This is from Swish14 aka Alex Kennedy, an inside reporter who can usually be found on the Orlando Magic's official message board:

Quote:

- Jason Williams was impressive during his workout but was tired and and run down after about twenty five minutes. He performed well at the start but towards the end, he was clearly drained and his production dropped off a bit. However, Otis liked what he saw at the beginning of the workout and didn't think Williams' conditioning was a big issue.

- Despite bringing in Williams, Orlando could still be shopping Anthony Johnson in exchange for another point guard. Nothing is imminent but they are looking into some things.

- As far as free agents go, the Magic are now focusing their attention on a reserve big. Bringing back Foyle or Battie (if bought out) are options but we're also looking at some new guys. I'll be reporting on that in these next couple days if I get anything.

Also, I mentioned in the Jason Williams signing thread that Otis might still be pursuing Watson, but I can't find the exact quote about it.

If he gets bought out, what do you guys think about bringing back Battie? Foyle contributes absolutely nothing at this point, but Battie is still decent.

Is Foyle still under contract?
Battie will not be cut.
What they need is Nate Robinson or a PF or SF if Mikael P. is to becoming off the Bench.

Bringing back Battie would be the perfect finalization of the roster.

I'm a big Battie fan. Still productive and doesn't make any stupid mistakes.

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks
we can sign some young D league player to do what battie does. which mostly last season was get rebounds ripped away from him and jack up a jumper everytime he touched the ball. sure he had a few good games here and there, but it doesn't make up for the non impact he had in all the others. He was a valuable piece before the injury but hes done now.

im going to have to disagree....you want to fill out your roster with players that u can count in case someone cannot play for a night, week, month, year.... the reason battie dnp is because he was not needed, not because he didnt have the skills.... battie probably could start on a # of teams around the league....with a d-league player, a team would be happy that player could perform for a single much-less a month or so....my point is, dont take for granted a player of battie's caliper; he's quality player, as well as a perfessional player who brings it everytime his # is called...those players are hard to find

It would be great if they can bring back Battie. I do think we need to move beetlejuice, for a younger, more athletic pg.

The move is really for Dwight actually. Dwight & Battie are really good friends so that move would help and also because Battie is at least a veteran and is serviceable.

More news from Alex Kennedy about C.J. Watson:

Quote:

We're still trying to get him. Now that we have three point guards, Golden State has lost some leverage. We're basically offering the same package and Golden State is reconsidering. We'll know one way or another in the next few days for the LAST time. I didn't think talks with start back up but I guess the Warriors want to get what they can for him. We'll see what happens.

Otis probably figures it'll be a pick deep into the 20s, and we save money not having another guaranteed guy on the roster.
I'm a guy who values draft picks though and wouldn't do the deal.
