Naturally, it's time to check out what else is out there in point guard land now that C.J. Watson seems headed nowhere. Interesting note in the Contra Costa times today. The Warriors liked Watson and didn't feel like they were getting enough from other offers to make trading him worth their while.

Onward.

There was some chatter about the Magic keeping an eye on Mike Wilks, a guy who was with this team briefly last season. He tore his ACL in October. Wilks' agent, Bill Neff, told my colleague Josh Robbins that Magic coach Stan Van Gundy texted Wilks in July. Van Gundy told Wilks in the text that when he was ready to work out, he should let the Magic know. Other than that text, Neff said there have been no other inquiries from the Magic.

Some guys we know aren't in the running with the Magic via their agents:

Dee Brown
Ramon Sessions
Jason Hart
Troy Hudson

Ronald "Flip" Murray is an interesting guy who might fit well for the Magic. He's had a journeyman's career, spent last season in Atlanta and put up some great numbers. He played in 80 games, averaged 24.7 minutes per game and 12.2 points per game.

Jason Williams is still out there after his NBA hiatus. The Clippers gave up their rights to him, then the Knicks acquired them before doing the same. He has a home in the Orlando area and that could make this an enticing option for Williams.

Raymond Felton still hasn't figured out his deal with the Bobcats. From published comments it sounds like they want to work something out in Charlotte.

Allen Iverson is still looking for a home. He wrote this on his Twitter page earlier today: "If you think that I am just going away-Think again! I am getting ready for the NBA season. Waiting for the call. Charlotte, Miami, NY."

And then there's Bobby Jackson, Brevin Knight, Sean Singletary and Jacques Vaughn among those still looking for work.

So, any thoughts on who you'd like to see the Magic pursue?

I know this might sound crazy...but what if we had Iverson as Nelson's back-up? Too many locker room problems? I wouldn't want Nelson to feel like his job was in jeopardy, but still, it's interesting to think about. I know Iverson has expressed that he wants to start somewhere next season, but since very few teams are interested he might change his tone...

Most likely we'll go after one of the lesser players, which makes sense.

Well apparently a CJ Watson deal was in the works, and we offered AJ. I am a bit confused at this as we are looking for a 3rd point guard, and we attempted giving up our 2nd point guard for him. The way it looks now is that the title of this post should be 2nd or 3rd point guard option.

If AJ was going to be involved in the trade for Watson, then the intent was probably to make Watson the backup and bring in someone like Wilks to fill the 3rd spot.

I'd love Flip Murray. And I don't want any part of Jacques Vaughn. Too many bad memories there.

Flip would be my definite first choice over some of the other guys named. Maybe I'm wrong but I would assume he has a higher price tag and might not like being 3rd string.

If we get Flip, I doubt he'd be the third string. The grumpy one would probably AJ.

So we offered the warriors a backup PG AND a first round pick and they still said no? First of all I think we offered way too much for a guy thats the 3rd string point guard on that team. Second the warriors are complete idiots for not taking that trade if Watson ends up just signing the qualifying offer and bolting after this season anyways.

BTW about that list, anybody remember when jaque vaughn was our starting PG in the Tmac days? Talk about rajon rondo without the freakishly long arms and speed and you get jaque vaughn.

Jason William's chances of going to Orlando is high. I think he will help our team a little more in terms of depth.

Here was Otis' quote from the workout:

Quote:

"He looked okay, especially for a guy who's sat out a year," said Otis Smith to the Orlando Sentinel. "He's a possibility."

Not too promising. I read somewhere that he worked out for another team recently and he did not look good at all.
