most, even going so far as to tell him about Blaze. "You remind me of her, you know. Fast, headstrong, and completely independant," he'd said, happy that he could finally talk about Blaze to someone who cared to listen. Sometimes Sonic would even pull him close again like he did the night of that storm. Silver loved it. He felt so safe while in Sonic's arms and treasured every moment of it. Before he was distracted with the rain, but this was the first time he'd actually heard himself purr with delight. He had no idea he could make that sound. Sonic: Over time, things could only get better. Him and Silver's relationship just continued to grow. Sonic was glad that the other was adapting as well as he was. Considering how long he had lived the life before, it was like this was his antidote. The key to unleash his potential and enjoy life to the fullest. Sonic liked him. A lot. He spent most of his time with him even when he didn't have to. Of course, he hung out plenty with his other friends too and even managed to fit in some alone time. But he always wound up with Silver in the end. It helped that they were still sharing a room together. Today seemed like any other as well. He woke up but with a hedgehog in his arms! He had forgotten about falling asleep with him last night. ...Nothing happened... yet. The blue hedgehog couldn't be sure what it meant for Silver to really bond with him. He was different than others. He couldn't decipher whether or not the hedgehog was... Ya know. Into him. Last night there had been another storm. Not as bad as the rest but it gave him an excuse to get particularly close to the white hedgehog. He tried to see if he was awake yet. If he wasn't, he considered letting him sleep in while he retrieved some breakfast. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary this morning. The morning fishermen were back with their first catch which could be used along with the local fruits and vegetables for breakfast if the villagers preferred something fresh. Jules and Bernie made sure that there was no shortage of food and medical supplies. Though the village was fairly self sufficient at this point they still brought in prepackaged food in case the fisheries dried up. That food was stored in a silo near the edge of the settlement. This morning a fox girl headed in that direction by herself to stock up on some supplies for preparing lunch later on that day. Once there she closed and locked the door only to speak into a communicator she had hidden in her bust. " This is Agent F. " She spoke softly. " The harvesters are back from their morning run. Everyone is now in the village. The operation is a-go. " The intruders moved into position quickly. Using their stealth suits to their advantage they were able to sneak up to the outer borders of the village rather easily. First they had to secure the perimeter to ensure that no one escaped. That meant a few very soft 'popping' noises that could have been mistaken for animals could be heard. Those were the agents passing barbed wire back and forth to create a grid that would encircle the entire village. Estimated Time: sixty seconds. Silver: Silver had actually been awake for quite some time. He was just so content with lying here in Sonic's arms that he didn't dare wake the blue hedgehog up and risk ending the moment. He snuggled his cheek lovingly onto Sonic's body before waiting for the blue hedgehog to wake up (since he'd have to do it sooner or later but Silver wouldn't rush the process). Once Sonic began moving around did Silver guess that he was awake. "Morning..." He mumbled softly and looking up into Sonic's tired emeralds. "Thank you for last night. I feel a lot better." Sonic: Ah, looks like he was awake after all. Reluctantly he started to move. He'd sit up on the bed next to Silver, trying to act casual. He almost had to check himself - last night he dreamed of something rather ... interesting. Fortunately, there were no surprises this morning. Things could have gotten very awkward really fast. "It's alright." He smiled over at Silver, resisting a yawn. That smile turned a bit more mischievous and smug. "If I were you, I'd want to hang onto me too." They finished in fifty two seconds. Now a ten foot tall wall of barbed wire had been created around the edges of the village with one narrow opening towards the back. With the prompting of an official they attached prongs to certain areas of the fence to charge it with electricity and ensure no one was making it over. Not alive, anyway. There was now effectively only one way in and out of the village. The subordinates moved into position at the mouth of the opening armed to the teeth. They'd been instructed to capture all of the slaves that would soon be fleeing their homes with the provided restraints as quickly and efficiently as possible. They'd be tossed aside once they were bound so the next one could be and rounded up. A fairly swift operation. One of the captains gave the signal that they were now in position. Another confirmed it and urged those still by the electric fence to dawn their gas masks. The first round would be a fowl smelling gas that smelled of rotten eggs. The longer they were exposed the more their lungs and noses would burn. It was not harmful but it would render them helpless if they stayed in it more then five minutes. On the captain's signal the intruders started throwing opened canisters of the stuff over the fence and into the village walkways. They exploded on contact to release that fowl smelling gas cloud that signaled the beginning of an attack! Silver: He blushed. Unfortunately Sonic and even himself didn't realize how far Silver would take that remark. He'd somewhat gotten used to Sonic's "crude" humor, even though most of the time he didn't understand it. But before he could say anything, something else caught his attention. "Do...you hear something?" Something wasn't right. Reluctantly he looked away from the blue hedgehog and got out of bed, taking a look out the window. What he saw shocked him. "W-what the?!" That fence hadn't been there yesterday! And...and who were all these people? He could hear the screaming of the frantic villagers outside now. "Sonic, what's going on?" He asked, now quite frightened himself. Sonic: Silver caught on before he did. He pulled himself out of the bed, brushing off his first question as he made an attempt to listen. He was puttin' on his socks and shoes at the time. He thought he heard something too but it didn't really sink in as to what until Silver started looking out the window. The screams he heard hit him hard. He's lived this nightmare before. "No..." Sonic's eyes widened, fearful to look out the same window, but he had to. He ran to it, looking out and seeing the smoke. He also noticed some kind of fence set-up. Barbed wire? "...They... They found us?" He said it disbelievingly. He didn't want to believe it. Just like the first time, it seemed that everyone was going to have to endure the hell all over again. No! It wasn't fair! How could this happen again!? "No, no, no!" Sonic's hands balled into fists, his body shaking nervously. Had to keep calm. He couldn't get worked up and risk breathing any harder than he was now. If he got dizzy or lightheaded, he'd have no chance at all. He had to help. He wouldn't let them down again! In a second he was out of the room, only to give Silver a piece of cloth to help him endure the smoke better. He'd get one for himself but his hands were going to be full. "Hold that against your mouth and nose." Sonic had swept Silver off his feet without really giving him a chance to say anything. "Alright, Silver, I need you to stay really calm okay? I need you to focus." Those powers of his were going to have to come in handy. He just hoped