Orlando, Fla. -- Kendrick Perkins and the Boston Celtics received some good news Saturday from the NBA, learning that Perkins will not be suspended for Game 4 of the Boston-Orlando series for hitting Orlando's Mickael Pietrus in the throat with an elbow.

An NBA spokesman said the Perkins play "stands as called," meaning Perkins will still be charged with one flagrant foul point (players are suspended a game when they reach four flagrant foul points) but will not have to sit out Sunday's game.

NBA vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson was not immediately available for comment, and both the Magic and Celtics had concluded practice by the time the decision was announced.

NBA rules call for the automatic ejection of a player who strikes an opponent above the shoulders with an elbow or a punch, but Perkins was not tossed from the game and the play was not reviewed because it did not involve a flagrant-2 foul.

Unbelievable! Alston gets suspended for a SMACK, but Perkins doesnt for an ELBOW to the THROAT of Pietrue that was ruled a Flagrant!

The play was not even reviewed! But Alstons was, and that wasnt a Flagrant 2.

In a way, this is good. I don't know how this team would play if they knew Perkins was out. They would most likely play lazy and give the ball to Howard more times than they should and it would have hurt us in the long run. We can beat the C's with Perkins, so whatever.

I like how Stu Jackson said that the foul wasn't hard enough to deserve a suspension, and Rafer's slap was so "hard." Are you kidding? Such a joke.

You can actually call the NBA office and speak with Stu Jackson. I did it last year when the Magic got hosed on that shot by Billups that shouldn't have counted.

wow. whatever. screw the NBA. and screw Stu Jackson. we all know they are full of bull crap. but whatever. we'll beat them tomorrow. I can't wait. And i hope to see more good solid picks by Dwight that send Rondo to the floor some more and see of Perkins get a shot blocked back into his face.

What did you guys expect? Heck if Lebron had done the same thing he wouldn't get suspended.

He and Kobe should have got Susspened. The Refs didn't even call a Foul on A. Wright and the Nuggets won the Game today.
