I share your concern... That sure makes me nervous. I hope we dont have another devastating repeat of the Grant Hill syndrome... :S

I don't think he will be another GHill. He'll be fine. Besides unlike GHill we signed him healthy not in crutches.

Jameer is really impressing me. I know that this is only one game, but I had a feeling that his assists would go way up under SVG. He finally has a system that he can actually find open players in. Brian Hill's system was garbage. No one could get assists with that terrible offense. Jameer already has 12 assists in this game and it's not even over yet. He had 6 last game. I wouldn't be surprised if he averages over 6 assists per game this year.

This would be a great night if Lewis didn't get hurt. I just hope everything works out and we can get this team healthy and together for atleast one preseason game.

There's been a Pat Garrity sighting: 7 points in 11 minutes.

What the hell is going on out there?!?! :lombardi:

Yup. I think Jameer is buying the SVG system. He also has cut down his TO's. He only has 2 right now. Yup, this is just the preseason but we can see glimpses that our PG position can be solid. I think Carlos can solidify that position if he plays consistent as the backup PG. If not, we still have Dooling.

And how about JJ! He looks like he won't be giving up the SG starter spot without a fight!

Wow! Great play out of the guys!

Otis' wallet just got looser with Jameer's extension.

The gamecast on ESPN says that Lewis came back into the game at the end. Is that true?

That must be wrong info. It was Kruger and then Martin who entered in the last few minutes. Lewis coming back in doesn't make sense.

The nba.com play-by-play is more reliable than the espn one I guess.

Yeah Lewis never came back into the game.

And just for the Dienermaniacs, TD had 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists in his debut with the Pacers.

Any word on Lewis? I thought he was just cramping in the first game, is this related? We can't afford to have him injured.

No this injury was not related. In tonights game Lewis suffered a sprained ankle.

Rashard Lewis, who signed a six-year, $118 million deal with Orlando over the summer, left the game with a sprained ankle after playing only eight minutes. Lewis is listed as day to day and the team said he will be evaluated Thursday.

Jameer wants that extension. Badly. And if he can play like this in the Van Gundy system, then he deserves it.

Just a couple of quick notes:

-Foyle has a NICE touch around the basket, not a stiff up there. SVG even ran a couple of plays for him out of the timeout. Brings a completely different dimension to the offense than Battie.

-Gortat seemed fairly lost, didn't quite know where to go, but the good news is he RAN the floor like hell. The two baskets he had were nothing but a product of that. If SVG is serious about running, he can get a couple of minutes out of him.

-PG play, for the most part (except for a short period in the 1st), Nelson didn't look for his shot which turned out GREAT. Arroyo was still a little too erratic for my taste.

-Defense. It was interesting, they showed effort, but I was troubled by some matchups. Hedo played PF for a little while, not sure that's going to work, got pushed around a little bit. And Redick was overmatched by Richardson in the 1st half -- he gave him hell on the offensive end, outgunned him even in that 1st quarter (I think), but I think you gotta devise some ways him help on the defensive end. Foyle had a couple of great weakside swats.