that Silver wouldn't freak out. Sonic burst out of the hut, running along the fence line. He dreaded the thought that it'd encircle the entire village. Sonic wasn't sure of the extent of Silver's powers. Could he break the fence? He was certain he could move objects at a good size at least. A mobian size. Maybe he could lift people over the fence? "Silver, you gotta help them. Can you do something about the fence? Or try to lift people over it?" In the meantime, he'd try to avoid the actual invaders. Most of the slaves here didn't stand a chance. Anyone who tried to run towards the woods would be in for a nasty surprise since those Marauders were still out there. Since the aim was to ensure that their soon-to-be precious cargo wouldn't get roughed up too much tranquiler guns were prepared and shot at anyone who even attempted to approach the fence to ensure they didn't hurt themselves. It was like shooting fish in a barrel, really. There was no sport in it. Agent F, the mole they put in this camp, was quite helpful in assisting the Marauders in locating Lord Scourge's runaways right down to the hut they were staying in. This was vital. The projected future King's slaves could not be harmed in this operation. That meant a more local trap would have to be set around their hut to ensure that they didn't get far when they ran. The trap was set up overnight while most of the slaves were sleeping. Stealth Suit Murders were able to construct it under the cover of night. When finished Sonic and Silver wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between normal ground and that unusually thin ground that gave way shortly after he left through the door of his home. The Marauders thought the best way to contain them was with a soft mud pit that was constructed to be ten by ten feet and twenty feet deep. At the bottom was a mixture of mud, leaves, and grass to break their fall. Silver: Sonic's reactions only scared him even more. Before he knew it he was given a cloth and instructions for it, and then swiped up into Sonic's arms. Alright, stay calm. Putting the cloth over his nose and mouth, he soon saw the reason why as they made it outside. Or rather, smelled. Ugh, how awful! The electirc fence was incredibly tall. He didn't know if he was skilled enough to lift someone that hight. But he had to try. For everyone's sake in the village. Now he knew what was going on and he couldn't believe he hadn't thought of it when he first saw the destruction. This wasn't happening. He'd just gotten used to this way of life! "I can try," Silver said through the cloth. And he would soon be able to try. As soon as Sonic stepped out of their hut, they both found that there wasn't any ground to run on. Well, better to pratice now than later! Silver squirmed out of Sonic's grip (after getting rid of the initial shock) but kept his hands around Sonic's wrists. Here goes absolutely nothing. He closed his eyes, concentrating, before stopping himself in mid-fall. This was a lot harder with a second person but Silver couldn't let the slight change in weight distract him. All he concentrated on was going up, flying them out and above the trap. He didn't touch down yet, just in case. Sonic: Sonic gasped as the ground felt like it was taken out from under him. Before he knew it, he was falling! ...Right into a mixture of mud. If not for Silver, it would have been difficult for him to get out of it. It was hard to pick his legs back up let alone move to one side of the hole and try to climb out. Immediately he had the idea of Silver lifting them out but it seemed the white hedgehog was one step in front of him. While the force he felt around him felt unstable, it was enough to get them out of the hole. Sonic's legs were straining to move before they even hit the ground. He was going to take off and run fast. It'd make it much harder for anyone to get a hold of them if they could barely see them. Someone was waiting for them just as they started to come out of the hole. Surprisingly they were there by themselves without any help from the Marauders who were nearly finished rounding up the other slaves already. Instead he approached the edge of the hole and looked down just as Silver started to come up. How predictable. He should have just saved himself the trouble and stayed where he was. Dr. Finitevus: A pair of dark eyes were locked on the white hedgehog as he almost came out of the hole. Silver may recognize the mobian waiting for them as his former Master, Lord Finitevus, who looked rather calm despite the fact that they were still trying to escape. " Good morning. " He started rather calmly as he flexed his hands in preparation. If Silver didn't catch on that the jig was up then he may have to physically stop him for fleeing. That would be rather disappointing. " Or rather it would be if just go back into the hole and wait patiently while we finish rounding up the other runaways. " That was an order. Silver: Startled was an understatement. "L-lord Fi-" And he stopped himself short. He almost said a Lord's name! A slave was never supposed to utter the names of Lords.. No, no! He wasn't a slave anymore and he accepted that! Not after all the hard work Sonic had to do to get that through his head. Of course, looking at everything now... "...No." His first act of resilliance. And he was probably going to die for that, or worse. The grip on Sonic's arms clenched slightly and Silver whispered to him, "You have to get out of here. I'll distract them for as long as I can. I know you're fast enough to get out of here and you can't get caught." Not again. He never wanted to see Sonic so miserable again. If he lived through this. Sonic: Silver must not know him very well at all. The last thing he wanted to do was leave anybody behind, especially him. There was something inside of him that compelled him to do the right thing whether it was a dumb idea or not. Fleeing for himself may have been a solution some would have taken. But what could he do then? He needed Silver regardless of the fact that he just didn't want to leave him behind. Especially not with this jerk. He couldn't take down the fence or get anyone over it on his own. With only one way out and bein' a tad outnumbered, Sonic wasn't even sure if he could make it. But that was if he was so selfish as to leave *everyone* behind. No way, he just couldn't do that. They had to work as a team. "We're in this together." Sonic hissed back for only him to hear, "I'll do everything I can to keep you safe, Silver." He once again swept him up against his chest. He kicked off hard to rush around Finitevus, whipping up a whirlwind from those fast moving feet. He had a new goal in mind as he ran for the fence. "Come on, lift us over!" Dr. Finitevus: Silver was fortunate that he'd been given orders not to kill him today. He should have known that the penalty for his disobedience was death. That much showed in the sinister tint that lit up his eyes. It was clear indication that the white echidna wanted to lash out against him but didn't. The Lord was under strict orders to simply capture the hedgehogs rather then harm them. While Silver and his cohort had a little back and forth about what to do he readied his powers. A flex of the hand caused a purple aura to flare up around his bandaged fingers. No surprise that Sonic was going to try and run from him but he was rather surprised that Silver would defy him as well. He was raised better then that. Finitevus made his mode just as Sonic went to pick up Silver again. A careful eye watched for which way the hedgehog would run and moved so he could tag him just as the defiant slave started to run. He was thankful that Scourge's battery of the formerly fast hedgehog slowed him down somewhat as he himself was a bit rusty with