Magic guard Courtney Lee, who had surgery last week to repair a fractured sinus, likely will be available for Friday's Game 3 when the conference semifinals against the Celtics return to Orlando, according to a report in the Boston Globe.[...]

I really hope this is true, and that he's actually ready to play instead of only being "available". Sounds like the healing process is going well for him.

We really need Lee right now. I just don't know how well Pietrus and Redick are going to be able to contain Ray Allen over the course of an entire series.

Plus we need his offense, of course.

I hope this is the case. We need Lee back to win this series IMO. Hopefully he can play with one of those masks on if he needs it.

He'll most definitely be wearing a mask, I'd assume.

This is great news. HUGE news. We really need him on the defensive end against Boston's guards.

Orlando Sentinel says possibly Game 2?

BOSTON - Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee arrived just before the team meeting ended on Tuesday and said he "hopes" to play in Game 2 against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.

Carrying a travel bag and smiling from ear to ear, Lee made his comment while walking into a team meeting at Boston Harbor Hotel about 2:40 p.m. Applause from his teammates could be heard coming from the ballroom.

Even better news. But, I'd kind of like to see him sit out one more game. Just as a precautionary measure.

With the way JJ and MP played in Game 1, we might need Lee as the backup PG :)

Hate to say it, but I just don't know if Redick/Pietrus could sustain that level of play for an entire series.

Plus, you just know those two guys aren't going to contain Allen for an entire series.

Back to Lee, looks like he won't be playing in Game 2:

Quote:

Coach Stan Van Gundy said he plans on starting J.J. Redick.
"Nah, I just got here," Lee said. "I don't see that.....I'll take it one step at a time and take it from there."
Van Gundy said he would be "surprised" if Lee is able to play so soon.
Lee is recovering from sinus surgery, performed last Thursday in Philadelphia, and hasn't played since being injured last Tuesday in Game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Lee is expected to try to participate in the team's shootaround Wednesday morning.
Lee said he was fitted for a mask in Orlando and tried it on, working out on an exercise bike to see how it reacted to him sweating and moving.
"I tried it on. It feels good," Lee said. "They fit it to my face. I have to see how it feels during a game when I'm sweating, jumping up and down."

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks
redick did a nice job last night but you know ray allen is gonna go off on him this series so we could really use courtney. plus his slashing and pull up mid range jumper were missed pretty bad last night when our whole team decided to be lazy and jack up contested 3's instead of being aggressive

Redick did a great job and his flying all over the court visibly disrupted Ray Allen. Redick's whiteness has a way of blinding people (seriously, he needs a tan...he lives in FLORIDA for heavens sake!)

Does the mask have to be clear plastic? Or can he dress it up a little? He could give himself a wolverine face - it probably wouldn't make a difference in the game, but it would be pretty fun to watch.

Im anticipating Rondo roundhouse kicking Lee in the back of the head and injuring him even further.....All in the flow of the game of course so he doesnt get suspended. In a stunning turn of events they would suspend lee. The sad part of it all is that we wouldnt be surprised.

We now get the Bench back to full Strength for Game 5 with Alston not available for Game 3. Maybe JJ Redick or Johnson will start Game 3.
