Summary: It's known by most that G.U.N conducts a large range of experiments within its walls, both government approved and not. The scientists have been working on a formula, Project WOLF, which will cause the user to undergo a genetic mutation that will enhance the person's speed, strength and abilities. While his teammates were planning the last battle into Eggman's city, Sonic's been 'chosen' by Commander Towers to be the subject of that experiment, and whether he likes it or not, Shadow is stuck babysitting the new recruit.

Shadow:

Quote:

For perhaps the hundredth time on this mission, Shadow had to wonder what the Hell G.U.N was thinking. The black hedgehog crouched down on the branch of the tree he was hiding in, from where he had a good view of the whole of New Mobotropolis. Whether or not that A.I. had already warned the Princess, he didn't know. But for now it was in and out without being spotted.

Easy enough for the Ultimate Lifeform.

Looking behind him, he guestured for the few soldiers that had been allowed to accompany him to go forward and - using the cloaking device that Hope had invented - they trooped off into the city without a problem.

Now all he had to do was find that blasted blue hedgehog...

Sonic:

Quote:

Perhaps not as difficult a feat as Shadow might have been expecting. Though Sonic was aware of G.U.N.'s apparent interest in him and what he could provide to the agency, he wasn't expecting an assault to further ... convince or negogiate the General's unchanged mind about his feelings for the blue hedgehog.

He had declined invitations before to keep his role as a Freedom Fighter and place amongst his friends and family. If Shadow could stand being their lap dog, that was fine by him; but for Blue, he was much more interested in doing his own thing - though he was known to take orders from time to time.

Even he wasn't completely without order and duty given his rank and The Council's ever watchful eye. Sonic was renowned as a Hero, but was just as much known for his desire to remain free, and keep on the go. As of this moment, a streak of familiar blue was dashing through the city streets in a fresh morning run. Nothing like the wind on his face to wake him up and get him through the day.

Not to mention that addictive adrenaline rush he could never get enough of. His heart was pounding beautifully in his chest as his eyes narrowed in easy focus, not at all limited to the blur of surroundings that seemed to morph into something incomprehensible due to having adjusted to his own high speed races.

Shadow:

Quote:

There he was, running around the city in that same blue streak Shadow had happened across the first time. He narrowed his eyes, poised like a cat about to pounce as he watched the other hedgehog. Sonic might have liked to run free, but that wasn't so for Shadow. He was created as a weapon, as a protector of Mobius and as such had joined G.U.N because of these things. That, and Rouge was there. She was perhaps one of the only ones he could consider his friend aside from Hope.

Murmuring directions into his headset, he leaped down from the branch of the tree he was in. Perhaps he could make a race out of this? Yes, the blue hedgehog would like that, as he seemed to.

Calculating Sonic's next turn, Shadow ran on ahead, just a black streak to the citizens of New Mobotropolis.

Sonic:

Quote:

The last thing he expected was to have a surprise visitor try and challenge him. Shadow knew him perhaps a little too well. He definitely loved a challenge; though he nearly stopped when he realized Shadow was skating up from behind. Sonic wasn't running nearly as fast as he could which gave him ample opportunity to catch up.

"Oi!" Vibrant green eyes flashed with a playful light, wondering Shadow's intentions for being back in New Mobotropolis. "Miss me that much?" It hasn't been too long since the two caught sight of each other and that was in G.U.N.'s last attempt to convince the Hero it was best to be controlled and operated by them. Tch, yeah right.

As curious as he was to hear a real explanation, Sonic could sometimes be childish, and often times impulsive. With a charming wink and smile, the blue hedgehog forced the muscles in his legs to pump faster, lunging him forward in a faster run that actually directed his aim out of New Mobotropolis. He was heading for The Great Forest where he always continued his morning run and made a circle around a particular oak tree before heading back.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow smirked a little - Sonic had fallen for it hook, line and sinker. He pressed a hand to the bluetooth communication device attached to his ear. "All G.U.N units in the immediate vicinity; the blue hedgehog has headed into the Great Forest. Proceed with phase 2 of the mission."

Without waiting for a reply, Shadow promptly began picking up speed. It didn't take him long to circle around the same oak tree that Sonic had, quite nearly drifting due to the speed he was going at and he straightened himself, feeling the cool morning air breeze past him as he ran. He was catching up easily enough, and quite soon he'd be on Sonic's tail.