his capture maneuvers. Any faster and Finitevus may have missed him completely. A snap of the hand brought that purple energy surrounding his hand out in a willowing whip that flew fast and low towards Sonic's fleeing ankles. The aim was to wrap one of those energy tendrils around his ankle to lasso him. Sonic would feel the numbing effects of that dark energy almost immediately if it touched his fur and skin but that was just the beginning. If he did snare the blue hedgehog he'd tense up his own body and yank backwards in an attempt to floor him. Silver: Back in Sonic's arms again. He seemed to be finding himself here a lot lately. The shade of purple aura that was surrounding Lord Finitevus' hand was very similar to his own, only Silver couldn't create objects with his powers (only move them). Perhaps being in the echidna's custody for all those years was a little useful now, when they were like this. Silver knew exactly what the Lord was going to do. He didn't get a chance to warn Sonic before he took off so he had to take things into his own hands. "Sonic, MOVE!" He barely made the move in time, thrusting them both away from the attack and into midair a few inches off the ground. Only this time he wasn't holding onto Sonic but holding him up with his own power. Drastic times called for drastic measured, it seemed. He stood in front of Sonic to block anymore actions from the echidna. And in a whisper he added, "I...I'll protect you too." Sonic: Unlike Silver, Sonic didn't even see the attack coming. He was focused on reaching his goal and beginning to struggle. He was getting slower and he could feel himself getting dizzy. He was panting, nervous and upset, it was hard to keep control of himself but he knew he had to. It was just harder to get air. He was taking deeper breaths but determined to not give up. What he didn't expect was for Silver to act out. He was protecting him. The blue hedgehog felt touched by both instances. He knew it had to take a lot for the white hedgehog to be able to face his old Master and refuse to listen to him. It was just too bad they weren't out of this yet. Silver was able to thwart Finitevus's attack but Sonic knew the longer they stayed within the fence, the worse their chances became of getting out of here at all. Dr. Finitevus: Indeed. The Marauders were already finished rounding up the mobians who could run after the gas attack. The last of them was a frightened two tailed kit that was subdued rather easily and thrown onto a pile with the others. Following his recapture the group of black suited mobians started to storm the village and round up anyone who subsumed to the gas inside. Sonic and Silver would be able to see it all. Houses were raided, property broken, and when the buildings were flushed out of valuables set aflame by order of the King. Finitevus paid no mind to his allies work. He looked dissatisfied that his attack missed his mark but he was certain that the next would not miss. This time he approached the two struggling with both of his palms turned upwards. The energy radiating from them became that much stronger. " Give up. " It was over before they even got out of bed. All of this futile struggling was just prolonging the inevitable. " You are on an island in the middle of the ocean swarming with slave hunters. Your - " Referring to the blue hedgehog. " - parents were arrested outside of Moebotropolis' borders last night and your uncle will be arrested shortly. Your friends and fellow villagers have already been captured. They will be beaten, punished, and resold as cheap labor in my homeland. " The Lord did not attack them yet but he was ready in case they tried something more. " You may struggle as you please but know that there is no possible way that you can escape us let alone survive on this island. " They were finished. Sonic: Sonic glared at Finitevus from behind Silver. He was trying to think of some way out of this. He wanted to make another run for the fence but wasn't sure he'd be able to move fast enough. In fact, he was certain he'd move much slower now. Especially with what Finitevus said. Sonic's knees felt like buckling. He thought that maybe he might faint. The distress he felt was just painful. His mom and dad... His friends. Just looking around him, it was happening all over again; his world was being taken away from him. His life. And this time it came with the certainty that he most definitely won't get it back. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to him or Silver. He wanted to protect him and everyone else so much but he was feeling all too helpless again. In an act of sheer fury and emotional upset, he finally lashed out. He curled up and spun out from around Silver, aiming for the echidna himself. Dr. Finitevus: An attack from Silver would have been more productive then an attack from the spinning hedgehog. Sonic could be dealt with easily, however, and could probably be used for his own benefit anyway. When the hedgehog threw himself at him he brought a foot backwards to brace on and expelled all of the dark Chaos Energy in his hands at once. This was going to cause a reaction similar to Sonic running into a brick wall at about sixty miles per hour. A pure wall of energy was expelled from his body in an attempt to overwhelm the attacking hedgehog. He'd feel it overwhelm him all right. Sonic was going to feel a burning sensation across his fur and body when that dark energy swept over him and ultimately pushed him back towards the ground. It was almost as if he was on fire. That would best be summed up as some type of energy reaction: the energy in Sonic's body reacting negatively to his own. The ending result was little more then a car wreck. The downside of that show stopping technique was that it took a lot out of him also. He began to feel dizzy almost immediately after expelling that energy, but he had to remain firm. Silver: He hadn't even noticed how enraged Sonic was becoming. If he did he would have stopped him. This time Sonic moved too fast for his own good. "No Sonic, wait!" Silver knew this would not turn out well. He was afraid to stop Finitevus' attack; worried about what his energy would do when mixed with the echidna's. "Sonic!" Silver was about to go over to him but stopped when he remembered Finitevus was there. This was not good. Looking around, he set his sights on exactly what he was looking for. He knew this probably wasn't the best idea to mess with the houses but they were already broken...and a giant piece of a house made some great ammo. Especially when it was on fire. "Get away from him!" No warning, the debree was picked up and thrown full force at the exhaused echidna. Silver didn't even bother to think about what he did, only going over to Sonic to see if he was alright. Sonic: His hopes were that he'd be a little too quick for him. While he was focused on Silver, he'd rush in and take him out. He supposed he didn't exactly think that all the way through either. He was acting more on impulse than anything. Unfortunately, the end result was a bad one on his end. The energy he felt course through him was something he had never felt before. He was so upset, he struggled to fight through it, to spin harder, but ultimately gave in pretty quick. Sonic didn't have the strength to hold himself in that position. He collapsed against the ground, gasping in pain and trying to catch his breath. He had worked himself way over his limit at this point. Sonic clenched his teeth together, groaning in pain. The burning was pretty intense. It was impossible to handle but somehow he was still aware of what else was going on. Silver... As willing and brave as his own spirit was, his body just couldn't keep up. The pressure was on the white hedgehog now. Sonic had failed