Midnight Express Trading Rules
The rules for trading, buying and selling on Midnight Express Forums.

Please take a few minutes to read through these rules. This will help you know what is expected of you in this forum and help you to become a trustworthy and respectable trader.

--------

Welcome to the Trading Corner Forum!

The Trading Corner section of Midnight Express Forums is where members may make a trade thread, which is simply defined as a list of your wanted cards as well as a list of your cards available for trade. From there, other traders may make offers in your thread and you may browse other trade threads to make offers.

The Auction House is a place where only Verified Sellers can set up selling shops. Be sure to browse through their shop and see what they might have! Many sell more than cards!

The Trader Reputations sub-forum is where all feedback is left for traders and sellers. You must have a trade reputation thread to trade.

This forum is a great place to find cards/items you need or want. However, make sure you read this thread first to make sure you don't break any rules and you fully understand what is expected of you. We have zero tolerance for traders who don't read the rules. With that said, please make sure to take 10 minutes of your time before making a trade thread and read through the rules in this thread!

General Trading Rules
These are the general rules for the Trading Corner forum.

1. All Standard Midnight Express rules apply. Read them here. This includes bumping threads without a new post for two weeks or more, and spamming in another user's trade thread.

2. You are only permitted to have one open trade thread in the Trading Corner. Contact a moderator or trade moderator to have them lock the thread that you no longer need or use. If you want to create a whole new thread, you should contact a moderator or trade moderator and ask them to close your old thread first!

3. You must have your country in the first line of your trade thread, and in your user profile under "location". It has to be in those two places when you make your new trade thread. (You will receive a reminder via PM if you are a new trader and it is not in your trade thread or profile.) Please DO not edit them out, or you will be warned. All users with trade threads open should have their country listed in the first line of their trade thread and in their user profile under "location".

4. You may bump your trade thread once per day, and 4 times total a week. Saying "I pmed you." or "Update!" both count as bumps. Deleting a post and replacing it with “bump” or anything that qualifies as a bump counts as two bumps (one for the deleted post, and one for the new post). If you are caught abusing the bump system, you will receive a warning; If caught abusing more than once, a temporary ban will be given. A week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday.

5. Only list cards that you have in hand and available for trade. Listing cards that are decked, incoming, outgoing, or not for trade is not allowed, and will result in a warning.

6. Do not post addresses in public threads. Make sure you exchange addresses by PM ONLY. However, if you or someone else has been ripped by a trader, make sure a trade council member gets the address of that ripper immediately by PMing it to one of them. (if you have it.)

7. If you get a negative reference for a valid reason, (as decided by the trade moderators) you will receive a 3-day ban. If you get 3 negative references total, you will be permanently banned from trading.

8. To trade or sell on this forum, you must have your PM's enabled. Do not block them.

9. "Ripping" is defined as stealing someone's cards, money or other items. Basically, receiving their end of the trade and not sending yours out. Ripping someone off will produce some very unfortunate events for you. A permanent IP ban from the site and/or mail fraud being filed. Mail fraud can be filed by anyone that trades with you. If you rip them off, they have the right to file with the postal service. Mail fraud is nothing to play with, you or your parents could face a fine. It should be a no-brainer: To avoid being suspected of ripping, send your end of the trade out as soon as possible!

If you suspect anyone of being a ripper on this site, (especially if they came here from another site), please contact a member of the Trading staff. For traders who want to file mail fraud against a ripper, you can do so here.

10. Tangible items such as TCG, merchandise, etc. may not be traded for other video game data. Video game data may not be sold either. Anyone caught doing this will be temporarily banned. Only ACTUAL in hand video games may be traded or sold here.

11. Please do not disappear from the forums if you are trading with someone! It is not okay to organize a trade with someone, and then not be online for a week. Do not make people worry about you! Make sure you are available to the people you are trading with. You may do this through Midnight Express, AIM, MSN, email, etc. But please make sure the person you're trading with knows how to reach you.

12. Please report everything wrong. Everything. A few examples...

Report a trader you think is suspicious.
Report anyone offering to sell without being a verified seller by using the "report" button. You CANNOT buy from someone on this forum that is not a verified seller.
Report anyone breaking any other rules, or anything you feel is wrong. Use the "report" button or PM me!

Do not wait too long to report ANYTHING. Reporting soon enough sometimes makes all the difference.

Other Trading Rules

1. You are not forced to trade with anyone. All trades are made at your own risk, and you are allowed to turn down traders if you are worried about getting ripped off. Never let a user force you into making a trade that you do not want to make.

