We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Paul Coro of AZCentral.com wrote in his Suns blog yesterday that Shawn Marion could have come to the Magic in 2003 for Tracy McGrady. The Magic nixed the deal because they wanted Joe Johnson in addition to Marion; the Suns were willing to throw in Casey Jacobsen, but not Johnson. It's only a small part of the entry, which centers around why Marion consistently comes up in trade rumors. Still, I thought it'd be interesting to think about having one of the league's most prolific stat-sheet-stuffers on the Magic.

Wow, Marion AND Joe Johnson. Interesting to think we could have been the Suns of the east. |

Yeah I remember those trade discussions. I feel that we made the right move at the time by asking for Johnson. Now after seeing what a dog Francis has been, I wish we would have taken the deal for Marion. |

Yep, I remember this as well. In retrospect, we should have just gone with the Marion deal minus Johnson, but at the time the Rockets trade looked really good (Francis/Mobley/Cato). Francis was a much better player than he currently is back then...or at least he seemed to be. |

Not just Francis, but Mobley was a great scorer and a 3 pt shooter was one of our big needs with T Mac leaving. We got a good deal at first but it turned bad by other trades made by the magic management. |

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks

francis was a really good player for us for the first half of that first season, i would have said he played at an all star level the first half of that season while mobley was around, after that everything started going down the drain |

Yeah but don't forget everyone how much "Ball-Hogged" The Basketball. Offense is Francis's game not the point!

But to see Shawn Marion & Joe Johnson for "Me-Mac" Would be a very intersting trade offer to consider indeed! |
