He also expects to bring Grant Hill -- former Magic player and current teammate with the Suns -- along to help him.

Grant will be the team president -- he's a bright guy -- and I'll be the general manager," O'Neal said. "I'm serious. They need me down there with the new arena coming. Grant and I are coming to do the job."

Smith laughed Wednesday when he heard about O'Neal's plans for the future.

"I thought he wanted to be the Sheriff," Smith said. "But when they are ready, I will be happy to step aside.'

Nice, Shaq and Grant are both awesome. I wouldn't be opposed.

I'd rather him just buy the team. He'd make a great gm though, I think personality wise he is better suited to scouting than Jordan. Just a hunch.

This actually isn't the first time Shaq has said something like this, I remember hearing a while ago that he said once he retires he'd like to get some sort of role with the Magic.

I don't know if any of them will be good, but it will sure put the Magic on the spotlight.

Shaq has the charisma to bring players in, I'm just not sure if he is willing to do work on salary cap matters.

Are you serious?? Shaq got a better offer from the Lakers to play in a bigger location and Grant Hill left to try to win a ring. They didn't backstab us at all.

Anyways, I think it'll be fun to see what Shaq does. I think Grant Hill personally would be a good GM. I think a lot of teams would want to play for us if that happens.

Good points, it would definitely help us reel in some more players. And get some spotlight for a change.

Amazing how time makes people forget how players turned their back onn an organization.
