NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. ESPN.com columnist Jemele Hill was suspended yesterday after sparking outrage by comparing rooting for the Boston Celtics [team stats] to Adolf Hitler and nuclear war.

“Jemele has been relieved of her writing and on-air responsibilities for a period of time to reflect on the impact of her words,” ESPN spokesman Paul Melvin said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.

Yesterday, Hill amplified on her earlier apology for writing, “Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

I know, LOL is right. You know, I already am sick of ESPN and its own journalists as the way they portrayed the teams and sports in a clownish way and a negative light and people from the leagues know that journalism is dead and felt that tabloids are the answer to make headlines and make money. Disgraceful. But it happens. Hope that future writers and editors will soon learn this lesson.

She was only with the Sentinel for a short time, but during her stint there she had to be one of the most unpopular sports writers (in Orlando) of the last 20 years, at least.

Yeah, I mean. She lost respect from her readers, ESPN is taking too many criticism for doing that to the public, embarrassing them and mocking them by making unfair statements that reflects anyone from the rosy picture.

Not surprised. She was awful on the O-Sen.

She should have been fired long ago, particularly for that POS she wrote claiming that Anne Leibowitz was a racist for taking that pic of LeBron for Vogue (or whatever the magazine was), claiming that it looked like the cover of King Kong.

But I think that out of all her stupidity, this one takes the cake.

I find this to be crazy from ESPN's part. What in the world would they want her in the headquarters in the first place even if that she got herself ousted from O-Sentinel? That's why I don't read or watch ESPN columnists ever!

True, it's pretty sad that they hired her to begin with. Do they just blindly accept all job applications?

If so, I need to submit mine... :r
