We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Orlando Magic's Tony Battie might face shoulder surgery Brian Schmitz | Sentinel Staff Writer 2:34 PM EDT, September 27, 2007 Orlando Magic power forward Tony Battie might have to undergo rotator cuff surgery and miss an undetermined amount of time. Battie was undergoing testing Thursday at Duke University, and the Magic were waiting on the results. Battie apparently injured the shoulder a couple weeks ago. The 6-foot-10, nine-year veteran was a regular in the Magic lineup alongside center Dwight Howard last season, averaging 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. The Magic open training camp Saturday, and the loss of Battie makes them dramatically thin at the power positions. --------------------------------------------------------- A lot of rumors that surgery will mean he's done for the season, but there is a slim chance he may play through it if he can't hurt it more. I've got a lot of faith in Augustine and Gortat. ![]() Edit: Updated his status in the topic title. -- MM |

This is really bad news. We're already thin enough at the position, now we lose Battie? Jeez...Augustine and Gortat. Yeah, we might be screwed right now. I hope Battie's surgery goes well, he must be really dissapointed about it. |

This is NOT good news! Sentinel reported Battie might need surgery to the rotator cuff. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-...rl_tab02_layout What do you all think? |

this is bad. At least we have one roster spot open. Let's hope the Magic are willing to sacrifice some money and get someone who can at least replace Battie in the meantime. |

Oh man really bad news! We better get another big man in here or were dead meat. He was our one consistent big man besides dwight that we could rely on. You cant go into the season with such a thin line of big men like we have now. Imagine what happens if one of the big guys left, get injured. Were screwed. |

this is a huge blow to our team, we have to sign a veteran big man to come in because we are toast w/ the front court lineup we have right now looks like foyle is gonna be starting unless we bring in a pj brown i really hope we get pj brown or somebody (i really doubt webber will come) or else we might end up seeing Garrity with significant backup PF minutes and we all know how that is gonna go ![]() actually i just remembered that we have gortat, if he can play effectively his first year in the league then maybe it wont be that bad |

Ok, I've been on the "sign Webber" bandwagon all summer. Now would be the time for management to seriously consider it. We're going nowhere fast if we don't get help for Gortat/Augustine. Two young, inexperienced, 2nd round drafted big men? The Magic HAVE to go out and get somebody - now. |

Wow....last person I would expect to hear about to possibly miss the season. Magic definitely have to address this with a veteran big man. I dont want to have to rely on Gortat/Augustine unless there are no other options. |

I hope he isn't out too long and we need more depth at the C/PF position, but it's not like Howard or Lewis got hurt. Let's not overreact here
