We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. According to the newest report on orlandosentinel.com Battie is most likely out for the season. Smith sounds like he is already looking at a deal. |

I bet we end up getting someone who isn't much of a step down from Battie anyways. Tony kind of took a step back last year and was just serviceable. Come on Otis. |

Yeah some ppl (gilePile) are overreacting juuuust a little bit. You couldn't have predicted this and it wont chnage the fact that Milicic thought he was more important than signing Lewis, got pissed, and left. Firing the a GM over an injury is retarded. I llike Gortats hustle I think if Otis signs someone servicable between Gortat, and Augustine, Foyle, we'll be all right. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Gortat adapts. He's one of those hustle players that teams covet. |

Even as "overrated" as Foyle is, he's a step up from Battie or at least just as good. We will sign someone else though. |

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...story?track=rss He's done for the year. He's going to have the operation done once the team gets back from its Chinese road trip. Pat Garrity, come on down! |

Now it's just time to cross the fingers for that injury exception to kick in. |

And with that injury exception, we better sign a capable big man or trade for one, because we are looking mighty thin. We are looking like one of the thinnest big man rotations in the league. |

We applied for one with Grant once and didn't get it, although that might have had something to do with the fact that he was injured and we signed him anyway... At least we aren't the Wizards. Etan Thomas has a heart condition that's keeping him out indefinitely, Brendan Haywood is Brendan Haywood, and Andray Blatche has yet to prove himself. Oh, and they lost Calvin Booth and Michael Ruffin. Granted, those guys are absolutely awful, but they're still guys. |

Yeah but they have other superstars to make up for those sorry big men. I just hope we have enough fire power to make up for the lack of quality big men too. |

Well, it's really put up or shut up time for this team. I still am not distressed over the loss of Darko Milicic...what with his demands as well as his outburst in that Euro game, he's looking more and more like a bit of a headcase. We're in a situation where we just need to sign for depth. Is Oakley still wanting to play here???

They have Arenas, Butler, and Jamison. We've got Howard, Lewis, and (potentially, mind you) Nelson. You could even toss Turk in there. I still think we're in pretty good shape. If Foyle can come in and pull down boards and block some shots, I don't think we'll see much of a drop-off. It's just the concern about having Gortat/Augustine/Garrity in there. Bo Outlaw might just make the team again after all if they cannot find another big, although Bo isn't really up to that kind of beating. |

I guess it just seems like we have alot more questions than the Wizards do. I guess its tough to say that now though but hopefully we can bring another big man in. |

We have a lot more questions, but we also have a lot more potential answers too. While we are conducting what is a huge tryout for many positions on the team, the bottom line is that we have a bunch of guys that could step in and be the starter. It is really confusing a lot of analysts on what to make of our team, it will help down the stretch with injuries. The Wizards are amazing on paper, but as Arenas' injury proved last year they are super dicey when injuries threaten any of the big 3 on their team. With us, unless Howard goes down we should be able to stay strong with a quality backup ![]() Man, all of this is enough to make my head spin. You're probably right in the end MME