when he was in the best condition of his life; and now that his body was even less than that, he stood no chance. He was simply in denial. In the end, he knew what was inevitable no matter how much he cried against it. Dr. Finitevus: That one attack had left Finitevus wide open for an attack from Silver. He'd put too much muscle behind punishing Sonic and it appeared that he was going to be punished in return. Though he tried to hold strong he still felt a weakness in his knee that caused him to bend on it slightly just as Silver launched an attack of his own. Finitevus could break it up, he thought, but in doing so he'd have to expel the rest of his energy and leave himself wide open. Perhaps it was best -- Scourge: -- to leave it to a professional. A sharp booming noise could be heard cutting through the air shortly before a spiky green and black object slammed into the flaming rubble causing it to dissolve into thousands of little pieces. It wasn't often that he of all people came to the defense of another mobian but Lord Finitevus was one of the few friends that he had. There was no way he'd allow him to be one upped by some slave. Scourge skidded to a stop in front of Finitevus looking rather pissed that he had to step into this at all. Without his gas mask, too, which made the air in the now burning village less then unbearable. His lungs were starting to hurt already but he would endure it for as long as it would take. Paying little mind to Sonic (as usual) he boldly approached Silver with a steady look. Was he hurt? Upset? Try more then a little disappointed that he would be at the center of all of this. He expected Sonic to run at the first opportunity but not the slave that he damn near trusted with his life. " Silver - " He started. " - I'm only gonna tell you this one 'fore I do to you what I did to -him-. " Gesturing to the downed blue hedgehog who be brutalized over the months. " If you cared about me an' everything I did for you then you're gonna just go ahead and Sit for me right now an' forget all those lies you were told here. There's no such thing as a free slave. " Just a bunch of slaves that were lost and confused. Sonic: As if matters weren't horrible already. Seeing a glimpse of that green fur immediately told him who the culprit was. Sonic already knew before he got there though. That distinct sound he made was easily recognizable to a guy who could muster up the same moves. Sonic was still trying to get over the fact that his body felt torched. He wasn't sure how Finitevus was able to do that but he struggled to cope. His hands shook feebly but pressed against the ground, trying to lift himself up as a drooped ear perked up at the sound of Scourge's voice. He glanced up towards Silver, "Don't listen to him." His voice was strained but desperate to be heard, "Be strong. You have to." He adored who Silver was and not what they tried to make him out to be. It was heart breaking to think they would try all over again. |

OOC: Heyyyy, you guys went on without me *feels unloved*Looks like he wouldn't get the chance to go to Sonic's side. The distinct sound of the sonic boom had him pause and that was his first mistake. "Ma-master..." Another slip of the tongue and that may as well have been it for him. It was bad enough that he had to lash out on Lord Finitevus, the master he'd been under the longest, but Scourge? He couldn't lie, life with Scourge wasn't horrible. Just as he told the Lord on the plane, Scourge was probably the kindest master he'd ever had (at least to him). He couldn't do it. His body was frozen in terror and he listened intently to Scourge's words, just like he was taught to do. "They...they weren't lies!" Silver knew there was no such thing as a free slave. So that's why this village took away one of those titles. They weren't free slaves here, just Frees. He did care about what Master did for him, really. But this was a matter of life and death. Should he listen to his master or to Sonic? Which one meant more to him? The answer was obvious. Silver didn't Sit. He just stood there, trembling slightly. And now he knew for sure he was going to die, or at least get maimed horribly. That was fine, he wouldn't fight back. But if they started attacking Sonic...well, that was another story. |

Scourge wouldn't deny that he was disappointed in Silver for his decision. It seemed that he was more adamant about staying on this forsaken piece of rock then trying to come back into his good graces. Not like he'd ever truly be on his good side again after betraying him like this. He couldn't decide whether he was more pissed or hurt by the situation. Either way the feeling that it caused made him sick. Rather then advance on the two weakened hedgehogs further Scourge stood up straight from his fighting stance to show that he wasn't interested in a confrontation. Knocking Silver out would have been too easy in his terrified state. " Looks like you've made your decision. " He told the white hedgehog lowly. Then he turned away from his former slaves to look towards Lord Finitevus. " Come on, man. Let's get outta here. " This wasn't worth his time, energy, or anymore of his money to take care of these ingrates. He'd cut his losses right here and now. As Finitevus pulled out his communicator to make the move official Scourge looked over his shoulder to Silver once more. " If you believe in what that punk told you then you can stay here with 'im. I don't care anymore. " It was hard to say that he was beaten here. He'd more then recover his losses on Sonic and Silver by reselling all of the other slaves. In the end that was all that was important. |

Needless to say Sonic was surprised. At the very least, he expected him to kill one of them. Sonic was fully expecting that mobian to be himself. He knew Scourge had taken a liking to Silver but he was sure if he truly cared for him he would have never treated him as something lower than himself. Silver was an amazing guy. It was Scourge's loss that he'll never be able to see it, even if he got him to come back to him now. The green hedgehog never gave him the chance to be who he really is, and he was sure that's why Silver chose him over his former 'Master.' Sonic had managed to push himself up at this point. It took a lot to hold himself in a standing position but he did it. He stood alongside of Silver, watching anxiously. He didn't expect it to be this easy. Even though the rest of his friends and family were ... His mom and dad. "What's... going to happen to my family?" He knew what would happen to his friends. But Finitevus said that they were jailed or something. Surely, even if Scourge was a pompous asshole, he wouldn't let them be in any real serious danger, right? He loved them too, right? Then again, Scourge wasn't exactly King yet either. Edited by Sonic the Hedgehog, May 27 2010, 02:53 PM.

Silver disagreed. The way Scourge talked about his parents whenever they were brought up was mostly anger and frustration. And jealously, couldn't forget that. He hated to think it but he honestly wouldn't be surprised if something horrible was happening to Sonic's parents at the moment. Perhaps it was easier to believe for him because he never had parents but that didn't make it right. Yet that still begged the question...Why did Sonic's parents do what they did? Why separate their children and have them live completely different lives from each other? Only to turn into...this. "Wha...?" He was shocked. Just like that, Scourge was giving up on him. Shocked, but relieved. Master wasn't going to hurt his brother...But Scourge had disowned him, so that didn't make him Silver's master anymore, right? For some reason, it felt like a huge weight had lifted off the white hedgehog's shoulders. OOC: Blah. Post is teh suck.

