So I have money and I wanted to start playing Magic. Is there any starter decks or anything that could give me a good start?

The scar of Mirrodin intro packs provide you with a good starting point (60 card deck plus booster pack)!

if you want to get in other formats such as Legacy or Vintage , I would recommend Fire Lighting deck , I know those formats are expensive and competieve.

I agree with Exarion on that. If you want to start building a collection, I would also recommend the deck builder's toolkit, which gives packs, as well as tons of basic lands.

Glad to see more people playing the game, let me know if you have any questions

Also download Magic Workstation, MTGsalvation.com's forum has great resources. This will allow you to playtest decks and just play online in general.

MWS: Magicworkstation.com
MTGS: forums.mtgsalvation.com

Good luck if you have any questions PM me here or hit me up on AIM.

MTG is different then any other TCG
you can have the most expensive deck in the history of magic and get crush by a deck straight out of a tool-kit
smarter player always win no matter what kind of deck or achetype your`e using.

I`ve seen things happen that you would believe, being rich dosent make you better in this game

I've never played yugioh, so I can't really compare, but it seems like at a point, a lot of their players transition into magic.

YGO all about chase rares and getting the most "foil" cards and every staple makes the game unstable and unfair (not saying I wasn't a good player mind you) I played for years and now I'm happy to have gotten into magic which requires:

-Skill (yeah I said skill not LUCK of your hand/cards that are rich)
-Thinking power <----can't tell you how much this helped
-Well known knowledge in the ruling field
-Having fun no matter what your using

Those are the most important for any player to start I might be missing one or two but yeah.

Actually, there are certain matchups that are just straight up unwinnable for a lot of decks. Enchantress stalls takes a hit early game but once they land a nicely placed Solitary w/ 2+ engines going it's almost impossible for them to lose against Burn, Dredge, Zoo - any aggro deck really. And on top of that, in magic we have cards that HOSE certain decktypes- Leyline of the Void and Leyline of Sanctity for example. Void hoses dredge/reanimator, Sanctity hoses burn. And no, neither has any drawback if you play them right. Being able to play one card and make an opponent scoop isn't smarts at all, it's luck.

There are plenty of autopilot decks in mtg, legacy Burnig Elves!!, Dredge (w/ LED) and Burn are all prime examples of decks that any monkey can pick up and win with.

Actually, I can't think of a single card game that doesn't require a lot of luck, because I mean you can be the best player in the world but you ain't winning with four mountains and three Dazes. Thinking power, I refer you to what I said about my three decks of choice. Knowledge in the ruling field? Very few people actually know the rules as extensively as they need to to not make a single play mistake. You play a spell and don't give your opponent a chance to respond? PLAY ERROR. You pass priority while doing an infinite combo based off of activated abilities? Also, PLAY ERROR. And about having fun, I don't know about you but taking a standard deck to a legacy tournament is not fun in the least for the one piloting said standard deck.

Oh and as far as "chase rares" go, yeah try Planeswalkers and Mythics, they changed Magic for the worse about nine sets ago now if not more.
Someday you'll find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernover
