So it's been almost 6 months since I've started playing U/W (Caw Blade obv), and I'm getting a little bored of standard. Sure it's a great format, a favorite of mine, but I feel like getting into something new, so I started looking at some legacy decks that topped in last 2 months. I found this: 4 Forest 4 Wild Growth 2 Plains 1 Blood Moon 1 Sigil of the Empty Throne 4 Utopia Sprawl 2 Horizon Canopy 4 Sterling Grove 3 Solitary Confinement 1 Moat 1 Karakas 1 Oblivion Ring 1 Enlightened Tutor 3 Chrome Mox 1 Words of War 4 Windswept Heath 4 Enchantress's Presence 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn 2 Runed Halo 2 Savannah 1 Taiga 2 Replenish 4 Argothian Enchantress 2 Serra's Sanctum 1 City of Solitude 3 Elephant Grass 1 Misty Rainforest 1 Verdant Catacombs // Sideboard: SB: 4 Leyline of Sanctity SB: 1 Enlightened Tutor SB: 2 Runed Halo SB: 2 Wheel of Sun and Moon SB: 1 Pithing Needle SB: 1 Humility SB: 1 Choke SB: 1 Replenish SB: 2 City of Solitude It's an enchantress deck, based on a huge amount of enchantments, and in my opinion really powerful. It has the ability to shut down any combination of cards or creature attacks while constantly drawing cards and gaining advantage. Emrakul is just one of many ways the deck can win. At first sight the deck is quite expensive, while counting everything it went about just over 1000$ USD, BUT no fear, we can skip the expensive duals and replace them with standard legal fetch lands or regular duals. Sure the deck looses a lot of balance and consistency, but still, for someone who’s just getting started its fine in my opinion. The one card I was disappointed in was Moat. Don't get me wrong, it's a great card, and a major component to the deck, but it's price is nearly 230-300$ USD at the moment, and that's alot for just one card, if you're just getting started that is. Legacy has 2500$ USD cards, just to let you know. After a little thought I came to a conclusion that without the expensive dual the deck is worth overall 700$ USD. I think I'm going to take a shot during summer and build this deck to see how good it is, and discover it's hidden potential. What do you guys think about this deck? Is it good? Bad? Why? Share your opinion about this with me. GP Prague was a blast, at least that's what I've been told by my friends, who went there. I couldn't go due to my exams and work. The format was sealed deck and booster draft, and one of my friends had 3 byes in the GP. He went 7-2 on day, just barely making day two. I really wanted him to top8, and he went 3-0 in the first draft. He went 2-1 in the second draft, loosing the feature match. He took 14th place, and won 500$ and a qualifier for a PT (Philly), format: extended. I saw the sealed & draft decks he played with, there were no broken cards, so he took all games by skill. In the last two months I haven't lost a tournament with my U/W Caw Blade, I have my own little twists there, so it's not just an ordinary Caw Blade deck. I play 3 Condemns mained since GP Barcelona, still main 4 Wraths and 3 Gideons. I'm about to test into the roil in place of mana leak and I play no spells pieces, they are side boarded for mirror matches. Valakut is an easy opponent even with all those cards mained, with the help of Batterskull(now a must in Caw Blade) it easily defeats aggro decks & wrecks Valakut. |

The Savannah and Taiga are basically needed. If you don't want to drop the money on those at least go with Shock Lands from Ravnica block. I've played against the deck and watched the deck played a lot and I can tell you it's not something you just pick up and play and win with, it actually takes some getting used to. As well, Moat is really a key card, I mean, you could use Teferi's Moat or more Ghostly Prison/Propaganda/Elephant Grass in it's place but it just wouldn't be the same. As well the Chrome Mox's aren't really -that- necessary and you could probably get by on using another land + more tech. I never said that it's something skill-less, I just saw the deck and fell in love with it at first sight) Also , yeah , Moat is a key card in the deck, and I will surely add some tech and test it out when I have the time, right now it's exam time, so I'm gonna be pretty busy. Keep an eye out for my Step-by-step Caw Blade article that I'm going to post soon. |

I never said you did, I was basically saying make sure you understand how the deck fairs against other decks before picking it up and playing it. I mean, honestly, this is one of two decks I'll ever play in 60 card magic ever again. |
