We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Looking for their best start in 14 years, the Orlando Magic will attempt to set a franchise record with their eighth straight road win in a season.
Orlando can achieve that mark with a sixth consecutive victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
The Southeast Division-leading Magic won their fifth straight overall and improved to 16-4 with Saturday’s 126-118 victory at Golden State. Orlando used a 15-0 fourth-quarter run to win its seventh in a row on the road since a 102-74 loss to Oklahoma City on Nov. 8.
More NBA Videos “We got a little lucky and hung around and stayed in the game until we were able to get the last push that we needed,” said coach Stan Van Gundy, whose team has won 10 of 11.
Orlando, which looks to open 17-4 for the first time since 1995-96, has not won eight straight away from home since taking its final two road games of 2006-07 and its first seven the following season.
“We like playing on the road and like the atmosphere that the road brings us. It’s almost like we’re more together on the road,” center Dwight Howard(notes) told the team’s official Web site. “We feed off the energy of knowing that we have to go into somebody else’s building and quiet that crowd and get the win.”
Orlando won its last two in Los Angeles against the Clippers, the most recent a 95-88 victory last Dec. 8. Howard had 23 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks.
Looking for its first victory over Orlando since Dec. 3, 2006, Los Angeles (9-11) will try for a better effort than it had in an 88-72 win over Indiana on Saturday. The Clippers, winners of four of five at home, shot 34.9 percent from the field, went 4 of 16 from 3-point range and matched a season high with 21 turnovers.
“It was one of the ugliest (games), but I’m definitely not giving it back,” center Marcus Camby(notes) said after scoring 12 points with 17 rebounds. “The way we shot the ball and turned the ball over and still got the win, we’ve definitely got a lot of improvement to do. But I’m more than happy to get the W.”
Los Angeles was also happy to have second-year guard Eric Gordon(notes) back after he missed Wednesday’s loss to Houston with a strained left hamstring. He scored 10 points Saturday.
“Obviously Eric’s numbers, shooting the ball 3 for 10, were not so great,” coach Mike Dunleavy said, “but he has an impact on the game defensively. As far as stops, deflections, hands on the ball, pushing the ball up the floor, making plays to other guys, and the fact that you have to guard him – it helps spread the court.”
Gordon averaged 11.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting in two losses to Orlando last season.
Magic guard Vince Carter(notes) had 27 points Saturday as Orlando had its best offensive output since a 135-111 victory over Indiana on Jan. 27.
Playing for New Jersey, Carter averaged 33.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists against Los Angeles in 2008-09.
Orlando hosts the Clippers on March 9.

Happy Bday Dwight.
Here's his latest blog:
Do You Know What Today Is???
Heyyyyyy wooooorrrrrlddddd!!!! Ya’ll are not going to believe how cold and rainy it’s been in L.A. It’s kind of depressing because we could normally always count on L.A. being sunny and nice, but not for this trip.
It was pouring so hard on Monday while we were practicing that we could barely hear the coaches yelling at us. And it’s sooooo cold, too. Feels more like Denver than the L.A. that I’ve grown to love.
This is a business trip for us and we’ve got our focus on beating the Clippers tonight, but ya’ll know how busy I like to keep myself in my down time. They got ya boy running crazy while we’re in L.A., but it’s all good because ya’ll know I like to show all the sides of my personality. Like I always say, basketball is just one part of me.
We didn’t practice on Sunday and that night I had a photo shoot for Men’s Health magazine. They took a bunch of pictures and I think everybody will get to see all of my muscles that I’ve worked so hard to build up. I just think when you stay in the gym as much as I do, it’s OK to show off the weapons you’ve worked so hard to build.
Not sure if ya’ll know or not, but today is my 24th birthday. What did everybody out there buy me for a present?!?!?!?!?!?! Nawww, I only want one thing for my B-day and that’s the gold ball in June. If I ever get my hands on that, I won’t want anything the rest of my life.
Well, I better run up outta here. Ya’ll check us out Tonight against the Clipps and let me know what’s up in your world. Hit me anytime on Twitter or right here because I get a kick out of reading what you guys think.

The summer of 2004 doesn't seem quite that long ago, but the Orlando Magic's #1 selection from that draft, Dwight Howard has now reached 24 years of age. Orlando celebrated Dwight's birthday with a 97-86 victory Tuesday night, setting a new franchise record by winning their 8th straight road game in the same season. Howard gifted himself a game-high 25 points, 11 rebounds, 7 blocks, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
Dwight proved once again to be the Beast of the East as he made Chris Kaman look like a D-Leaguer to start the first quarter, putting up a 10-point flurry in the first five and a half minutes of the contest. Superman came into tonight's contest averaging 18.1 ppg and 12.1 rpg. Rashard Lewis and Jason Williams gave D12 much needed scoring support, each adding 17 and 16 points. At 17-4, this the Magic's best start to a season since the Shaq and Penny days in '95-'96. The road warriors kept L.A. in the game for most of the night, as the Clippers didn't take their first lead until they made it 64-63 with 5:13 left in the 3rd quarter. However, a smooth 24-17 fourth period was good enough to keep the good guys in front for good the rest of the way. The Magic continue their road trip Thursday night in Utah to take on Coach Jerry Sloan's 12-8 Jazz who are in L.A. to take on the Lakers the night before.
For the now 9-12 Clippers, they were led by Eric Gordon's 21 points. Chris Kaman tallied 16 points and 9 boards, while Baron Davis' 18 points and 11 assists were not enough to get their first victory against the Magic since December 3, 2006. Coach Mike Dunleavy's crew will get to rest a bit until Sunday evening when they host the San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center.
