Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu scored 34 points Monday, but it was not enough to give Turkey a victory against Italy at the FIBA Europe qualifying round in Madrid. Turkey fell 84-75 in overtime, and the loss means the team cannot advance out of the qualifying round. Turkey has one more game -- on Wednesday against Tony Parker, Boris Diaw and France. The French team can advance to the quarterfinals with a victory against Turkey.

Turkoglu played 38 minutes, hitting 5-for-8 from 2-point range, 5-for-8 from 3-point range and 9-for-15 on free throws. He also grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and blocked a shot. "It doesn't matter because we lost so there's no consolation,'' Turkoglu said.  However, Turkey shot just 55 percent from the free-throw line as a team and gave back up to a 15-point lead in the loss.

Well, it's good to see him putting up some scoring numbers. Then again, knowing him, he'll probably be hot for a little while and then cool off.

Exactly what I was thinking. The real trick with Turk is getting any sort of consistency out of him.

Great Game Turk!!!

Although it's a loss, it still gives him confidence and perhaps he can bring some of it to his play with the Magic.

C'mon guys let's focus on the positive instead of bashing his consistency.

We're not bashing his consistency. That's just the way he plays. He's been like that for at least as long as he's been on the Magic.
