Courtney Lee is still hurting over his trade to the Nets, according to Dwight Howard.

Lee, who started for the Magic in the Finals, was the main piece the Nets received in the Vince Carter trade. But Lee is not quite doing handstands over the move.

"He's hurting," Howard, who spoke with Lee his ex-teammate on Wednesday, said today at a movie shoot at the IZOD Center. "He's not just upset, he's hurting."

Now he knows how Nets fans feel.

Howard claimed that Lee was happy and content as a rookie in Orlando. Why not? He went to the Finals. The two, who became good friends, spoke just after the Finals about what they needed to do to get back and win a title. Then Lee got a draft night call.

"He was ready to get back in the gym and work on it and he got traded so he's hurting," said Howard.

Bobby Simmons, for one, thinks Lee will get over the shock and hurt. All he needs is to meet his new mates. Simmons said he is "not at all" worried about Lee adapting.

"Once he gets here, his mindset will change," Simmons said. "Once he gets here and meets the guys on the team, he'll be fine."

And once he gets settled in, Howard predicts the Nets will see they got themselves a heckuva player.

"Courtney is a hard worker," Howard said. " I think if he continues to work hard, he can be an all-star."

I feel bad for Lee. This was a classic case of a young player doing better than expected, and then being traded because of it (Lee immediately became an important piece in aquiring a much more needed talent).

That's why Lee ended up getting traded instead of, say, J.J. Redick.

Over time, Lee will get over it. He'll likely end up getting plenty of playing time there, and I think him and Devin Harris will end up as friends. There are also a lot of other young guys on that team, so he should fit in well. He really, really seems to have enjoyed his short time with the Magic though, and it's sad to see him so upset.

ya i would of loved for C. Lee to keep a magic uni and to have traded JJ and/or AJ but there is nothing that can be done about it except to go play some basketball.

It's sad in retrospect that it happened the way it shouldn't. For Lee, it will take some time in order for him to shape his state of mind.