Sonic

Quote:

Sonic had a keen sense of hearing but over the pounding wind and in his determination to suddenly win this bizarre race Shadow decided to challenge him in, Blue was more focused and intent on getting back to New Mobotropolis before stopping to hear out what the striped hedgehog was doing here. It wouldn't take but another minute given the fact at how fast he was running.

Leaves and branches from trees were rustling and blown in the wake of his fast feet. His spines curved down for a more streamline effect, completely unaware of the other G.U.N. agents. He knew they were desperate, but he had no clue they'd pull a stunt like this. Today was sure to be a lot more interesting than he considered before stepping out of his house this morning.

He could feel Shadow catching up but he didn't slow down. Already he could see the city borders again as he started to re-enter back the way he came.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow frowned when he saw Sonic picking up speed, wondering if perhaps the other hedgehog had heard him on his bluetooth. No matter. Things were proceeding as planned.

Giving himself a little boost, Shadow launched himself into further speed. Reminding himself about what he was doing here, he drifted again, overtaking Sonic and stopping in the entrance to New Mobotropolis that the blue hedgehog had been running for.

"Hello, Sonic."

Sonic:

Quote:

Green eyes widened when Shadow suddenly stopped in front of him. He dug the heels of his sneakers into the earth, digging up dirt and flinging dust all around them. He almost didn't stop in time, but fortunately he had, bringing him about a foot away from his rival. He stared, appearing a tad dumb founded, and wondering if he thought he had just won.

He hadn't officially set a finish line, but he supposed this one would do if not for Shadow's victory. Stepping back to give him a little more personal space, Sonic folded his arms over his heaving, panting chest. Ears laid back casually as he took in the other hedgehog, a smile curving at the corners of his lips in greeting, pointlessly smug as ever. "Nice to see me again? I know. What brings ya here, faker?" A teasing nickname brought to surface every now and then, though normally he let Shadow have the privilage. He didn't believe either circumstance anyway. The two were completely different.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow raised an eyebrow, mimicking Sonic's pose by crossing his arms over his chest and tilting his head. "You know why I'm here, blue hedgehog," he said, pursing his lips together before he frowned. "Honestly, I keep telling the General that you wouldn't be interested but he seems to have this...fascination with you."

Like he'd want to work with Sonic anyway. Though the Hero had from time to time been helpful in situations, he couldn't see himself working with Sonic full time. He'd probably end up killing him given the opportunity. "I don't agree with it, but I'm on orders to take you back with me by force this time."

Sonic:

Quote:

"I do?" Sonic feigned innocence, actually not a hundred percent sure. When he brought up the General, his muscles started to tighten and he grew noticeably tense. It was masked as quickly as his unease settled, letting his arms fall from his chest as one hand caught onto his lithe hip coolly. He looked away, plainly uninterested.

If Shadow didn't like the idea of partnering up with the blue hedgehog now, he might not be fond of the General's idea of how to keep Sonic in line. Considering without the lethal force of actually taking the blue hedgehog out, which would do the world no good at all considering his vital presence that represented as this planet's safety, they had to have a sure fire way to keep Sonic on their side.  The striped hedgehog just might be promoted as babysitter and keeping Sonic on 24 hour survellience, which would only mean he'd get to share living quarters with him as well. Who else could handle him but the Ultimate Lifeform?

"Don't waste your time, Shads." Despite the air of casualty he continued to try to get off, Sonic was more than a little unnerved by his declaration. Looking back at Shadow, he narrowed his eyes in warning, ears drawn back in aggression as his quills tensed up in a flaunting show meant to intimidate. "I'm not interested."

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow considered his options, looking at Sonic's tense form. He shrugged a little, uncrossing his arms. "I'm afraid you leave me little choice then. I was going to be as gentle as possible, but now I see that's not an option." He cracked his knuckles, his ears flattening against his head as it looked like he was about ready to strike. The other G.U.N agents were sneaking up behind the blue  hedgehog, chloroform at the ready. All they were waiting on was a signal.

"He might even give you the option of remaining here in New Mobotropolis if you agree to his proposal," the black hedgehog said, trying one last attempt at negotiating. "So long as you are an agent."

Sonic:

Quote:

"The fact he's willing to force me into something against my will gives me enough reason to stay away from him and the organization. It's not my style; I'm fine where I am." Which meant Shadow's petty attempts to persuade him weren't going to win in either's favor. He did successfully distract him, however. Sonic didn't pick up on the agents cloaked from behind. His hand fell off his hip to ready himself in case the striped hedgehog persisted further. "Step aside."

Shadow:

Quote:

"I'm afraid I'll have to deny your request," Shadow said, toeing the grass with his boot. "I said he wanted you brought in by any means necessary, and I do mean any means necessary." He nodded a little, just a nudge of his head, but it was enough for the agents to take as a signal.

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic furrowed his brows in question when Shadow's attention seemed briefly off of him. He nodded, which was a strange cue, one that wasn't at all meant for him. When he turned his head to see if there was someone behind him he should be aware of, there was in fact agents present he noticed all too late.

There was only a muffled objection as his hands rose to try to pry the offensive hand off of him. Sonic's eyelids drooped as the tips of his ears fell over. His body started to grow slack, gradually losing consciousness against the G.U.N. agents. When it was all said and done, he was left for Shadow to carry. Mission accomplished.

-------------------------------------------------

Shadow:

Quote:

Mission accomplished...yeah right.

Shadow sighed as he leant against the bench, a cup of coffee in his hand. They had managed to get from New Mobotropolis and back without alerting the Freedom Fighters that one of their heroes had been literally kidnapped. The black hedgehog took a sip from his coffee, one leg crossed as he looked at the other who was snoring loudly on the bed nearby.

"I see Sleeping Beauty hasn't woken up yet." The voice made Shadow raise his head, watching Rouge walk into the room with a swish of her hips. The bat raised an eyebrow at Sonic, noticing that the hedgehog's arms and legs were splayed out by metal straps attached to the bed. "I thought the General just wanted to chat with him again?"

"Precautions," was all Shadow said as he drank another mouthful of coffee. A noise came from the other hedgehog and he straightened himself, placing his mug on the bench before turning to Rouge. "Go get the General."

"Will do." Rouge gave a mock salute to her team leader and walked back out the door again.

Maybe chains and shackles that allowed Sonic some dignity might have been more appropriate. He certainly wasn't going to be in the mood to chat being as confined as he was. Sonic had a thing for being restrained, that simply being he couldn't stand it.

Sonic:

Quote:

By the time the General would come in, however, Sonic would be awake. When he first stirred, his head rolling to the left and awareness gradually coming back to his senses, he had forgotten the altercation he had with Shadow. Only until after he opened his eyes did he realize something had went wrong somewhere.

He didn't remember the agents jumping him but he did recall why he was here. Panic briefly crossed those green eyes when he tried to sit up only to find he couldn't. He pulled his binds taut in the effort to break loose only to no avail. Narrowing his eyes as his muscles tightened in tension, he glared at the only other present in the room before the General.

"This is so not cool."

General:

Quote:

"Please let me offer my apologies first of all, Sonic," the General said, hands clasped behind his back. Shadow continued to lean against the bench on the other side of the room, eyes closed as he drank from his cup of coffee. "I will release you from the restraints...if you promise to behave, that is."

Sonic:

Quote:

A mean smirk gave him away before he could even answer. "Of course." Perhaps he needed to practice on his acting. Sonic was so tense though, it was hard not to let his temper get the best of him, usually something he could accomplish fairly easily. He was more annoyed actually that the General actually had the nerve to take him like this.

Even more-so angry at Shadow for being the one that set him up.

General:

Quote:

"If anything I do believe that Shadow here is enough to restrain you if necessary," the General replied, nodding to the black hedgehog. Shadow put his coffee mug down on the bench and leant away from it, walking over to the bed and undoing the first restraint. "Now, have you considered my offer from last time? I'm willing to negotiate..."

Sonic:

Quote:

"No." Sonic cut him off before he could even start his last sentence. He paid more mind to Shadow at that point as he worked on taking off the restraints. The second they were off, he'd sit upright, but not make the effort to flee just yet. The General was right about one thing. The Ultimate Lifeform would be an unfortunate obstacle to try to go around/

The two were often matched in anything they did, but whereas he might have Shadow beat in agility, Stripes could overpower him in strength. Sonic was never good with close proximity combat; he relied on his speed and distant attacks to best get the upper hand over his opponents. This small room hardly gave him the opportunity to use any of that.

