NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. You can also visit the original MagicMadness Forum at http://orlandomagic.proboards.com.

Special thanks to our Staff Members: Black and Blue, MAGICMANEVAN, and NYCMagicFan!

He was 9-16 from the field, including 2-3 from downtown. He captured seven rebounds, led both teams in assists (8) and scoring (24). But there were other stats that won't show up in box scores that emphasized Turkoglu's prowess as a playmaker:

Over the course of his 40 minutes of daylight (another game-high total), he had:

59 touches — an astounding number for a power forward.
He also made 42 passes, another amazing stat.
Turkoglu was also entrusted with making most of the team's entry passes to posted teammates — including two to Rashard Lewis, one to Brian Cook and five to Dwight Howard.
On 11 offensive sets, it was Turkoglu who carried the ball across the time-line. ....

....And what about Turkoglu's defense?

He was never challenged by Moon, who mostly stayed put in the weak-side corner.
On one sequence when Turkoglu was checking Delfino, the Raps' small forward was planted on the weak-side wing and never moved a muscle as he watched his teammates cavort with the ball.
On a subsequent play, however, Turkoglu bought a head-fake by Delfino, but Toronto failed to score.
Turkoglu generally lacked the footspeed to make quick transitions from offense to defense.
In head-to-head confrontations, Turkoglu yielded only four points — two to Delfino on a putback when he failed to box out, and two on a mid-range jumper by Anthony Parker on a switch.

What's the difference in Turkoglu's game?

Whereas Brian Hill either posted Turkoglu or positioned him to shoot treys, Stan Van Gundy completely trusts him with the ball (Turk the Turk also executes all side-inbounds passes) and has greatly expanded his role.

I love it how SVG is exposing our teams talent this year.....

So much so, that it's really Hedo Turkoglu (and not Dwight Howard) who is the Magic's prime mover.

Nice find Kwik! Although I hate Rosen, his article are mostly dead on. I have to agree on him on that quote above. Hedo will be a very expensive summer for the Magic again. I wonder how much is Otis, I mean ownership, is willing to spend to retain him. He may actually be the reason we are not making any moves - to prepare for his coming FA.

Yeah. Signing an extension for Hedo is as important as it was to sign Dwight's extension.
