I stumbled upon quite a phenomenally hideous statistic. If you don't know by now, in the offseason the Orlando Magic traded Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, and Tony Battie to the New Jersey Nets for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson. Not only do the Nets now have the worst start in NBA history at 0-18, but they also haven't won a game without Vince Carter since December 22, 2004.

That's coming up on a full 5 years. People were talking about Vince Carter's injury woes, well he only missed 11 games for the 4 years he was in Jersey after that game. All 11 times that Carter sat, the Nets failed to pick up a victory. Myself and other diehard Magic fans are pained to have to watch Courtney Lee suffer through that atrocious franchise.

The Nets now could aim for another record. Even though Kiki Vandeweghe and Del Harris are taking over the team for Friday's contest at home against the 7-10 Charlotte Bobcats, they could potentially break the longest losing streak period in NBA history. That mark is 24 straight games, owned by the 1981-1982 Cleveland Cavaliers. Can 0-25 happen? If you're going to be horrible, you might as well be the best at it. The longest loss streak in a single season is a tie at 23 games between the 1995-1996 Vancouver Grizzlies and the 1997-1998 Denver Nuggets.

For an 0-18 team, the Nets are nothing without Vince Carter. I can't imagine that the Nets knew how to lose so much to establish a very inept record. But I don't think Vince Carter miss the Nets because he wanted a championship contender and the Nets are not what he wanted. Bad misfortune.

It's shocking that they had lost so many games in a row without Vince before this season. They are now 0-29 in games that Carter hasn't played.

I know Carter is a good player, but damn that's crazy.

Redick-ulous
They just need someone on that team (Lee, Lopez, Harris) to step up and be the leader. They are very capable of winning...they just need to have the drive from "that one" player.
