No one really believes that J.J. Redick is a better player than Vince Carter.

But he might be a better fit now for the Orlando Magic.

It took the absence of Carter – the seven-time All-Star who missed the game with a bruised shoulder – to snap the defending Eastern Conference champions back to life Saturday night, ending their longest losing streak in the past three seasons.

It was Saturday's victory that now has Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy seriously contemplating a lineup change that would include using Carter in reserve, a dramatic role change for one of the league's most popular players.

"Nobody is set (in the lineup) if you're losing,'' Van Gundy said. "You can only take losing for so long, then you do what you have to do.''

Same here, but its definitely the right move for this team right now. Redick has been really solid this season

I don't mind this move. It really doesn't matter who starts but who finishes the game and that role is Carter's only.

Sixth Man
Our problem is definetely the backcourt. Last year we had Alston and Lee with Petrious playing many minutes as well off the bench. Those guys are defensive minded guys (Petrious can go crazy sometimes). This year we have Jameer and Carter; two great offensive guys but really they don't work on defense.

Defense starts with the PG, at the top of the key and filters thru everyone. It is hard to think of JJ as a defensive guy but he has earned some recognition because he finds a way to get minutes and earns a startting role.

I believe the best that could happen to us is to trade Jameer but that's not gonna happen.

I hope this team starts showing more effort and more will. That is what bothers me; not much the end results of games; but these guys are just playing as if they can just flip the switch come playoff time. Defense and hard work is a habit and thats something we need to work on.