General:

Quote:

The General blinked at the prompt reply as Shadow released the last of the restraints before stepping back from the bed. "Well, as I said, I'm willing to negotiate," the human continued, nodding to the black hedgehog in thanks. "I know you like to run free, Sonic, which is why I'm offering you to be a free agent for G.U.N. What that means is, you'll take missions from us but be allowed to roam wherever you want. The only condition is that you take Shadow as your partner."

Sonic:

Quote:

His arms crossed over his chest, still not looking that interested. "I'd be much more apt to hear you out if not for my abduction." That was quite uncalled for. Did they want to get a war going between them and the royalty in New Mobotropolis?   "You have the emohog working for ya. What do you need me for?" Shadow was more than enough to run errands for these guys. He didn't get what other motive there was to pursuing him as intently as they have been. Sonic was more than willing to help anyone that needed it, but there just wasn't something right with the business the General started with him. A free agent? Might be alright, but he didn't like the idea of being monitored; and who knows how many missions he'd have to go on?

He imagined it interfering with his work as a Freedom Fighter which would make him quite a busy person. "I'm already a Freedom Fighter. I work for someone else." And glancing at Shadow in question, he snorted, unable to resort back to his own teasing nature, "And he would so cramp my style."

Shadow

Quote:

Shadow resisted retorting back at the blue hedgehog in front of the General. Instead he crossed his arms over his chest as he regarded Sonic. "As I said before, I argued with the General about abducting you, but the General's word is above mine, so the plan went through," he said, raising an eyebrow at the human who looked away as though he hadn't heard anything. "Other than that, the missions would not interfere with your freedom fighting work, mostly."

General:

Quote:

"Shadow is correct," the General said, looking back to the two hedgehogs and clasping his hands behind his back again. "We've been working on something here at HQ that we believe would help you in your fight with Eggman. Something only you would be able to use efficiently enough."

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic sighed, not enjoying this man's persistence, or Shadow's willingness to go along with it, despite the fact he was of a lower status. He distracted himself by acting out his frustrations in a rather subtle action. Scratching the tip of his nose with his middle finger. "Oh?" He grunted at the General, sounding hardly curious. He wasn't even looking at him at this point.

But at least he wasn't trying to leave. He'd hear them out at the very least, but had every intention of doing his own thing. That just meant a lot of work for Shadow in the future.

General

Quote:

"Yes." Did this guy even understand sarcasm? Shadow rolled his eyes at both Sonic's childish behaviour and the General's ignorance. "We've been experimenting on this for some time. A genetic mutation that enhances the person's speed, strength and abilities. Shadow volunteered to be the test subject for Project WOLF, and so far there have not been any negative side effects."

Sonic:

Quote:

"Project WOLF?" Sonic lowered his hand, finding this ... a little interesting. But he wasn't so thrilled about jumping into some kind of crazy experiment. He thought he was good at what he did already. At the same time, his heroic instincts were starting to stir to life. "If there hasn't been any negative side effects, why hasn't Shadow done it yet?" He glanced over at the hedgehog in question.

As if he wasn't already a genetic mutation - spawned from alien, no less.

Shadow:

Quote:

"My Black Arms DNA does not agree with the experiment," Shadow said, looking off to the side with a hand on his hip. "We believe that only a full Mobian would be able to handle the...changes that happen."

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic arched a brow, weighing the risks involved with this already in his serious consideration. He seemed almost more willing to hear and do this than actually admit to becoming a G.U.N. agent for these guys. If it'd help the people of New Mobotropolis, heck, the world - then maybe it was something he should try. "Ah... may look into it."

General

Quote:

"Certainly." The General nodded his consent, while Shadow smiled a little to himself. He should have known that telling Sonic of something that could possibly help the world would get him willing to help them. "If you'll follow us to the labs...?"

