ORLANDO -- A day after the Orlando Magic finally got their full squad back on the court together the injury bug struck again on Tuesday. Rashard Lewis tried to practice Tuesday, but once again pulled up lame on his sore right ankle.
Shooting guard J.J. Redick had to sit out because of lingering pain in the right
hand that he broke prior to training camp. And point guard Jameer Nelson was
unable to practice because of a stomach virus.
On the positive side, Trevor Ariza and Keyon Dooling – who missed all three of the games the Magic played while in China – not only practiced Tuesday, but Van Gundy said they were two of the best players in drills. Ariza had been out with tendinitis in his foot, while Dooling had been bothered by pain in his groin and hip.

Stan went on to say he didn't know if Lewis would be good in time for Thursday's game. Sticky situation, gents. :|

Ok this is starting to really worry me about Lewis. I can't help but have flashbacks to the Grant Hill era, and how for the first few seasons, management tried to hurry Hill back instead of letting him completely heal.

I realize that Lewis' injury is not as serious, but obviously there's a problem since each time he's come back, he's gotten injured right off the bat again. Please, sit him out for awhile until he doesn't feel any more pain at all. Our team is doing well right now without him, and though we definitely need him, I'd rather see him back for good then the old Grant Hill "back for a few games, out for a few games" show of the past couple of seasons. Obviously, the injury is more serious than the team is letting on...let him rest it the right way.

JJ's hand hurting is not good, he didn't fall on it either so that's a red flag.

Pat Garrity may be starting opening night after all. :)

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks
thats why i didnt even want rashard playing the rest of the preseason at all until the regular season started, i didnt care if he would be rusty i didnt want the team to take a chance at him reinjuring his ankle after all the grant hill BS

Seriously ice got it right. He shouldnt have even played or practiced to heal up after that first injury. We showed that we can play well without Rashard so there is no use in Rashard reinjuring himself. Great players get over the "rust" fast anyways.

Before we blame management for rushing him, I understand that Lewis was chomping at the bit to get out there and the swelling came as a surprise. There is only so much a trainer can do with sprains if the player says he is 100% and ready to resume drills.

Good thing is that every time it flared up the team has shut him down immediately. Can't be too careful. Annoying, but I think we'll be okay in the end.

I say let the dude rest. I'd rather have him healthy and ready near the end of the season when we need all the momentum we can get. If we can hang around the .500 mark without 'Shard in the lineup, we'll be doing pretty good.
