Lewis out Tonight's Game

Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis will miss tonight's exhibition game against the Miami Heat after spraining his right ankle Wednesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats.

While his teammates practiced Thursday, Lewis spent the day getting treatment on his swollen ankle. He said he expects to play in at least one of the three games the Magic have scheduled next week in China.

"This is just a minor setback, that's all," Lewis said after walking out of the trainer's room at the RDV Sportsplex Thursday. "It could have been a lot worse. It's frustrating right now, but I'll be back soon. I'll be fine."

"I'm sure with [Grant Hill] being here, and all the trouble he had, you could wonder, but this won't be that kind of situation," he said. "This is a minor ankle sprain."

I hope SVG keeps him out as long as possible so he'll be ready to go when the regular season starts. We don't want to see this become a nagging injury that bothers him a lot during the season.

I may be jinxing him, but I think Lewis will miss around 15 games this year. I've been looking at his career stats. He usually misses around 5 games per year and last year he missed 22. I wouldn't be shocked if he missed at least 15 games. I'm really getting the feeling that he's soft. I know that it's only been 2 preseason games, but this says a lot about him.

Hopefully I'm jinxing him the other way, so he won't get injured.

I agree with you Magiclive. It's one thing to make snap judgments based on 2 preseason games, but I also figured he would miss about 10 simply based on the fact that he seems to get injured year after year.

This is why it is somewhat positive that the team is learning to play without him for a bit. So long as Turk doesn't completely tank, we can be okay without him in the short term.

Turk and JJ are lighting it up. Was Dooling supposed to play tonight, I think he is being held out. They never mentioned anything about Ariza.

Yeah I figured they are keeping Dooling out for a little longer. But I don't know why Ariza is sitting out.
