FSN Florida adds Magic to agreement

FSN Florida has reached a new agreement this week with both Dish Network and Direct TV, giving Orlando Magic fans a viable alternative if Bright House Networks doesn't add the games to its lineup.

FSN Florida has the television rights to 35 Magic games this season, but it still hasn't convinced Bright House that the network is worth adding.

The Magic sold the rights this season to FSN, expecting it to get a deal with Bright House. Early in the negotiations, Bright House wanted FSN, but only for its sports tier, which would add to the cost for subscribers.

"We'd still love to get it done [with FSN]," said Sara Brady, Bright House spokesperson. "But [if not],we're still carrying more than half the games."

I still find it odd, stupid, and highly ironic that the Tallahassee and Tampa markets have the FSN station, along with already having Sun Sports (and now subsequently all of the televised Magic games), while the Orlando market will only have Sun Sports (half the games).

I live 15 minutes from the arena and only get half the games, while someone living 4-5 hours away gets all of them. WTF, Bright House.

P.S. - This isn't a jab at the people in those markets. You guys are lucky to now watch all the games, that's really cool. What bothers me is the fact that BH isn't making it that way for all of the other Orlando Magic fans that live in...well, Orlando.

Oh.. well that sure sucks. Is it worth dropping BrightHouse or would that be too costly?

Do you really need HD to enjoy the game? Would you rather not be able to see the game at all?

If you get Dish or DirecTV and get the HD package, you will be able to see most of the games broadcast in HD on select channels.

plus...i don't think it costs anything to cancel BH because I don't think you deal with contracts.

It doesnt matter because only a handfull of games will be in hd anyway. You can have all the HD channels you want if the broadcast is not in HD all youre going to get is stretch-o-vision (where they take 4:3 to 16:9).

I think in about 3 or 4 years all games will be broadcast in HD. Pretty soon all television will be in HD. It'll get to the point where it's the standard and people won't be calling it "High Definition."

All you Bright House guys better start switching to a dish, this problem with FSN won't be sorted out anytime soon barring a miracle:

Does anybody with DirecTV know what channel the game will be on tomorrow? I checked in my channel guide and it says that the game on channel 634 (the regular FSN Florida channel) will be the Panthers game.