Sonic:

Quote:

His ears lowered back, rethinking this briefly, before hopping off the bed and on his feet. He nodded, regaining his over-confidence exterior; he supposed if anyone was suited for this, it'd be him. He gestured for him to lead. "After you." The smile that dawned his features this time was more mocking than anything. He was not fond of the overlander and his way of dealing with things, and he still felt a mild resentment at Shadow. Nevertheless, it seems Blue was finally starting to cooperate

General:

Quote:

The General tilted his head in acknowledgement of Sonic's willingness, then nodded to Shadow. The black hedgehog stepped up behind Sonic and the General began leading them out of the room and down the hall, Shadow bringing up the rear just incase Sonic decided to try to escape.

The pathway to the laboratory was a long one, but one the General knew off by heart. Swiping his I.D. card, the human pushed the door open, holding it open for the two Mobians before letting it close with a click. "Welcome to the labs."

Sonic:

Quote:

An ear flicked back in Shadow's direction. Sonic's quills still remained up, this time more in a gesture to show off his own physique in alarm for another, he wasn't going to be an easy opponent if he did decide to run. Fortunately he didn't.

After the General swiped his I.D., he stepped into the labs and got a look around, finding himself growing swiftly impatient. He wasn't a scientist in the making, and none of this interested him but the experiment at hand. He wanted to get it over with.

General:

Quote:

Once inside the labs, the General led the two hedgehogs over to a bench where he picked up a set of pills, turning around to face Sonic. "These are the end results of Project WOLF," he began, showing the red and white tablets to the Hero. "Just one will give you the strength of 10,000 men and the additional speed of a cheetah."

Sonic:

Quote:

Somehow he was thinking he'd have to be put through something more ... spectacular. Shown pills, Sonic was surprised. All he had to do was take one? "No sweat." Though the agility aspect left him none impressed, his strength would be a serious challenge for Shadow. He reached a hand out, waiting impatiently for him to open the bottle and give him one.

General:

Quote:

With a raise of his eyebrow, the General opened the bottle and dug around inside it before handing one to the hedgehog. "I should warn you that there could be mutation side effects."

Sonic:

Quote:

"I wouldn't do that now, dude. Wouldn't want me to back out, would ya?" Sonic was aware that something could go wrong but he tried not to think about it. Otherwise, how else was this going to get done? There were risks involved with everything.

Looking at the pill he held between his gloved finger and thumb, Sonic took a breath and cleared his head. No going back once he got it laying on his tongue. With a quick swallow, it was all over. Becoming tense and unsure as to what to expect, Sonic prepared himself for anything. But ... nothing happened. Huh.

Scientist:

Quote:

"Agent Shadow, Sir, if I may speak with you..." A scientist that had been working nearby motioned him to come over before he could speak with him in private while leaving the General with Sonic. "Sir, I understand you are aware that Project WOLF may have side effects. The General wanted me to warn you that it is a certainty."

That's right. They knew exactly what would happen and the General was already aware. "After the transformation tonight, the subject will be prone to limited understanding and disorientation. With time, it will be able to think rationally like the original host. But only through strict discipline and training."

In other words, Shadow was going to have his hands full.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow raised an eyebrow at the information the soldier was telling him, crossing his arms over his chest. He was fully aware of the circumstances that might come to one who had one of the Project WOLF pills. Because he was a full Mobian, Sonic would be more than likely to go through those changes than he had. After all, all that Shadow had felt the night after taking one of the pills was the urge to howl at the moon. "Thank you. I will keep that in mind."

He gave a curt salute to the scientist and returned to where the General and Sonic stood, the human tapping his chin. "That is strange...Shadow, I want you to accompany Sonic back to New Mobotropolis and keep an eye on him."

Sonic:

Quote:

The overlander had nothing to further discuss since Shadow fully understood his new assignment. If Sonic knew that there was a guarantee of what he could turn into, he wouldn't have been nearly as eager to jump into this. He was used to taking a chance on something he thought could lead to bigger and greater things.

Even this might turn out to be a blessing. Wasn't sure yet. Sonic didn't even feel any different than he had before and was rather confused about this as the General. Maybe it just took some time? "Or we could hang out at your place. I like that idea better." Sonic smirked at Shadow, leaving little room for objection.

There was a reason behind his odd request. Since he didn't know what he'd expect to turn into, he didn't want to bring that problem home. He still lived with his parents too, for crying out loud, and he didn't need his mom telling him stories about when he was a 'chubby' kid to his rival.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow blinked at the odd request, pursing his lips together before he nodded his consent. "I will accept those terms on the condition that you pick up after yourself. I've seen your room at home, blue hedgehog. I know what kind of mess you can make." That, and Shadow wasn't going to admit it but he was obsessive compulsive with keeping things clean and in order.

"Then it's settled." The General smiled slightly, placing a hand on both hedgehog's shoulders. "I'll have Rouge on standby in case anything happens."

Shadow closed his eyes, brushing off the General's hand. "Please. I'm the Ultimate Lifeform. I can handle this."

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic dipped himself lower to sneak out from under the General's hand, uncaring about making a show or not for his distaste for the contact. He dusted himself off needlessly as the overlander spoke to Shadow, snorting at the hedgehog's comeback.

"So long as you try something underhanded." Unfairness was the only way Shadow was able to get him before; he distracted him while he got jumped. So uncool. He smirked back at the other hedgehog, cocky and confident that he was still a match for Shadow, even if he hadn't taken this booster that'll do ... who-knows-what in the long run.

Shadow:

Quote:

"I'll admit that it was a cheap shot, but the next race will be fair and square," Shadow said, looking at the General with a raised eyebrow before turning and walking out of the room, stopping short of the doorway. "Come. We're going."

Sonic:

Quote:

"Yeah, yeah." Sonic may have lagged a moment but caught up with Shadow to follow alongside him once they stepped out of the doorway. "So where do you live now anyway?" It was often he moved around a lot depending on his next mission. At least, that's how he saw it; he may have a main location for his resting quarters but who knows?

Shadow:

Quote:

Using his I.D. card, Shadow swiped it through the checker and entered a pin number, opening the door to the outside. There, they exited the building into an underground carpark.

Sonic:

Quote:

Station Square? Hadn't lounged around that area lately. In fact, he normally didn't come to overlander territory at all. And for good reason. Not everyone was accepting; and Sonic had always been busy with other things. Lately, however, there seemed to be lack of villainous activity. A good thing for the citizen's of Mobius, but it didn't seem like he was going to be going on vacation any time soon. In fact, he was already preparing for when Eggman, or whatever Badnik decides to do something uncool, he'd be there to handle it. Let's just hope this works!

He moved to once again walk alongside Shadow as they got outside, taking in the fresh air. He might have even offered to race again if he knew where Shadow's place was.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow had a hand to his chin in thought, wondering perhaps what sort of side effects Project WOLF might give Sonic. It was undeniable that there was something about the blue hedgehog that seemed...off slightly. No matter. He should really deal with it when the time came. Instead, he sighed, turning his attention to Sonic. "Did you want to get something to eat?"

Sonic:

Quote:

"You're going to buy me breakfast? Sounds good to me." Though he didn't actually suggest on doing such a generous deed, Sonic didn't exactly have the money on him anyway. He wasn't exactly getting any sort of income. But considering whether or not he stuck by being this G.U.N. agent, he may just get a steady paycheck to take care of that.

Slipping an arm around Shadow's shoulders casually, he leaned in -- in a friendly gesture, of course. "Where to, bud?"

-------------------------------------------------

Shadow:

Quote:

The day had been long, and annoying on Shadow's side of things. The black hedgehog leaned against a wall, and pulled back the cuff of his glove to look at the watch around his wrist. "5:50pm," he said. They were back on G.U.N grounds, for citizen safety reasons as he decided it was best for Sonic's first possible transformation to be here, rather than anywhere else. He looked at the blue hedgehog, raising a brow. "Feel any different?"

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic looked bored. He knew something was supposed to happen, but the anxiety has already warn off, especially after having eaten so many of his favorite foods today. ...Not saying he took advantage of Shadow's salary or anything, but his stomach did look a little more extended than usual...  Rubbing his peach fuzz stomach, he shrugged his shoulders casually. He thought he might have gas, but that was about it. "Maybe it won't work?" Why it wouldn't would be a mystery, but it was getting pretty late in the evening, and he didn't feel at all different than usual.

Shadow:

Quote:

The sun was slowly setting, casting a redish-orange glow over the compound. Looking towards the horizon, Shadow shielded his eyes from the sun before turning his attention back to his blue companion. "According to G.U.N's scientists, whatever happens is supposed to happen after the sun goes down. It's not down fully yet...I estimate about another ten to fifteen minutes before the sky darkens." He crossed his arms over his chest, frowning a little. He...didn't have a good feeling about this.

