Source: Knicks lose interest in Iverson

NEW YORK -- Allen Iverson will not be the answer for the New York Knicks, a team official said Friday.

After two days of debating the pros and cons of adding the four-time NBA scoring champion, the Knicks decided late Thursday night not to offer the newly unrestricted free agent a one-year contract.

"We are definitely not pursuing him anymore," the Knicks source said.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh was expected to speak to the media at the team's facility Friday at noon ET.

Iverson cleared waivers Thursday night and is free to sign with any NBA team.

The former MVP was waived Tuesday after playing only three games with the Memphis Grizzlies and no team claimed him in the following 48 hours, making him a free agent.

Iverson was unhappy coming off the bench last season in Detroit and this season with the Grizzlies, so there wasn't expected to be much interest in him.

Interesting.....most Magic fans don't want him, I'm probably more towards to people that don't want him, but it would be interesting if he did come here.

He's still a good player.

The problem is if he tries to be "the man" then it wouldn't work at all. He's more of an SG than a PG, anyways.

I'm still sort of interested though. Can't help it.

Same here, he's still like that nice flashy shinny gift under the christmas tree, despite all the trouble that might come with it.

His last option for him is to retire.

yikes..nelson will be back in a couple weeks. no need to go and do something stupid and sign iverson. he is a disease.
even when nelson does come back, i feel that j-will is who we need starting. as long as he doesn't make alot of mistakes(which he hasn't been), he should be our starter.

People like George Thompson and Larry Brown might talk him out of it.
76ERS are going to sign him with Lou Williams out for 8 weeks.

Ya i sort of agree with mgsports here....even though he is retired, the talking "him out of it" is a little past, but i do believe he will return.

He will be the Brett Favre of the NBA
