We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Some questions asked in the article: 1. Question: Can Jameer start creating for his teammates? 2. Question: Can JJ become the offensive weapon we think he can be? 3. Question: Can Rashard become the go-to-guy we desperately crave? 4. Question: Can we keep Tony Battie healthy and relatively fresh this season? 5. Question: Coach Ewing, can you help Dwight develop an 8-10 foot jumper to keep defenses honest? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets see if we can answer these questions above. 1. Definitley. He was partially being held back last season by many factors that sometimes, fans forget. Coach Brian Hill didnt have great confidence in him and he wavered on starting PGs alot which hampered his skills. He shared the rock with Grant, Keyon, and even Hedo alot just when bringing the ball up the court. He now will have full reign of the ball and i really expect alot better season this year then last. His scoring numbers may not jump up that much but his assist and assist/turnover ratio should get alot better. And after having a few seasons under his belt, you should see his turnover numbers lessen too. 2. Well, i really dont think so. At least not now. I think hes a great shooter and will be a great asset to our team with Dwight and now Lewis. But hes going to be a backup and wont get a ton of minutes on this team. Really, he might have to go to another team or something happen to a guy or two on the team because it doesnt look like he will get a ton of minutes. But SVG will make it happen because when you have a weapon like that you better make time for him. But hes unlucky because he has Lewis (could play some SG), Hedo, Ariza, Bogans and Dooling to compete with. He will get minutes but not much to make a huge impact unless he really improves his defense and gets a chance to be a starter or 1st SG off the bench. 3. Yes. Most definitely. He has been a number 2 scorer behind Ray Allen and he still put up over 20 ppg which is excellent. He was underrated for sure being up in the northwest in Seattle. He will get more exposure here and alot better chance to hit open shots with drive and kicks from Dwight, Hedo, Jameer, etc. With the Magic he has a better chance to even up his ppg because here is the #1 option and the first guy to get the ball when we need points now. This wasnt the case on the Sonics because everyone watched Ray Allen and knew him but Lewis was a "unknown" based on his skill level and the little exposure he got. 4. My first answer... no. He wont be very consistent number wise, but he will put up a consistent defensive effort and all out hustle. And frankly, thats all we need from him. We have scorers so any points he gives us is extra. We have Gortat ,also to help, who im really high on. Some guys dont expect much from him and dont think he will make much impact this season. But, while he might not burst out and lead the team in any category, i think by midseason we will really see how great he his for the Magic. He should be a pretty popular player with his hustle and basketball IQ. Even if he doesnt score a ton, he still will be a good defensive player and hustler. 5. Yes. But maybe not right away. It might take some more time... like later in the season or next season. But that will come with time. But just think how great he is and how great he will become. When he adds a jumpshot he will be one of, if not the best big man in the league. We all have high hopes for Dwight and so far i think he has exceeded many peoples expectations. So just like everyone else, i think he will just keep getting better and lead this team to the playoffs again.

Man, our SG slot is looking pretty thin... Well not neccessarily thin, but lets just say I would be hesitant to start any of those three guys. I could see both Ariza and Bogans sharing starter duties at different points of the season. Also, did Anez really write "Pat Garrity (shouldnt even count)" or did you add the part in parentheses lol? |