Sonic:

Quote:

Sonic didn't look at all concerned. He had all day to adjust to this idea, and until he actually started to feel something, he wasn't going to sweat it. Hands behind his head casually, he sighed, beginning to pace from boredom alone. He'd much rather go for a run than just stay put and wait for 'it' to happen. "Great. That'll fly by, considering how much of a chatter box you are." He teased, smirking back at him, but meaning the sarcasm behind his tone. He was bored, and Shadow wasn't very thrilling unless the two were in action against something resulting in conflict.

Shadow:

Quote:

Shadow stared at Sonic for a moment. While he wasn't unfamiliar with Blue's jibes, he had to admit that he himself was getting bored. Leaning away from the wall, he scuffed the toe of a shoe against the ground, uncrossing his arms. "We could make the time go by faster if you want." He was suggesting a battle or something. Sonic was really one of the only ones he felt could keep up with him.

Sonic:

Quote:

He gave him a funny look. He finally stopped walking and let his hands fall back down to his sides. "Ah, well..." Sonic seemed to be considering as he waltzed up to Shadow, pursing his lips in thought. Unfortunately for him, he may not have gathered what exactly Sonic was thinking until he actually said something.  "Nope. Just not my type. Sorry." He flashed an apologetic smile, all in good fun. Sonic couldn't have been serious, right? Just what did he think Shadow meant?!

Shadow:

Quote:

Sonic's wisecrack fell on a deadpan expression. Shadow raised an eyebrow, his foot slowly starting to tap against the concrete in a mockery of his blue rival's signature pose. "I meant we could exercise our anticipation with a friendly competition," the black hedgehog replied, not in the least amused by Sonic's words. He turned his head away, rolling his eyes. "As if I'd sleep with you."

He chuckled, finding his own antics rather amusing, but especially Shadow's reaction. "Of course ya would. Who wouldn't?" A friendly slap on the back, while mindful of those quills, and Sonic was more than willing to take up his real offer. "Alright, alright. All jokes aside, what did you have in mind, exactly?"

Shadow tilted his head in consideration, crossing his arms over his chest. They were in G.U.N's headquarters after all... Closing his eyes as he thought things over, the black hedgehog looked at Sonic as he came to his decision. "A race around the base, with this spot as a starting point. Best two out of three."

Sonic:

A race was always fun, and never something he could turn down so easily. He smiled, beaming with pride. He already appeared to know who was going to win. Stretching out a leg, he put his hands against his thigh and knee to help work it out before a good run. He switched sides a few seconds later to do the other.  "No sweat. I'll try to go easy on ya." He smirked, straightening up once he was finished.

He waited for Sonic to finish with his stretches, arms still crossed over his chest. When the blue hedgehog was done, Shadow paused, wondering what would make things more interesting before smirking. "Any and all shortcuts through hallways around the base are optional." He did, after all, know his way around G.U.N better than Sonic did. Tapping the toe of his shoe against the concrete, Shadow raised an eyebrow before taking off.

Sonic was of course aware of how much more knowledge Shadow had of the base than him. That seemed downright unfair as he gave him a rather flat look at the suggestion. "Yeah, yeah, use what advantage you can, Shads, I'm still going to make this rough for ya." Little did he know how honest he was about to be ...  As Shadow took off without even a countdown to start their race, the blue hedgehog immediately kicked off with his right foot to chase after him. He didn't know any shortcuts, actually. Trying to think, he was running a lot faster than he could decide on whether or not to go one way or the other. At the very least, he foresaw Shadow winning this first race.

However, it appeared that he might not even finish ... Half way through, Sonic slammed on his brakes, coming to an abrupt stop as he felt this churning in his stomach. A very sharp pang that made him feel sick. A hand grabbed at his peach belly, trying to suppress whatever was hoping to come up. Fortunately, he didn't leave a mess, but the sensation spread, and his arms and legs felt like pins and needles. His knees buckled and he fell to his hands and knees, eyes widening before clenching shut.

"Sh-Shadow...!" He tried to bark out, loud enough for him to hear him. His voice morphed half way into a feral growl in pain and a sudden rush of power. It was incredible and agonizing at the same time. This had to be it...! Sonic's blue coat started to grow longer and change into a darker hue with light tipped quills. His ears became more pointed and his canines grew much larger. Sonic huffed, chest heaving out as the transformation neared completion, completely altering the docile looking hedgehog into a beast much more fearful ...