The answer to Sonic's question was obvious. Jules and Bernie were indicted on charges of high treason against the Kingdom of Moebotropolis. When (not if) convicted they would face the Death Penalty. Traitors to the crown were simply not tolerated in this Kingdom. Preparations for a trail including the gathering of a substantial amount of evidence was nearing its completion. The Lords expected this to be a speedy trial given the overwhelming evidence against the Hedgehogs. They'd been on their case for years but only now made a move to shut down their little operation. " Who cares? " Was he response to Sonic as he checked on Finitevus' condition. Whatever his parents for got their treachery was fully deserved. What did they care that slavers lost millions because valuable slaves were freed with their assistance? Since they didn't care about the losses that others (including their son) would endure at their hands why should he care about the pair of traitors? Scourge relented from attacking because his backup wasn't feeling well. Lord Finitevus was panting and who knows what else was wrong with him. Ultimately he decided to sling an arm across his shoulders to help him balance as they headed to the mouth of the village. " Give me that. " In regards to the communicator which he took promptly to issue one more hushed command. " When we get through the barrier seal it up an' throw another round of mortars over the fence. " Yeah, he was letting them go but not without a harsh punishment. If Sonic and Silver lived through this they wouldn't have the tools and protection of the village to fall back on. This whole area was being razed ... preferably with them still inside. |

Sonic: Scourge left him speechless. Who cares? How could he say something like that? Sure, he'd agree that his folks didn't go about raising them the right away - or rather failed miserably at raising Scourge -but they had done so much good. Money was nothing compared to a life. Some people really needed to get their priorities straightened, and if they want something done, do it themselves! No body NEEDED a slave. It was an unnecessary luxury at the expense of another person's happiness and well being! Sonic looked to Silver, for once lost and wishing the other had the answers. He knew he was looking in the wrong place. Silver relied on him to be strong but he was very pleased with the white hedgehog. He showed more backbone than he expected. He stood up to those jerks and for that he was really proud of him. Unfortunately, they weren't out of this mess yet. And Sonic still felt horrible about what was going to happen to his friends and family. Unaware of what Scourge had said, he turned away, intent on still getting out of here. It'd be safest to flee from here before the gasses really got to them. "We still need to get over the fence." He mumbled towards the white hedgehog, uncertain if he had the strength to pick him up this time and rush him over. Silver: Granted his hearing wasn't the best, but the way Scourge was quietly talking into that communicator was obviously nothing good for them. The gas was starting to get to Silver as well. If they didn't get out of here soon he'd choke. But Sonic was more worn out than he was. He still had the cloth that the blue hedgehog had given him before to protect himself from the gas. Handing it to Sonic; he'd need it more than him. And Silver would need the free hands anyway. "I know. I'll get us out." Sonic was in no condition to be running anymore so it was up to him. All he heard was 'seal' but it was enough to know to get the heck out of there before they had the chance to seal the two hedgehogs in. As quickly as he could, Silver scooped up Sonic in the same way Sonic had done to him so many times before. There was no time for another position. He bolted towards the edge of the barrier, not at all as fast as but fast enough to get some momentum; enough to launch himself into the air and using his powers to hover the rest of the way over the fence. He clung to Sonic tightly to make sure he didn't accidently stuggle and fall. Was that the only reason? Yes, of course it was...Maybe? Silver touched down and immediately looked back for a split second to see if he was being followed. Nothing yet and he didn't want to stick around to find out. Bolting off into the nearby woods. Scourge: The Marauders had been given instructions to let the two remaining slaves go when they escaped. No one bothered to stop them when they made a run for it as predicted. Instead they concentrated on grabbing the last of the valuables from the village before sealing the entrance up with the barbed wire. On the captain's command another round of mortars were thrown over the fence well after Silver made his daring escape. This caused a large 'WHOOSH'ing noise and turned the skies a mixture of red and orange from the flames. Nothing would be able to live on that smoldering spot of land after this. Lord Scourge took his longtime friend into a transport waiting at the edge of the island opposite of where Silver and Sonic dashed off to. " You gonna be all right, man? " Honestly he didn't know from the sound of his panting. Dr. Finitevus: Finitevus settled down in the seat with a heavy sigh. His age was beginning to catch up with him and he didn't like it. In his prime he would have been able to use that technique at least three times before tiring to disable a group of unruly targets. " I'll live. " A little sweet wine from his cellar at home would do him wonders. Scourge: " Good. " Instead of stepping into the vehicle himself he took a few steps backwards so other Marauders could pile in around Finitevus for security purposes. It was unlikely they'd be attacked after that display but - " I'll be back in town tomorrow mornin'. Don't wait up for me. " Dr. Finitevus: " You're going back for them? " Finitevus couldn't say that he wasn't surprised. It seemed like a waste to him. Scourge: Scourge shook his head. " Nah. Not really. " He didn't intend on bringing them back since that just complicated things. " I'm just goin' to make sure they're dead. " Sonic: The fact that he had respiratory problems was doubled with complications due to the fact that he had inhaled some of the smoke. It made his lungs ache and he knew he wouldn't be able to run. Walking was starting to become a problem. This time, however, it seemed that Silver was going to be able to take the lead. Sonic took the cloth from him gratefully. He put it against his mouth and nose and tried to use it as a filter as Silver led them towards the fence. He curled against Silver tighter, waiting to feel his feet hit the ground again. He was still concerned about where they were going and whether or not they'd really be left alone. "Go as far away as you can." He advised, resisting the urge to look back on his village... or what used to be. Silver: "Right." He didn't need to be told twice. First thing that needed to be done was to get to some place with fresh air. It would do them both some good after nearly suffocating in that toxic gas. Sonic was looking none too worse for wear and Silver held him tighter, incredibly worried for his health. It felt like hours for how long he was running and Silver couldn't tell how long it really was. He'd run away until he couldn't run anymore; as fast as he could and as far as he could. And he wouldn't look back, couldn't, at the place where he'd been happiest. "I'm so sorry..." Silver couldn't begin to imagine what thoughts were going through Sonic's head. Everything happened so fast...He was right. It wasn't fair. Scourge: The Runaways may have been relieved to see that the Marauder's stealth vehicles were finally leaving the island. There appeared to be about seven of them hovering in the air shortly before the cloaking device was put back into place. That was the reason they were able to sneak onto the island without being seen in the first place. Now the Marauders were gone as quickly as they appeared with their precious cargo still in tact. Scourge had his own way off the island: a personal boat that he docked on the far side of the island in about the same place that Sonic and Silver came aboard. He wouldn't ask the Marauders to come back for him once he finally put these two out of their misery. Come to think of it he should have killed Sonic when he had the opportunity. Then nothing like this would have happened. Ah well. You live and you learn. The plan of action was rather simple. He'd wait close to his boat for an hour or so until the fire died down. Rest. Eat. Drink. Anything to reserve his energy for the hunt