Yeah, I'm still torn on this, I keep flip-flopping on what I would like to see.

In the end, if he's healthy enough, he can provide a few minutes a game. And I don't mean putting him in in a tight game situation, but maybe we've got like a 8-10 point lead and playing strong, give him a minute or two here or there to excite the home crowd and give the team an emotional boost, see what he's got in the tank.

I don't know. We'll see how the story develops. Like dxwwf3 said, it could be a big emotional boost, a good spark off the bench (in very limited minutes).

I am flabbergasted that not only it's a risk to Jameer's health, it's a chemistry risk which the whole team will regret if they can't seal the season right. But I understand it's exaggeration to everyone's opinion and I think that this team will work this one out, you know have a get together of what should be the game plan since this news.

I don't see the chemistry issue with Jameer though. I think it will help us even more just because he's there alongside everyone. It will get their spirits up in a way.

Jameer Nelson is back on the basketball court. But don't get too excited about seeing him in uniform in the NBA Finals against the L.A. Lakers.

Nelson started practicing with the team last week and will participate in workouts today in Orlando and Wednesday in Los Angeles before a final decision is made about whether he will be activated for the Finals.

So far his action has been limited to 4-on-4 pickup games, though he has taken some contact.

Nelson was cautiously optimistic about his prospects. He suffered a torn labrum on Feb. 3 and had surgery on it Feb. 19, with the team signing Rafer Alston the same day.

Doctors told Nelson to expect a six-month recovery. So far it has been a little over three.

"I'm ahead of schedule, but that doesn't mean that I want to play," Nelson said Monday after a short film session with his teammates. "I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow. I have to wake up every day and see how I feel.

This story is really gathering steam. This might actually happen. What a big boost emotionally it will be for the team.

Agreed, what an emotional boost it would be to the team and the fans to at least see Jameer in uniform. I wouldn't mind him playing in very limited minutes, maybe to spell Alston towards the end of quarters.

I would much rather have a full strength duo of Jameer/Alston next year when we repeat. :P

If he's getting AJ's minutes I have no issue with it and that appears what the case will be. He isn't replacing Rafer or going to be in the starting lineup. If he sparks the team off the bench and things are looking good, let Rafer rest a little longer. Go with the hot hand to finish the game. That's the way to do it.

didnt he say in his interview during the game last night that he was a little behind schedule on the rehab? he said he was gonna shoot for preseason which was looking like a long shot. someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure thats what he said.

That's what I thought he said as well. Either we heard it wrong or he was just trying to throw everybody off.

Jameer Nelson's teammates are saying that the All-Star point guard will play in the NBA Finals.

"I expect to see him out there at some point in the series," backup guard Anthony Johnson said.

Nelson participated in a full practice with the club on Tuesday for the first time since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder Feb. 2.

Game 1 of the Finals against the Lakers will be Thursday night.

hey man, i love nelson. i hope he plays. i hope he stays healthy. thats the only thing that bothers me. i'm not worried about if he'll be able to keep up with Fisher or will be able to fit in, i'm just hoping he stays healthy for next season.

and about the preseason thing, i heard it too. so i was very surprised to hear the news Monday morning when i woke up. I'm hoping for the best. He'd be a big spark. A good starting PG and then to have an All-Star off the bench? count me in.