Shadow was only a few clicks ahead when he heard Sonic call out to him, about to take a turn into the base for a shortcut. He skidded to a stop, knowing that Blue wouldn't stop the race unless it was something really important. Whatever was supposed to happen with Project WOLF must have started! The black hedgehog turned around, about to call back when he noticed the transformation taking place, his ears pinning back to his head when he saw what was happening. "Oh shit..." were the words that left his mouth, so quiet that he was even unaware that he'd spoken them.

Sonic grunted and growled, trying to compose himself and adjust to this new feeling, and body. He stood shakily on all fours, grinding his sharp teeth together. The addictive feeling of such an added boost of power made him antsy. A primal urge to fight and eat was hard to ignore. He didn't even notice Shadow though until he whispered something. Something faint, but those keen ears could easily pick up on. Eyes locked onto his would-be prey as his spines rose like hackles, aggressively, as he bore his fangs. Fortunately for the black hedgehog, speed was no longer on Sonic's side. But strength was another thing entirely...

Shadow:

Shadow's ruby eyes were wide, feeling himself become rooted in the spot when he met Sonic's gaze. Primal power sat in those eyes, Shadow knew. He could see it in the muscles rippling along Sonic's previously frail body. Pulling back the cuff of his glove, Shadow spoke into the communicator wrapped around his wrist, taking a few steps back for every one that Sonic took forward. "This is Shadow the Hedgehog. I need back up. Project WOLF is a success. Sonic the Hedghog needs to be contained. Repeat; needs to be contained." After saying where they were, he let his cuff move back over the communicator, taking another step back as he eyed the hedgehog...or would that be werehog? "Calm down, Sonic..."

Sonic:

His tail, which had grew longer in length, wagged considerately behind him. It wasn't happy, but more like a cat would do right before it was about to pounce. Whatever Shadow was saying didn't at all seem interesting. He could tell he was nervous. Fearful might not be the case, but he still fed on Shadow's anxiousness; and had no intention of listening.  His mouth opened as if to show off what he had gained from such a twisted experiment. Ears pinned as his pupils became enlarged as he focused. In a second, he was making the first move.

But it might not have been what he expected.

Instead of lunging out at him, Sonic only rose one paw to swipe. However, it might have seemed like a foolish move to make sense he wasn't close enough -- or was he? His arm seemed to be able to extend larger than what appeared possible. Those claws were aiming to dig right into his side to drag him closer.

Shadow:

He knew that words might hold no meaning to the other hedgehog anymore. Shadow's eyes widened when Sonic's arm seemed to stretch out, one paw wrapping around his waist and pulling him closer. He winced when he felt claws digging into his side, a grunt leaving the back of his throat as the arm pulled him back to Sonic. Shadow stayed perfectly still, feeling warm breath ghost over his face as he stared up at Blue.

His hot breath bat against Shadow's face as he leaned in. He held onto him tight with the hand he used to pull him over. His other grabbed onto his arm to hold him tight, ensuring he wouldn't get away. He might be able to feel the Chaos energy radiating from him, proving just how much more strength he gained from the experiment. The important question now was ... what was he going to do with it?

Opening his jaws, he went in for the kill, latching his jaws onto Shadow's shoulder to sink his teeth into, adoring the taste of blood on his tongue.

I can has evil plan?

Shadow hissed, his ears flattening against his head as his shoulder was bitten. That fucking hurt. Where the hell was his backup? The black hedgehog gritted his teeth, his eyes narrowing at Blue as blood began to trickle down his shoulder.

"Let. Me. Go," was the order. Shadow's voice was cold and commanding, hoping that something in his tone would get through to the mutated hedgehog.

He was going to give Sonic ten seconds before he decided to Chaos Control out of his hold.

Ten seconds? Might want to count really fast. Sonic didn't seem to be paying attention to Shadow's tone at all. As far as he was concerned, he was his prey now, trapped between very strong jaws that only seemed to tighten at his demand.

Then, a pause, and his head began to turn and shake. That only meant one thing. He was trying to sever a good portion of his shoulder to actually devour!
