I think they can be a better team, but I doubt that their record will be better because of the losses of those three guys [Hill, Milicic and Battie]. I think it will be a good year if they can reach .500 without the leadership of Hill in the locker room and on the court, though they may be able to help themselves by acquiring an extra guy for the frontcourt ...

Based on the money they've set aside for Howard and Lewis, they're going to have to build around those two guys. They can rent a No. 3 player at different times, but they won't be able to afford a significant third star for the long haul. They're going to have to rely on drafting to get that guy and then try to hold on to him after his rookie contract, but their draft record is not stellar.

I think the scout's take is pretty good. There are just a few things that I think he may have overlooked.

One of them is the contribution that Foyle can do on the offensive end of the floor. I think teams will learn that they can't leave Foyle to "beat the crap out" of Dwight. He's game may be ugly but he can make plays. He is also a good or maybe even better than Darko on the defensive end. He does not look lost like Darko was last season.

Jameer is out to get a contract, and so far he has been playing like a man on a mission. The scout's take on Jameer was based on last season - I think Jameer will be very good this season under SVG.

I totally agree but we do have alot of question marks and you cant blame people for noticing them. But you raise a good point about Foyle, i think he can fill Batties void. We just need a verteran player to step up and lead the younger guys. Hopefully that guy can be Foyle or Rashard. And we gotta try to stay relatively healthy or we will end up like the Heat are now.

I think this team let the possible 3rd star leave. Will Darko be a great player??? I don't know, maybe not. However, I think this team should have at least made the effort to keep him around.

He has looked rather terrible over in Memphis so far. He just wasnt commited to getting better. The guy has ego issues. He wasnt going to be a great or even solid guy for us. He was just way too inconsistent. Plus we got a cheap replacement in Foyle, who probably can put up just about the same numbers if he gets the minutes.

COMPLETELY agree. The one thing about Darko was that he seemed really apathetic about actually improving, and seemed to think in his own head that he was already some superstar or something.

Something tells me he is going to ride that "potential" thing for a few more years and then enter Stromile Swift no-man's land.

I think hes already there. He doesnt seem to be improving so far, he has time, but i dont think its worth spending the money on him. Hes just not the motivated type. While i was a little bummed before when we let him go, now i am happy with the decision and Foyle looks like a great replacement. The health factor is the main question with this team though.

no mention of Stan, I think if anything was overlooked in the scout's report it was this.

Well maybe they were just looking at the player and roster issues. Either way, people seem to be underrating our acquisition of SVG, which is a good thing. I like being the underdog

Tom Ziller says SVG will win Coach of the Year and guide the Magic to the Southeast title.

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks
its like otis said many times that only darko can stop darko from succeeding and its obvious he doesnt really care about playing pro ball here, especially after hearing his tirade after some game he played for his home country, if he actually gave a crap and played with the heart and intensity he does for his country then he would be a hell of a player over here but obviously he has no heart

btw idk about everyone else but i think that article overdoes the grant hill leadership issue, to me personally he was a good guy and a good teammate but i never really thought he was that good as a "leader" on our team considering the freefalls we went through last season, a good leader would of rallied the team to come out and stop the bleeding

Based on tonights game, I think CNNSi have underestimated this team. Sure it was only the preseason, but the Spurs were trying to win this one. We have definitely improved. As GoMaGicVR6 has mentioned they did not even consider we have a winning coach in SVG. He will get this team ready unlike last year when Brian Hill seems lost on what to do.

I dont think we are going to miss those guys as much as he says we will. I hate that Battie is out but we've improved. Not only with the addition of Lewis, but with the development of howard and Redick, who's totally shut me up with some of his performances this preseason. Preseason or not, he's hown me that he can compete in this league and im happy for him. I've always wanted him to be a good player.

Anyway, even our PG's have improved, jameer is taking care of the ball, and arroyo is contributing well in the uptempo offense as well. i see good things for this team this year.
