NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Well Otis called me last night and told me to pass this along to everyone on MM:

"As sad as it is to say, but I do not want Jameer coming back until next season. It is not because he can't compete, because we all know what Mighty Mouse can do, but i do not want to bring him back on the court before he is ready."

I guess that means, even though Jameer thinks and says he is ready (he has been feeling pretty good as of late) and wants to come back and participate in the finals, Otis does not want to have any chance of making things for Jameer worse.

This post is just a simulation of what was said......not actual conversation between Smith and I.

Jameer Nelson desperately wants to return if the Magic advance and told NBA TV that it was a possibility, but general manager Otis Smith shot down that idea on Thursday.

Nelson had surgery on Feb. 19 to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and has started working out in basketball drills again.

"Sometimes people heal faster than others," said Nelson. "I'm pushing myself a little, but I'm not going to do anything stupid. (A return) is definitely possible."

"He's a long way away and he just started shooting last week," Smith said. "He was done for the season in February and that hasn't changed. Right now he's having a hard enough time playing (pick-up) against (athletic trainer) Keon (Wise). It's about his future. If it was up to him he'd play, but it's not up to him. He's moving good, feeling good and looking good, but that's playing against air."

Who's place on the Roster would he take Lue's probley?
Could be available just in case Alston,Johnson,Lue are in Foul trouble or is the Magic are winning by a lot in the 4 quarter.
Wouldn't it be up to Nelson.

I don't want to risk it. I mean IF we do make it, what if he injures it more? That's something we shouldn't risk.