ahead. He learned this technique from his Marauder friends. Slaves were likely to keep running until they were completely exhausted and then rest. He'd move in on them refreshed while Sonic and Silver rested up from their early morning adventure ... Sonic: Things were beginning to feel surreal. He was hoping that somehow he could wake up and that this was all some horrible nightmare. Unfortunately, the pain he had already suffered was all too real. Sonic stayed quiet the entire time Silver led them away. He was terribly depressed over what happened but was straining to think of some kind of solution. One of which was how they themselves would get off the island. They could probably make their own shelter and get along here for a while. But Sonic wondered how he could save his friends. He was not willing to give up on them yet. If his parents managed to start something like that, then maybe he could too. What was even better was that he was identical to Scourge. Surely that could benefit him in some way, right? He could trick people. For now at least that was the idea. He had to tell himself something in order to relax even just a bit. To believe now everything was hopeless again wasn't a pit of despair he wanted to revisit. But it was really hard not to. He was just clinging to the edge ... which so happened to be Silver. "I'm sorry too." Sonic grunted, no longer light headed and dizzy. He started to shift, indicating that he could stand on his own now. "I wanted you to have a normal life." He wanted to make up for the childhood Silver never got to have. He knew he wasn't going to be able to accomplish that now. Silver: It was lucky Sonic felt well enough to stand again because Silver was feeling his own body start to collapse. He wasn't built like Sonic was; built for endurance for this kind of running. The white hedgehog leaned against a nearby tree and gently let Sonic down on his feet, collapsing off his own shortly after. He just needed a moment to catch his breath. "D-don't be..." Silver mumbled while leaning his back against the tree. "I wasn't meant to have a normal life anyway." If someone was playing a trick on him, it was a very cruel one. Just as he's starting to get used to his life as a Free, this has to happen. It was like some twisted joke. Even if he appreciated everything Sonic did for him, Silver couldn't help but think that now it was just a waste of time. Scourge: Scourge waited about an hour and thirty before heading out to look for those two again. This time he'd be prepared to finish the job. All he figured that he needed was a handgun from the boat. There was no need in getting his hands dirty when it came to finishing off these slaves. The temptation to ring the blue furball's neck for ruining his good slave was definitely there, though. Tracking those two down wasn't take too long even if he couldn't use the extent of his speed. The island was fairly small and he could cover a lot of ground. Logic told him that those two weren't willing to go back to the village just yet in fear of being captured. They'd probably stay away from the edges of the island too in fear of being captured. The Marauder's ships were on one side of the island and no one reported spotting them so that left him with a 'general idea' of where they could be. He kept it moving but tried to keep quiet in hopes that he could hear them. More particularly he wanted to hear him; the slave with the respiratory problems who may very well give off their position with his wheezing. Scourge alternated between moving, stopping, and listening in antsy participation before going on the move again. All and all it took him another forty five minutes to hone in on their location. They probably thought they were safe by then. Scourge froze up when he spotted a hint of white in the trees. That had to be Silver. He took cover behind a trunk and prepared his weapon for what was about to happen. He'd only have one clear shot of them so he'd have to make it count. What to shoot. Where to go for. How to handle things regardless of whether he hit or miss. Those were all options that he had to weigh. His formal training only prepared him to shoot the gun, damn it. The rest of the stuff he never thought he'd have to personally take care of. After taking in one heated breathe he made his move. Quickly he twisted his body around the trunk, took aim, and fired one shot at the lower section of Silver's right leg. His aim was to incapacitate Silver since the other one was pretty much a sitting duck without Silver's assistance. |

The attack came as quite the surprise. Sonic had hoped Scourge would have stayed true to his word. Or at the very least, that they would have had a chance to really recover before something bad happened. Fortunately, Sonic managed to recuperate a little while he was being carried. His heart wasn't racing as fast and he wasn't breathing as hard. But what energy he had left wasn't going to last long. Then disaster struck. Sonic's eyes widened. He saw the flash of the bullet just as it went to embed its self into Silver's leg. The blue hedgehog was used to catching fast movement considering the speeds he was capable of himself. "Silver!!" It took him less than a second to pinpoint the location of where and who fired the shot. While he instinctively wanted to go aid him, he knew it was wisest to incapacitate the attacker first. That didn't take much convincing. Sonic was beyond hurt and infuriated - not to mention terribly concerned now for Silver's well being. They had no means of taking care of an injury to that degree! Sonic launched himself in lightning speed towards their assailant. Scourge... Sonic aimed to tackle him and take away his gun. If he got lucky, maybe he could use it back on him. |

They both were caught off guard by the shot. Silver suddenly felt an exploding pain in his right leg and his breath caught in his throat. He couldn't even scream. At first it felt like he was in a daze, like this wasn't really happening, but the pain in his leg brought him back to the terrible reality. Blood stained his snow-white fur and even though Silver couldn't see the wound, he could see the blood. He hated the sight of blood. He couldn't hear Sonic, even though they were right next to each other. His body had begun to panic, warning signs were going off, and Silver couldn't focus on anything but the pain. Even when Sonic had left his side, he didn't notice. His breath finally came out in scream, clutching the wound like he was trying to hold the blood in, gloves now ruined, and tears threatening to fall. It couldn't be helped; he'd never felt this kind of pain before. And in the back of his head he knew the same that Sonic did. There was no way to treat this kind of wound on the island. What hit him? Who did it? Edited by Silver the Hedgehog, May 28 2010, 11:52 PM.

Fastest Thing Alive

Scourge: He only stayed visible long enough to confirm that he hit his mark. The best thing he could do following that was take cover behind the same trunk he hid himself behind the first time. This time he moved down low to settle at the base of the tree for improved cover. He knew that something was coming. Either it was going to be Sonic or it was going to be a projectile. Their intelligence didn't tell them what kind of weapons they may have had in the village so he didn't want to take any chances. The bark of the tree should take anything short of a high powered rifle. Or a spinning blue hedgehog. Scourge's first instinct was to just shoot the hedgehog as he slammed against the tree. Changes are he was going to break the trunk in two with his spin dash which, in truth, would have been impressive since the blue hedgehog had been so weak these past few months. Must have been the anger fueling him. One nagging feeling was preventing him from firing even though he had an open shot. Something the Council said. His orders were to bring his brother back with minimal injury. Though he really wanted to kill the bastard he knew that Blue could be useful for his future plans. So he took an alternate route. At least for now. He could kill him later if he really wanted to (and he REALLY wanted to). Hoping that Sonic would be slowed down by the trunk he rolled to one side and made a dash for Silver. He closed the distance in about a second so he stood around the upper half of the shaken white hedgehog. The barrel of the handgun was charged and the tip pointed towards his former slave's head as he searched out the blue hedgehog. When he saw him he started. " Stay where you are. " This time he only made it a suggestion. It was