2. The reference rule is followed here. The member with the lowest number of refs sends first, and when the person with higher amount of refs receives, they are expected to send their half of the deal in a prompt manner. The only way this is different is if the person with higher refs says otherwise, or if money is involved. If money is involved, the buyer always sends payment first.

3. YOU and you alone are responsible for making the other trader satisfied with their end of the trade. If cards get lost or heavily damaged (beyond use) in the mail, you are required to replace them. If you send your cards in between cardboard, and they get bent, you are to replace them. To ensure that things like this do not happen, it is highly recommended that you put your cards in a card sleeve, and then in a toploader (a hard plastic card cover) before sending. Bubble wrap, and other protective shipping materials may be used, but it is your job to make sure they get the cards safe! So that lost mail doesn't happen, you may want to put delivery confirmation on the package, so that you can give a tracking number. Also, insurance may be used to insure the item in case it becomes damaged.

4. A trade is finalized when BOTH addresses have been exchanged. If you back out after you have both exchanged addresses, you get negative reference and warning. When you exchange your addresses, consider it you signing a contract saying that you will complete the trade. Please do not back out of finalized trades.

5. Time frames for completing trades: The list below shows the maximum amount of time a trade should take. Any trades that go past this time from now on will most likely result in a temporary ban for the person holding up the trade.

Trades within the United States, or between the United States and Canada or Mexico: 2 weeks max. That's 14 days, more than enough time.
Trades overseas: 18 days max.

To prevent any action being taken against you, send as soon as you can. It's the best way to prevent running into trouble.

6. "Backing out" or "Not sending":

a. "Backing out" of a trade is where both people have exchanged addresses, and then one trader decides for some reason they don't want to trade anymore. If you are caught doing this, it's a negative reference and a warning. If done a second or third time a ban may occur. Backing out is very rude. When you agree to a trade, another trader is setting their cards aside for you, and waiting to send them out. Or in some cases, they may have already sent them, and you may have to send back. This is a very annoying ordeal to have to go through. So ask yourself before you confirm a trade with someone: "Do I really want to trade for this, and am I going to complete this trade?"

b. "Not sending" - If it is decided a trader is to send first in a trade, they should send within a weeks time. If you receive someone's end, you should send your end of the trade as soon as possible. If it takes longer than two weeks for you to send out, you may be temporarily banned, or permanently banned. (depending on if this involves stealing or "a rip".) If something is preventing you from sending, please PM a trade council member and we will try to work with you.

The point is, send your trades out as soon as possible, and don't back out of trades. This will help you to become a trusted trader/buyer/seller on our forums.

Buying/Selling Rules

In order to sell, you need to be approved by the Midnight Express staff. See The Mightnight Express Verified Sellers Thread. You may NOT sell on Midnight Express without being approved as a Verified Seller first. You may be temporarily banned if you offer/try to sell without being verified.

For the complete list of our buying and selling policies, please read this thread.

Reference Rules

1. You MUST have a trading reference thread to trade! There is a Trade Reputation sub-forum for trade refs. There should be a thread there with your username as the title and your country in the first post. This is where people will leave references for you.

2. When leaving a reference for someone, please reply to their reference topic with something like this:
"Great trader! Sent cards fast and well protected! +1 ref!" or "Ripper. It's been 4 weeks since I sent my cards. User has confirmed getting my cards and isn't answering PMs. -1"

Something like this will give us an idea about the trader, and let others know what kind of trader they are dealing with. We need a reason for the ref and if there are any discrepancies we may be able to resolve the issue. Let us know in that thread. See rule #5 for more.

3. If you have traded with a user in person, the ref does NOT count. So, do not leave in-person references. This also means trading with your brothers or sisters, those refs do not count and will be deleted.

4. References from other sites do not count. This is not Pojo, ETC, TCGplayer, etc. This is Midnight Express, and only Midnight references count.

5. If you feel that you have been ripped off by a user (or a user did not send after you both confirmed the trade), please report them to me via PM with details of the trade (no addresses please) and we will take care of it. You may not leave negative references if you do not send a report. If you leave a negative ref, and did not report it first, it will be deleted and you will be warned. Notify the Trade Moderators first.

7. Leaving Negative or Neutral references: You may leave a negative (-1) for: Cards in terrible condition (It is requested you take pictures.), backing out of a trade after both addresses were exchanged, or being ripped. You may not leave a negative just because someone left you one.

You may leave a neutral (+0) for: taking longer than 2 weeks to send in the US and 18 days international (if no cards were lost), and other bad experiences (with valid reasons approved by the Trade Moderators).

If you are unsure of what type of reference you should leave, ask a member of the Trading Moderator. (see next post.)

8. Leave refs in a timely manner. Nobody likes to be forgotten about. Make an effort to leave a ref within a week of receipt of your cards.
