NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Seattle SuperSonics & Storm Chairman Clayton I. Bennett made the following statement on Friday regarding the future of the franchise.

"We notified Commissioner Stern that we intend to relocate the Sonics to Oklahoma City if we succeed in the pending litigation with the City, or are able to negotiate an early lease termination, or at the end of the lease term.

"We have not made a decision regarding the future location of the Seattle Storm. We appreciate the deep local interest and support for the Storm and have begun to evaluate a future course of action for the team.

"Notwithstanding the uncertainty and difficulty of this challenging time, we remain completely committed to the success of our basketball teams. We will continue to provide our players, coaches and staff the tools and support they need to be competitive."

I feel sorry for the team's fanbase. I remember how worried most of us felt about two years ago when there were talks of the Magic moving to Kansas City.

Mark my words, they'll get another team soon like Charlotte.

Just silliness. Thank god we got that stadium deal. We're seeing our alternate future right here.

That is pretty lame. But I'm glad it isn't us.

It sucks. The Sonics have such a long history in Seattle and the city's just gonna let them go like that.

In a way, I feel happy for Oklahoma City, considering how greatly the fans there supported the Hornets even knowing it wasn't really their team.

I'm really pissed that Stern hasn't done anything about this. He could force Bennett to sell to a firm willing to keep the team in Seattle, then promise him an expansion team in Oklahoma City within a few years. Ugh.

OK City has earned this, they were in the top 5 I believe in sellouts. That college fan atmosphere will do that franchise very well (don't know how they'll like Durant though).

This really stinks for thier fans. And it sucks that Bennett can just up and move the team to his hometown whenever he wants. Too bad for all the players who have to up and move over to another part of the country.

The founder of Save Our Sonics says the formal filing of papers basically means nothing and that the Sonics will ultimately end up staying.