fairly obvious what would happen if he didn't. " I don't think you can outrun this bullet in your sorry state. " And Silver likely couldn't concentrate enough to stop him through the pain. Sonic: He'd be surprised then. The trunk of that tree was embedded with quills. He almost got all the way through but didn't need to. He cut through at least half of it and it started to fall in Scourge's direction if he hadn't ran around to stand by Silver. By the time Sonic realized he had moved, he was too slow to react. Sonic froze up after regaining his composure on his feet. It was hard to breathe again but the blue hedgehog stood strong, only to look on in horror at the sight of Scourge threatening the only loved one he had left. "D-Don't!" Came the immediate response. "Don't kill him. He's innocent in all of this! I tricked him, you were right. He doesn't deserve this." He tried desperately to reason, his body terribly tense. He was fearful at any second he'd see that gun go off again. Silver: Through the pain came the faint feeling of something being lodged in his head quills. That something was the barrel of the same gun that caused him so much pain. But that was nothing compared to what he heard. An ear twitched as he listened to the other two hedgehogs talking and it felt like his heart was ripped in two. He was...tricked? So everything Sonic told him was a lie? Not only was it heartbreaking but...that would mean that Master was right. He whimpered softly and this new revelation managed to force the tears out. Scourge: Ah, so it looks like he had a little leverage in this situation. The blue hedgehog's heart bled for the white one for whatever reason. He didn't care enough about either of them at this point to look into it. All that mattered was that Sonic wouldn't try to pull a fast one long as he knew that Silver was in danger. A good thing. That meant that he should be able to get them both back to the boat without any further injury. Scourge dug into the interior pockets of his jacket momentarily to pull out a little white plastic box. It was a First Aide Kit. Silver wouldn't make it back to the mainland without this. The box was tossed in Sonic's direction with the hope that he was competent enough to catch it. That was the only one he had on him. By time he went back to the boat for another Silver may have lost too much blood for it to be effective. " Come're and fix him up. " He gestured to Silver with his free hand. Emergency Medical Treatment was not part of the blue hedgehog's formal training so he'd give him a little instruction. Silver would have to be bandaged up with the bullet still in his leg to prevent a dramatic loss of blood. The bandages would have to be tight to prevent the rest from seeping out. What Scourge didn't tell the blue hedgehog was that Silver probably wouldn't get any real medical attention once they were on the mainland. He was just keeping the white hedgehog alive long enough to get his other former slave to do what he wanted. Sonic: Sonic almost dropped the kit once he caught it. He glanced down at it, not expecting Scourge to give in so easily. It seemed he already had some kind of plan in mind. But so long as he was going to let him aid Silver it meant that the green hedgehog didn't have plans to kill him. At least not yet. That was sort of a relief. Sonic rushed over to the white hedgehog and knelt down by him. His ears flattened sympathetically. He worked quickly to try to stop the bleeding. He knew at least that much. To apply pressure and hopefully Silver wouldn't die of blood loss. "Don't worry, Silver. Hang in there." He mumbled quietly, hoping at least the white hedgehog heard him. He had no idea that he'd be willing to believe so easily what he said to Scourge. Sonic would say anything in order to save his life at this point. He trusted Silver knew that. From there, he really wasn't sure what to do though. Maybe Scourge would just shoot him and then carry Silver back. It was hard to say as Scourge's actions thus far had been fairly unpredictable. Silver: By now Silver wasn't worried about the blood loss. It would take some effort on Sonic's part to pry Silver's hands away from his wound. He'd prefer it if nobody but himself touched it, or even looked at it. Blood from a slave was disgusting and shouldn't even be taken care of by other people higher up than them. That's why he retreated slighly when Sonic got close with those bandages. "Sonic..." He whimpered helplessly as his hands were finally pushed away. He needed confirmation. Needed to talk with Sonic in private. Was what he said really true? Was he really tricked? He needed to know but it didn't look like he'd ever get an answer at this rate. With Scourge in charge, there would be no mercy. He was surprised that the green hedgehog was actually allowing this. But he was determined. If they had any time, Silver needed to ask and get some answers. It felt like he was going to die and he needed answers before then. Scourge: Some instruction was given on how to wrap his wound correctly. The step with giving him a painkiller and antiseptic to numb the discomfort was skipped, however, since Scourge felt that Silver deserved it for the moment. Silver was going to be punished just like all the others anyway. This would have been a good place to start. Once the hedgehog who could stand was finished wrapping he gestured for him to stand. " Pick him up. " And carry the one who couldn't. He'd give them about sixty seconds to get situated in their new position before giving another order. " Get walkin'. In front of me. " So the barrel of the gun could be aimed at his back. If they tried to run or did anything funny they wouldn't be getting far. Sonic: Sonic tried not to make eye contact with Scourge during this whole thing. He tried to calm the white hedgehog by petting him a couple of times before his attempts to push his hands away so he can wrap him properly. Once he was able to finish that, he followed Scourge's orders and carefully picked him up. He held him against his chest and turned to head back the way they came. It was going to be quite the challenge for the blue hedgehog who needed carrying himself just moments ago. But he'd strain himself to the max. He wasn't about to drop Silver. Sonic really wasn't sure how to console him at this point. He wanted to but it didn't seem like any good was going to come out of this now. They were both trapped and the best Sonic could do was give him a kiss on the top of the head, at the very least, reassuring him he was there, and that he wasn't alone. Silver: This was too much. Sonic couldn't handle carrying him all the way back to Scourge's ship. But then again, neither of them could at this point. Silver couldn't even walk but he really didn't care. He actually felt like struggling once in Sonic's arms just so he could walk himself. But the soft kiss on the top of his head made him stop. He couldn't even begin to fathom why Sonic had done that but it had the desired effect. He didn't feel exactly secure, what with the gun pointed at the both of them, but he certainly felt a lot more safe. Just knowing he wasn't alone helped Silver more than anything. Another wave of tears fell, more from the realization than the pain, and he nuzzled his cheek into Sonic's chest. Listening to his heartbeat once again, monitering it. Scourge: Scourge was dead-set against carrying either one of them back to the ship. If they couldn't make it then they wouldn't make it. There was no need for him to get blood on his good gloves when he didn't have to! His mind kept bouncing back and forth about what to do with these struggling hedgehogs despite his orders. Should he let his emotions take over and just do what he wanted or should he calm himself and allow this to run its course? It was difficult for a guy who had so little patience but he knew if he held on just a little bit longer it would all be worth it. Out all anyone involved in this incident at least he would be entitled to his happy ending. They were going to see the boat from the beach. It was his personal vacation boat that he had obscured by some rocks out at sea during the actual invasion. He had them bring it in towards the beach during his little break. Similar to the first time the hedgehogs stepped foot on the island they'd have to walk through about an inch of water to reach the gangplank. The lord instructed them to go up to the gangplank where some of the workers on the crew were waiting for them. They were actually watching for the lord to give a specific order. " Separate them." Sonic: By the time they reached