ESPN just reported turk agreed with the raptors. most likely 5yrs/52mill and unless they renounce the rights to two players, i think delfino and parker they cant sign him outright and would have to S&T. even though we didnt get him i kinda like the fact that kevin pritchard got served a nice piece of humble pie. dude gets lucky that aldridge wasnt a bust and lucks into the number one pick, makes a couple trades and now thinks he is gods gift to nba management. I've really never heard a guy boast more about himself than Pritchard, im so glad Hedo pulled the screwjob on this fool. |

i still think their gonna renounce the rights to delfino and parker to sign him outright. the only guy i can really think of getting from them would be marion but that would depend on if we reached a new deal w/ him. i doubt that too cause supposedly marion is all about the money so we'll see |

Just because ESPN posts it doesn't mean it is true, obviously. If the accountants do their jobs, they'll tell Turk that it really isn't much of a pay increase over what we just offered. Now if he wants to move to Toronto for family reasons to live there, then that's one thing. But if money is as big of a concern as he has led us to believe, it will be interesting to see if Orlando's new offer changes his mind. Not much less money, but he will avoid missing the playoffs for the next 5 years too

If we could get Marion for MLE type money, then why not? But we don't need to be paying him Hedo-type money. |

http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/davi...deal/index.html Ah, looks like Toronto is going to pay OVER $60 million for 5 years. Portland was actually offering $57 for 5. So I guess Toronto is paying more than the supposed $52 million. If that is the case, then he's definitely gone to Toronto. No doubt about it. |

But Toronto is not an Eastern Conference contender. At least Portland had a chance to win it all. Winning is clearly not a big priority to him right now. Bosh is as good as gone after this season and then what is Hedo going to do? I guess count his $$$ during the playoffs because he sure won't be busy. |

dude im not gonna blame hedo for taking the money. they said the deal is probably in excess of 60 million dollars. i dont know how many people even like us that arent making nba type salaries would actually pass up that kind of money when it comes down to actually doing it. plus its his last chance at a payday and he got it. he played well for us and never really b**ched or moaned about anything. he just went out and played and made some amazing shots the past two years. |

Oh I'm not blaming him, but I do question not going to Portland. I guess they must have really not wanted to live there because the money difference is more than likely very small (57 vs. 61/62) and the chance of winning is much larger in Portland. Now if he signed for the earlier rumored $52 million in Toronto vs $45 in Orlando then I would be upset. But once it came out that it was OVER $60 million for Toronto, then I knew our $45 was not an option. I guess if Toronto offered more money and it is where they wanted to live, you can't really blame him. But man it has to be tough going from a team so close to winning it all to a team that will be flying if they get in the Playoffs next year and after that probably not. |

I love Turk, but the Raptors grossly overpaid, I thought 10 million at the most per year, but they are giving up around 12 per year. Not worth it, glad we traded for VC. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/davi...deal/index.html

Obviously Turk wanted the big cash, glad we traded for VC because we weren't going to be able to give him that big of a deal, so Otis made the right move. Plus it sounds like he's really high on the city of Toronto, but the team....well they'll be okay this year, should make the playoffs as maybe a 6,7 or 8th seed; however, when Bosh bolts after this year what then? |

By the way, we should be a top 3 seed in the East next year you would expect. There is a chance the Raptors could be a bottom 3 playoff team, could we say first round matchup with Hedo, Bosh and the Raptors? How crazy would that be? |

I agree on both counts there Vinnie. After hearing close to $12 million per year, the VC trade looks like a stroke of genius. I'm not sold on letting Gortat walk because of how valuable he could be as a sixth man/starting PF. But yes we would not want to pay Turk that long term of a deal at that price, even if many believe he was the most valuable player to the team. Of course, this all hinges on Nelson coming back to 100% and VC playing at least at the level he did last year for NJ. If those things happen, we should still be in pretty good shape. Losing Lee won't be as big of a deal if JJ finally steps up in a contract year. All things aside I think we have to bring in Wallace, McDyess, or Gortat (And not in that order). Bringing one of those guys to be the starting PF, makes us just as dangerous as last year. We will be able to play Boston and LA better, but the losing Turk hurts us against Cleveland. |
