NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. You can also visit the original MagicMadness Forum at http://orlandomagic.proboards.com.

Special thanks to our Staff Members: Black and Blue, MAGICMANEVAN, and NYCMagicFan!

Orlando Magic fans who are stuck in the nosebleed seats can take heart: The team's new arena will boast the largest video screen scoreboard in the NBA.

The center-hung scoreboard will actually consist of 18 separate video displays. The four main high-definition light-emitting diode screens will each measure 17 feet-by-24 feet, more than four times the size of the current ones. Another eight displays will feature more video, scores and statistics. Two LED "ring" displays circle the scoreboard, and there are four more corner screens.

------------------------------------

Including the scoreboard, Daktronics will install 50 video displays inside and outside the $480-million arena:

■The largest — 46 feet tall and 54 feet wide, bigger than the average movie screen — will be on the east side of the building's exterior, visible to drivers on Interstate 4. It is semi-transparent, so fans on outdoor patios behind the panel will still be able to see the downtown skyline.

■Two ribbon displays will be mounted around the interior bowls, broadcasting statistics, out-of-town scores, closed-captioning, animation and video clips. One 360-degree display will be 1,100 feet long and circle the entire arena.

■The exterior of the building's corner tower will have a curved LED display that will promote events. It will measure about 8 feet tall by 80 feet wide.

Sounds great. I can't wait to get in there and see some game action. Especially because the arena now is small and outdated. Its hard to sit straight in those chairs because they are so small.