the water, his body was screaming at him to stop. Silver would be able to hear that wild heart beat, erratic and none at all peaceful like previous nights he's been able to spend so close to him. Wading through the water would make this even harder. He just had to tell himself that if he had managed to get this far, he could finish. He had to. He was too close to let himself collapse. When they finally got on the boat, Sonic's knees were trembling. Threatening to buckle, he really wished someone would take Silver from his arms so he wouldn't drop him. At the same time, he hated the idea that they were going to be separated. He knew at least that if any one was going to be looked after, it would be the white hedgehog. With Silver on his mind, he really wasn't too concerned with himself just yet. Scourge: A burly attendant was the one who picked up Silver though he was none too gentle about it. Two more reasonably sized crewmen came to either side of Sonic to keep him from falling on his face. They grabbed his upper arms to both hold him up and restrain him until the Lord finished issuing orders. Though they were free they still had to listen to their Lord completely. The young Lord had plenty of time to think about what to do during the walk. " Throw him in the brig. " Since Sonic was so willing to claim responsibility for all of this he'd be treated like the criminal for now. " Make sure to actually restrain him. I don't want him gettin' away -again-. " With a curt and respectful nod the two escorted Sonic down to the brig where he'd be set up in one of the far corners. One end of a short chain attached to the wall was clipped onto his collar. His arms were brought behind his back and shackled together with thick shackles that resembled handcuffs in design. Then his legs were shackled with separate wall shackles to keep him both seated and sprawled slightly. One of the crewmen assured him that they would bring some water to him ... if the Lord allowed it. They knew that the brig could reach temperatures exceeding a hundred degrees on the open sea. Now what to do with Silver. " Lay him down in the lounge. I'll be in shortly. " Silver was going to be given better treatment though not by much. At least he'd have a soft object to lay down on: a couch. Once the crewman laid him down, however, his wrists were brought together and restrained behind his back in a similar way to Sonic's. They wouldn't touch his legs for safety reasons but one more adjustment was made. A fresh pair of those power restraining shackles were applied to his wrists. Sonic: Sonic had no choice but to go with the others. He put their weight all on them. There was no way he could carry himself any further than he has already. He didn't exactly want to hurry himself to the brig either. When he was, he immediately noticed how much hotter it was. The high temperatures kept him panting as he was shackled up. He let himself lean back against the wall as he was bound, looking back at the crewmen and only then realizing how thirsty he was when one of them brought it up. He hoped they could get away with it but he wouldn't bet on any more relief any time soon. It was going to be a long trip back. Silver: He hadn't put up much of a fight when taken away. It wouldn't have made a difference even if he had. He was too weak to cause any real damage anyway. Before he knew it, Silver found himself seated upright on a couch and his arms forcefully cuffed behind his back. He had to gasp softly as the power suppressors went back into place. It had only been a weak but Silver had gotten used to feeling his powers flow through him. The white hedgehog was completely powerless now and the sudden loss of his energy had him nearly pass out. Now what? Scourge had said he'd be in shortly. Silver could guess that nothing good would come out of that conversation. |

OOC: Just an exchange between Silver and Scourge to speed things along. Will get to Blue afterward. Had to get a drink. This time he didn't go for his usual, though. The situation was rather serious so he had to take it seriously. Instead of drinking his usual beer he grabbed a wine cooler from the minibar on deck. And another one for good measure. He didn't want to be blind stinking drunk in fear that he would do something he'd regret later but he still felt that he had to get some liquid courage for this. The first one he grabbed was gone by time he reached the room where Silver had been taken. The sound of glass shattering against the railing of the moving ship was a clear signal of his arrival. He fiddled with the other one briefly in his hands as he entered the room but when he saw Silver's sorry state he slowed to a stop. Well that was depressing. Scourge plopped down on the large armchair opposite of the couch that Silver had been put on. He looked at his former slave briefly before opening the bottle that he brought along with him. " Well ... " Green started before looking down at his drink of choice. Should have shook it first. " - do you have anythin' to say for yourself? |

An ear twitched as he faintly heard the sound of breaking glass. Well that wasn't a good sign. Silver didn't turn to face his past Master once he entered the room, his gaze centered only on the wound on his leg. Though he did catch the faint smell of alcohol, either from the bottle or from the the green hedgehog's breath. Did he have anything to say? No, not really. There wasn't much to be said in the state he was in. What did Scourge expect him to do, beg for mercy? Even if he did he knew Scourge wouldn't do it. The guy probably didn't even know what mercy meant. "...What do you want me to say?" His tone wasn't mocking at all. Only asking a simple question like a good little slave. |

" Not that you're sorry. " Which is what he imagined would be first instinct for someone who got caught. Silver didn't seem to be very 'sorry' anyway since he thought up until they were actually caught that they could get away with this. With betraying him and nearly killing Lord Finitevus. Trying to run away from him and attacking him. Lots of crap, but he was certain that they would do it all again if it meant the chance to be free. " I know that you're not sorry. For whatever reason that was what you wanted. To live out here in the woods with that jackass. " And with that he had to take a drink of his new bottle. He took it down by about a third before settling it between his knees on the edge of the chair. " You know that the penalty for running away from your Master is death, right? I should have killed you both when I had the chance. That bullet in your leg? Should've been your head for runnin' away from me after everything I did for you. Raising you up like I did wasn't cheap. I'll never see that money again. Bought you nice clothes, gave you nice food, sent you to school, took you in vacation ... I didn't have to do none of that but I did because I thought you were somethin' special. " Then he snorted. " I should've known better. Your old Master, the other one, warned me about that crap. " That he shouldn't ever wear his heart on his sleeve for a slave. They weren't capable of showing any real affection towards their Masters. What little emotion they did show was coaxed out of them by training. That was beside the point, though. " It's ultimately the Master's decision whether a slave should die or if they should just be punished as outlined by the Kingdom's law. What you'll tell me right now will decide which one I go for. " Either way Silver wasn't getting out of this unscathed. " So tell me ... did he force you to run away with you? " |

If they were being completely honest, then no, Silver wasn't sorry. He'd gotten to experience so many wonderful things in the short amount of time that he was considered a Free. Getting closer to Sonic was something he'd never regret, even...even if the blue hedgehog really did lie to him. No, he wasn't sorry and never would be. "Yes." Silver knew quite well what the penalty was for a runaway slave. He was honestly surprised that he hadn't been killed yet. It was pure luck that he managed to survive against Finitevus but now he had a feeling he wouldn't be so lucky. Maybe Scourge had missed his head, he did have it buried in his knees before the bullet hit his leg. Yes, that had to be it. Now came the big question. Silver though hard about how he should answer. Should he sell Sonic out? Of course not! "No, he didn't. I followed him. He told me to stay behind." Like Hell he'd tell Scourge that the scenario was in reality the complete opposite and get Sonic into even more trouble. |
